Jessiqua's 50 ficklets on the Teenage Years of Molly and Arthur ♥ - Sa13+ Hi everyone who might be reading! I'm Jess :D and this is my SECOND set of Ficklets (first ones being on Lily and Remus). I wanted to explore the teenage years of Molly Prewett and Arthur Weasley. Some of the dates/characters etc. have been altered to fit with my writings. Disclaimer: The entire, wonderful, magical world of Harry Potter belongs to the incredible JK Rowling ♥ SPOILER!!: Prompts! 49. WINGARDIUM LEVIOSA Fifth Year “Wingardium Leviosa,” the class said all together. Some of the feathers went up in the air, some didn’t. Someone’s feather even started tickling them. That person must not have been very good. Something was tickling him though, and he didn’t know what it was. It was tickly on his nose, and cheek, on his neck, on his feet. He must have kicked his leg out because he heard someone say “Ouch,” and he opened his eyes. “Molly! I’m sorry, are you okay?” he said frantically, looking at her face for any signs of damage. Molly smiled. She raised her hand with the feather in her hand and started tickling his face again. Arthur started laughing, but took the feather from her hand and put it in the fire. Molly punched him jokingly, and blushed a bit. “Were you having a nice dream?” she asked him, standing up and sitting on the lounge. He joined her and put his legs up on the table, “It was our first Charms class, remember when we learned Wingardium Leviosa?” he laughed. Laughing herself, Molly replied, “How could I forget?” |
47. TWITCHY EARS HEX Second Year Molly had been teaching Arthur how to turn his quill into a pen, and he was teaching her some hexes he had learned over time. “Oh, but Arthur don’t you think Hexing people is bad?” Molly asked. “No, not really. Not if they are harmless ones, like… this,” he said, and pointed his wand at her. She didn’t understand what he had done. Frowning at him, she felt something weird happening to her ear. She put her hand on it, and felt it twitch. Smiling, thinking it was just normal, she said “What did you do?” and looked around. Was something going to pop out at her? Arthur started laughing, “Your ears Molls,” he said. Realising he was actually hexing her she got up from the floor and said “ARTHUR WEASLEY! You hexed me?” She tried pretending to be mad, but she couldn’t. He was laughing and she couldn’t keep a straight face. She flopped back onto the floor and he taught her how to perform the Twitchy Ears Hex. |
20. KNITTING CHARM Fifth Year Sitting in the corner, where she couldn’t see him, Arthur was watching Molly knit. He had to make sure he wasn’t seeing double, because she was knitting three things. He could see what was forming into a jumper, some socks, and a scarf which was being knitted by Molly herself. “She’s good at that charm,” Monty said, joining Arthur. “She is. I’ve never seen anyone work a pair of knitting sticks as quick as her,” Arthur replied, slightly dreamily. Monty laughed and said, “When are you going to ask her out?” Arthur, very startled by the blunt question, felt himself turn red. Blast his red hair and red cheeks. “I… how do you know?” “I think everyone knows. She likes you too, you know.” “I… really? Did she say something?” “She doesn’t need to Arthur. It’s written all over her when she sees you. Honestly, next time you talk to her watch the frowns disappear, and the stress be washed off with a smile,” Monty said smiling. “She is my best friend Arthur, I think I know when she likes someone.” |
11. EXPECTO PATRONUM Fifth Year Molly was really scared she wouldn’t be able to pull the spell off. It was advanced magic, she knew that. Arthur stood by her side and whispered “Molls, you’ll be fine. You have never failed a spell yet.” Molly looked down at her shoes. She knew he was right, she perfected every spell they learned. But this? No, it was going to be so much harder. “Okay, class, when I release the trap door five Dementors will come out. The owners of each Patronus that wards off a dementor will be awarded 50 points. Ready?” he asked and lifted the lid. Molly felt a high pitched scream escape her throat as they slithered closer towards her. She held firmly to her happiest moment. It was definitely happy. The red hair of Arthur the day they accidentally kissed. If she wasn’t so terrified, she would have blushed. Raising her wand she yelled “EXPECTO PATRONUM!” and watched as a roaring Lioness bound from her wand, running full speed towards the dementor nearest her. |
28. NOX Fifth Year It was funny, really, when it happened. Molly was sitting in the common room, well past midnight, trying to practice her non-verbal spells. She was attempting to transfigure a knitting needle into a teapot. She kept waving her illuminated wand at it, biting her lips together to keep from speaking. It just wasn’t working. Thud, thud, thud. She didn’t want to be caught failing a spell. She tiptoed towards the sound, listening to see if someone was coming down from the boy’s dormitories. They were. “Nox,” she muttered, deluminating her wand. She stood there for a moment, waiting, and then began to tiptoe back towards her knitting needle. She thought she could just grab it and quickly run upstairs to her bed. Just as she started moving though, she felt something bump into her. And something touched her lips. She inhaled, a surprise gasp. “Oh, no,” someone muttered, and there was a bright light. She put her hand over her eyes, blinded by the light. “Oh sorry,” they muttered, pointing it away from her. She looked through her fingers. It was Arthur. |
1. ACCIO Seventh Year “Are you ready?” Arthur asked Molly, popping up behind her. She let out a little noise, not realizing he was behind her. “Oh, Arthur, don’t do that,” she hissed, hitting him playfully. “Come on, let’s go,” he whispered, grabbing her hand and walking her towards the portrait. They climbed through and snuck down to the lake. It was so beautiful and peaceful at midnight. There were bubbles coming up every so often from the giant squid, and the stars were bright in the sky. Molly and Arthur were sprawled on a picnic blanket, watching the stars and talking. “Oh, I forgot the picnic basket!” Arthur said. “Where is it?” Molly asked. “In my dormitory.” “Can’t you just summon it? You know the incantation don’t you?” “Er… I’ve never actually used it before,” Arthur admitted, rather sheepishly. Molly smiled at him and pulled out her own wand, and pointed it towards the tower. “Accio Picnic Basket,” she said confidently. Moments later, a picnic basket was flying towards them. Arthur put his arms out and captured it, and set it on the mat. He pulled out bottles of butterbeer and two pumpkin pasties, and they toasted to their final year at Hogwarts. |
