DISPLAY WANDS ARE NOT FOR SALE.
Please see a wandmaker for assistance if you wish to purchase a wand.

WANDLORE REFERENCE BOOKS ARE NOT FOR SALE.
Please see the books available for purchase at the counter.

NO FOOD OR PETS PERMITTED PAST THIS POINT.
OR ELSE.

Entering the shop, you'll notice a cozy little area to the left, filled with a couple of sturdy and actually pleasant looking chairs in front of the rather large window with a rug underfoot. From here you can watch the chaos of children being matched with their first wands. Tea and coffee is available for parents while they wait for their children to be matched with their wands. There is a display of wands here in a glass case, some of them once owned by famous witches and wizards and labelled as such. Recognize any names? That's fine, but don't touch. They are part of a personal collection, on loan to Ollivanders, and are not for sale. There is also a display of holsters, polishes, and other bits and pieces. To one side there is an old brass wand-weighing machine, which will, if you place your wand on the scale and place a sickle in the coin slot, spit out a slip of parchment with your wand's specifications on it. It has been modified further however, to add recommendations of products that ought to be used on said wand such as the very polishes, oils, and rubs that just so happen to be on display. Nearby is a shelf of books on wand-related topics, also on loan to Ollivanders. You are permitted to read them if you like, but they are not for sale. If you attempt to take them out of the store they will snap at your fingers, so be warned.

Quote:

OOC: You may make your own role plays here. Your characters may chat to one another or wait for a friend to be helped at the counter. Please note that this area is in view of the counter and the wandmakers can see what you are doing, so be sure your character does not cause trouble or they'll kick your character out! This is an unmanned thread and if you require shopkeeper interaction, you'll need to post them at the Counter and Wand Fittings area.

for Amy/Colin

When it came to things like clothes, shoes, and wand holsters, Jake wasn't wholly fond of buying new things. Since he'd stopped growing all those years back, the clothes and shoes weren't much of a problem anymore. But Jake had been using the same wand holster since he was thirteen or fourteen years old. His dad... Marcus... whatever he wanted to call him, had insisted he use one, and since then he'd worn it basically every day.

EXCEPT... now it was dead. Battered and broken and falling apart and not even magic could keep it fixed for very long. So Jake was reluctantly giving in and off to buy a new one. SIGH.

He stepped into Ollivanders, automatically thinking back to the last time he'd come in here, years and years and years ago. Jake was perhaps so distracted by thinking of this and by staring around looking for the holsters, that he wasn't quite paying attention to where he was walking.

And trod right on someone's foot.

LilFox06 04-04-2015 06:33 AM

Colin couldn't get mad at the dogs. Really, it was his fault that his holster looked exactly like the dog's chew toy. It was really poor decision making on his part. The fact that he was always around the dragon's food only made the situation more predictable.

Anyway, new holster. Where were those? He stood near the entrance looking around. It looked like there were off to the -

"Ouch." he said at the sudden pain in his foot. He took a step backwards and glanced at the responsible party.

Mama Ern

Bastien Toussaint was on his BEST behavior today. They'd been in Diagon Alley for at least ten minutes, and not once did he try to ditch his mother. The itch was there, hence the tapping against his leg and bounce in his step as they passed by shop after shop, but he STAYED by her side, so that counted for something, right? Bast thought so.

He was even holding her hand because today was the day that he would FINALLY get his wand. Ever since he'd turned eleven, he'd been counting down the days. His very own wand. He would actually get to practice all the spells he'd learned about in his theory classes AND dueling! This was the step closer he needed to being JUST like his dad. It was gonna be awesome.

AND LOOK THERE WAS THE DOOR.

It took a great amount of restraint not to drop her hand and bolt inside.

Instead he all but dragged her through the doors, a splitting grin on his face as he bounced on his toes and took in the shop with excited blue eyes.

Silent, the eleven year old was too excited to speak.

Ellsworth Toussaint was a little distraught over the fact that her oldest child was finally old enough to be buying a wand. Or owning one, since Bast wouldn't be paying today, but the POINT WAS... he was school aged. And it was traumatizing.

She tried very hard not to be weepy as she was finally dragged into their first stop. The most important one. Merlin, she should have brought Annaliese as a distraction. A toddler on her hip trying to grab things and eat things and be the center of the universe would keep Ells from grabbing up Bast and sobbing.

How bad would THAT be?

"What are you waiting for? Jump up to the counter and get measured!" Brave smiles.

Botros family outing!

Junia L. Botros was dressed to impress even if she didn't get to get a wand today. She still got to hang with Hassan and Abey baby and 'Reka-roo and Rula and that was as good a reason as any to be fabulous. Also to wear a tiara. Her most shiny tiara! A girl never knew when she was going to find her prince! Though the frogs seemed to be everywhere. ICK!

Bursting through the door of Ollivander's and striking a very sassy pose, the eight year old's presence announced the arrival of the Botros family. Great family, many kiddos, all being looked after by a very handsome-Junia was likely to say the most handsome-dude ever. Her cousin was a prince for sure.

Maybe she could find him a princess here! Hehe.

Eureka was next. She was less enthused about bursting in, but her eyes were on the other kids streaming in before them. So many little kids. None of them had a tiara on, though, like Junia. Eureka thought it was fabulous, she knew this whole princess thing was a little childish (because those kind of princes don't exist, she checked) but her cousin managed to pull it off oh-so-well. Also, she wasn't going to ruin anyone's fantasies. She believed in miracles. "Ve're here!" The twelve-year-old announced to no one in particular, her distinct accent audible to all.

Hassan and Rula were directly behind them. Rula was getting her NEW wand, Eureka had flaunted her wand (that she hadn't managed to use much over the past two years) and now she could play the big sister and teach Rula how to take care of it. AND how to clean baby creatures with it! She knew how!

Speaking of baby creatures, a couple of purple and yellow pygmy puffs were situated on her head making squeaky, adorable noises.

No crying, puh-lease.

Bast didn't have Annaliese around for a reason. NO crying. He wanted to look back on this day and not see tears, or things being thrown, or anything that would take the attention away from him because this was HIS day. The one that was right up there with his birth because it officially started off his taking over his father's place in the family business.

Releasing his mum's hand before she could get over emotional, he cracked a smile and looked over at her. "Be back with my new wand in a sec." He sprinted over to where the measuring tape was sizing up other kids of lesser importance, because his day.

With Junia claiming leadership over her pack of cousins, and the most of the other girls so willing to follow behind, Hassan had decided to trail behind them all with Abey at his side and Alanna on his back. He did little to wrangle the kids up since they naturally stuck together, and were all beyond excited about Rula getting her wand. Funny how they all got excited for something only she would be able to use.

He wasn't worried about them fussing over sharing later, as he had planned to keep them all happy. That's why ice cream was happening after. The eldest Botros grandchild slipped into the shop and spun out away from the entrance so that they weren't blocking it anymore than they already where. "Go on and get your wand, Rula. Before someone else gets matched with it." He teased, sending a wink her way.

DaniDiNardo 04-17-2015 01:01 AM

You guuuuys :D

Arms locked tight around cousin Hassan's neck, Alanna enjoyed the piggybacked aaaalllllll the way to the place for the wand. It was nice up here and easier to keep up because the little girl had short legs and everyone walked so quickly when they were excited. Up here she got to see everything--even Juni's tiara. Would she let her wear it? Even just for a little? Alanna wouldn't drop it...not on purpose anyway.

Pale gray eyes roamed curiously around the shop at everyone already there and the boxes that must have been wands. Casually she leaned in closer and whispered. "I wan'a wand too." So of course she would ask her cousin because he was big and could make people do things.

Her feet kicked excitedly as she almost forgot she was still on his back. Just think, a wand! Then she could make pretty pink things for Aaron to wear! Juni and Rula could wear them too and Reka--Did Abey want something too?

"Juuunnniii." Her voice was hardly above a whisper with the four year old being all too conscious of the fact they were not the only ones here. Any louder and people would stare then she would shrink into herself. "Ju-ni-a." Pssssst. "Tiara?" She asked, pointing to the shiny thing on her sister's head.

Abraham Botros Jr. had a very tight grip on his big brother Hassan's hand, as tight as his little tiny kid hands could hold. There were a lot of people on the street today, and he didn't want to get separated from his brother (or any of the family) right now, because if they got separated he'd have to stop and ask someone for help or not find ANYONE again EVER EVER and be LOST in a SEA OF PEOPLE.

So. Many. People... If possible, Abey gripped Hassan's hand that little bit tighter.

Everyone else was loud and talking a whole lot, enough that he had an excuse to stay silent, but also loud enough that surely people would start looking their way soon, which was a mildly terrifying prospect for this little six year old. But... at least they'd be distracted by one of the others? Yes. That was good. That meant he didn't really have to worry.

