Note: I shall skim through the first five years of Hogwarts, but they are kinda needed to understand the plot. Also, Charlie Weasley's and Percy Weasley's ages are changed (as in OSL).

Chapter One: Hogwarts
I received the letter, and to celebrate being a witch, my parents and I were going to London to have a delicious dinner, we were taking the train, and then it crashed, I barely survived, I believe it was the magic in me that helped me survive.. But they didn't, they died. I was placed in an orphanage, but less then a month later, some people came and adopted me, they said they would pay for my school fare, they were witches and wizards, and they wanted me to replace their recently lost daughter, Daphne Greengrass. I felt so bad that they were trying to replace their dead daughter with me. You couldn't replace family like that, it wasn't fair. Now I am apparently known as Hermione Jean Isabelle Daphne Greengrass, and only the first two names actually belong to me.. And today I'm boarding the Hogwarts Express and heading off to my future as a witch.
I stared out the window of the compartment I was resting in, bored, I opened a book and began reading it, the happened to be Hogwarts a History. Next thing I knew someone had sheepishly knocked on the door to the compartment, it was the same boy I had helped to get in to the station." Er, sorry to interrupt you, I.. I'll just go." He mumbled blushing a faint red, nervously playing with the long black bangs that hung in his face.
" No it's okay, you can sit here." I said, giving him a faint smile, which he returned as he sat down across from me, still rather nervous." Hermione Gr-Greengrass." I stuttered briefly, nearly forgetting my new surname.
" Harry Potter." My eyes grew twice the regular size and the flitted up to his forehead, I could barely make out the lightning bolt shaped scar, conveniently obscured by his messy black hair. I then realized my mouth was hanging a gape and I was staring, quickly I mumbled an apology." It's alright, I've been getting a few stares recently, I guess they'll die down quickly." I nodded in false agreement, he was Harry Potter, they wouldn't fade fast. I couldn't help but notice that he was already in his school robes.
Suddenly, someone interrupted rather suddenly and rudely mind you, he had slicked back platinum blonde hair, piercing grey eyes and rather pointy features." Who are you two?" His tone was extremely unpleasant, and I felt like we wouldn't get along in the slightest.
" I'm Hermione Greengrass, and this is Harry Potter, what does it matter to you?" I spat at him in the same exact tone, an eye for an eye. He seemed surprised for some reason and rather taken aback, clearly he didn't realize he was going to be addressed the way he was.
" I'm Draco Malfoy." He sat down next to me, much to my discomfort, and causing me to continue to give him my infamous evil eye.
" To say it was a pleasure to meet you would be a lie." I snapped at him, and turned back to my book.
" Wha-.. I'm sorry, if I came across as rude when I first came in." He finally said, and I raised both my eyebrows at him skeptically." What? What more do you want?"
" Apology accepted, but that doesn't make me dislike you less." I replied coolly, really trying to get in to my book once more.
" I didn't say it to make you dislike me less!" Draco protested and that made me snap Hogwart's A History shut, and turn to face him once more.
" Then why did you say it?" I shot at him, once more glaring daggers in his direction.
" I did it so you'd stop giving me your evil looks, but it seems that didn't even that work." He sighed, glowering at me.
" My evil looks? You were the one being rude!" I cried angrily at him.
" I apologized!" His face was turning rather red now.
" Whoa, can you two calm down please?" Harry spoke up meekly, I went beet red, forgetting he was still in the room.
" Sorry Harry, Malfoy.." I muttered sitting down, which was strange because I didn't remember standing up.
The rest of the trip was pretty decent, Draco and I simply ignored each other, and we liked it that way. We arrived at Hogwarts safely, and trudged up the shore were this gigantic looking thing with a big hairy beard, hubby fingers and wearing a patched up coat, told us to board the mini boats, four wizards or witches to each. Harry, Draco, a girl with a babbling mouth who I believed to be named Lavender Brown, and I all hopped on to one.
" And the other day my friend and I were looking at the variant colors of lipstick and she just wanted to go with a plain looking one and I told her she should be more drastic and get something like blue or purple, that would make her really stick out and look plain gorgeous. I, on the other hand always look amazingly beautiful, nothing to be compared with her. Oh and what houses do you think you will be getting in?" She would NOT stop talking, I swear. And then I realized she had asked us all questions.
" Slytherin." Was Draco's automatic reply.
" I don't know, or really care." Harry and I chorused, I glanced at him and chuckled.
" It would be really pathetic if you got yourself in to Hufflepuff you know, that's were all the rejects go." Draco sneered.
" Actually, I would like to be Gryffindor." I finally said, glaring daggers at Draco, who, once more, looked taken aback.
" Gryffindor doesn't sound to bad.." Harry mumbled, it seemed he had no earthly idea what he was getting in to.
" Gryffindor and Slytherin, are sworn enemies ever since Godric Gryffindor and Salzar Slytherin began the first great war, Godric supported the mingling of muggle and wizarding families, Salzar did not, he believed that only wizards would be allowed to marry other wizards. Obviously the dispute between them grew, and then the war started." I recited at top speed." Godric, Salzar and two others, Helga Hufflepuff and Rowena Ravenclaw, were the founders of Hogwarts, the first wizarding school ever to be officially founded. They worked together in peace and harmony for one hundred-and-fifty-three years."
" Are you sure you aren't going in to Ravenclaw?" Lavender's eyes were wide open, as was her mouth, but no sound was coming from it, thankfully." I mean your really, really smart."
" Not really, and Harry, you seem a little lost. Gryffindor is for those who are brave and courageous at heart, Ravenclaw is for those who are gifted with the traits of wisdom and knowledge. Hufflepuff for those who are loyal, caring and kind. Slytherin for those who are slick and cunning." I explained to the completely lost raven-haired boy.
" Ohhhh, okay.. I still don't care, as long as I get sorted." He laughed nervously.
" Your Harry Potter. You WILL get sorted!" Lavender exclaimed, and I just rolled my eyes." I mean, you are here after all, you'll get sorted sure enough."
" Look, I can see the shore!" I suddenly called out. And sure enough we soon landed and made our way up to Hogwarts, in to a long hallway.
" MY TOAD!" Someone yelped, and dived in front of us, shrieking, I jumped in to Draco, who fell on to some red-haired boy, unfortunately for us a strict looking woman had chosen that moment to enter the great hall." I'm so, sorry! Please forgive me!" The boy mumbled, not noticing her.
" Ow, yea, um, it's okay, honestly." I said picking myself up.
" If you are done with your foolish antics, please follow me in a moment, to where it will be determined which house each of you belong to."
The sorting, I must confess, was both interesting and boring. I, obviously, didn't know a single person there and I was hardly listening to the names anymore." Greengrass, Hermione." I waited for the person to go up, and then I realized that it was me, under my new name. Clearing my throat silently, I went up to the stool, and after a second or so, it shouted out.
" RAVENCLAW!" Getting up, I joined the clapping Blue and Bronze decorated table, smiling triumphantly. The toad boy was sorted in to Gryffindor, Draco went to Slytherin and Harry soon followed him to the Green and silver table. The school year was about to start!
