Gryffindor Table

For those who belong in Gryffindor House, on the left side of the Great Hall is where your table awaits. Red banners containing an embroidered golden lion float above the polished table in honour of the brave Godric Gryffindor. Already placed on the tables are silver plates with accompanying cutlery and goblets. All that is missing right now are the mountains of food and pitchers containing your favourite beverages.

Though your stomach might be growling as you take a seat on one of the long benches next to the table, it is important to not get hangry -- gnawing your arm away or jabbing your fork repeatedly on the surface of the table will do no good whatsoever. Give everyone some time to get settled in and wait for Headmaster Winterbottom to deliver his speech. Keep yourself preoccupied by catching up with your fellow housemates or those who are visiting from the other tables until it is time to sink your teeth into the hearty and delicious meal prepared by the house-elves.

Bounce, bounce, bounce!

Yep, there was a spring in each of Iddy’s steps as he made his way towards the Gryffindor Table with Paully. Despite this being both of their last year at Hogwarts, the Little Yellow Lion Hood was ready to take on life’s next adventures! Of course he would be engaging in them with Paully, so that made him even more eager for the very near future. As for tonight's attire, it made him a tad sad that he hadn't brought along yellow robes. The feeling only heightened when he looked towards the Hufflepuff Table for Zenny {or would she stop by because of Diego?} But! A promise had been made to Paul at the Start of Term feast that there would be no more wearing the ‘incorrect’ robes. And promises MUST be kept.

“Seems like we're a bit on the early side,’’ Idris observed, as he adjusted himself comfortably on the bench. No worries! He had much to tell the boyfriend. “Nessy told me he’ll miss Hogwarts. And playdates with Catpuccino and the other kneazle-cats.” His poor Nessy!

Vi was actually a few paces behind Idris and Paul. This meant that he took a seat at the Table almost at the same moment that they did. He fully well heard Idris comment about that Nesquik of his but it hadn’t fully registered just yet. Not when he was busy scanning the Slytherin Table for Feliks. “Cat Whisperer powers still going strong then?” he asked eventually, settling in and registering things that were happening around him. “Hi, Paul. Had a good year overall?”

You know who had an EXCELLENT year?

This soon-to-be-former first year!

Eloy had made a decent amount of friends, had gotten to know the Castle and grounds well, had been decent at lessons… and beginning this instant, he was going to just chill. No homework, no practise of any sort for the next month at least. He and his brain deserved a rest! Not to mention he needed to enjoy his very first end of term feast! These were his important thoughts as he flopped himself down at the Table to savour the happenings in the Great Hall.

Marina had made a decision before she ever stepped through the doors of the Great Hall.

Tonight, she was going to be normal.

Not Marina normal, which admittedly involved a certain amount of volume, but normal normal - you know? Like just... normal. Quiet. Unremarkable. A perfectly ordinary student attending a perfectly ordinary end-of-term feast without giving anyone a reason to look twice in her direction.

Her eyes moved carefully over the Gryffindor table, searching for familiar faces without lingering too obviously on anyone. When she caught someone's eye, she offered a small smile and a polite nod. Someone else received a little wave. Another got an answering smile that was perhaps a touch too enthusiastic before Marina remembered herself and immediately toned it back down.

Because the category was: low key.

And, most importantly, no scenes.

She had already had enough of those to last several lifetimes. Her gaze swept the table again as she settled down.

Please, Merlin.

Let CJ be somewhere else.

Preferably somewhere very else.

The other end of the table would be acceptable. Another house table would be better. Another country would be ideal, although perhaps that was asking rather a lot of the universe.

She glanced around again.

Smile.

Nod.

Eat.

Do not cause a scene.

She could practically hear Professor Cox's voice in the back of her head, which was not particularly helpful, but at least it reinforced the importance of the final instruction.

Her shoulders loosened by a fraction. Maybe this could actually work. Maybe she could simply sit here, eat something spectacularly unhealthy, listen to everyone talk, and make it through the entire evening without becoming the evening's entertainment.

When the Headmaster finally rose to begin his speech, Marina felt a small, almost ridiculous wave of relief.

Because this meant the feast was nearly over.

She could do this. Then she could go back to her dorm, collapse into bed, and sleep until she no longer remembered what day it was. And tomorrow, finally, she could go home. Just one more night.