But wait. Was Alanna going to get a wand as WELL as Rula? Abey's eyes went all wide and shiny. If Alanna could get one, that meant he was old enough as well.

"Me too, Hassan?" Abey said, his voice as hushed as he looked up at Hassan with those big brown eyes. "Can I maybe get one? Maybe please?"

There was a sudden in influx of children, and Ells had to step to the side not to be trampled by the big family. She didn't mind, though, since she was too busy being brave and stoic about her little man getting his very own wand. And look how he took to it.

He was so like his father.

"I'll be right here, bab... Bast. Not moving an inch. Right here." Or maybe a step to the left to avoid swinging elbows.

Rula. Was. So. EXCITED!!!!!

It was OBVIOUS why, of course. And she was so tempted to run ahead of everyone and get there first. But for once, as her excitement and anticipation grew with each step, it made her just a little calmer. Because this was IT. It was actually happening. She was about to get her wand.

It was kinda scary and exciting all at the same time.

Once they had arrived and walked in though...the scary part disappeared and she was EXCITED ALL OVER AGAIN YEAH.

She beeeeamed at all the family members that had come with her and even at the other kids here to and - GAAAAAAAASP.

"NO ONE can be matched with my wand, Hassan! 'Cause it'll only want me and why would it match with anyone else when it could be matched with me." No way the wand that was perfect for her would choose someone else. No way.

Grinning at him again, she bounded forward to the measuring tape area.

Colin was about to talk. He was. But the guy seemed a little... ... Colin didn't have the work for it. Anxious? Keen? It's not like Colin assumed that the guy was a serial shoe-stepper-onner. He was pretty sure, in fact, that nobody purposefully went out of their way to step on someone else's shoe.

"I'm sure they're both fine, thanks." he replied with a half raised eyebrow. "Unless you've been stepping in things I should be concerned about?"

In which case, radioactive spiders would be preferred. Being a superhero would sort of be cool. Or a ninja. But he was pretty sure you had to train to be one of those, they didn't just happen.

Junia couldn't help the pout when Rula ran off to get her wand. Her very own wand. A wand Junia would never ever be able to use because Rula would be even more protective of it than her pretty dresses. She could still maybe look at it, right? And maybe hold it sometimes? She could, right? And she could use her biggest, best puppy dog eyes to make this happen. So really, she had no reason to pout at all! And so she sucked her bottom lip back in and hurried over to Hassan, attaching herself to his leg, as Abey had his other side covered. They were a Botros family sundae and Alanna was the cherry on top!

"You'll take me to get my wand someday too, right Hassy?" Junia glanced up with hopeful eyes, her gaze traveling from her older cousin to her sister sitting on his shoulders. Maybe he'd even take 'Lanna and Aaron when they were old enough.

"But I just shined it, 'Lanna. Y'gotta be extra careful if I let you wear it." Which, because she was the best older sister in the entire wizarding world and universe, she would. The eight year old handed it over to Hassan who could hand it to Alanna, Junia's eyes watching all the while lest it should fall. "I don't have one for you, Abey, but you can hold my hand if you want." Because holding a princess's hand was just as good as a tiara, honestly. 'Reka could hold her hand too if she wanted.

So. Many.

Rula. Was.

Sooooo, now that the birthday girl Rula was in, all they had to do was wait here before they were allowed to go have some ice cream. "Good luck!" He unnecessarily shouted at Rula's departing figure. Getting your first wand was exciting, and having your little cousins around to brag about it to was even MORE exciting. It was a shame he didn't have this many cousins to brag about his first wand to, only Alice and Lilian.

Ever so gently he knocked his head against Alanna, his dark eyes on his little brother who's hand he held just as tightly. "You both can have a wand. They have sparkler ones in each Hogwarts house." Hassan was prepared to buy one for each of his cousins and a polish kit for Rula. Mostly for the holster but also because he wanted her to be able to take care of her wand.

He was going to spend a hell of a lot of money today on these kids, it helped that all their folks had chipped in when they heard what he was doing.

SEE? Abey wanted a wand too! If they both asked nice enough and said please enough times then they would have to get one because that was how things worked. 'Please' and 'Thank You' were magic words, mhm, her Mummy always said so. Alanna looked down at him before turning her attention to Hassan again. He'd have to say yes now. It was magic.

So engrossed was she in everything Junia began to say about the tiara that she didn't notice Rula darting off to get her wand. Tiaras were serious business and you had to pay extra special attention when you were being allowed to wear one. The brightest of smiles flashed across the 4 year old's face once it was extended toward her and her little fingers wiggled about excitedly in a grabbing motion. "I'll take GOOD care of it, promise promise promise." That was a magic word too and you couldn't break it so Juni knew she meant serious business. Alanna wasted no time in plopping it on her head. "I look like a princess now?"

The little girl leaned forward a bit, nearly climbing a bit on Hassan's back as she did to get a better look at Reka's puffs. She wasn't sure if she wanted to TOUCH one but they were SO FLUFFY and CUTE. Alanna didn't take her eyes off them til she felt Hassan's head knock lightly against hers but it was what he said next that had her wiggling.

"Wow!" Immediately she shrunk into herself, only now aware of how loud she'd just been. It took her a moment to recover. "A wand? For me and Abey? Do they have pink?" She didn't know the houses but she DID want a wand anyway.

Rula was going, going, gooooone. Except not really gone because Abey could see her right over there, getting measured up for her wand. He kept his eyes on her a little longer, intending to watch her all the way up to the counter, but his attention was caught by someone else just a second later. Junia, offering to let him hold her hand. Abey nodded, still super shy even though he was in the presence of a whole ton of his family, and wasted not a moment in reaching out to hold onto his older cousin's hand.

It seemed that not a second later, Eureka was there, talking to Junia about pygmy puffs and offering her one. Abey thought those little things were cute, but he wasn't quite as interested in the creatures as Eureka, and so looked back to Hassan instead, just as he mentioned...

!!!!!

"A sparkler wand..." Abey repeated, whispering the words back to himself like Hassan had just offered to get him the greatest toy or the tastiest ice cream ever. A wand he could use to make sparks. This was the best day of his life. Abey glanced up at Alanna to check her reaction, and to make sure that he wasn't reacting wrong, then looked back to Hassan, a big giddy grin on his face.

"Can we really?" His eyes SHONE, full of WONDER. "Thank you Hassan!" Abey hugged his big brother's arm (with some difficulty, as he was still holding both Hassan and Junia's hands). "One for the house that you and Grandpa were in?" He knew they were in the same house, and probably at the same time too, because they were both old, right? But though he knew nothing else about the House or the House colours, Abey knew that that was the one he wanted. For definite.

In which case, radioactive spiders would be preferred. Being a superhero would sort of be cool. Or a ninja. But he was pretty sure you had to train to be one of those, they didn't just happen.

He blinked at the man once, twice... three times... then tried to reeeeal subtly glance down at his own shoe, angling it as though to check the underside. This would be a real bad time to discover he HAD stepped in something concerning, wouldn't it? Like cruppy poop, or some exploding potion.

...

"Nope. I think you're good. Nothing concerning here." Jake looked back up again and gave a smile, like this was some real fantastic news to be imparting. Mystery dude may have gotten his foot stomped, but no feet were exploding today. Not because of Jake, at least.

"Nope. I think you're good. Nothing concerning here." Jake looked back up again and gave a smile, like this was some real fantastic news to be imparting. Mystery dude may have gotten his foot stomped, but no feet were exploding today. Not because of Jake, at least.

Colin was amused. It seemed this guy had to try to be normal. It was... interesting. He glanced down following the guy's gaze. Was he checking his shoe? ... Ew. Did he really step in something?

Oh good. Crisis averted.

"That's..." Uh...? What do you say at a time like this? "A relief."

"At least I didn't step on your feet. I went down to see the dragons today." So he probably did have concerning material on his shoes. Awkward.

Jake grinned, and allowed himself to laugh. Initial awkwardness starting to pass and all that. It was always good when that happened.

"Yeah," he said. "That's-" Wait a second.

Hold.

The.

Phone.

"Dragons?" For a moment, Jake's eyes had widened, though not in fear or anything. It was just... the guy... the guy had mentioned one of his favourite things in the entire world. For someone who had a lowkey (okay... highkey) obsession with the creatures, it was like MUSIC to his ears. He grinned even wider. "I love dragons!" Wait, no. Jake. Play it coooool, you are a suave and sophisticated adult. Control yourself. "I... I mean..." *ahem* "Dragons? As in the Gringotts dragons?" As they were the only ones he knew of where you had to go DOWN somewhere to see them, mhm. Very close by, too.

Colin sported an amused grin. He was used to this reaction. He loved this reaction. It was pretty much the best thing about knowing dragons. Working with dragons? Whatever. Being in proximity to the giant things.

