What the heck kind of food should he get? There were too many options and Jimmy didn't much feel like carrying a bunch of bugs with him. Pellets? Yes?

Hang on, were those bugs alive?

He moved closer to inspect the jars.

He really had to get a new cage for Bullet. The little owl was not happy in his old cage and an unhappy owl was a noisy and annoying owl.

He walked down the isles and his face fell when he saw how high up the cages were. He was either going to have to ask for help to get them down or climb up the shelves. And he knew how much trouble that could get you in.

Ella had entered the store to find food for her owl. She had been walking in the general direction she saw the food was, when something grabbed her attention from behind, she looked but kept walking, and ended up smacking right into someone.

"Whoa!" Ella exclaimed, looking up to see who it was. It was a guy, just looking slightly older than her. She pushed her brown hair out of her face and blushed. "I-I'm sorry," she said apologetically. She seemed to have knocked him into some jars. She hoped he was alright.

Oh hey. It was that little guy, from out on the street. Jimmy was about to say hello, and had smiled at him when all the wind suddenly got knocked out of him.

He stumbled back crashing into some jars on the shelves, though luckily they didn't fall, just shook as if an earthquake had hit. Because RAWR obviously Jimmy was manly like an earthquake. *mental!flex*

"I'm okay. Are you?" He rubbed his shoulder where she'd smacked into him and grinned sheepishly.

Good. He was smiling.

Ella grinned back at him with the same smile. "Yeah, I'm fine," she replied, feeling bad for having not seen where she was going. "So, what are you shopping for? Well.. if I haven't destroyed what you were looking to buy," she said with a small chuckle, scrutinizing the jars to make sure not too many were broken.

"Owl.... food." Jimmy looked at all the jars and frowned. "You reckon owls like variety in their diets? I mean, mine never complained before or anything, and I always thought it only ate those pellet things. Don't some of them eat mice and whatnot? Do they even sell mice here? I'm sooo out of my depth." He grinned and scratched his head.

After finding the right owl Feenella went trough all the shelves with owl stuff.
She found food and some toys for her owl.
this is gonna be so cool.

"Same here," Ella said, looking over at the jars full of the food she usually strolled past for owl food. "Well, I guess it kind of depends on the owl," she shrugged. "Mine isn't very picky. But if yours likes something new once in a while," she shrugged again. "You could try it. If your owl ends up liking it, good, if not, oh well. But to be on the safe side.."

Ella had the impression she was confusing him.

Not being able to suppress a small giggle, she said, "My owl hasn't had mice before. I think I'll stick to these pellets." She pointed to a smaller jar in the back which had been hidden from view, and, thankfully, not destroyed.

Aww. He was grinning now. Vanessa smiled too, because she knew that Jake was happy. "You're too cute Jakeey." Vanessa giggled, as she grinned at him. "I'll find some parchment and right it down for you." She nodded at him. Yup. So he could come see her, because she'd really like that.

"Peter Pan." She stuck her tongue out at him. Jakey really brought out her youth. hehe. "I like you remaining young. Then I dont feel so old."

^_____________^

That was Jake's face when he was called cute.

Well, not literally. But... yeah. YEAH.

"Okay," Jake nodded, and turned his attention to his huuuuuge bags of candy, bags so big that one would have thought he'd gone on a spree in Madam Malkins...

Which he did actually need to do...

"You're nnnnot old, Vannie," the boy said in surprise when she spoke, looking back up. "You ssstill look, like, ruh-really yyyyoung."

Vanessa actually giggled as he said that she wasn't old. Well she might have actually been that old, she wasn't even 21 yet, but she sure did feel old. She'd gone through too much, most definetly, especially considering that she'd never seen herself with kids when she wasn't even 20. "Thats nice of you to say Jakey." Vannie smiled was she lean over to press a kiss to his cheek. He was too cute.

"I may look young but I feel older...than I should." Vanessa shook her head, as she summonded a peice of parchment so that she could write her address for him. "Thats what having a one year old does to you." And a boyfriend who couldn't look after kids at all.