24. LUMOS First Year Molly and Arthur “Hello everyone, welcome back to charms! I hope you all practiced Wingardium Leviosa with your feathers over the week! Today we are going to be practicing our want lighting charms! Does anyone know what the incantation is?” A few people looked around, hesitant to raise their hand. “Yes, Miss. Prewett?” the Professor asked, calling on Molly. “It’s Lumos, Professor.” “Ten points for Gryffindor! Everyone raise your wands to the ceiling. I don’t want to be blinded! Everyone after me please, LUMOS,” he said, swirling his wand towards the ceiling where a nice beam of light was conjured from the tip. The class practiced, and there was a dim lighting from the collective wands. “I want you to find a spot in the classroom to practice, either towards the floor or ceiling, and I’m going to come around and make sure everyone is doing it correctly.” Arthur, situated near Molly, wasn’t practicing. He was watching Molly. Her hand movement looked so precise, and her light was brighter than any other in the room. “You’re good at that,” he said, coming up behind her. Molly turned around, cheeks pink, smiled and said, “Th-thank you Arthur. Can I see you do it?” |
2. AVADA KEDAVRA Fourth Year Molly and Arthur “Now class, today is a rather intense lesson and I’d like you all to put away your wands. Who can tell me of known trio of curses?” Looking around, she nodded to one red-haired Gryffindor. “The Unforgivable Curses, Professor,” he said. Professor Gallow nodded, “Yes, well done Master Weasley, the Unforgivable Curses. Five points! What is the most severe of the three curses?” “That would be the killing curse.” “Five more points! The incantation for the Killing Curse is Avada Kedavra. Does anyone know what the wand movement is?” No hands rose. Good. “It is a flick down, across to the right, then down again. A bit like a lightning bolt.” Another red-haired Gryffindor raised her hand. “Yes miss Prewett?” “Professor I do wonder why we are allowed to be learning this spell.” Her face was contorted in worry. Professor Gallow smiled. “Good question. I know you are all aware of the current affairs in our wizarding community, and the Headmaster believed you should be aware of the curses that have the potential to do a great deal of harm, in case any of you ever hear these words or see someone performing the wand movement.” |
6. CRUCIO Fourth Year Molly and Arthur Molly sat stunned, exchanging a glance with Monty. Why did were they being taught this? Obviously they weren’t going to be casting them! Arthur raised his hand. “Yes?” Professor Gallow asked. “What about the other Unforgivable Curses?” Molly glared at him. “Who knows what another one is?” Someone raised their hand and said “The Cruciatus Curse, Professor. It is used to torture the victim, causing pain.” “Five points to Slytherin. Does anyone know the incantation and wand movement?” The Slytherin raised his hand again, confidently. “The incantation is Crucio, the wand movement is to point at the intended victim whilst performing the spell.” Molly became fearful. Why were they being taught these curses? Obviously they were in the dark books, but if the Professors were just TEACHING them, surely that was making it easier for those who wanted to join you-know-who that much easier? “Ten points to Slytherin, yes,” She said, encouragingly. She spoke about the effects of the curse, when it was created, and historically who had used it for their favour, and why. Molly didn’t want to listen. She wanted to walk out, actually. Was this Professor a dark witch? |
17. IMPERIO Fourth Year Molly and Arthur “Last, who knows the third Unforgivable Curs? Ah, miss Prewett?” “The Imperius Curse. It is a vile curse allowing the caster to have complete control of the victim.” That’s right, Molly knew her theory. Arthur looked up at her, impressed, mostly for being able to speak so confidently to the Professor. He gave her a smile. “Five points for Gryffindor. Do you know the incantation and wand movement?” she challenged. “Imperio. Point at the victim whilst saying the incantation.” Professor Gallow smiled and nodded, “Ten points. How does the Imperius Curse differ from its brothers?” Without blinking, Molly replied “The imperius curse doesn’t cause direct harm to the victim. It merely causes hypnosis. The harm comes from the actions the caster wants the victim to take.” “Yes! Ten Points! The Imperius curse places the victim into a trance; they feel rather calm and at peace. The killing curse is designed to kill, and cruciatus curse to cause pain, but the imperius curse does NOT do these things. Why is it unforgivable?” Arthur raised his hand, “Because it is taking away the victim’s free will, and allowing the caster complete control over the actions of the victim.” |
12. FURNUNCULUS Third Year Arthur “Help me!” Arthur hissed to Frank, who took one look at his friend and burst out laughing. “What in MERLIN’S underpants happened to you?” the Lion asked, wiping tears from his eyes. Arthur felt his face burn with humiliation, though the boils hid the blushing. “I accidentally tripped a Slytherin over and he hexed me!” Arthur was furious. It was an accident. He had apologised no avail. Frank stopped smiling, realising it wasn’t a joke. “Where did it happen?” “On the stairs leading up from the Great Hall.” Oh, blimey, he hoped Molly wouldn’t walk in right now. That would be a right mess! The portrait opened at that moment, and Arthur ran upstairs. Frank followed him up, “Molls wanted to know why you were running up the stairs.” “She did? What did you tell her?” Frank smiled his crooked smile “I told her what happened.” Arthur sunk his head. Great, now the love of his life thinks he’s a coward. He should have jinxed the Slytherin student back, but he knew it would have been futile. “Don’t worry, mate, she rushed out as soon as I told her, muttering something about making a Boil Cure Potion for you.” |