"Yeah. Those dragons." he said with a smirk and a nod. Those were the only dragons around here. And it was no secret that Gringotts had them.

"So. You love dragons?" Yup. Colin caught onto that slip of maturity. And, in typical Colin fashion, he was going to point it out AND poke fun at the guy for it.

Because. Colin was mature too. Totally.

Cooool. Jake had never seen those dragons before, never been down there or anything, and he'd always felt like he was missing OUT. It wasn't fair, really, except deep down he knew it was. Kinda.

"Nice," he replied, attempting to look casual and play it cool, and probably failing miserably. "I..." He faltered, unsure if he was being mocked or something here. It was never very easy to tell, but at least these days he didn't take things so personally. That kind of stuff wasn't viewed too favourably in his last job. SO... he mentally shrugged it off and carried on. "Yeah, I do. Actually worked with them for a while, y'know? Romania." Jake was... yeah, he was boasting. It was just a natural thing, and he only realised immediately after saying it that it was pretty impossible to employ bragging rights at someone who... could basically do the same thing right back. Uhhh. Aha. Awk. "That... that was a long time ago, though." Ahem. He let his eyes sort of... stray off to the nearby shelf laden with wand holsters, before... "Dragons, man."

Way to go, Jake.

Colin raised an eyebrow. "Romania, huh?" He considered this for a second. "Caretaker there?" For the dragons. Unless, of course, his work in Romania wasn't directly with the dragons. That was also an option.

"So what do you do now?" It obviously had nothing to do with dragons. And he was curious. Depending on the job, maybe Colin would find an excuse to show this guy the dragons. Could be fun.

Especially if he kept getting overexcited and then embarrassed by it. It was kind of endearing.

Jake nodded impressively. "Yep. Back in the day." Of course, he'd only just turned 30, so... back in the day was only really about ten years ago. "Interned there for a while, got some qualifications. Then went back to volunteer from time to time. Offered a proper job but..." He grinned and shrugged. It was difficult to not end up sounding like he was bragging, considering he knew this other guy did actual proper work with dragons and all, but luckily his enthusiasm about the topic helped to mask it. Though he still tried to... mask that, somehwat.

As for now... uh, well. Less exciting stuff, actually. "I... well, I was a Hit Wizard 'til recently, actually," starting with that might make the rest of it sound a little less, um... boring, to some people. "But I quit to go back to university. Trying to get my teaching licence. To homeschool, all that fun stuff." It was a weird journey and a long story as to how he'd made that decision but it suddenly occurred to Jake that this was more information than the guy wanted or needed to know anyway. He paused for a moment, clicked his tongue, and then... "I miss the dragons, though. Easiest thing since I left school by far. I love 'em."

Was that... obvious? It was probably obvious. But worth saying again. Ahem.

He was talking a lot. Okay. Chill, Jake. Chill. Be chill. Do you have sunglasses? No? Well... try to look chill without them.

Colin nodded thoughtfully. "So you're pretty good with them, then?" he asked. He assumed so if the guy was offered a proper job.

It was interesting that he quit doing something he was so enthusiastic about though. There had to be more to it. Was it rude to pry? Probably. Was he going to do it anyway? Probably.

Hit wizard to teacher? That was an interesting jump. "So dragons to being a hit wizard to... the quiet homeschool life?" Yeah, apparently he was just going to jump right out and ask about it. "Seems like a pretty... big life change.

Casual comment. Not too prying. That was socially fine.

Pretty good? Pretty good? Jake thought that was a bit of an understatement. He was awesome with dragons (probably because, as his brother had once pointed out, they had similar temperaments and therefore probably a mutual understanding... but Dale was a nerd and always said stuff like that), but then this guy had never seen him in action, so it was an understandable deduction, he supposed.

"Yeah, I'd say so. Pretty good, sure," he replied, really fighting the urge to comment that it helped that he loved dragons, because he was pretty sure he'd already mentioned that a few times. "... Are you?" 'Cause he said he'd gone down to see the Gringotts ones and all. So was that just for a shufti or because he was a pro?

Oh... ahhhh, yeah. Jake rubbed at the back of his neck, making a sort of 'yyyeeeeahhh...' face as he did so. "I guess it is. I do the life-changing thing a lot..." Which was... weird, considering how little he liked change when it really came down to it. But now the guy said it out loud, he realised he did have a tendency to... move around a lot, in the metaphorical sense of the word. Jake shrugged. "I mean, what can I say. Some of the people people you come across in my old job... things might've turned out better if someone got to 'em earlier." He was speaking from... personal experience here. Kazi, Truebridge, Kingsley. They'd all done that for him, stopped him going down a dark road, and now he wanted to do the same. But... this stranger didn't need to know that. "And Hit Wizard-ing wasn't really my thing."

Colin considered that for a second. Pretty good. He was kind of curious what that meant. "Me? I haven't gotten eaten yet, so that's something." he said with a shrug. He assumed dragons in captivity were different from other dragons. Especially the dragons that live underground that hear minecarts all the time. That had to give them a headache or something.

"Tell you what. How about next time you come into the bank, you ask for me? We can take the long way to your vault." Assuming he had one of course.

He nodded. There was nothing wrong with life changes. It was good for the soul or something. Probably. Colin wasn't really the type to life change, so he didn't actually know. Plus, he could understand by the guy wanted to get away from a depressing job. Chasing bad guys all the time had to take a toll. "Well good for you. Nothing better than improving young minds, am I right?"

Jake nodded thoughtfully, then looked the bloke up and down just to verify that what he was saying was true. Mhmm. Yep. Okay. Definitely didn't look like he'd been eaten by a dragon, otherwise he'd be all chewed and gnarled and dead and probably digested and dragon dung. This man did not look like dragon dung. Jake thought about pointing that out, but on reflected decided that he better not.

"Yeah?" he replied, breaking out into something of a grin. "I'd like that. Sounds like a solid plan to me." Jake nodded, paused, and then thought of something. "... And, who exactly would I be asking for?" Seeing as, well, he'd not found out the other guys name yet, and had, in turn, essentially given a condensed life story without revealing his own name. That was... actually, that was pretty hilarious. And very typical of Jake.

Another nod, just the one. "Yep. Improving. Influencing. Encouraging. All that fun stuff." Though Jake was sure he knew of a few people - mainly some of his old school teachers - that might prefer a few select less positive terms, even if only based on what he'd been like at school. He sort of wished he could see their reactions, actually, so he could be all smug when they realised how well he'd turned out. Ahem.

Chloe's Mum had finally let her wander around Diagon Alley a bit by herself. She had only been asking for two hours now. She was eleven years old, not a baby, honestly. But her mother had been insistent about making sure Chloe covered all of her bases: robes, books, supplies and a few pretty girly things to enhance the standard uniform. She had spent her whole life being matchy matchy with Clara. She had earned a few pretty bows and nice shoes.

The last thing on their list was her wand, though, and she had somehow managed to get her mother to agree to go by herself. Said it was a right of passage or something. Chloe was just happy to have a bit of freedom.

With a bright grin and wide eyes, she stepped in the shop with a bounce and started to look around.

Rooney was never going to be a fan of the summeer. It may have been the season that his birthday was in, and the only time that he could perform on stage with his old classmates, but the weather in Britain was a joke in the summer. Summer showers, his mother said. Light rain, his father said. Light showers of rain, his bottom said! The boy ducked into the closest shop as the HEAVENS opened and every inch of water in the world fell from it and onto his head. Blasted billywigs!

He was drenched.

And even drenched wasn't an appropriate word for the state of him right now.

Mama would liken him to a drowned rat. Daddy would just laugh and ask if he had tried to catch any rain drops on his tongue. Neither would make him laugh. Neither would impress him. Roo would just want a nice warm bath and a cup of hot chocolate for when he got out.

He muttered something about looking like the fountain had taken a disliking to him, and tried to shake the water out of his hair like Elphie did. But Elphie was a dog, and he wasn't. SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE. SHAKE IT OFF. BYE WATER. SHAKE.

Chloe was so invested in the prospect of getting her very first wand she wasn't really aware of the drippy boy that had just wandered in. She would have been fine with the state he was in, as it wasn't really her business to question why someone else choose to go out soaking wet, but when he wrung himself out like a dish towel and some of the sprinkles of water landed ON her....Chloe cared.

Her eyes got all big with surprise and her hands flew to her hair. Her thick, blonde hair did not need to be wet. It was hard enough taming the beast of thick, semi-curly and frizzy hair without water in the picture. How rude. This boy had no manners.

And she was going to tell him so.

Scrunching up her nose to show how serious and grown up she was, Chloe tapped the boy on the shoulder, "Excuse me. You got my hair wet. I'm waiting." For her apology, that is.

Shake shake shake. Shake shake shake. Shake you ha-aiiir. Shake your ha-oooh.