With a few shopping bags full of supplies she'd need for school, Lexi Carlton made her way into Eeylop's Owl Emporium. She couldn't spend all her money on herself, now could she? Poor little Apollo was in dire need of some treats, and Lexi would feel absolutely terrible for turning up at the house without a few stick insects or a maybe a green fly.

Speaking of which, ...ew. Stick insects and green flies? Lexi was glad she hadn't been born an owl. She'd starve to death! She made a slight face at a jar of flies just before glancing up a few shelves. Oh! Owl pellets---those seemed normal enough. That's what Apollo would get, too---a nice packet of non-disgusting owl pellets.

Cameron didn't particularly like Owls or any sort of animal for that matter. She'd had a cat once and when her Percy had died she'd sort of built up an unconscious loathing for animals. They pecked you, bit you, stalked you and.. they were just creepy. So she was in here only to buy treats. The school owls were a LOT more obliging when you handed them a treat before you asked them to do anything. Some of them were a little on the pudgy side and practically needed to get pushed out of the window.

She wove her way through the store, keeping her head down. The faster she got in and out the better. The owls were looking at her creepily. She made her way towards the treats section and saw her Charms Professor. Er.. awkward. Professors seen in the DA. Perhaps she'd ask about that piece of homework that had elusively disappeared.. erm..

"Haaaaiii Professor.." Cameron greeted in what she hoped was a bright voice. Perhaps she could distract her and just grab them and run?

That wouldn't be weird.. right?

Lexi had been on her tip toes and just about ready to make a grab for one of the nearby pellet packets, when she heard someone call her name. Well, not exactly her name...her title, but she still knew that whoever it was calling out Professor was calling for her.

Unless some other professor had suddenly walked in, but seeing as she'd just glanced up and down the aisles and seen no other staff member at Hogwarts, it was safe to say that yes, she was the Professor. Abandoning all thoughts the owl pellets she reaching for, Lexi turned around to see none other than the Gryffindor girl who would be serving as one of the house prefects this school year. "Oh, Miss Caddock! It's good to see! How's your summer been?" she asked.

Once again, she made a grab for the owl pellets, this time actually getting a hold of a packet and managing to keep it in her hands as she lowered herself down from her tip toe stance. "I'm glad you decided to take me up on my offer, too. I'm looking forward to a really nice school year," she added.

keepmeclose22 08-16-2010 02:01 AM

"Ok open your eyes" Pamphylia opened her eyes, to find herself in front of Eeylops.
"I can get an owl!?!?!" She squeeled with delight. Her mother nodded.
"Go pick one out. Here's some money." She handed her the coins. "Make sure you pick out a cage and some food." Pamphylia didn't even say goodbye, she ran into the store. But wasn't watching where she was going for she ran into someone.

Cameron had really wished she could've just ran in and ran out. But it seemed, as per usual, merlin had it in for her. So she pulled up a smile from the depths of her scowly persona and nodded. "You too Professor Carlton." And it kinda was. Of all her classes, Charms was the funnest. Then again.. Cam found the class on the easier side and so she participated more actively.

Summer..? Eh. That was a long and rather boring reply to what Cam considered the teacher had wanted to be a polite conversation starter and so she just shrugged. "Hot. I'm looking forward to going back to school.." Man, that sounded so cheesy and Prefectorial!Girl/ish. When she'd gotten the letter she'd almost fainted. She'd always teased Torin about his position 'cos in her opinnion it meant she couldn't have fun anymore.

Now she was stuck with it. She sighed. Whoever had decided to give HER Prefectanship must've ignored her slightly scary moments and found something nice in her.
Funny that.. cos there wasn't much of it. She smiled though, as Miss Carlton mentioned it. "Well.. it would be rude to decline, right?" 'Cos it was all sought after and wanted. Still.. she'd have to deal with crying first years for a whole term. Cameron didn't exactly like children.

Now it seemed it was her turn to continue the conversation. Um.. "So.. how was your summer, Professor?" It seemed kind of a personal question when voiced in reverse but she couldn't think of anything else. What DID Professors do in the holidays? Cameron had always fancied them sitting in libraries planning lessons for all their lives.. but maybe they got out.. saw some sunshine.. did .. stuff?

