I am so sorry I'm so behind! Dumb computer! Victoria was taking it all in. She was happy to be back at work, but personal kept fluttering into her mind. Her eyes scanned the area to see if he had arrived yet, but when she didn't see him she turned her attention to others that were entering. She had many things to do and getting the ministry morale back up after the crazy that went on was at the top of her list. Seeing Cole come in she gave the other department head a little wave as she took a sip of her drink. He seemed like a nice man from what she had seen in the few meetings they had since he was hired. Seeing the minister she gave Charles a smile, "I will have to give them a try. Everything looks great. This was a very good idea to start our reopening off." She gave the other department heads a wave as they came in as well. It was nice to have a full leadership staff again. Cheese Straw? She glanced at her division head before shaking her head no "I think I'm good, but thank you. I heard the little sandwiches are worth a try." It was nice to see her own department starting to flood into the area she nodded at Javier and there was the new employee, that was nice to see her. She had only met her during interviews so they would have to get to know each other a little more. As she moved to speak to Laila, she heard someone speaking to her and turned to see Jacob, "Yes I expect everyone in the office and ready to meet by 8 a.m. We have many things to get through." They had a plan to get started and she needed all hands on deck. |

Text Cut: Minister! Laila shook the hand of the charming young man. 'I'm so pleased to meet you as well..,' she said, smiling with relief. The Minister seemed nice, sweet and down to earth! This was a good start. Wow! 'I'm very, very excited to start! Unfortunately, I haven' t had the pleasure of meeting her as of yet,' she said, sincerely. |
Quote:
Aaand apparently she wasn't supposed to know her. Good. "Nice to meet you, Laila." Olly gave her a polite nod and a quick smile. "I'm Olly Clarke. I'm the head of the Department of Environmental Regulation and Protection." What a mouthful. But saying DERP still sounded a bit strange in her ears. Plus, people generally didn't know what it meant. "Are you new to London?" |
Text Cut: our girl Lex Benzi grinned, appreciating Alexa Cambridge's workaholic tendencies yet again. Aside from his partner, Lex was probably the person he was closest to at the office, following the Great Distancing of Benzi Rider and Evie Shacklebolt. Who, he noted out the corner of his eye, had arrived with Angelo Toussaint. They looked happy, and he was happy for them. It's nice to see people who could make the relationship thing work. "It's currently a report, a sighting and a very early start for me tomorrow morning, he elaborated, rubbing the back of his neck. "Emma's with her grandparents having an epic sleepover so I'm free to go hunt as I please," which was all sorts of great, because the almost six year old had developed a sixth sense of sorts and she seemed to always know when something big landed on his desk, so to speak. Grandma Rachel and Grandpa Bernard's super swell sleepovers combined with Nodding politely at this Javi individual who Lex was talking to, he turned to survey the room again, looking for people to avoid. He spotted his former Astronomy professor (Airey) and gave him a nod, then his eyes fell on the new Minister. Hmm. Oh there he was! The Minister of Magic himself! Smoothing down her blindingly white designer dress, she flicked her wand out of its disillusioned wrist holder, conjured a small heart shaped mirror to check her reflection, and vanished it quickly when she deemed herself acceptable. Bambi walked confidently over, taking her time as she listened in on conversations as she passed certain groups, delighted by this entire thing. British wizardry's finest! And she's among them! If only Dad had been able to make it tonight, to see her at her first Ministry event. She was determined to make it work here. She'd be the best, most hard working, never late Accidents and Catastrophes employee the department has ever seen. No, the Ministry! ... Or, well, she'll try. Trying is the most important part! A lesson she's been teaching Ariadne from the moment her baby was born. Try, try and try harder. Success will come to those who try! |
Quote:
'Oh..You're DERP?,' she asked. Oops..that was so not how it was supposed to come out.' Umm..sorry..I mean..that's nice..my granddad used to work there..so that's how he used to refer to it,' she added as an explanation. |
Quote:
"Good, thank you. You?" She took the girl's hand and gave it a quick shake. "Yeah?" Almost everyone around here had gone to Hogwarts of course. "I went to Hogwarts too. Hufflepuff." There. Wasn't she just doing great with this talking to new people thing? Sipping from her wine glass, Olly looked around for a moment but soon found herself raising her eyebrows at Laila again. "Yeah?" Now that was genuinely interesting. "What did he work as?" Did she know him? Probably not though, right? He'd be too old? That girl's grandfather would be......huh. Well, maybe did know him. |