Roo whipped his head in the direction that his shoulder had been tapped, forgetting that that would send another wave of hair water at those in the close vicinity. An apologetic smile on his dripping face, he reached out to...try fix up her hair that his hair had ruined. But he remembered that it wasn't the best idea to touch a girl's hair, especially when she was so much so of a hair human. "It's raining outside." The only comment that he could come up with without it being a 'you were in the way' or 'I didn't purposely get you wet'. He'd apologise, but only when his nose stopped dripping and his eyelashes quit fusing together.

Next time he was bringing an umbrella even if it was sunny.

Georgiana could not believe that it was time for Benton to go get his wand and school supplies for Hogwarts. Time just went by so fast. Her youngest son was growing up on her. She stayed back from the counter and watched.

It wasn't nerves not really really it was more like one of those proud parent moments really. It had seem like a million years ago since she was here with her mother getting her own first wand. Okay now the nerves was sitting in, as she seen him walk up to the counter and have his turn. Boy. She's not normally so emotional, just with family and her kids big millstones.

This was so exciting! He was going to get his wand! HIS WAND!!! Benton was almost bouncing off the walls with excitement. "Can I buy a holster and some other things too? Will I need to buy them for school?" He had so many questions, but at the same time just wanted to get everything he saw.

Where was his cousin? He was going to meet them there, wasn't he? "Tory is coming too, right? He is still going to Hogwarts, right?" He felt better knowing his brother was transferring over and Tory would be a first year with him.

"Mom can we go get ice cream when we are done here? Do you think it will take long?" What did they have to do to get a wand? He remembered his brother was measured, but what else he was not remembering.

Gigi could tell that her son was excited, as he should be. It was an exciting time for any young one. So she was going to let him enjoy it, even if he was bouncing off the walls hyper, and asking a load of questions.
"We'll see about getting you a holster." It might be a good thing for him to have to keep his wand in.

She looked around. She didn't see her nephew anywhere, but that didn't mean that he wasn't around in here already. "Yes, I believe we were meeting him here. Yes. He'll be at Hogwarts with you and Kaleb." With all of them at Hogwarts it made her feel better that they would have them there.

She let out a small sigh. At least he wasn't asking to go to sugarplums and get more candy. It was a hot day out so ice cream did sound good. Especially over candy. "We'll make a stop by after you get your wand." She smiled and placed her hand and places her hand on his shoulder.

NO LONGER...would she be forced to sneak her mother's wand to practice magic...which almost always led to bed without dessert, or cancelled visits with Phillip and Kat. Her cousin, Kat, had her own friends, who Olivia didn't know, but Phillip...Well, not seeing him hurt her heart. They were BEST FRIENDS. The BESTEST of friends. BUT....BUT....EVERYTHING was changing today!!!

Yes.

SHE WAS GETTING HER WAND...and what was better, her DADDY was with her. And her mum, of course, but HER DAD. Said dad had his hand tightly clutched by Olivia's much smaller one, but she obviously had to break away for just a moment...as this weird numbered tape...thing was whizzing and stretching itself out against various parts of her body...as soon as she'd stepped up to it. Magic was dead fascinating, Liv had to admit. She stood as still as a little girl could, you know...One that was about to receive the most important magical item of her life. Needless to say, the small blonde was trembling with her unadulted joy and excitement. Also...she was growing impatient with this...tape thing. WOULD IT JUST HURRY UP ALREADY?!

Cue an epic scowl face...

OH. Oh, nevermind...It was finished. Now what?! She looked around wildly at her parents. Did they know?! Was she...suppposed to continue standing here? Was a wand especially perfect for her going to...suddenly descend from the ceiling or something?!

Sweet Merlin. For such a tiny blonde precious princess, Livvy had quite the death grip. Not that Carter minded. Basically the little blonde could do no wrong in his eyes. Minus growing up. THAT was frowned upon.

He looked over the shop. Maybe they'd be too busy for Livvy to get her wand and she'd be forced to stay at home and never grow up. Or maybe there'd be a horrible accident and Livvy would suddenly turn three again.

Ahem. He meant that he was very excited to be there. Aww. And look at the scowl face. So cute. She learned that from her mum, obviously. Carter never scowled anymore.

He shot Marilyn a reassuring smile. Their baby was all ready for her own wand. This was okay. This was normal. He wasn't going to freak out.

At least not in public. He'd just wait right here. Smiling. Pretending that this wasn't the most bittersweet day ever.

Hi Kate! :3

His dad...his own father trolled him. Ryden said that Jace had to answer hard questions to get his wand...and...that didn’t happen. The 11 year old however was very pleased that he read books about wandlore because...he now knows how special his wand is.

His mama would be proud. Very proud. But, Jace had reservations. Being matched with this wand meant that he must—OOMPH.

Jace, while still admiring the stick in his hand as he stepped out of the shop bumped into someone. Some adult, definitely.

Oh no oh no oh no!!! The half-Japanese stumbled back, and bowed his head low, and apologized in his native tongue. “I’m so sorry, mister!” Bow. “I didn’t mean to bump into you!” Bow. “I wasn’t looking, it’s entirely my fault!” BOW.

He’d do well as a house elf, really.

Paul was in Diagon...yet another day. Today he had come without Milton...the man had things he needed to get done back home at the vineyard. But Paul...he was happy to meander around the magical shops by himself. It was quite relaxing, and he needed a new quill, anyways. Something fancy, he decided. He would treat himself.

But...before he knew it, someone was running into him! A small person, so he assumed a younger person, and Paul chuckled a whooooooole lot at the young fellow..bowing left and right. Merlin! Must be a culture thing, Paul decided. He wasn't sure if he was supposed to bow back or not...so he chose to just nod his head at him.

"It...was equally my fault, I assure you. I was not paying attention either...daydreaming of Honeydukes and candy..." he said with a sigh, relaxing his shoulders. "So please...it's really okay." And he patted the boy on the shoulder.

Merlin, England is very different, isn’t it? Jace stopped bowing, and slowly looked up at the tall man before him. He blinked several times as he processed what he said, while holding up his newly acquired wand pointing upwards.

This man is very kind, Jace could tell.

“You can understand, Japanese, mister?” he asked. It was rare to bump into someone who can speak his native language.

Jace tilted his head, and wondered why a grown up man would daydream about Honeydukes? Was he like Dumbledore who loved muggle lemon drops? Not that lemon drops are nasty, but...really? If this man would ask, he’d be daydreaming of Japan...or his Kendo practices...or interesting books...even sleep!

He was going to get a holster too!! THIS WAS SO EXCITING!! He couldn't contain his excitement. He was getting his wand and a holster today! He wondered what else they would buy! Where was Tory? He had to be coming soon. Benton didn't want him to miss out on getting his wand. What would one do if they didn't have a wand before leaving? "Do they have wands at Hogwarts? What if a muggleborn doesn't make it here to buy their wand? What would they do?" Maybe they could get extra wands to give out to people that couldn't afford them or didn't know thye had to buy them.

He beamed up at her, "I want to get a pet too, can I get a pet? Uncle Julien sent me money and said it was a congratulations for getting into Hogwarts. Can I use that money? I want something cool." Could he get a snake maybe? What type of pet was he allowed to get? Benton thought about looking at his letter again for the thousandth time.

They were going to get ice cream!! He gave his mother a hug, "Thanks mom you're the best!"

vijaya 03-20-2016 07:54 AM

Gabriel walked into the wand shop carrying his bag of book he would need in Hogwarts. His mom had disappeared to get some money out of the bank asking his to get to the wand shop. It was time to get his first ever wand. He was kind of nervous. He always wanted a wand of his own since he saw his mom and dad doing spells and he felt a trill to do them himself. So the day had finally arrived where he could get his very first wand.

svrangerchrista09 08-07-2016 09:02 PM

Mr. and Mrs. White entered the shop with their two children Eden and Henry. Of course they had forgotton at Gringotts that they all needed their wands before the deposit and withdrawl. How silly. It must be a squib trait to be so forgetful in the wizarding world. "Don't touch a thing unless Ira tells you to, do you understand children?" Mr. White asked deliberatly knowing his chilren were already very cautious. A reminder wouldn't ever hurt though. "Yes sir." they both replied very quickly. "Alright, let's all go get fitted, it's been quite some time since we've used a wand. Honey, let's let the children go first and then you and I." Mrs. White was so punctual and a planner at that. "Sounds like a plan", Mr. White agreed. "I wonder if they teach wand lessons at Hogwarts or here at the shop...." She thought out loud. Mr. White agreed that was a good question and intended to ask, but not try to bother the shopkeeper at work. Possibly one of his assistants could help with those, he thought to himself. "Alright everyone, are you ready? This is a big day!" "Yes, father." The children were on his good side today.