Eyeing the packet Miss Carlton had chosen, Cam reached to take the smaller box when she felt something slam into her.

EEEEEEEEP.

The pellets flew from her hand, dropping and scattering all over the floor and the red-head (un-coordinated as she was), scrambled, tripped and fell flat on her face onto the carpeted floor.

"I'm James Wilkes." He added. "Sorry I was... you know, in your way." hehe.

Ever-Lily simply loved owls. So useful, and so cute. Her mother and father had a family owl as the family pet, but now that Ever and Demitri were going to Hogwarts, they were each going to buy an owl. Ever and Demi walked side by side, looking at different owls.

They both stopped walking at the exact same time, Ever was looking at the owl in the cage directly beside the one Demi was looking at. The owls looked almost exactly the same - dark brown with white spots. "I'll call you Sue." Whispered Ever-Lily, smiling. Picking up the cage carefully, she and Demitri went to pay.

Ella laughed. "Whatever you think," she chuckled. It would be best to leave him the decision and not confuse him any more, yes.

"I wonder if they sell mice here. For owls, anyway.. do owls eat mice? I've actually never seen one eat them.." Was she back on this again? Groan. She was talking too much. There would probably be mice somewhere else in the store. She decided to stray from the subject and just introduce herself like he did.

"Nice to meet you," she said with a smile, extending her hand, "I'm Ella Westwick. What year are you in?" she asked.

He'd ask at the counter about mice, he figured. "They mostly are nocturnal right? So, wouldn't they mostly eat at night?" He wasn't sure. Not an owl expert by any means.

He'd take some pellets from here and call that square.

"Nice to meet you too Ella, I'm going into my 5th year. I guess you're at Hogwarts? I'm only starting there this term." It'd make an interesting change from tutors that was for sure.

Vanessa smiled at Jakey, ruffling his hair. He really was a little cutie. "Your mum would be proud of you." She nodded, as she smiled. She should know, she did see his Mum a lot.

"Yup." Vanessa nodded, as she waved her hand, summoning a photo. "She looks like Miles." She commented sadly, as she showed him the picture. She still loved her little girl. "I'll have to make sure she's at home when you come...." She knew her little girl would love to meet Uncle Jakey. hehe.

"I'm going into my fourth. Yeah, I've been there for four years now," she explained. So he was starting there this term, eh? "Ooh, cool. Are you a transfer?" That was usually the cause of many people coming between years. "What house are you in? I'm in Gryffindor.. do you know yours yet?" she asked curiously. She wondered how the school sorted people who transferred into Hogwarts later on.

"I have no idea what house I'm gonna be in. I reckon Gryffindor sounds pretty awesome though. I've had tutors all my life, at home and whatever. My mother reckoned it wasn't safe to send me to Hogwarts. Something about werewolves and floods and duelling?" Jimmy didn't care much, though he'd heard some things about the past few years at Hogwarts, the ones that he'd have experienced had he started as a firstie.

"So I guess you've probably got a lot of friends and all, and probably a boyfriend right?" James grinned at Ella and casually threw the box of pellets from one hand to the other.

Ohhh, tutors? That was a first. And a nice change from hearing about Beauxbatons and Durmstrang transfers as well. "Gryffindor is awesome," Ella agreed. Best house at Hogwarts, in her opinion. She laughed. Floods and werewolves? "Yeah, I guess those could be a turnoff. She changed her mind, then?" she asked with a smile. Hmm.. probably because he was older now, she thought.

At his next question, she was a bit surprised. Many people didn't have the nerve to ask her, or anyone else for that matter, straight out. She admired his confidence; some guys she met were beyond shy. "A lot of friends, I guess I'll have to say yes," she said with a grin that reflected his, then continued, "But a boyfriend? Not right now, no." Heh. She fiddled around with her own pellets, thinking whether she should take another box or not. Love was a very hungry owl sometimes.