41. SCOURGIFY First Year Molly and Arthur The test was hard. Why couldn’t it have been a practical homework assignment? Arthur sat at the study tables doing the best he could, his potions and charms textbooks open in front of him. “Do you need some help?” a fellow first year asked him. Arthur looked up and met the eyes of the beautiful girl he had seen for the first time only three weeks ago. “I just… I’m conf-… well this question here. What charm is used for the first of the 5 C’s?” Molly looked over his shoulder. He could smell her faint scent of freshly baked bread. “The first C is clean, and the cleaning charm,” she paused, flipping through his charms book to find it, “is Scourgify. Like this,” she read the incantation and wand movement and practiced it on an ink stain on the table. It vanished. She turned and smiled at Arthur, feeling her cheeks redden. She had been wanting to speak to him for two weeks now, and after watching him struggle with his homework, she had decided it was the perfect time. |
46. TEREGO Seventh Year Molly and Arthur “ARTHUR! What are you DOING?” Molly yelled, HIGHLY embarrassed. The boys were laughing so hard, almost rolling around on the ground crying from laughing so much. Oh, it was just too much. Even Arthur was having a lot of laughs. It was kind of funny. Even though he would be in a LOT of trouble after. Maybe he didn’t think it through too well. Molly, on the other hand, was livid. Though her cheeks were burning the same colour as her hair, Arthur knew it wasn’t really from embarrassment. Even though she was embarrassed. She was so angry that her face was a brilliant shade of red. Molly, standing there with her arms slightly extended from her body, was looking at Arthur. Seething! Head to toe, she was COVERED in goo. As soon as Arthur saw just how MAD she was, his face fell. “Molls, I’m sorry. I… let me,” he said, and pulled out his wand. “Terego,” he said pointing his wand at her robes, her shoes, her hair, trying to get as much of the goo out as possible. Even the boys had stopped their laughing, and had got cloths for Molly to wipe her face with. |
9. DISAPPARATE Seventh Year Molly and Arthur “Bye mother, I’m just going out for a bit,” Molly called, skipping down the stairs and through the back door. She snuck behind the chicken coop, looked around, and remembered The Three D’s. “Destination, Determination, Deliberation,” she repeated to herself over and over until she felt confident. Turning on the spot, the quiet pop heard by none, she disapparated from her home. With a bit of a wobble, she landed in the alleyway Arthur had told her about, quite near his home. It was well hidden beside a few hills, and as soon as she straightened herself she felt hands wrap around her. “Hello Mollywobbles,” Arthur whispered into her ear, giving her a light kiss on the forehead. Molly giggled at the nickname he had started calling her, not wanting to get too close. She felt a little nauseated. “Well done! First time solo, how was it?” Arthur asked, very interested. He had yet to apparate by himself. “Oh it was dark and… and claustrophobic. You don’t have water do you?” she asked. He put his arm around her, directing her to walk with him. “Not on me, but plenty at home.” |
Mini Challenge #6 – New Beginnings Molly and Arthur The sixth years were relaxing in the common room after the start of term feast. They were sitting by the fire, weighed down from all the food, when Frank began getting restless. “I’m bored. I don’t want to sleep yet.” Arthur looked up, “What do you want to do? Chess? Hexi-“ he said, stopping at the look Molly threw him. “Just a suggestion,” he said, holding his hands up in surrender. “No,” Frank said, a mischievous grin on his face. “Tarantallegra,” he said, pointing his wand at all the sixth year Gryffindors. Suddenly they were all up and dancing! Frank and the other boys were roaring with laughter, whilst the girls were trying to keep clear from bumping into objects around them. “Give me your hand,” Arthur said to Molly, holding his out for her. She took it, and he pulled her close, putting his other hand around her waist. Their uncontrollable dancing had slowed down. Staring into each others eyes, their feelings becoming apparent to each other, Arthur bent his head and kissed Molly on the lips in front of all their fellow Lions. A moment later, they realised the dancing had stopped minutes ago. |
39. SECTUMSEMPRA Seventh Year Arthur There stood Apollyon Pringle, mean nasty caretaker. He could run, of course, but that wouldn’t be any good. He was glad that Molly had escaped. “What do you think you’re doing? Eh? SPEAK!” Arthur gulped, “Well I was just… I couldn’t sleep and I wanted to go for a walk. Clear my head.” “BOY it’s four in the morning!” He grabbed Arthur by the ear, pulling him to his office. “Stand over there facing the wall. GO ON!” Trying not to wince as Pringle released his ear, he followed instructions, trying to brace for the pain. “Goblet,” he muttered to the Fat Lady. “OH shall I just stay awake all night, waiting for you all to traipse in whenever you please?” He shoved past through the hole and into the common room and collapsed by Molly’s feet. “Master Weasley, I’m afraid the laceration to your back was unable to be healed. It’s clean, it won’t bleed again but you will always have the severed section of skin on your back,” the Matron explained to himwhen he woke in the hospital wing. “It was Mr. Pringle that did it.” “He has been severely punished for using the curse on a student.” |
25. MOBILICORPUS Seventh Year Molly and Arthur “But Madame Rose I just want to see Arthur. Please!” Molly was almost begging the healer to let her in. It was Sunday, after all, and she hadn’t seen Arthur since he collapsed in front of her very early Saturday morning. “Oh FINE but only for ten minutes! He needs his rest!” she said, standing aside to let Molly in. Molly almost ran to his cubicle, popping inside and giving him a hard kiss on the mouth. “Arthur I am so sorry I left, I can’t believe he did this to you, that foul man! Professor Dumbledore fired him when he found out what had happened,” Molly was explaining very quickly. “What happened after I got back to the common room though? Rose won’t tell me.” Molly sighed. “I levitated your body to the hospital wing.” Arthur reached over and took Molly’s hands. “Mollywobbles. My Molly, don’t apologise. I’m glad you got away safely. I would have killed him if he had done this to you. I only want you to be safe.” Tears fell down her cheeks. “I still feel guilty. I should have gone for help or something rather than just running to the common room.” |