The best thing in Rusty's eyes about working at the Ministry of Magic was that his wife also worked at the Ministry, albeit in different departments. Actually that was probably a good thing too - she was less likely to get sick of his mug when she was working so hard on level 1 doing all those advise-y things that she did. Impressive woman, that Marilyn Killick. How she managed to keep things afloat as well as she did while that joke of a former minister held office was beyond him, though it was a pretty good indication that the rest of the staff on level one, and of course Ms Bones, were on to it. Good thing too because none of that stuff was anything he could help out with.... not unless they wanted him to conveniently obliviate someone of course. "Want a drink Mar?" He'd play the dutiful husband and get her one. She deserved it. And as much as he adored their small son, a break was nice and even though this was a work thing it felt almost like a date, so he was all for it. Being back at the ministry in general was a good thing too. Not that he'd been off work exactly. The ministry downtime had meant the building was closed sure, but there was still things to be done. As Head Obliviator, Rustin had run a team out of a small hired office that for some reason had smelled alternately of cabbage and firecrackers. Making sure his own clothes didn't pick up that stink had kept him busy even when he wasn't out on a job. He wasn't looking forward to all the debriefing though. Or filing paperwork. There was so much paperwork. So much. So. Much. |
Minister, Angelo, also hi Benzi and Jessa Text Cut: Angelo Evie was aware of Angelo's opinion being bodyguards and actually thought it quite humorous that it bothered his ego in juuuuuust the slightest way. Maybe he was good at pretending it was fine, but she found it humorous in just the slight. The guarded was now doing the guarding. But that was their job, after all, wasn't it? To protect the wizarding world from evil. Besides, from what she could tell, she liked the Undersecretary. Her eyes dropped to the snack Angelo offered her, but she only reached out to tap his wand away. "No, I'll spoil my appetite." And Angelo knew how much Evie liked to eat her curry. She wanted her entire stomach to be full of it. No muesli bar. Instead, she looped her arm through his, casually watching the group for her coworkers. She saw the Minister, who she was pleased about so far, chatting with others. He seemed like a natural at this cocktail hour. Quite the charming man. Hopefully he would get some work done starting... tomorrow. Her eyes then landed on Benzi, an old friend and coworker. She smiled at Jessa and wiggled her fingers at Benzi, a keen sparkle in her eye. Sparkle? Yeah. It had been there lately and she couldn't seem to ditch it. Quote:
And she wasn't a stranger to public speaking these days either, so she gave him a nod. "Of course, I'd be delighted to." Anything he had to say, January was almost certain that she could back him up. She had a feeling that they were going to make a great team. "I'm glad to see you enjoying yourself," she added, glancing around at the happy party-goers, her eyes quickly landing on her two aurors before returning to his. |
Quote:
Before she could think it over further, she was being handed a drink. Of course it was non-alcoholic as they were always careful about that - no more wine for her in the next little while. "To being back at work," she echoed with a smile on her face before taking a sip. At least she would be back for NOW. Of course she would be on leave soon enough, but she would be enjoying her time at the office for as long as she could until she was forced to stay at home. And then it would be hard to get her back to work again after maternity leave was finished. There would be so many things for her to do with the kids. Sigh. "I'm hungry. I hope they have some nice food here." Of course it SMELLED nice, but that wasn't always an indicator of anything. Sometimes food could be so disappointing. |
Maddox and Hollingsberry too ^_^ HA! Indeed, this was fresh blood for her department. Megan shamelessly looked Ursula up and down. Not bad looking, the blond thought. Too bad Megan was way younger... and Megan herself was married. “Welcome, Ursula! I’m Megan and I work in your new department. What fun we’ll have when we’re not working.’’ Megan rolled her eyes good naturedly in Maddox’s direction. She wasn’t stupid and knew that he was shoving welcoming Ursula to their Department on her. “Sure thing, bossman. I can deal with all the newbs.’’ The PART officer didn’t mind. It was that moment that she remembered the Minister. MERLIN! She had simply forgotten her manners. “Hi again, Minister!’’ she greeted Hollingsberry. “Megan Baines, PART Officer. I hope I’ll see you around often and we not just meet on official work business.’’ “Eliora! Hi.’’ Megan wasn’t about Eliora get away without meeting the newbs. “Come introduce yourself.’’ Lucas was about to put up a bit of chat with Hollingsberry but the older man became occupied with someone else. The younger one understood. Everyone wanted to speak with the Minister so he went off in another direction. Perhaps he’d find some other familiar faces- both from his Department and from the bunch that were newly employed. The next person he spied was Janis. “Janis.’’ Lucas grinned as he appeared at her arm. “All clear of evil plants, I assume?’’ Noticing Javi, Milo and Jacob, the Quidditch Head shot them a nod. It was also at that moment he heard someone (Laila) introduce themselves. “Hi, Laila. Welcome. I’m Lucas, Quidditch Division Head. It’s nice to meet you.’’ |
