Post 11 million copies of HBP sold in the US

Scholastic have announced today that 11 million copies of the US edition of 'Half-Blood Prince' have been sold in the 9 weeks since the book release.

Quote:
"We are thrilled that Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince not only continues to break publishing records in terms of sales, but more importantly has received phenomenal reviews. It is clearly a modern classic," said Lisa Holton, President, Scholastic Children's Trade Books.
The previous five books have also made their way back onto national bestseller lists. The series occupies six out of 10 positions on the Barnes & Noble, Borders and Bookscan bestseller lists.

Geez, that's a lot of books for just the US alone! But's it not really shocking with the HP series being more popular than most people ever imagined.

Keeper of Mr Tennant's specs

i cant believe that they have sold more HBP than the whole amount of OOTP in like 8 weeks!

How many have been sold in UK...

IT is much better than OOTP!

Think of how strange it is that some people still haven't read the books! It's weird, although, I only started reading them after the fisrt film came out...but still...that's been a while now

that is a lot of books! and only in the us, and only the english version! think about the other countries and the translated books in other countries.
come to think of it, i think hbp made it to the bestseller list in turkey. it's like the fifth or something, but it is the only foreign book in all those turkish books! that is such a great success!

Not a huge surprise really considering how many sold in the first 24 hours here in the States.