18. INCARCEROUS Seventh Year Molly and Arthur “Welcome back, seventh years. This year you are sitting your N.E.W.T.’s. Testing your previous six years, as well as this year. Today we look into Conjuration. Can someone name a conjurating spell?” Professor McGonagall asked the class. “Incarcerous,” called one boy. “Yes, Incarcerous. 10 points to Ravenclaw. Does anyone know the incantation and wand movement?” “It’s in-CAR-ser-us, said whilst pointing wand,” the same boy answered. McGonagall nodded, “Ten points. Yes. Incarcerous is a spell which conjures thick ropes to bind the target of the wand. When might this spell be useful?” “When your boyfriend is tickling you,” Molly whispered as softly as the wind. Arthur let out a snicker. “Master Weasley?” called MgConagall. Arthur kicked Molly softly under the table, “Er… when someone is trying to attack you. A dark wizard.” McGonagall nodded with a stern eye at the two young red-heads. “Indeed. The spell can be used on any ONE or THING as defence. But also for the MLE’s who use it to capture prisoners or criminals. Anything else?” Molly raised her hand, “Professor, could it be used harmlessly? For instance a mother using it on a child to prevent them from running onto the road or something?” |
31. ORCHIDEOUS Fifth Year Molly and Arthur “Just do it mate! You can’t kiss a witch and not make the next move,” Frank was saying. “But what if she turns me down?” “Are you kidding? She kissed you back! Of course she won’t turn you down. I’m telling you, those witches, they love flowers!” Arthur took a few deep breaths and left the common room. He knew where he would find her. There she was. She was in an empty classroom practicing transfiguration. She didn’t need to, she was already top of Transfiguration, but they had exams soon. He crept up behind her, pointed his wand at the table and whispered “Orchideous.” Molly jumped as a stem grew from nothing, bright pink orchids growing. She spun around in her seat to see Arthur gazing at her, his cheeks red. “H..hi Arthur,” she said softly, standing up. They hadn’t spoken much since their kiss. She wasn’t sure why. She liked him very much. “Molly. I have something I want to tell you. Ever since…” “OH! I have to go,” Molly said, feeling a prickle in her eyes. “I’m sorry Arthur I just have to… have something to… See you later,” she scooped up her books and left. |
43. SPECIALIS REVELIO Fifth Year Molly “But what is it Molls?” Monty asked. Molly shrugged. “How should I know? It was just delivered to me this morning at breakfast. They looked at the odd package. It was squishy, wrapped in brown paper with an orange string. “Well why don’t you open it?” “What if it’s something dark? It could be a…” “A what? Molls, it’s a soft package! It’s not bound to be a murderous teddy bear, is it?” “I suppose not. But you know with everything happening outside, what if it’s some kind of dangerous package?” “Honestly Molls, are you a Gryffindor or not? SpeRevelio,” she spoke, pointing her wand at the package. The two girls looked at the package but nothing happened. “Oh fine,” Molly said, carefully untying the bow and unwrapping the paper. “What on earth?” she picked up what looked like a large multi coloured ball of yarn, and unrolled it, something falling out from inside. Monty laughed, “Oh Molls, someone knitted you a jumper!” It was scarlet with a light pink M in the middle. Monty picked up the small card, “Dear Molly, Happy sixteenth, A. Who is A?” Molly blushed and put the jumper on. |
50. WADDIWASI Seventh Year Molly and Arthur “Molls, can you help me with this spell?” Arthur asked. “What spell?” “Waddiwasi. We learnt it last year but I don’t remember the wand movements.” “Sure. Let’s go to the grounds and find some way to do it, shall we?” It was a Saturday afternoon, and the two of them ventured down to Hagrid’s garden, where the pumpkins which had been too small for the Halloween decorations were sitting, doing nothing. Molly looked around and found a few strong, sharp sticks and put them into a pile at Arthur’s feet. “You say wah-dee-WAH-see and point your wand at the sticks, and then try to aim your wand towards the pumpkins after you finish speaking it, like this,” she said, sending a stick flying towards the pumpkins, where it embedded itself into the thick flesh. “Wow! Nice one,” Arthur said. Molly smiled and said “Your turn. See if you can embed it too.” “Wah-dee-WAH-see,” Arthur spoke clearly, and was successful in sending all of the sticks towards the pumpkin, with only one not embedding. “Seems to me you don’t need any hemp Arthur Weasley,” Molly said sceptically, but smiling. |
26. MORSMORDRE Seventh Year Molly and Arthur They were taking a short break from studies when Alice walked in with a paper, and plonked it on the table in front of her friends. “It’s called the Dark Mark,” she said morosely. “They actually have a death mark! They parade their murders in the sky so everyone knows some innocent person has been murdered.” “That’s barbaric,” Molly said, picking the Daily Prophet up to read it aloud. Daily Prophet Journalist Magnus Brigette reporting on a sight just near Paddy Terrace, Yorkshire. A muggle community with known wizarding occupancy. At three this morning reports were made on a strange green cloud overhanging the house of Mr. and Mrs. Notts. When the Magical Law Enforcers came to investigate, they found the bodies of the Notts family in the kitchen. It was ruled as murder, and the death eaters in question had been arrested soon after. It was during the questioning that the wizard they believe to be the ring leader of the murder opened up and explained the mark was called The Dark Mark, and signifies a death at the hands of a death eater. The graduating Gryffindors sat in silence thinking of the life awaiting them outside the castle. |
7. CONFUNDUS Sixth Year Molly and Arthur The sixth year Gryffindors were sitting around giggling like crazy. They were all quite poor at the spell, but were occasionally succeeding in small bouts. “Condundo,” Arthur said, pointing his wand at Monty. Nothing happened, and they all laughed. “Con-FUN-doe,” Molly spoke, pointing it at Frank who was in the middle of snogging Alice. “EWW!” Alice screeched, wiping her face. They all doubled over laughing, even Frank a moment later when the feeble spell had stopped working. “Sorry Ally,” he said, wiping a drop of his slobber from her cheek. “You were licking her like a… like a… oww,” Arthur giggled, clutching at his side. “Like a DOG,” Monty said, toppling sideways off her chair. “Confundo,” Frank said, pointing his wand at Molly, who started looking around in confusion and scratching her head. “How’d I get here?” she asked, then stood up and went to the door, muttering something about putting the kettle on. Everyone laughed, and waited for her to come back. “Maybe we should check on her,” Monty said, worried the spell may have been a bit too effective. “APRIL FOOLS DAY!” Molly yelled, jumping out from behind the common room door. |
