 In the final days of the Third Wizarding War, Dante Zabini was apprehended at the Ministry of Magic by members of Magical Law Enforcement for his involvement with, and assisting of, prominent Neo-Alliance members. The investigation of the Neo-Alliance has been long and arduous, no stone left unturned, determined as the Department of Magical Law Enforcement are in ensuring the matter is soundly addressed, and that the leaders and key figures are swiftly dealt with.
After around two years in custody, several interviews and discussions, and plenty more back and forth between Law Enforcement officials, another meeting has been arranged. Mr Zabini has been brought to the Ministry of Magic by Aurors to speak to the head of Magical Law Enforcement.
The interview room is spacious and well lit, largely bare but not uncomfortable, and a viewing mirror spans one wall. There is water to drink, and a plate of biscuits to one side, suggesting this might be a lengthy conversation. Potentially.

Not a single word was said as Dante Zabini was escorted to the Ministry by the idiot Aurors. It was a right that he apparently had, regardless of the restraints that he personally felt were unnecessary and violated his rights. But there was no need for him to speak to them, nor did he even bother cracking into their troll-like minds. Today he wished only to speak with one person. He hoped his meeting would actually lead to something that would work in his favour. Prison was not a good look for him.
The viewing mirror confirmed as much. Just a few short years ago the Frenchman was in his prime: dressed in his finest, the highest-ranked Obliviator, an asset to the Alliance. He could barely recognise the person that was being reflected. His affluent garb was not present, his former significance nonexistent, and his physical appearance had noticeably thinned.
Hands folded, he remained quite still, oddly statue-esque. Dante's dark eyes were now closed, which would remain as such until Upstead decided enough time had passed for him to make an appearance. He had no interest in taking another glance at himself, and he certainly was not invested in the water or biscuits.

Jake had steeled himself for this particular meeting. None of this Neo-Alliance business was at all palatable, and some aspects were worse than others - much worse - but this was particularly unpleasant, particularly tricky. Despite being held in interview room, the meeting was set to be more conversation than interrogation. What could, potentially, be the culmination of efforts regarding this particular ex-Ministry employee.
He made for the room in question upon receiving word that Zabini was there, entering with a slim file - not the entire case file, not by half - under one arm.
"Mr Zabini," Jake said, perfectly courteous, once the door had closed behind him with a firm clunk. He regarded the man seated as he joined him, and similarly reflected upon the physical changes. "Thank you for meeting with me. I trust they've been treating you well?" Well enough. Prisoner or no, he had his rights and his humanity. And, prisoner though he very much was, he could well have turned down this meeting. There was a choice there, but Jake suspected that really, it wasn't much of a decision. Cooperation was key, in this case, and keys could be awfully tempting to those who had been confined.

The sound of the door opening caused the man to flick open his eyes. He took in the sight of Upstead, who looked just the same to him. The file in the department head's hands though was of interest. Dante inwardly was surprised by the size of it, expecting it to be much larger - not quite as large as Sian's surely was, but he did expect his own to be a little thicker than what it currently was.
But he didn't ask about the file. Instead he returned his eye contact back to Upstead. He reminded himself to blink.
"Could be better," he eventually responded coolly, letting his outward appearance speak more than words could. "But I'm still here, so I assume that means I am being treated well enough by Auror standards." That was all he had to say on that matter.
Dante was quick to change the topic of conversation. "And how have your investigations been going lately, Mr. Upstead? Smoothly, I hope?" He had a hunch that investigations were not moving along as quickly as Law Enforcement would like. They were, after all, still willing to meet with him after all this time yet again.
