Overview
The Thanatos family was always a family of 4 - the patriarch, Renner Thanatos, the twins, Vera and Vasco, and the youngest little cherub, Vesper. But as the kids all began to grow up and leave the nest to go to boarding school to start their magical educations, they also couldn't help but worry about leaving their Papa home all alone by himself.

Which was why in the summer of 2111, the two girls hatched a plan to try to set their Papa up with someone else. They hadn't expected that unsuspecting individual to be Quidditch star, Raju Misra, nor did they expect exactly how well their half thought out plan would truly go.

Now in the summer of 2112, the two men have been together for nearing a year and things have been progressing well. But how well will the kids and Raju mesh together? And will things continue to go well?

Well then, one could say that Raju was living the dream, all thanks to his husband. And no, he never minded seeing Renner in such a state. In fact, he found all such scenarios to be quite… attractive. Or extra attractive, rather. “Blue brain,’’ he answered promptly. “Too smelly. Too mouldy.” The Quidditch coach had never tried it nor would he ever. Now he chuckled. “What would you do if I said that’s the only reason I said it?” The question was posed in a flirtatious manner. He patted Ren’s face then headed for the door with a smirk.

“Hmm. I guess we can wing it. Thanks, love.” Ren was always such a gentleman. Raju exited and inhaled the fresh air deeply. Then a hand was held out for the other man to take. “Maybe we can see if we find some more local chocolates.” Which reminded him that there was still the surprise reveal he needed to make to Renner. Perhaps during the course of their current adventure. "Should we go left or right?"

Living the dream? Just so Raju made sure to include his wonderful husband in on this dream. Joking. Ren was already living the dream, the man had all he could ever ask for and so much more. Well, he would surely have to keep that in mind! Ahem. Ha! Renner chuckled. "Smelly and moldy? That's fair I suppose.. but have you actually tasted it before?" He had. And honestly, he himself wasn't even a fan of said cheese. GASP! Brown eyes widened in mock surprise. "Rude. So rude." Lucky for Raj that Ren knew he was only teasing.

"Wing it we shall." Why did this sound like something their children would say? Perhaps they wall rubbed off on him a little too much over the years. Ren winked, following the husband outside, his hand slipping into the other man's. "Oh? So you ARE looking to spoil dinner tonight?" The laughter was playful and tone teasing once more. Surprise? This man was none the wiser when it came to any of that. All he assumed was they were on yet another short holiday to enjoy each other's company. "Right. You can't go wrong with choosing right." Hopefully.

Any dream of his would always involve Renner, and the kids too! This wasn’t even a question. His family was his life, even though the three older kiddos were off doing their own things. At least he had Vi close for now. “Nope. The odor and the look is enough to make me not want to. I don’t think you would either.” Or maybe Ren would? Now, he laughed again. “That’s me! The rude one.” He winked, indicating to the husband that the teasing was well received.

Perhaps the kiddos’ spontaneity had rubbed off on their fathers. It would make sense given that the family was a tight - knit one. The second Renner’s hand settled snugly in his, Raju felt more at peace. He was always calm, hence his nickname ‘Captain Cool’, but Renner was a bonus for his nervous system. “Sort of,’’ the Quidditch Coach replied. “You know what my sweet tooth’s like… I can hardly resist them.” He tugged the other man in the chosen direction. “Though, if we do come across a restaurant first, I wouldn’t object to us having a real meal. On a scale of one to five, how hungry are you? With five being very…”

Then all was right in the world. Renner couldn't agree more. Why did all the children have to grow up so quickly? It would only be a few more years until Viano was off on his own as well. Then what would they do? Their home would be very quiet. Laughter couldn't be held back this time. "That is fair. It is a rather odd cheese, is it not?" It took a special person to be able to eat that. "I'm glad we can agree on one thing." They agreed on many many things that much was true.

Was it the kids who rubbed off on them or the other way around? Well, Raju was quite welcome for the sense of calm that he brought to him. "Yes, yes.. but that sweet tooth of yours always helps me out." He always had Raj to taste test all of his sweets and give an honest opinion. Nod nod. "Alright, I wouldn't say no to a nice meal. Oh, I would say perhaps a solid three and a half? By the time we find a place to sit and eat though I'm sure that number will rise." His hunger level always went up whenever food was involved and within reach.

The idea of them adopting another kiddo had crossed Raju’s mind but only briefly. He thought that their four was enough; besides, he wanted to have all the time with Renner after Vi went out into the world on his own. Call him greedy but he knew what he wanted. As for that cheese, yes it was indeed a very odd one. But now he was putting that out of his mind and simply enjoying the views and company.

“It’s a good thing you decided to date me, then,’’ Raju remarked, pausing to peek at a window displaying comfortable looking ski jackets for sale. In that moment, he was also taken back to the day he and Renner first met, when those girls of his faked an emergency situation in Diagon Alley. Of course, they confided the truth sometime later after he and Renner started dating. He was also thinking about their first date, that incomplete one at the Bowling Alley which had to be completed at another time. Not that the overall first date had ended badly.