8. DIFFINDO Fifth Year Arthur He made a jumper. He had written home and his grandmother had sent him detailed written instructions, supplies, and a muggle knitting book. He was just finishing off the sleeves. He chose scarlet, for her braveness, and pink for her softness. It was a letter ‘M’ for Molly, obviously. He had hand knitted it with love. “Diffindo,” he said, pointing his wand and swiping his wand at the end of the yarn after casting off. He held it out to admire it. Well… there were a few holes where he had dropped a stitch, and there were a few knots and strings of yarn inside as he wasn’t sure how to tuck them in, but on a whole it was okay. It looked like it would fit. He wrapped it in brown paper, with a card, and tied it with an orange ribbon, for their hair colour, and severed the end from the reel. |
3. BRAKING CHARM Seventh Year Molly Molly followed, her broom quivering from her direction. “Now what?” she half yelled in a strained voice. “You’re really scared, aren’t you? Why don’t you just tell him you don’t want to? He’ll understand.” “No, he wants to take me flying. I’m going to go flying.” “Okay… well, now we will just do a few laps, then I’ll teach you to fly down and dismount.” After about twenty minutes, Molly felt a bit more comfortable in the air. “RIGHT SO WE’LL JUST FLY DOWN AND DISMOUNT! WATCH ME!” Frank yelled, descending and dismounting slowly so Molly could see. “YOUR TURN!” Right. Down she went, screaming. “Oh dear,” Frank said, whipping his wand out and pointing it towards Molly, who found herself slowing down, as if someone had taken hold of the broom to control it. Once she was on the ground Frank laughed, “How about I teach Arthur the breaking charm then?” Molly laughed. |
34. PROTEGO Fifth Year Molly and Arthur “Perfect description, ten points. Everyone, find a partner to practice with! One to disarm and one attempting Protego charm.” Professor Gallow said to the class. Arthur had quickly asked Molly if she would be his partner, and she agreed. “I’ll try Protego first, shall I?” he asked, walking a few feet away. “Ex-pell-ee-are-mus,” Molly said, pointing her wand at Arthur. It flew from his hand before he could produce a shield. It took them seven tries before Arthur had managed to produce a decent enough shield to block the spell. When it was Molly’s turn, she got it within three tries. “Good work everyone. Of course you were only shielding against a small disarming spell, so the shield is a lot easier than if you were shielding against something more advanced. For homework I want you to partner up and practice with some different spells and jinxes, then write a report about it.” “Want to partner up Molls? I’ve got a few jinxes up my sleeve,” Arthur said jokingly. “Sure, but I’m not sure your little jinxes will amount to mine,” Molly replied mock smugly, walking off with Monty, having a giggle together. |
19. JELLY LEGS Fifth Year Molly and Arthur They had found an empty classroom to practice in, Molly and Arthur. “Shall I try Protego first this time?” asked Molly, slightly nervous being in an empty room with Arthur. “Okay. What shall I try?” he asked, equally nervous. “Surprise me,” she said, turning around and walking a few steps away from him. When she was a good distance away, she turned and said “Go.” “LOH-koh-moh-tor WI-bl-ee,” he said, pointing his wand at her, then “Oops, sorry Molly,” as she collapsed to the ground. “Not to worry,” she said, standing up. “Try again.” It took a few goes, and Molly was sure her knees would get some big bruises, but soon enough she had been able to shield from most of the spell. Her right knee merely twitched now. “Great job,” Arthur said to her, giving her a high-five. “Thanks. Now it’s your turn,” she said with a slightly mischievous smile. “LOH-koh-moh-tor WI-bl-ee,” she said quickly, and had quite a lot of fun seeing him collapse just as many times as she did before he, too, was able to protect himself. |
33. POINT ME Seventh Year Molly During the second half of their seventh year, the students were asked to report to The Great Hall, where they were all given a number on arrival. This number allocated them to a certain table. All house banners had been removed. Molly and Arthur had been separated, and Molly had sat at her allocated table. “Your task throughout the day is to work as a team with your new group. You will need to get through a maze. The first group to reach the middle will win a special feast here in The Great Hall tonight,” Professor Dumbledore said to them. A few hours later, Molly’s group were beyond lost in the maze. “I think we should climb the vines to see where the maze heads,” someone said. “Well Dumbledore said our group was the North group! If only we had a compass,” another said. “Wait, I can do that!” Molly said, putting her wand flat on her hand. “Point me,” she whispered, and felt the wand point to the side. They all smiled at her, “good job Molly!” and walked as a group in the opposite direction, towards the centre where a gleaming trophy stood waiting for them. |
22. LEGILIMENS Sixth Year Molly and Arthur “Molly can I just say something?” Arthur asked one night in the common room once the others had gone to bed. She nodded. “You’re scared about what’s waiting for us outside Hogwarts once we leave. I am too, but I also know you’re not just scared about your fate. I don’t think you want to commit to anything because you fear losing the people you love and that’s making you not want to commit to me.” Molly’s eyes widened. She had never spoken these fears out loud to anyone! “How did you know that Arthur? Are you a Legilimens?” He let out a sad laugh, “No of course not. It’s true, isn’t it?” She looked down and nodded. “My biggest fear is losing those I love. Those death eaters feed off people’s fears and I worry that if they find our my fear they will use it against me.” “Molly you can’t give up love for fear. You just can’t do that. I lo-love you Molly, and I want you to be my girlfriend, and I want you by my side when we leave Hogwarts. I’ll protect you, and you will have a life away from your fears with me.” |
