A Love Worth Waiting For - Sa16+ Disclaimer: The HP universe belongs to J. K Rowling. Chapter 1 The Forget Me Not Harry’s first days back with the Dursley’s before his 7th year were his least pleasant. Dudley had long since stopped growing tall yet continued to grow wide and the Mr. and Mrs. Dursley had somehow managed to grow even more crass and cold. He tried as he might to avoid the Dursley’s at all cost, and spent his first few days wandering about Privet Drive with his thoughts full of Ginny. She was his love. Nay, even more so than that, he dared to consider her his true love, his soul mate. Even if those titles had always seemed irrational to him. And he missed everything about her. He missed her laugh, and her lips and wanted nothing more than to see her smiling face. Her smile alone would always wipe away any fears Harry had. And of late, there were many fears arising in his mind. But for these few days, he would not think of what looms ahead. He focused all his thoughts on Ginny. His thoughts always rested on her silky lips that he longed for more than ever. As hard as it was he knew that it was best to stay out of contact with her so she came to no harm, he loved her too much to let anything ever happen to her. He would never stop blaming himself if she were hurt. Day by Day his heart raced at the very thought of her and her creamy white skin. And on more than one occasion his thoughts rested on her glittering eyes for hours. At night he would lay awake thinking, and when his thoughts finally subsided and his mind relaxed he would dream of the two of them in a small meadow surrounded by forget-me-nots, watching the sun rise. Ginny would tilt her head towards Harry and sweetly say,” Oh Harry, our love is like this morning, So beautiful and pure.” Then the rest of the dream would become fuzzy, and Harry would awaken remembering Ginny uttering, “Forget me not Harry, forget me not.” This dream left him awake until daybreak on more than one occasion. He didn’t know how to take that dream. Of course he would never forget Ginny. How could he? She was one of the few people that kept him sane. It made him wonder if he had made a mistake, leaving Ginny so. He would like nothing more than to stay with her, and to be able to talk to her and hear her sweet voice. Days went by, followed by more sleepless nights. Each was gloomier than the last. Harry could not help but to feel desolate. Early one morning, after yet another night of tossing and turning, Harry arose and crossed to the window, in hopes to see his uncles car gone, or some interesting sight on Privet Drive. But to his surprise he saw neither, but rather a small dot in the horizon. This he had seen far too often and knew it to be an owl. For this he was thankful, he had yet to receive any letters since arriving at the Dursley’s and he hoped this would provide and explanation as to why. Not only that but he was worried about his friends as well as Ginny. When the owl flew through the window, he snatched the parcel from its beak and tore it open, completely disregarding the Weasley’s exhausted owl. Once he realized it was from the Weasley’s his hopes soared. He had hoped it was a letter from Ginny. He removed the letter from the envelope, unfolded it and immediately realized that this was not Ginny’s script. His hopes dropped slightly but he read on. It read: Dear Harry, We hope all is well in lieu of recent events. We all know that this summer must have been the hardest on you so far, and for your safety, as well as your sanity we wish for you to finish out the remainder of your summer here with us. There are way’s my dear, and we shall find one! Yours, M.W. The evasiveness of this letter told Harry there was something Mrs. Weasley didn’t want anyone to find out, and right fully so. By now Voldemort had death eaters intercepting the owls. Harry sat down feeling confused, about what might happen next, but also nervous with anticipation about what he may expect to happen within the next few days. From the corner of his room an owl hooted and he realized Errol was still waiting for something. With a raised brow, Harry crossed the room, flipped the piece of parchment over scribbled “Yes.” Rolled the parchment up, and tied it to the weary bird. The owl then rose into the air and set off towards the Burrow. After the owl was out of sight, Harry crossed back to his bed and laid down. His thoughts rested on this new letter and then to Ginny. He quivered. How awkward would it be around Ginny? After all they did love each other. Harry would have to be strong to stay away from her, it was best after all. His eyes began to shut, and Ginny’s voice flooded his head. “Forget me not Harry, forget me not.” |
