The Domes
|
For Ali/Viano! <3 Start of term had come and gone and his final year was now in full swing. This was the year that he needed to keep his head on straight. The year that many decisions were going to be made. Like for starters, were was he headed in life. Many months had been spent considering all of his options and even longer had been spent working alongside the one man that could get him there. Unfortunately Professor Khanna wasn't here this year but thankfully all of his training and hard work had been related to the new DADA Professor. Steady training would continue. Which was good for him, the more he focused on that, the less time he had to sit and think about other things. There was just one issue with that fact, every now and again Feliks needed a break. A few moments to do absolutely nothing at all. To sit exactly where he was right now in an oversized way too comfortable chair inside the domes. As relaxing as this spot was, it was also overly easy for ones thoughts to get the better of them. This is what was taking place, feelings that weren't meant to take place had crept up on him over time leaving him to deal with it all in silence. And as most know, silence had a way of eating at you and making you feel like you were going insane. So with much deliberation and against his own better judgement, it was time for him to speak up. Maybe, just maybe, things would turn out for the better. One could hope right? Because in his head... This was going to be terrible. |
SPOILER!!: Fel! <3 Vi had only just completed one of his many practise sessions on the Quidditch pitch and had decided to take a walk instead of heading back to the Castle. There was no reason in particular for the walk other than it was an excellent day out. And with the weather in Scotland, one might as well enjoy these sunshiney days as the muggy ones would arrive soon enough. The walk also gave him an opportunity to reflect on his Quidditch journey so far. Needless to say it had been a productive one, and he knew he would be onto even better things soon. And yes, he already missed his former U-17 team as a playing unit. On the bright side, he was in the company of a few of those ex teammates rather often here at Hogwarts. Vi had only just shifted his broomstick to his shoulder when he lazily sent his gaze in the direction of the domes. He immediately recognised one of the figures there. Said figure was the reason he went off happily in that direction. As he came within Fel’s vicinity, he observed that his friend seemed to be lost in thought. Er… should he disturb him? Vi hesitated a moment then waved his free hand in front of Fel’s face. “Earth to Feliks Basil Rustokov.” |
Vi! <3 Normally Fel would pride himself in how attentive he was with his own surroundings. Especially with the his training and studying towards the career he had finally decided to try to work towards. He had been working hard on focusing on not only what was in front of him but also on things that couldn't be seen or heard immediately. However, right then his mind was clearly very much elsewhere and all but his current thoughts had been forgotten. Any and all sounds of the dome door opening and shutting, or the footsteps coming his way were lost upon him. Fel didn't notice a thing until that hand was waved in front of his face. Even then it took several seconds for his head to snap upwards meeting the gaze of his friend, a completely startled look in his dark eyes. "Vi, hey... When-when did you get here?"... He didn't think it was too long ago but honestly he had no clue. His attention was now fixed on Viano and nothing more, his mind trying it's hardest to push aside the thoughts he had been having only moments earlier. |
SPOILER!!: Fel! <3 It was how Vi knew that something was off with Fel: the Slytherin usually had an excellent awareness of his surroundings. He always suspected that Professor Khanna had something to do with that since they were Fel’s mentor. That and the fact that his friend actually wanted to go into the Defensive field so it made sense to be extra aware of one’s surroundings. So it was why Viano was extremely concerned. And he had every right to be; Fel was one of his closest friends. “Literally a short while ago,’’ he answered as he braced his broomstick against the back of Fel’s seat. Vi then lowered himself to the ground, feeling that he would be more comfortable there. He sat cross-legged and peered up with concern at the familiar face. “You okay? You seem… I dunno… lost.” |
Vi! <3 This. Was all correct. Professor Khanna had been the one to help him realize where his commitment to a real career path lay. The training that came along with that goal was rather intense at times but deeply needed. For the normally quiet, timid guy he tended to be, a life path leading towards defense in the Dark Arts was quite.. peculiar. Or so he thought. Maybe it was this side of him that needed to show it wasn't always so timid after all. A slow exhale was bad at the response. Okay, so he wasn't a complete disgrace right now. He hasn't been so lost in thought he hadn't noticed Vi for ages. Only a tiny moment or two. Still though, Fel sighed , his eyes drifting away from his friend and to the ground beside where the other seventh year now sat. Any other day Fel would've scooted over and told his buddy to join him on the plush chair but.. maybe this was for the best. Despite making it more difficult not to look Viano in the face at least he wasn't side by side or leaning against him as he did from time to time. That would've deeply thrown him for a loop on what he was about to say. "Uhhh, I-.. I really don't even know..." This was the truth. He didn't know how he was feeling except confused. A part of him knew he should be open and honest about his thoughts but the rest of him was telling him to continue being quiet about it and not ruin years of close friendship. And yet... "Not lost.. at least not yet..." He would be if he continued to talk. |