For Dani/Blaise and Jesse/Melbourne

Hadley opened the door and stepped in. Hmmm...Blaise wasn't here yet, nor was Melons. Not an issue, it wasn't like Hadley was in any particular hurry or anything. She took a seat and waited, a smile creeping onto her face. This shop brought back wonderful, and exciting memories.

Just two years ago--it seemed like ages really--Hadley had entered the shop for the first time and experienced magic like never before. She had been attacked, gently, by the over eager measuring tape La Rue. Where was La Rue? And then, Hadley had been given her wand, Kira and together they a little beautiful magical reaction. And she found out unicorns existed. They were wonderful and happy memories.

Hopefully she could help Blaise make some wonderful memories here too.

DaniDiNardo 08-15-2016 08:39 PM

It took ages, a lot of convincing and a few sickles but Blaise was finally able to ditch his little sister in favour of meeting up with Hadley and Melbourne. Julie was hard to shake but a candy shop and some extra money to increase her own proved enough to keep her busy.

If he was being honest, he didn't expect much from this trip and he didn't think he'd be all that disappointed if he left empty-handed. It would be all the same to him, but if Hadley wanted to try then he'd be fine with tagging along. Perhaps she'd have better luck than he did.

Just after entering, he found the girl seated and made his way over. "I take it Melbourne hasn't gotten her yet?" A quick glance around the room said as much.

Funny how a place could make you grimace with one glance. Both occasions here had proven anything but fruitless. Needless to say, he wasn't the most excited to be here.

itsjustjesse 08-16-2016 02:36 AM

Laaaaaaaaate she was running late. Stupid bus and its zipping and zapping places. The Gryffindor was a little disoriented when she finally made it to Olivanders. “I’m h-here” she wheezed out as she thrust her hand against the stitch in her side. “Knight bus...from…ambleside” she nodded and looked over to Blaise and Hadley. “Hey Bellaire, Hadsters” she grinned at the two of them.

“You guys ready for this?” She asked and grinned over to the two of them. “Sooooooo….how’ve you been Bellaire?” She asked with a beam spreading across her face as she shifted on the balls of her feet.

Callie 08-17-2016 08:03 PM

"Not yet, no." Hadley said. "But she'll be here," she added quickly. Hads knew Mel well enough to know she'd be there, because she said she would. Speak of the devil. "Here she is."

Hads waited for Mel to catch her breath. "Night bus?" It was day. Why was the night bus operating in the day? This is one of those wizarding things isn't it? Did wizards have buses? Maybe.

She noticed the expression on Blaise's face and gave him a sympathetic look. "Don't worry, Blaise. This time will be different. Trust me. Have you had La Rue measure you again? The measuring tape," she added, realizing that Blaise probably didn't know the measuring tape's name.

Théo was excited today was the day he was getting a wand and not even Charlie could ruin it. He also wanted to get a better wand than her and Chris. He was sure they felt the same about wanting the better wand. Even if as Chris said the wand chooses the wizard. We will see. Also a longer wand since something his cousin said about length. He wanted to ask either of them about how weird everyone was being but felt it was best to keep that to himself.

"Ready to lose again Charlie"

The only time she ever wins if she jumps on him.

He didn't really care if he lost to Chris since then he can blame it on him being smarter than Théo.

Besides having his awesome family here he was looking around for other people he knew who were starting Hogwarts in September

If Felicity didn't adore her younger brother as much as she did, it was certain that she would not be here right now. Why her parents had agreed to send Théodore to Hogwarts was beyond her wildest belief and she was still avoiding both of them as best as she could, despite spending most of her time under the same roof as Dahlia. Things at home were questionably worse than ever and Felicity had every intention of leaving once more when September came so that she could throw herself into her own school work and finish her degree finally. Maybe then she'd have something to one-up her husband once and for all.

"Théodore, brag with pride. Not boast." And because she believed in Charlie a little more than she did Théo, she messed with his hair and left a lipstick kiss on his forehead.

This was parenting at it's best, and she wasn't even a parent.

"She is correct though, come from pride, dont boast about things.. it makes you seem ignorant." They weren't ignorant.. well, to each other sure but not others.

"Excited for your wands?" He knew Theo had to be, his baby brother did nothing but talk about it for as long as he could remember,Chris and Charlie, he swore they were only born just yesterday and he was feeling old.
He felt a certain way about not bringing Ava around today but he figured since Fliss would be here and since the way things went the last time he opted against it and left her at home. Images of her coming to get a wand flashed through his mind and he couldn't help but smile, even though him and Byron weren't together they were doing alright at this co-parent thing.

He also felt severely out of place and like he didn't belong but he promised his mother AND Theo that he would be here for this. Even though he didn't meet at the house he did meet at the shop and well that's good enough for him.

here with the fam xoxox

Somehow, SOMEHOW, today had come. And even though Abey had been waiting for forever and ever and ever, it felt like today wasn't actually happening at all actually. But maybe that was because he was actually much more terrified than he thought he'd be.

Because he was. Terrified. Sort of. Maybe. Very. Actually.

Abey had dragged Lilian and Hassan to the wand shop, while somehow simultaneously hiding behind them. Somehow, actually, even though he was MUCH MORE CONFIDENT and at ease around his family, it was when he was with his family and around strangers that his shyness was as bad as ever. When they weren't around, he could ACT confident. But when they were around... he didn't NEED to act. But he did. But he didn't.

Gnawing at his lower lip and holding VERY TIGHTLY onto both Hassan and Lilian's hands, Abey looked off towards the measuring area that everyone else was heading to on their own, and felt his heart slam wildly in his chest.

What if... what if he got a BAD wand. Did they do bad wands? Wands that were for weak wizards? Probably. Would he be INSTANTLY OUTED right here in this shop? Would the wandmaker laugh at him? Would Hassan and Lilian be disappointed in him? Ultimately, was it really worth the stress? All the excitement and bouncing around and memories of thrilled celebrations seemed to fade away in an instant.

"Um... let's go home. I'll... just get mama to owl order my wand actually..." Did they do those? Probably not. "Or... or maybe I can have Jaddi's old wand." Did someone still have that? He wasn't sure.

Did Abey really want to leave? No. He wanted a WAND. An OLLIVANDER'S WAND. But this was a lot scarier than he had imagined, and he didn't want to get it wrong. Théo was here too, and Abey didn't want to look like a fool in front of him, actually, and he ducked back, attempting to hide between his brother and sister, but at the same time trying to drum up the courage to go up to the measuring area.

Maybe Hassan could go up for him.

AlwaysSnapesGirl 12-14-2016 03:35 AM

It had been awhile since Vashti had been in this shop, but it didn't appear to have changed all that much, aside from the people working there.

The biggest change, though, was that she was here with her oldest kids. Both of them eleven. Going to Hogwarts in September.

Merlin, where had the time gone?

"Go on up and let the tape measure do its job," she encouraged Regina and Naia, placing a hand on their backs and nudging them forward.

"Okay, mom," Regina replied, trying to remain calm and not bounce around with excitement. Because this was it - she was finally getting an Ollivanders wand, just like her mom and dad. And she would be using it at HOGWARTS.

It felt almost too good to be true.

She glanced at her twin, then made her way forward.

AHEM. That showed how much TheoBORE knew if he thought Charlie couldn't ruin today. She was excellent at ruining things. All kinds of things. Mostly furniture. She had muddied up approximately seven couches this year alone. And the year wasn't even halfway done. Charlie was the champion of ruination.

With both of her brothers at her heels, because she liked to make an ENTRANCE, Charlie swished into the shop. She knocked her cousin, Theo, with her shoulder and then smiled cutely at Felicity. Ladies had to stick together against smelly brothers.

"Theo, stop being so obsessed with me. It's weird." Hehehe. She was so gonna get a better wand than him. Because pretty people always got what they wanted. Life was just better for good looking people. Dylan said so.

Maybe Hassan could go up for him.

The plan had been, originally, to spend all summer on some uncharted island with his BEAUTIFUL new wife, both of them half naked, and completely drunk on love. They'd be far away from all of the press their new marriage had been receiving, and not close enough to each other. It was a good plan, Hassan thought, and he was fully prepared to fulfill this plan with but one stipulation. That he came back to London so that he and Lilian could take their baby brother to get his first wand.

This was a momentous occasion, almost bigger than him getting married even. A boy always remembered his first wand. Just walking through those old doors brought on a rush of memories for him. He was maybe a little taller than Abey - but just as skinny - when he came bolting in with his parents and sister. The second trip was just the following year for Lillian's wand. The third? For a replacement wand (ahem) was with his grandfather in the middle of his third year. All of the subsequent visits where with his little cousins as he enjoyed being apart of all of their lives and the big events that came along.

Now it was Abey's time, and Hassan couldn't have been more proud.