10. ENGORGIO Fourth Year Molly and Arthur “There’s not going to be much there for us all to share,” they had all agreed. “But it’s so delicious, can’t I have the whole piece?” Arthur asked. “What makes you think YOU deserve it?” Molly asked. Arthur smiled, “Just… just for being me, really.” Alice rolled her eyes. “Why don’t we enlarge it? Then we can have more cake!” “Ahh good idea,” Frank said, pointing his wand at the cake, “Engorgio,” he said, performing the spell. The cake doubled in size. “It’s still not big enough,” Frank complained. “Engorgio,” Nicholas said. It doubled again. “Again, Molls?” Arthur asked from across the table. “Engorgio,” he said. BANG! Some of the others had enough sense to duck, but Molly and Arthur, sitting directly in front of the cake, were hit the worst. They were COVERED in pumpkin and raisin cake. “Well come on, share with us,” Frank said, roaring with laughter. |
30. OPPUGNO Seventh Year Molly The Gryffindor’s in the library looked up, curious. “Who said… WHO SAID THAT?” Arthur said, standing up and looking around, ignoring the glares from Pince. “Arthur, shush, just… let’s keep studying, okay?” Monty said. Not really knowing what they had heard, they all sat down. “What’s wrong Monty?” asked Molly, noticing her friend still looked awful. “You need to stop stressing so much, the exams will be over soon, but staying up and worrying all night isn’t helping.” “Mudbloods,” someone said, much louder this time. Molly noticed Monty’s head bow. Monty was muggle born, Molly knew, but obviously someone had been tormenting her. She stood up and walked around, finally looking behind the bookcase nearest them. There, crouched down, was Louell Carrow. “How dare you use such a disgusting, filthy name like that,” Molly said through her teeth. Louell cackled. “Who’s going to stop me? Mudblood lover like you? You bring shame upon purebloods.” “Oh, I will stop you!” “How? You and what mudblood army?” “OPPUGNO!” Molly yelled, waving her wand and sending books flying at Louell. “I don’t NEED an Army,” Molly spat, walking herself up to her Head of House’s office. |
16. IMPEDIMENTA Seventh Year Molly and Arthur Molly shrugged. “Well obviously I was going to be in trouble, so I figured I’d just confront it head on. Went to McGonagall and told her what I did, and she gave me detention and took 20 points. But she took 50 from Louell.” They all looked at her, and Monty stood up to hug her deeply. “What’s that for?” Molly asked. “You stood up for me, thank you. I could never have done that.” Molly smiled kindly, “Monty you’re my best friend, I’ll always stand up for you. By the way, what happened once I left?” “Oh, she tried to run after you with a murderous look on her face,” Arthur said. “Yeah, she really looked like she wanted to do more than punch you,” Frank said. “So what happened?” “Arthur here jinxed her with Impedimenta. It was so funny, she was trying so hard to run but it was in slow slow slow motion,” Alice said, laughing. Molly smiled at Arthur, who was trying to hold in a laugh, too. “Well I’m sure she’ll catch up to me sooner or later.” |
36. REDUCTO Seventh Year Arthur “REDUCTO,” they all yelled, pointing their wands at their crooked house. “NOOOO!” Arthur yelled, grabbing his own wand and trying to shield the house from the curse coming from Voldemort’s followers. There was a very big explosion as his shield failed, and his home exploded, falling to the ground. But a moment later, one blink, and it was back. Standing again. “REDUCTO!” He heard again, this time Molly stood in his way, pointing towards the ground near a tiny army of garden gnomes. Each gnome exploded, fine mist of dust blowing up into the death eater’s eyes, blinding them. But with a change in wind, Arthur was also blinded, arms extended trying to see where he was going… SMACK He woke up on the hard ground, hearing someone snickering nearby. “Fun dream there, old boy?” Frank asked, a few tears dripping down his laughing face. “That was bizarre,” Arthur said, the images of a tall crooked home sketched in his mind. |
5. COLLOPORTUS Seventh Year Molly Dear Arthur,Knock knock Molly tried to quickly roll her parchment up, but too late. Gideon had opened the door. “Molls, mother wan-what’s that? A love letter?” he teased? “GET OUT! COLLOPORTUS!” She shireked, mortified, swinging the door closed on Gideon’s face. |
42. SILENCIO Third Year Molly and Arthur The group of thirteen year olds had just finished exams, and were sitting by the lake relaxing finally! “Silencio,” Arthur said, pointing his wand at Frank. Frank eyed him, then opened his mouth. His mouth was moving, but nothing was coming out. The group let out a round of snickers. Even Frank was laughing, mutely. “Finally, a little peace and quiet,” Arthur observed. Molly eyed him playfully. “I don’t know the counter spell,” she said, mocking concern. Of course she did. “What a pity… I guess we will have to wait until we learn it,” Alice said. They all laughed, but Frank didn’t. He was trying to say something, though of course they didn’t know what. “Sorry, what’s that old boy? I can’t hear you,” Arthur chuckled. Rolling his eyes, he picked up a piece of paper, scribbling something on it. Molly looked at it. “You mean to tell us you don’t know how to cast a nonverbal spell?” “Oh, well if you can’t do something THAT simple, Frank, I’m not sure you deserve the counter spell,” Alice joked, elbowing him playfully. |
40. SONORUS Third Year Molly and Arthur “That wasn’t funny, guys!” Frank said, totally serious for a few seconds, before he laughed. His laugh amplified throughout the entire grounds of Hogwarts. The others were covering their ears. “What? Now I’m being too loud?” Frank asked, in what he had expressed in a normal voice. It seemed, howerver, that sonorous wasn’t the counter charm for Silencio. His voice had been greatly amplified, and being in such close proximity was, for the others, just like standing next to a speaker. Frank laughed again. “Why are you all so quiet? I didn’t take YOUR voices away! Oh ********, it’s McGonagall,” he said, trying to whisper but failing. She had heard. She wasn’t mad though. She merely shook her head and kept walking. “Well does anyone know the counter for this?” he asked. “Well I don’t know… it might be fun keeping your voice like this,” Arthur joked. “You could never have a quiet word with anyone…” Frank eyed Arthur. |