SPOILER!!: Fel! <3 Did Fel need reassurance once more about his upcoming career path? Because Vi was quite ready to offer some. Sometimes, he wished his friend could see what he saw: a headstrong, brilliant Slytherin beneath the not-so-confident aspect of his personality. And if you asked this Gryffindor, his buddy would be sort of like a scarecrow, giving the components of the DADA field a run for their money, not vice versa. Disgrace? Really, Fel? If only Vi knew you were thinking that… He was inwardly starting to panic because of that sigh. Plus the fact that Fel didn’t come over to sit beside him? Yep, these were grave cause for concern. It felt like one of those nail-biting Quidditch matches, where he was one of the Seekers battling it out to catch the Snitch. Vi had encountered enough scenarios like that to know that the best option in this situation was to remain as calm as possible. The seventh year listened to Fel get the words out, even though they didn’t really make sense to him. “It’s okay if you can’t talk about it right now. I’m happy to sit in comfortable silence until you feel otherwise.” Anything for his friend! |
Vi! <3 Reassurance for one thing or anything was more than likely something he was always going to need. Fel wasn't like Vin when it came to being confident in himself. Honestly if he had to guess, he'd say that somehow is younger sister got all the confidence and forgot to share. As silly as that sounded it's what it felt like sometimes. If ever there was a moment where he needed to borrow some confidence from all of his friends, the time was now. Sorry. He just couldn't help it. This entire moment had been on his mind for longer than he cared to admit. For the longest time he had felt the need to tell his friend just what was on his mind but every time the moment felt right, something else happened. Now probably wasn't the greatest time either but constantly putting it off wasn't helping anything. The sooner Viano knew his true feelings the better. Even if things didn't go as planned, which he didn't expect them too, he wouldn't have to continue hiding how he felt. "No, it's just that I-.. I've been wanting to talk to you about something." |
SPOILER!!: Fel! <3 Luckily, Vi never had an issue offering reassurance to those he cared about. Nor did he foresee himself ever having this issue. Comforting his persons was like a lantern, in his opinion. It helped light them up and make them feel lighter - figuratively speaking, of course. Those who knew him well knew that Vi was always confident. He had to be, growing up earlier in life without a family of his own. That confidence helped him to take life day by day. But Fel with confidence of his own? Viano believed it was in there just waiting to be unlocked. He also thought that this path on which Fel was beginning to take - the career path of DADA would help that confidence spring free. If the Gryffindor had been the type to panic, he would have been doing exactly that by now. But as he wasn’t, he just sat there waiting for Fel to spit it out. If his friend wanted to, that is. And it seemed that the Slytherin wanted to. “Okay! I’m all ears,’’ he said breezily, hoping his lightheartedness would put Fel at ease. |
Vi! <3 What a good trait to have! Fel always took any reassurance about anything to hurt. And when it came from a closest friend, Vi, he had never had any reasons to doubt him. All of that was always true. His buddy always had the right words to say, knew the exact moments he needed a hug or pat on the back. Through the years they had seen ups and down on many things as they got older. What was going on in Feliks head right now was just another bump in their friendship. How was Vi always so calm? Fel couldn't think straight, his chest was hurting and his hands were sweaty. It was almost like how he felt every time he had to take on something new. Only this time, he wasn't going to reach out and grab Viano's hand for a comforting squeeze. Inhale. Exhale. Yeah deep slow breath took him one step closer but he found when he opened his mouth the words didn't come out. All the ways he had gone over how to tell Fel about how he felt in his head didn't matter anymore. "I- I don't know how I'm meant to say what I need to. I've be-been going over it in my head a-again and again for so long." With his dark eyes locked on his lap and several more deep breaths taken he continued. "I'm just go-gonna say it an-and whatever comes of it I'll handle." Chewing at his lower lip for a moment he finally blurted out what he had wanted to tell him for awhile now. "I li-like you. More than just a friend." Yeah, no, he didn't feel better telling him. Nor was he going to look his friend on the face right now. This was it. The words were out and there was no turning back. |
SPOILER!!: Fel! <3 Those ups and downs had been small bumps so Vi never thought twice about them. What was important to him was that their friendship always remained strong. But gathering from Fel’s continued reactions and reluctance, he knew this revelation was going to be big. Vi wracked his brain in an attempt to think back on something that he could have done that hadn’t sat well with Fel, but nothing came to mind. The calmness he exuded came from all those moments of playing Quidditch under pressure. And he sure was wondering why his friend hadn’t yet grabbed his hand for strength. For comfort. Vi almost cracked a joke with the intention of easing the tension, but he had a feeling that would distract Fel from saying what he needed to. So, the Gryffindor remained silent and offered an encouraging smile. He was about to say, though, that the would get through what ever it was togeth - Wait. What? Vi was stunned. So stunned that he momentarily lost his voice. All he could do was sit there, willing his brain to process what Fel had said so that he could at least say something in return. |
Something Vi had done? If Fel had known that Viano had thought he'd possibly done something to upset him, he'd have corrected him. Maybe even made a joke of it. Only, it was nothing at all like that. This was all Feliks. As much as he would've liked to hold Vi's hand or even have a joke told, both most definitely would've thrown him off his game and caused him to crumble. Nothing he wanted to be said would've made it out of his mouth. ... And there it was. It had done it. And the silence couldn't have been any louder. Merlin help him now. Nothing was about to make this any better. The stunned look on Viano's face only did one thing for him then, it told him all he needed to know. What he had already known but had maybe hoped a little was wrong. Why couldn't he have been wrong? "You don't have to say anything... I just had to get it off my chest and tell you the truth..." Now that he had done that, could he disappear? |