Making a quick getaway from his honeymoon, he met Lilian and Abey at the shop to make sure this day was ALL about his little brother. He didn't want to steal any of this shine. He probably couldn't if he tried just because Abey was an amazing little kid.

"Jaddi's wand? Why do you want that old thing for?" Hassan gently prodded the side of his brother's head with his free hand, lightly teasing him to ease some of the eleven year old's worries. "You need you something young and fresh like you. And," He leaned down, brown eyes darting around as if he were about to tell his brother some great secret. His voice loud enough for just the three of them to hear. "If we don't get your wand now, we can't get the surprise Lily and I have for you after." The eldest Botros shrugged himself back up then winked over at his sister.

Dylan, who was right on the heels of his rambunctious little sister, had a firm grip on the other twins' hand [Christopher]. He'd thought he could control this situation today...and had been managing perfectly until they'd neared the old wand shop. Apparently, excitement won out over appropriate behaviors.

"Charlie." The former Slytherin warned the girl with a look, his tone of voice also conveying that she should play nice, despite her spoiled upbringing. These children were stressing him out enough with their rapid aging. He'd NOT given either twin permission to grow up this fast.

Moving fully into the space of the shop, he propped himself up against a wooden pillar, finally releasing Chris' hand. "Luca. Felicity..." Dylan smirked. "How's married life treating you?" And to Luca... "Fatherhood?" He'd not kept up with his family members, truth be told, but he had his own life to live. They certainly didn't need him neck deep in their affairs. And he couldn't be arsed, anyway.

"You two... Go get measured." They needed to get robes, their books... There was a lot to do today.

Christopher couldn't believe he was actually in a wandshop...about to be fitted for his very own wand. If the small boy thought about it at great length, he'd have overwhelmed himself with the weight of this responsibility. It was a responsibility, wasn't it? He'd read that wands were meant to be lifelong companions. Lifelong. That was a lot of time to consider; the rest of his life and everything.

Following closely behind the older members of his family, Chris quietly took a gander around the shop; enjoying the strange smell of polish and wood at once. It was a very interesting atmosphere.... but also very hectic. It was packed.

"Okay." Not engaging Theo or Charlie as they bickered with one another, save to latch onto his sister's hand, he did as he was told; approaching the measuring tape (and dragging his sister along with him).

If the woman didn't know any better, it seemed as though the two most important boys in her life - her brothers, of course - were out to make her emotional during the course of one summer. Hassan's wedding was enough to set her emotions on edge but add in her baby brother's first wand selection and it was starting to get a bit much. Really, her brothers were just making it difficult for her to remain strong and capable.

It was probably because of this reason that Lilian wore an outfit that made her feel confident as well as look it. She remembered being here for her own wand selection ceremony: Hassan was the person she came with and Hassan was the one who had his ears talked off with her excited chatter about her wand and all the types of spells she wanted to cast.

When Abey piped up, she glanced down at him and gave his hand a small, comforting squeeze. As always with these situations, Hassan took the lead because he was the oldest and was much better at words of comfort than she was. If wits and sarcasm were what you were looking for, Lilian was your girl. But Hassan? He just knew what to say and how to not sound offensive at the same time.

Was she jealous? A bit.

"Exactly," she agreed, "You want something that's unique to just you. Something that's yours." The smile on the woman's face only widened at the mention of the little surprise and she winked back at Hassan. "Believe me, you'll want to see this surprise," His siblings didn't disappoint, you know. "But your wand comes first, Ab. And we'll be right here to support you." No one was going to make them leave this scene.

No one.

Lots of lip chewing was happening, as Abey continued to staaaaaare over towards the measuring station thingy, the butterflies in his tummy getting so lively he was starting to feel a little funny actually. He tilted his head up to look at Hassan when his big brother (the bestest big brother ever, by the way) spoke, then looked between him and the counter, and then at Lilian (by the way, the bestest big sister ever, actually). He wasn't totally convinced just yet, and it was clear on his face.

Until...

"Surprise?" Abey looked between them again, suddenly perking up. A surprise like a present? Whatever it was, it sounded GOOD. Surprises were always good, weren't they? Except for bad surprises, but Hassan and Lilian wouldn't give him a bad surprise not ever ever actually. Abey knew that.

He seemed to mull it over for a moment or two longer, before...

"Okay!" And, after flashing a sudden toothy grin at both siblings, Abey relinquished his grip on their hands and hurried across towards the tape measure's domain, the spring already back in his step.

Though he continued to look back at Hassan and Lilian from time to time, just to reassure himself that they were THERE.

They were.

DaniDiNardo 12-15-2016 01:27 AM

Holy sweet Merlin, HOW did they get here? How was it at all possible that his eldest children were now 'of age' and ready for their own wands? It was just yesterday that he'd changed their diapers and begged them to stop crying and taught them the virtues of NOT pulling on his tail. Now they were standing here, hanging off him with the rest of their siblings and bursting with immeasurable excitement.

He wasn't ready for this. Another year? Yes? Why couldn't they have been born in September? They'd have to sit out then and he'd have them that much longer.

Two less children at home. Two less smiles to greet him in the morning...two less to accidentally lose when they went to the store....two less to run around the house screaming....two less to interrupt at all the worst times...."Alright, step right up, who's getting their wand first, no time to waste." Two less didn't sound half bad at all. Maddox found himself nudging the two forward, careful not to bump them into their other siblings too roughly. It was hard to tell in a sea of children, especially when they all insisted on huddling so closely.

His own wand! His OWN wand. No more waving his daddy's wand and pretending to be all powerful, now he would have his own and all his siblings would have to listen to absolutely everything he said. Christopher (never Chris) might have been bouncing on the balls of his feet from excitement but no, he wasn't like the little children who came with their parents today, he was a responsible soon to be adult child.

The little boy liked to think he was far more grown than he actually was and today was no exception. "No pushing Daniel and Connor, you can't have your wands today on account of you two still being little so it's pointless." His grown up, mightier than thou voice was in full swing as he chided the squabbling 8 year olds. They were SUCH children, honestly. Never knew how to act when they went out. Not like him and not like Demetria.

At his father's prompting, Christopher moved toward the counter, his hand firmly around the wrist of his twin. "Come on, Demi!" His waaaaaand. THEIR WANDS.

Her silence was the stoic sort. For all the thrill that came with knowing she'd get her wand in just a few minutes, the little girl wore a grave expression. It wasn't in her nature to smile, nor was she the type to join the giggles and babblings of her younger siblings. Make no mistake, she was absolutely BURSTING--you just couldn't tell.

Always having been the silent type, Demetria didn't chide her siblings like Christopher did. Instead, she shot Sophie a glare that sufficiently conveyed her disinterest in having her arm yanked and her ear chatted off. Of all her siblings, it was always very clear which she fancied the least, though it was nothing to do with anything the 9 year old did. They simply didn't get along. More accurately, she never tried to get along with her younger sister.

No protest was given at her brother's tugging, the girl simply followed along, working as hard as she could to contain her enthusiasm. She would not gush and squeal and have grownups think it an invitation to make nice conversation with her. No thank you.

Maddox took a seat to the side of the shop, pulling his three remaining children into his grasp while he watched his eldest go off to get fitted for their wands. It was a proud moment to be sure. One he wasn't sure how to really react to. They were so grown now and would only keep going. Sapphire eyes fell on the remaining three who all fought for spots on his lap. They were still young, but he would be doing this again before he knew it.

"Théodore, brag with pride. Not boast." And because she believed in Charlie a little more than she did Théo, she messed with his hair and left a lipstick kiss on his forehead.

This was parenting at it's best, and she wasn't even a parent.

What did that mean. Was he even bragging. It was more of a challenge than anything else. He did want a better wand than her. Plus it was a fact. But he was not going to argue. Also that was embarrassing Flick. There could be people he knows here. Like he thought he saw Abey over there by was that Hassan Botros. Never-mind. He took the napkin from Luca, thanked him and started rubbing the spot she kissed.. Okay now it made more sense even though he had no idea how to boast from pride.

"Yeah, it will be cool when i can finally learn magic like you guys can do"

And Charlie being Charlie. Why could she just be normal. And yes she was a master of ruining things. Even knocking him with her shoulder. OW.

Crazy Charlie

"Know you are, but what am i"

He muttered. Not his best comeback but the only thing he got. But at least Dylan was here. The only person missing was Lee. But the odds of her coming in here were close to zero. He smiled at Chris.

"You ready Chris?"

Oh guess it was time to get measured.

Sarah/Asher

It was about time that she was old enough to go to Hogwarts and even get her very own wand. She had waited way too long for this. Elven years was a very long time to her. Hogwarts was going to be amazing and she just knew that she would be in Slytherin just like her famous daddy! Oh, she was going to talk about how famous he was all the time. Unless that wasn't fine by him but he would have to tell her.