35. QUIETUS Third Year Molly and Arthur “Oh, fine,” Arthur said, rolling his eyes with a laugh. “Quietus,” he said, pointing his wand at Frank’s throat. “Better?” he asked. “I don’t – oh, yeah it is. Thanks,” he said, glad to have his own voice back to normal. “So what do you want to do? We can go swimming with the giant squid, or throw spit balls at Pringle… or see if Peeves will do it again? Blow up one of Moaning Myrtle’s toilets? Get Peeves to do it again?” “QUIETUS!” Molly hissed at him, seeing McGonagall approaching them. Had she heard Frank suggest things to do? “I had better not have heard correctly, Mr. Longbottom,” she said through pursed lips. She was mad. “Um… no Professor. I was just… we were just… we’re just relaxing, really. After… you know. After exams.” She shook her head, “If I so much as catch wind of you plotting those things next year, you will find yourself in detention every weekend,” she said crossly, walking away. The girls had their mouths open. Did he just get off the hook? The boys fell about laughing. |
37. RELASHIO Seventh Year Molly and Arthur Molly and Arthur turned around. There were no Professors. It was the two of them, now confronted against three Slytherins. “Just ignore them Arthur,” Molly whispered, trying to pull him along. “You too, Prewett. You and your family. Disgraceful!” they spat. “She turned around, pointing a finger at them. “Don’t go speaking about things you don’t understand, Malfoy. Why don’t you just sod off and get on with your silly dwellings in the dark arts whilst you can.” “Oh, my my, is that a threat? Do you speak to your mother with that mouth?” he asked, grabbing her wrist as she turned to walk away. “Don’t point your filthy finger at ME Prewett. You don’t want a sticky ending.” Arthur’s face was bright red, his eyes wide. “You let go of my girlfriend,” he said, angrily. Malfoy just laughed. His grip tightened. WHY were there no Professors? “Re-LASH-ee-oh,” Arthur said, pointing his wand at the hand grabbing onto Molly. It immediately released, Malfoy sneered. “You had better watch your back, mudblood lovers. Things are going to change soon.” |
44. STUPEFY Seventh Year Molly and Arthur It took her a while to figure out what to say, or how to say it, which was quite unlike her. “Professor Dumbledore worries that once you leave Hogwarts, you may be unable to protect yourselves sufficiently for what awaits you. He, as well as others, believe a war is brewing between the dark wizard and his opponents. So the other heads of houses, under Professor Dumbledore’s orders, have decided to give you some… help. We’re just going to teach you some more advanced protective and combative spells to help, in the unlikely event you will need to. First is the stunning spell Stupefy. You cast it correctly and the target is rendered unconscious. I want you to partner up and practice.” Molly and Arthur paired up, and by the end of the twenty minutes, they had both managed to succeed in casting the spell. McGonagall had revived them all as soon as the desired effects had occurred, so most of them had cast it successfully more than once. |
14. HORN TONGUE Sixth Year Arthur “Are your muggle loving kids going to attend one of those disgusting muggle school?” They were all laughing behind his back. He refused to turn around. Molly kept telling him to ignore them, which was what he was planning on doing. “Your filthy mudblood friends going to be in your wedding, Weasley? I doubt you would even qualify for a proper wedding.” “Hey Weasley, you’re such a muggle lover, I bet you and that plumpy red head have a bunch of filthy SQUIBS!” one shirieked. Oh, that was ENOUGH! Arthur, who had managed to learn a few nonverbal spells, turned around. The colour of his face matched his hair. “Don’t you dare insult my girlfriend or my friends,” and pointed his wand at Malfoy… the ringleader of the little group that always seemed to hunt him down to taunt him. His face broke into a smile as he turned around, running to the common room as fast as he could. He could hear the horn from two floors up. |
29. OBLIVIATE Sixth Year Molly “Sure, Monty. That sounds gr-” Molly started… “Oh look, it’s the mudblood and the muggle lover. How are you two doing? Just… thinking about joining the muggles are you?” Bellatrix taunted. “Just leave them alone Bella,” Andromeda said. Molly and Monty exchanged looks. They’d never really had anything to do with the two younger Black siblings, as they were much younger, but they had no idea the middle child opposed Bellatrix. “Andy shoosh, go away,” she hissed at her younger sister, who frowned at her and walked away. “Looks like your own sister is embarrassed about your appalling attitude and behaviour,” Monty said. “Don’t speak to ME, mudblood. I’M pureblood!” Bellatrix spat. “How DARE you speak to a fellow witch like that! You just watch yourself, Black, or I will OBLIVIATE YOU!” Molly fumed. Bellatrix looked stunned for a moment, as if Molly actually had obliviated her memory. Then she hissed at them and sulked off. “Pesky newt,” Molly muttered, trying to calm her racing heart. “Thank you Molly. You’re such a good friend,” Monty said, giving her a hug. |
4. BLASTING CURSE Seventh Year Molly and Arthur “But what am I supposed to practice on? I can’t exactly practice it on anything in here, can I?” Molly stood thinking for a moment. Well, no he couldn’t. “Come on,” she said, leading him out of the common room. “We’re not going to practice on those Slytherins, are we?” he said, feigning hope. He didn’t want to get in trouble… “No of course not,” Molly said, almost snappishly. “There are plenty of things to use on the outskirts of the Forest.” “But not inside, right?” Molly smiled. Was he scared? “Con-FREEN-go,” she said, pointing her wand at a large rock lying by the entrance of the forest. Arthur watched as the rock exploded into little pieces, falling at their feet like dust. “Wow. Remind me never to get on your bad side,” he said, giving her an admiring smile. “You only just thought that then?” she asked, a laugh playing up the corners of her mouth. |
