The Pattern Shelves is Gladrags' home for ongoing creative challenges of all shapes and sizes you can browse, mix, and return to whenever inspiration strikes.
Here you’ll find a collection of challenges designed to spark creativity without pressure. Participate in one challenge, all of them, or pop in whenever the mood hits. There are no deadlines breathing down your neck here, just creativity and curiosity!
All creative mediums are welcome, all skill levels encouraged, and all interpretations celebrated. Choose a pattern, make it your own, and see where it takes you.

To ensure each prompt is explored with intention and care, the following minimums apply depending on the type of creation submitted. You are always welcome to go beyond these requirements! These are simply the baseline needed for a prompt to be considered 'complete'.
- Avatar / Icon Grab Bags:
Each grab bag must include a minimum of five (5) icons. There is no maximum limit. If you include more than five icons, any additional images must be placed under a [photocut] or [spoiler] tag to keep the thread tidy. - Signature Grab Bags:
A minimum of three (3) complete signature designs is required per prompt. - Profile Pictures:
Each submission must include at least two (2) profile picture designs to fulfill a prompt. - All Other Mediums (traditional art, crafts, textiles, mixed media, etc.):
One completed piece per prompt is sufficient. Submissions should include at least one clear image of the finished work and may placed under a [photocut] or [spoiler] tag or an SS appropriate 'thumbnail' size linking to the full image.
When you've completed a challenge, please PM a Gladrags mod stating that you're done and ready for review! Upon approval, you'll earn a spot in our Creator Hall of Fame

Spellbound Spectrum
Spellbound Spectrum is a year-long creative challenge inspired by the many moods, motifs, and magic of the wizarding world. Each year features 12 themed prompts, one for each month, designed to explore different facets of creativity through a Harry Potter inspired lens.
This challenge is all about expression, experimentation, and personal interpretation. Whether your magic takes shape through digital art, traditional illustration, graphics, crafts, textiles, mixed media, or something entirely your own, Spellbound Spectrum welcomes it all.
There's no pressure to keep pace and prompts can be completed in order, out of order, or whenever inspiration strikes. Interpret them subtly, symbolically, or literally—it's entirely up to you. Multiple entries for a single prompt are allowed if inspiration strikes more than once.

Potter100 Potter100 is a creative challenge built around 100 prompts inspired by the world of Harry Potter, designed to spark nostalgia and invite you to revisit familiar magic through your own artistic lens. While the prompts draw from wizarding themes, they are intentionally open-ended and may be interpreted as loosely or literally as you like. You are welcome to explore them beyond the Potterverse if inspiration leads you elsewhere.
Prompts can be completed in any medium (graphics, traditional art, crafts, mixed media, or otherwise) and tackled in order, out of order, or entirely at random. There are only right ways to participate as long as you follow your curiosity and create at your own pace.

Magical25 Magical25 is a personal, creative challenge made up of 25 magic inspired prompts that focus on you: your identity, your imagination, and how you envision yourself existing within the wizarding world.
Prompts may be completed in any medium, including graphics, traditional art, crafts, textiles, mixed media, or other forms of creative expression. You're welcome to complete the prompts in order or jump around as inspiration strikes—there is absolutely no required pace or sequence.
As you work through Magical25, please be sure to keep all relevant Pattern Shelves and Gladrags guidelines in mind.