Ashlynn Romalotti held on to her father's hand as they walked through Diagon Alley. She wished her mother was here but it fine because it was going to be a daddy-daughter day but she still missed her mother, no matter how annoying she was with chores and having to play with her brothers and sisters before she she was even able to play Quidditch but she loved her mommy anyway and she knew that daddy loves mommy very much. As much as she loves her mother she wanted to be just like her father, Asher Romalotti quidditch star! Her mother was just a healer and pretty boring at times.

"No one else in here is rubbing kisses off their head. Don't be ungrateful, Théodore." And it wasn't like anyone else was getting any kisses any time soon. She had no intention of going near the man she was legally supposes to kiss, and now that she was home...she clearly wasn't going to be finding new friends on the party scene. Married life was awful and she hated it. Something that Felicity hated more than her marriage was her older brother. Luca got absolutely none of her attention, she chose to adjust the clasp on her shoe whilst he conversed with Théodore - another thing that disgusted her. The fact that her little brother was as fluffy as a bunny when people were outrageously disrespectful and traitorous...that was the only thing that got under her skin about the youngest of the three. His fluffyness.

She returned Charlie's smile, equally as cutely...or as cute as she could be when over twenty one. Was she considered an old lady now, especially when she came out with children? Stepping out in public with three Hogwarts aged children was a whole world away from the people she had spent the six months she had been 'missing' for.

Dylan was slowly heading to Luca-ville and she gave him a look before returning her attention to her shoes. "It's perfectly well. Nicky and I are blissfully happy." Blissfully not seeing one another since their wedding day in January, more like.

What was this? His oldest daughter was getting her first wand. Her first wand, let that sink in for a bit. Asher was less than willing to admit that he did not like the fact that his little girl was growing up. Wasn't she just born yesterday?

Some days it seems like it. "Are you ready for this?" Because he wasn't. His brown eyes glanced down at his little princess. He was going to cry his baby. Asher Romalotti did not get emotional in less it was about his kids.

MJ and Andi! <3

They meeting with Andi's mom had not gone as well as Kay would have liked but in the end, little Andi was allowed to visit Diagon Alley with her. "The first place we'll be visiting is Ollivander's. This is the best place to get a wand. Are you excited?'' She looked down at the girl beside her with a smile. Kay was doing her best to explain as best as she could without confusing Andi. It did help that she was already fond of her.

Kaysha held the door open so that her company could enter. "All you need to do is go to the measuring area and the shopkeepers will be able to help you.'' She indicated the area. "I'll be right here waiting for you, Ms Rourke.''

Yay intern time

Oliver stepped through the doors of Ollivanders, thinking back instantly to getting his wand. Only this time He was an intern. Which he'd been excited about since he got the letting stating that it was happening.

Just thinking of all the kids coming in this summer to get their wands was amazing, there would most likely be some adults and stuff? Getting replacement wands and secondary wands? Aurors and all that? Was that a ting or was that just for the stories to make them seem awesome?

So many questions and LOTS of curiosity. He wanted to know more about the measuring tape. But for now He thought he should have start with finding Florian.

DuckyLinJi 04-13-2017 06:10 PM

free post for anyone who wants to rp :D

He knew he couldn't buy a wand yet. He knew that he was only ten years old but Dorian still entered the wand shop in the hope that they thought he was older than ten and that he'd get a wand for his own already.

But he soon chickened out on the idea and moved towards some chairs he had seen near the entrance and sat one of the big ones, his feet dangling in the air. The boy sat there, watching with jealousy in his eyes as students who were old enough come in and try out their new wands.

He wanted to do magic too! Maybe someone was kind enough to let him try? It couldn't hurt right? But that meant he had to ask, which he did not like. DILEMMA!

So many questions and LOTS of curiosity. He wanted to know more about the measuring tape. But for now He thought he should have start with finding Florian.

Florian had been a touch late coming in that morning due to a family emergency (concerning his morally challenged younger brother)... but upon arriving, he happened across the young Mister Lupin. His and Fiona's intern for the summer! Florian certainly hoped the young man had been on time... Being late made him irritable, but there was nothing that could be done about this now. The dilemma had been sorted and wouldn't need to be revisited. A one-off, if you would.

"Mr. Lupin! It's delightful to see your face bright and early this morning." Florian would've ventured to address the young man by his first name, but there was a strange line with professionalism, and he was hyper-aware of the guidelines. It was best to not be too lax. "Join us in the back..."

SPOILER!!: Dorian!

DILEMMA!

Younger children. They were a wonderful enigma for the thirty-one year old. If he weren't mistaken, however, Florian thought he could sense the longing permeating from the child.

Perhaps it was the expression on his face...

"Help yourself to some flowers, but try not to linger." They'd be getting busy, and he could've gotten lost from his parents!

Once Dorian had noticed that the man whom he had seen selling wands was walking his way, he panicked a little bit. What if he wasn't allowed to be here anyways? What if this area was only for paying customers? Was he going to be kicked out now?!

Before he knew it, he heard the man speak to him and he sighed softly. Okay so he wasn't mad but didn't want him to linger either. "I'm sorry, okay" he muttered, gazing past the man as he saw another eleven year old try a wand.

"Can i try once?" he asked suddenly as his blue eyes looked back up to the owner. "Just a" he swished his hand as if he was waving a wand like he had seen his father and grandfather do at home. "I'm almost eleven!" he added hopefully. "Please?" his father had always said that politeness could take a person far. Speaking of him, Dorian checked his bright orange watch around his wrist. Mweh he was going to be picked up soon, he wanted to stay longer in diagon alley!

Even though she was doing her best to avoid home right now after the news Mrs. Stewart had given her family, the words of her mother and step-father kept echoing in her ears. Was she evil and a freak of nature like they said, or something special like Mrs. Stewart seemed to think? It was hard to understand what exactly being a witch meant, when all she had known about that meant bad things, especially when her family thought the same. No wonder she had felt so different most of her life though and like her parents didn't really want her around.

A wand. All Andi knew about wands was that was how you controlled magic, or at least that was how magic people controlled it, and she was shown that much from Mrs. Stewart. Would she really be able to do stuff like that if she had her own wand? As she followed the woman into the store, she simply shrugged to the question. Was she supposed to be excited? She didn't really know what she was supposed to be feeling.

The eleven year old looked at the area where other kids were waiting to get their wand, the place where Mrs. Stewart was pointing, before looking back at her again. Yes, she realized that she was supposed to call her Professor Stewart, but she kept forgetting and it was hard to get used to anyway. "You aren't coming with me?" Yeah, she knew that it wasn't very far away, but this was all still such a new thing for her. She didn't really want to do it by herself.

Oh, had he beaten Mr. Florian there? He smiled excitedly at the Wandmaker, his mentor? Was it too early to brand him such a thing? Probably. But either way he was excited to learn! "You too, Mr. Florian! I'm really excited to get started." The boy nodded and followed Florian's lead.

"I've never really interned before so i'm not really sure what you'd like me to be doing but i'm just hoping to soak up some knowledge." Did that sound too immature?

...Mr. Florian? The wandmaker gave his young intern a surprised once over. It was strange to be addressed in that way; the one that elevated you in social standing. A token of respect, surely, but still a strange occurrence. "Just Florian is fine, unless you prefer to call me by the other." Either way, he wasn't too fussed. They would be getting busy and names would hardly matter during that whirlwind. A fun whirlwind, but still a whirlwind, nonetheless.

As for duties... If he could admit such a thing, he was also new to the intern game. Ira Banner had Sophie Brown, but their relationship was a strange, yet fascinating, one to behold. Florian wasn't nearly as unpleasant... and he would've preferred to keep this as enjoyable as possible. No grumpiness to speak of. "I think we'll start with helping to restock wands that have been a miss. The boxes are marked with shelving numbers." If he did well with that, they could move to something else.

"Is that acceptable for you?"

He'd just been about to move towards the back.. when the smol child he'd just warned about loitering requested to handle a wand. Doing a double-take, Florian...frowned, concerned now. Handling the wands before you were ready to do so was a bad idea, even though young children often got a hold of their parents'... "No wands until you've reached the right age." There was a push to seem authoritative, but.. not discouraging. Eagerness should never be frowned upon.

And...

... Truth of the matter, Florian Dudemeither-Quackenboss was simply too nice to disappoint this child. In doing so, he disappointed himself. One day... "How about something else?" It was quietly said. "Join me at the counter."

Noticing the look of surprise Oliver had to wonder if he said something wrong? But then he went over what he'd said in his head as quickly as possible. "Florian works.." Some adults were very particular about what you called them and what was acceptable. Besides he was hoping they'd be on a first name basis by the end of the summer.

And maybe he was getting ahead of himself but he had to remember to ask Florian what subjects were most important OWLs to try to ace for wandmaking cause he wasn't sure. If only Hogwarts had a seminar on it.