21. LANGLOCK Seventh Year Molly “Miss. Prewett, I ask that you explain what happened.” His voice was soft. He didn’t sound angry, but he definitely wasn’t pleased. Of course, who would be? Professor Gallows had unfortunately chosen that moment to walk around the corner, without having heard the conversation prior to it. She didn’t know, and she didn’t care, but Molly knew Dumbledore would. HE was fair. Molly explained the argument she had between a certain group of Slytherins. It was all becoming a bit ridiculous, they wouldn’t leave her, or her friends alone. “So… I Langlocked him.” She shrugged. “He wouldn’t stop, like I asked him to, so I did it for him.” |
38. RICTUSEMPRA Second Year Molly and Arthur “Ric-t, tic-t… tic-tuh,” Arthur tried to say, pointing his wand at Frank, who was pointing his wand at Molly, who was also pointing her wand at Frank. “Ric-tuh-SEM-pra,” she managed to say in one breath, firing the charm at Frank, who looked like he was about to choke from laughter. Their faces were bright red, some even purple, and tears were streaming down all of their eyes as they watched. The second year Gryffindors and Ravenclaws were certainly enjoying the new spell. “C-class,” The Professor stuttered, wiping the tears from his eyes so he could address the class. The students started to settle down, with only a few giggles happening every now and then. “Your homework tonight is to write ten inches about how the spell Rictusempra could be used in a duel.” |
Mini Challenge #8 – Find The Snowman Molly and Arthur He was looking in one direction, thinking he had seen something, then looked forward again. Must have been seeing things. NEXT MINUTE “ARGH!” he yelled, dropping the bundle in his arms, his body being flipped. It seemed he was hanging upside down by his ankles. Molly started laughing, then let him down. But she was laughing so hard he just toppled down into the snow. When he managed to find his way up, he was covered in snow, causing Molly to erupt in another fit of giggles. “MOLLYWOBBLES!” he yelled, pretending to be cross. He marched right over to her and tickled her, before giving her a kiss. “You look like a snowman!” She laughed. |
32. PETRIFICUS TOTALUS Fourth Year Molly and Arthur Professor Gallows paused a moment and nodded, looking at the young Lion student. “Of course I can, Miss. Prewett. But you can’t tell me you don’t know about it?” the emphasis on you. Molly swallowed. And shrugged. Of course she knew. This would teach her not to play truth or dare. It was a ridiculous muggle game Monty had wanted them to play. “Anyone?” A few hands raised, and she called on Arthur. “It’s a curse, innit?” he said. Gallow’s lips pursed. “Well that’s obvious Mr. Weasley. Anyone else?” “It causes the body to bind, I think… I’m sure that’s what it does,” Frank said, his face going red from trying so hard not to laugh. “And um… you know I think your body sort of freezes, dun’t it?” Monty added, a fake look of confusion on her face. Gallows wasn’t stupid. “Detention. You four. Don’t waste my time in class,” she snapped, turning back to the front of the class to continue talking about werewolves. |
32. UNBREAKABLE VOW Seventh Year Molly and Arthur “I’m certain. I was sort of… hiding behind one of the statues and heard them talking about it,” Arthur explained. He wasn’t about to tell her he was hiding in a secret passage quite near the Slytherin common room, but by the piercing look she was giving him, he was sure she had an inkling. “What’s the big deal?” Monty asked. Of course they had never spoken about the Unbreakable Vow in classes. McGonagall gave a glance towards her and said “It’s a wizarding promose, but like the name suggests… it cannot be broken. If it is broken, death is the result.” “Geez, that’s pretty morbid. Arthur, do you know what the context was?” Monty asked, feeling quite disgusted. “Well they just said they didn’t say what the promise was, or who it involved, they just said when they left Hogwarts they had to make the Unbreakable Vow with someone because it was their duty to do a job, or something, and they said even if they refuse to make the vow, or even do the job, they’ll be killed.” |
15. HURLING HEX First Year Molly and Arthur “Wow, this is so exciting,” Monty said, sitting on the very edge of her seat. “Flying doesn’t look that scary, does it? Maybe I won’t be so terrible at it after all.” She had just finished saying that when she gasped, along with everyone else in the stands, and everyone on the Ravenclaw quidditch team. All except Latia Lorenzo, who had been hurled from her broom and was lying as a crumpled mess on the ground. They were all scanning around, trying to make sense of what had just happened. It was very obvious, one could not mistake the grins on the Slytherin team’s face. It was them who had hexed a fellow quidditch player. |
27. MUFFLIATO Fifth Year Arthur “She just walked out without acknowledging it,” Arthur told Frank. The flowers hadn’t worked. Frank looked confused, “That doesn’t make sense. I was sure she would have leapt into your arms, gushing about you,” he said with a crooked, joking smile. “Shove off. But really, I thought she liked me.” Frank shrugged, “She does, mate. You’d have to be blind not to see it.” “But I can’t see it. And what if she can’t?” Another shrug, “Well you’re both blind, obviously.” Molly looked over at them, gave Arthur a half smile, then returned to her work. “See mate? She’s bat eye for you. Just give her the summer to think about you and if she’s not confessed her undying love for you by the end of the welcoming feast I’ll do something about it. Yeah?” Arthur smiled, knowing full well he actually would! “Okay, deal.” |
13. FLAGRATE After Hogwarts Molly and Arthur Arthur cleared his throat, and Molly looked at him. “Are you okay?” she asked. He nodded, opened his mouth and closed it. A week later, he went to pick her up to take her to dinner. The ring was in his pocket. His palms were sweaty. Molly was lovely. He kissed her on the cheek, and they side-along apparated to the alleyway near Diagon Alley. He had made reservations in The Levitating Restaurant, but before he went up he pulled her into the darkness. She giggled, “What are we going this way for, Art?” “Just wait a bit, hang on,” he said, pulling out his wand and turning his back to Molly, who was very curious. “fla-GRA-tay,” he whispered, whipping his wand around in the dark, hoping it wasn’t aimless. He closed his eyes, turned around and bent down on one knee, the ring now open in his pocket, and the firey blazing Marry Me Molly written in the air. “OH Arthur,” Molly shireked happily, her hands covering her mouth in surprise. “YES OF COURSE!” She yelled, as he slipped the ring onto her finger. |