“Sounds like you’re very hungry then,’’ Raju chuckled. “Do you think any of these jackets are the kids’ style, Ren?”

Hm, so no more children for them. Perhaps they could discuss a dog. Or maybe even a cat. Not that it mattered right this moment but Ren occasionally liked to think ahead. As for Raju being greedy, that was more than alright with him.

"The best idea. And we have the girls to thank for that." Sneaky as they had been, if it weren't for them he wouldn't be here with Raju right now. So, technically all he could do was thank them. When the husband stopped, so did he. The ski jackets now catching his attention too. It was a very nice selection for a small shop. "When am I not hungry when we're out and about?" Sampling as much food as he could when on vacation was what everyone did, right? The jackets? "Well that's an easy one for Vesper. The more colorful the happier she'll be." Colorful and bright.

If anyone were to ask Raju right now if he wanted to adopt a dog, a cat or any other pet, his answer would be a resounding 'no'. Cheddar was enough, even if the little guy was mostly now cared for by Vesper. The main reason for his answer would be because of all his time being with Renner - from the time they began dating to them being married - they had not been without much free time with the kiddos around. Not that Raju was complaining.

“We sure do, and they know it all too well. You know what? They’d be excellent matchmakers if they really want to.” Raju doubted that even was aware of what his scheming girls had been up to. “That’s true, you and your generous appetite.” He chuckled, thinking it was a pity that he himself was not a really good cook. Otherwise, he would be making surprise meals for Renner. As it was, his husband was the one always cooking for him.

Renner’s comment made him laugh. “We definitely need to get Vesp one of these then. We can circle back here after we’ve explored a bit more.” He tugged the other man’s hand. “Come on, slow poke.” Raju’s tone was teasing.

No? Not even a perfectly trained one that could go everywhere with them? Kidding. Perhaps someday it would happen. For now they had more than enough going on. Cheddar was an adorable little guy. And how Raven didn't look to Cheddar as food, he didn't know. He was more than happy that the two unlikely creatures were 'friends'.

"Don't go telling them that! They may think it's their chance to set up everyone they know," Ren chuckled. He could see it now. Both their girls matching all their single friends and family with others. Oh, the headaches they would all be in for. "I can't help it that I like food." Hmm, well if the husband wanted to learn to cook, Ren would gladly teach him. Consider it another way for them to bond and grow together.

Nod nod. "She would love it. Especially if they had a rainbow one." Ves was a bright one since they say she was born. The tugging of his hand had him walking a bit faster. "Me? You were the one that stopped to look." The teasing as always was mutual.

Not even a well trained one. Raju was very sure of what he wanted. Or in this case, sure of what he didn’t want. It was true that Cheddar and Raven were friends. Raju had rather suspected that Raven saw how much Cheddar meant to Vesper who had developed an erumpent of a relationship. The smart bird must have decided that Cheddar was off limits because of that.

Raju laughed. “Are we sure we don’t want to tell them? They really will have options in terms of career paths.” The thought of the girls playing matchmaker to everyone was such an amusing one. But as the conversation turned to food, he smiled. “That’s true. And I know what you’re thinking so I’ll remind you that I don’t want to learn because I love watching you cook. Besides, I doubt that I’d ever be as great a chef as you are.” Just the facts, husband! Not to mention it was quite a treat to sit upon the kitchen counter and watch Renner move around the kitchen.

“We’ll get her a rainbow one then. And colours that match Vi, Vera’s and Vasco’s personalities.” The couple was off again, with Raju adding, “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Smiling devilishly, he led Renner into the nearest restaurant.

Well then, it was a good thing they had Cheddar and Raven for a bit of fun entertainment from time to time. Indeed! Ren would absolutely agree to that. The way Vesper had taken to that tiny ball of fur was crazy! One would think that the little thing belonged to his youngest daughter. It was quite sweet honestly.

"Hmm..." Ren pulled a thoughtful face before shaking his head. "Most definitely not. Could you imagine them gloating about all the relationships they helped with? It would be never ending!" It was a thought he didn't care to continue thinking about at this moment. Ha! Cue his own laughter at this. "Oh, I see now! You only married me for my cooking," he joked, trying to hold back any more of his laughter. Obviously this wasn't at all true. Plus, he loved to cook.

Nod nod. "How cute they'll all look wearing them together." That was a photo opportunity in the making for sure. "No? I think you do." Renner grinned, winking at Raju. Not one question was asked about what restaurant they were even entering, as it didn't matter. As long as food was being served.