"Yes, i think i can handle that." His hazel eyes looking over the boxes of wands that had yet to meet their wizards. Corresponding numbers seemed the best way to do this. Oliver would organize them first and then get them onto their shelves. If only he could use MAGIC.

That measuring tape... it had been here at Ollivander's for as long as Kay could remember. In secret, she was always amused whenever someone stepped up to the Measuring Area. The tape was something to witness when it was in its element. However, she directed her attention back to Andi and shook her head. "Not this time. The shopkeepers will help you with everything you need.'' Andi got an encouraging smile from her.

The girl might not be excited now but Kay was sure this will change sometime even if not today. "First you need to be measured so go ahead. I'm sure you won't be intimidated by the tape.'' Because from what she had learnt so far about Andi, she was a determined little lady.

After three months, two weeks, and four days of counting IT WAS FINALLY TIME FOR HER TO GET HER WAND. Emma Dakest was SO EXCITED! It was only the current most BIGGEST moment of her witch LIFE. She hadn't liked being told she had to wait when she turned eleven, or the having to wait (it was TORTURE) because who had time for THAT?? It was sorta kinda okay because she was not only getting her wand now, but she was getting it with one of her bestest friends EVER.

Taking up the lead of their small group, excitedly pulling Alanna by the hand, she BURST through the doors of the wand shop with the BIGGEST grin on her face. "Do you think there's a line? I WANNA BE FIRST!" And because Emma was gonna be first, so was 'Lanna. Bestest friends were always first TOGETHER.

She must obviously have been dreaming and if she was it was the absolute best dream in the entire world--next to the one where Justine Janvier replied to a letter from her (WHICH ACTUALLY WASN'T A DREAM JUST LIKE THIS WASN'T A DREAM AND REALLY HOW DID ONE CONTAIN THEIR EXCITEMENT????).

Easily, if you were Alanna Botros.

Never wanting to draw too much, or any, attention to herself the 11 year old quietly allowed Emma to drag her into the shop. She was soooooo excited she might have exploded into fireworks and confetti but on the outside, the little girl looked almost subdued. The only give away to the level of energy and nerves running through her came from bright, wild eyes currently searching the shop to find a response to the question posed.

"It's a small one." She all but whispered, tugging her friend to a stop because she KNEW Emma might try to drag them to the front and others would stare and the little girl wasn't ready for that kind of anxiety on what was already such a BIG day.

Lanna glanced behind her to be sure her brother was still there before looking to the line again. What if they run out before we get there?" HOW WOULD SHE BE A PROPER WHICH THEN?????????

Emma didn't have the SLIGHTEST idea on what Lanna was going on about when she was talking about size (small wands? Those didn't EXIST did they??? Emma wanted a BIG WAND) until her bestest friend pulled back against her tugging to the back of his line. What? Oh. Fine. She bounced from one foot to another. "I want it to move faster." She wanted her wand RIGHT NOW. The wait had already been too long. Would her mama let her use it right after she got it? She peaked back a glance at her mama, who was too busy watching over Jamey to notice.

Still too busy noticing everything and everyone else, that she had to replay the words for them to really sink in and have her brown eyes growing BIG. "They don't run out! They can't run out. My papa says they have a whole BUNCH, even for when you break your wand." Which would neverrrr happen with her. But just in case, she looked back at her mama again, this time with a purpose, and then looked back at Alanna with confidence when she got a head nod. "See, I'm right. We'll get our wands!" And maybe more for her brothers too!

Catherine really did want to go into the shop, but she had never done it before, so she... didn't.

The 4 year-old politely stood outside, gazing through the big glassed display windows as some people she didn't know did what they had to do inside.

She could feel her curiosity growing inside of her, so much that she could almost explode! But no, no, she wasn't going in first. She looked tentatively at her brother and then up at their 'uncle', hoping they would go into the shop so she could take a closer look at... everything.

Was he going to get paid for this? Hopefully. Hopefully. Having been guilt-tripped by his cousin Mordred, Ethan agreed to take out his twins on a Saturday to visit the old wizarding shopping centre. It was a good thing that the kids knew how to follow orders, but then again, they were both so young to actually listen. See exhibit A: Catherine Mordaunt. He'd explicitly said not to wander far but she did. Ethan, who feared Mordred's wrath the most, had to drag Noah in a haste while the male twin was eating his ice cream.

Merlin, if only he could lasso these children and attach them both to his legs, he would.

Sighing a quiet relief, Ethan approached Catherine with her twin sporting a messy face filled with sticky substance, and an ice cream stained front. He'd have to deal with that later. Or face Sophie's wrath this time. "So, anything interesting in there, Catherine?" Of course Ethan knew what was being sold in this shop. However, switching his thoughts to that of a four-year-old came naturally to him.

Aksjfsdkfjdsknring!!! Why were they running?! "UNCLE ETHAAAN!" Noah wailed in protest as he got ice cream all over his face and up his nostrils. Apparently, their uncle forgot that he's got short legs to keep up with his strides.

Once they slowed down, Noah wriggled his hand free from his uncle and wiped his face with the back of his hand and onto his shirt. He wrinkled up his nose and let out a loud sneeze! "AAHHHCHOOO!!!" Good, ice cream's out!

More wiping happened (on himself and his uncle's trousers), and Noah joined his sister up front the store. He had his dirty nose pressed on the glass and looked at the objects on display. "They are selling sticks, Uncle." Now what was so fascinating about that?

When her brother sneezed and goo and ice cream came out of all the holes in his face, pretty much, Catherine sent him a disgusted, unimpressed look. She didn't need to tell him that was gross, her look alone was enough.

She opened her mouth to reply to their uncle when Noah butted in and said they were selling sticks. "They're not sticks, they're wands! Like ones mummy and daddy have!" Duh!!! So much for having an intelligent sibling!!!

The little brunette rolled her eyes and, rather annoyed, looked back at the shop. "Can we go in?" She asked, directed at uncle Ethan because her brother knew nothing.

Noah simply gave his twin a toothy smile while snot dripped down his nostrils. "I got it all out!" he exclaimed, rather proud of his achievement. The disgusted look on Catherine's face wasn't registered at all. He thought it was a normal expression from her. Did that mean he was always disgusting? Probably.

Noah made a face and shrugged at his sister's reply, "That's what I call it. Sticks." It was a magical stick...only it had a fancy name. So, technically, he was still correct.

So much for having a sibling who's like a walking and talking Wikipedia...

Ethan simply opened and closed his mouth as he watched Noah sneezed his brain out. "Bless you," he said as he got his handkerchief out and wiped the child's face with it. He was rather amused by the little debate that went on, only to be asked if they could go in.

Ethan sighed and shrugged. "I don't think we can, sweetie," he said patting Catherine's head before continuing, "Unless you are of age, and is in need of a wand, then we can go in." he said looking down at his two charges. "One day though, your mum and dad will accompany you inside to get your own wands," Ethan felt that he wasn't convincing enough to peel away the curious Mordaunt from the window. Noah however, was more than ready to go to the next shop.

Parenting. Who said it would be easy?

Yuck, yuck, yuck, yuck! Noah was as gross as he could be, no wonder Catherine often had her nose wrinkled. Gross boy!

And he called wands sticks because he wanted to. Another eye-roll to you, Noah, for being silly, silly boy.

But... they couldn't go in????? Catherine gasped quietly and took a step back to fully look at uncle Ethan's eyes. "We can't go in even if we don't buy anything??" She asked surprised, her feelings hurt. She wanted to look at the wands! "They don't allow us in if we don't buy a wand..?" The little girl asked again, a pout she couldn't control taking over her disgusted look as she hung her head and looked at her feet. "But I want to look at the wands..." Aaand her eyes started to water.

PatInTheHat 04-16-2018 12:40 AM

As far as traditions went, taking his sisters to get their first wand was high up on the list for favorites in Sebastien Toussaint's book. Surprising them with pets was also a favorite of his, but considering how Leecey wasn't a fan of caring for things (and she veto'd him when he asked her about it), he would save that for one of his many cousins or something.

It was still a shock to him that he sister was old enough to have a wand. He seriously doubted that she would put it to use, but at least she would have it and hopefully learn to use it properly, and not have others preform magic for her. Because people wouldn't always be around to protect her, and she needed to know how to do that herself.

..... Maybe he wouldn't move out of the house just yet. The thought of his baby sister out at school was suddenly, mildly terrifying.

That was part why carried her into the wand shop (another part was him just being accustomed to carrying her around), effortlessly parting through the sea of soon-to-be students eager to get their own wand. "You only have to go over there." He pointed to where the measuring tape was whizzing around kids her age, sizing them each up. "And get measured, then head over to the wandmaker. They'll get you sorted." And he would pay.