Raju couldn’t help but laugh once again as he peeked at Renner’s thoughtful face and subsequent words. “I’m not being biased or anything like that but I really do think that Vesper would be the one to do a little extra gloating. Though I also know that both would enjoy the attention.” But the girls meant well, and they always would. He loved them both with all his heart. Hearing Ren’s laugh, Raju smirked slightly. It always made him slightly smug whenever he made the husband laugh. “I don’t know what you’re talking about,’’ the Quidditch Coach replied in a warble sort of tone. “I mean, the fact that you cook excellently… I had to take advantage of it.” Not really. The fact that he himself couldn’t cook, and Renner could was a lovely bonus to this marriage, in his opinion.

“Nuh uh,” Raju replied, feeling like a silly teenager. It was always that way when he and Renner were having their lighthearted banter. After they had both been led to a table and given menus, he continued where they left off. ‘'I still don’t know what you’re talking about. I do know, however, that we’re going to have a good time with the food. Just look at all these options! What do you think you’ll get?”

Biased? Ren would never think that about his husband. "Truthfully I do think you're quite right in that assumption."The gloating may never stop with those two young ladies. Both of whom were growing up splendidly. As were their boys. Merlin, he's so proud of them all. "No? Are you sure about that? If I stopped cooking you'd be alright?" His tone very much matched the amusement shown all over his face. "And here I thought all along it was for all the chocolates." He knew Raju enjoyed them as much as he loved creating them.

"Yes-huh," Ren replied, nodding his head childishly. It may seem silly but it was always done in good fun. Laughter fell from his lips as he settled into his seat at their table. "So who was the one selecting coats for the kids?" Cue the slight eyebrow raise. The moment the menu was in his hands, dark eyes scanned over everything. "I have absolutely no idea... I suppose we get a few things to try and take what we don't finish back with us." Nothing wrong with having extra food. They both knew it would get eaten in no time at all.

Raju would never stop gushing about his and Renner’s four kiddos. The family had been wonderful with just three, but when Vi was officially adopted, it became complete. Their youngest had been through a lot but thanks to some intervention, he was on his way to doing much, much better. Raju was rather happy and quite aware of how fortunate he was to have them all. “Not really. But I suppose I’ll have to find myself another cook.” He stroked his chin in fake thoughtfulness. Yes, Renner, he saw that amusement. ”It’s about both. But it is true you make the best chocolates.” A smirk played his lips.

The Quidditch Coach burst out laughing. Honestly, Renner was so adorable when he was being childish. “Can’t remember that either,’’ he remarked airily as his gaze returned to the menu. “That’s a good idea. Let’s see… I’ll try raclette and Älplermagronen. I know that much for certain.”

This was more than fair. Merlin knew how often Renner went on and on about how fabulous their kids were. Having more kids was one thing he had never considered, that is until the day they had met Viano. That boy fit into their family right away, definitely the last missing piece to the puzzle. GASP! He would do what now? The dark haired man stared at Raju with a look of pure but obviously fake astonishment. "Ah, but surely you'd be greatly let down as no one is as good a cook as me." A playful wink was given. "I should hope that you'd think so since you eat most of them." Gentle laughter spilled from his lips once more.

Ren's smile grew. What a wonderful sound that was. "A sudden strike of amnesia, hm? Might have to get that looked into when we get back home." Yup, he could continue on with the silliness that was happening between them. Deep brown eyes looked over the menu, a finger trailing over each item as if that would help him decide. "If you're going to order those... I think I'll get...Zürcher Geschnetzeltes. Shall we get some Fondue or Berner Platte?" It was such a tough choice to make when all the food was so delicious!

Renner’s reaction to his teasing almost made Raju break his attempted seriousness by laughing. “Quite confident, aren’t you?” he spoke up now, the teasing tone very evident. “But you’re right. I would be let down as no one can possibly live up to your standard of cooking.” The good food definitely helped keep him in shape for his role as a Quidditch coach. “Is that your way of saying that I may contribute to your shop making a loss?” Because Raju certainly ate a lot of chocolates, that too for free.

“Sure, we can do that. Or we can wait to see if this particular memory surfaces soon.” This sort of silliness was what Raju lived for. How lovely that his other half matched his silliness and energy? This was another department in which he scored with being in a relationship with Ren. “We can share what we’ve chosen, like we usually do. Hmm… how about both? Whatever’s leftover, we can take it with us.” To-go boxes for the win!

"Do I have any reason not to be? We both know how much you love my cooking." He wasn't aiming to brag but he did have to say that he was rather good at what he did. Ha! Ren laughed heartedly, grinning widely at the husband. "Not at all. If anyone was to do that it would be Vasco." That boy.. well young man now, could eat his weight in chocolate. All their children are so much sugar he didn't know how they still had teeth in their mouths.

"Perhaps we can wait it out for a short while. Just don't mention it to the kids, they'd insist we're getting old." Which neither of them weren't! It was lovely, wasn't it? They certainly were the perfect match for one another. Ren nodded at the suggestion. "What a good idea. We can enjoy whatever we don't eat tonight while watching TV." More food was always better than not enough!