Did he... what? Milo looked up from his plate of vegan mini sandwiches as the woman (Eliora) asked him if he had farted. "Uh, no.." Wait, had he? The blunt question caught him off guard and gave him pause. He glanced behind him - oh hey, there was Lucas... bro nod - then shook his head and looked back at her again. "Nope, sure didn't. Just wanted you to excuse my reach," he explained with a smile, regaining his casual composure. "Oh... I don't, not really," he said, looking sorely disappointed with the menu choice. "Unless that's all there is and then I suppose they'll do." Because vegan sandwiches were better than no sandwiches. Kendra didn't miss the smile directed her way from the new Minister - the one who shared a name with her ex-husband. No, she needed to stop that thought right where it was because they were not one in the same. She returned the polite smile and lifted her glass of wine in greeting. Oh... was he going to make a speech? She noted his journey towards the front of the room and kept it in mind to pay attention as she continued to make small talk with a few people. She gave the man (Bear) at the fringe of the crowd more of a confident smile, noting that he appeared rather nervous. Kendra half-wondered if it was her that elicited that sort of response or if it was just the general atmosphere. But she kept that thought to herself. "They can be a little tedious at times," she began, taking a leisurely sip of her wine. "I've been to several of these....but this one seems nice and casual. It's a nice change of pace." Oh, and there was the younger woman she had nodded to earlier. Kendra turned as she heard Sam greet her and she gave her small but friendly smile. "Hello, Sam. It's a pleasure to meet you as well," she said, giving her a firm handshake. "Kendra Jordan-Durand. Head of Magical Transportation." Mingling somehow seemed so much easier now that she had been promoted. |
Physically inclined. Yes. Yes the man was and though Airey didn't agree on that bit, still loud. Loud enough to bother the cat man. It was all the same to him, Airey finding trouble with his arm currently slung around his shoulder...except.........ew......what was that? Maddox retracted his hand about the same time his DEAR FRIEND touched his neck and retracted his own. "Merlin's beard Airey. This will be half an hour of licking. Ew." He eased away from the man wiping whatever it was back on the man's suit before circling him once to get a look at it. His attention was momentarily drawn by Ursula's thanks and Megan's agreement to be the welcoming committee. "Splendid!" One less thing he had to do in the long list he typically didn't feel like getting done. He watched Eliora make her entrance. Maddox offered her a nod of greeting but she seemed busy with the new bloke and she was honestly a lot more work than he was prepared for. Speaking of work, Airey needed someone. Well. "Megan can do, can't you Megan?" When she was done her welcoming duties anyway. Maddox brought his hand to his nose to get a whiff, scrunching his nose after he caught the scent. "You got a leak down in there or something?" "Belladonna." She repeated, a smile playing on her lips at Olly's suggestion. "It might just work." If not, the Head Auror certainly wasn't at a loss for ideas. "Any big decrees to look out for now that you're in charge of the flesh eaters?" Of course, there was other stuff too, but the former Gryffindor had very specific interests and if the plant wasn't likely to kill you, it wasn't likely to be on her radar. The extended overseas trip Bee mentioned, well, "Sounds epic, depending on where you went and what you did of course." If it was anything like what Lou had had her heart set on then it likely wasn't as exciting as she would like but she was getting better at the principle of to each their own. "Any plans now that you're back? You missed a ton. We had a nutjob for a Minister--I'm sure you heard about that. Turned this place into a zoo. Merlin he's lucky neither me nor Emm had anything from the food court. He's up in holding right now. I wouldn't guarantee he'd still be in one piece if we had." Things could've ended very differently for Mr. Nickels. Very different, indeed. Javy got a welcoming grin when he came over. It was obvious he wasn't the sort to mingle in a crowd but that's what this thing was for and it'd certainly make things go over more smoothly. "I'm alright. Suffering through these unnecessary formalities like everyone else. Places I'd rather be, but it's not the worst." Nah. The Ministry had forced her to suffer through even less exciting meet ups. "How's Cami?" Ugh. Benzi was killing her here. All these hints without actually SAYING what it was and by the sound of it, something wonderful--Alexa Cambridge wonderful anyway. "If I swung my Head Auror weight, would you fully brief me on the situation and let me tag along?" Of course, she knew as Head Auror, she COULD literally do this but no, it was still his case and the amusement in her tone was just that. She wasn't ordering him about--but Merlin it'd be nice. Her own cases had gone cold. "What a coincidence, Emm's at her grandparent's too. Insisted her cousins tag along. Leave's Arisa free but my dad's got the full force of it." Three kids, two and a half of them were screamers. She felt his pain. |
Sorry for the very short post Quote:
The idea of only knowing someone as just a friend from work, not having any social contact with them outside of work was such a lousy idea. Ursula wanted to know if she had things in common with the people she worked with apart from the type of work they do. Talking about outside interests was always something that she liked to do. |
Quote:
"Then no getting hangry while we wait this out." Angelo teased lightly, pocketing the bar again. "I expect you to stay focused on the job at hand." More teasing, faux-sternness, he wasn't really ordering her about. But he was content to link arms with her for now and keep her at his side. It was cover enough. It was unfortunate that they couldn't completely mingle, but then they were working. If Evie wanted to for a little though... he did notice her greetings from afar towards Benzi and Alexa. "If you want to say hi, I'll do a circuit. We can trade off." He suggested quietly. Then when he needed to make small talk, she could do the same. That way they always had each other's backs, and always had an eye on things. |
Half an hour of licking. Now there was some information and accompanying visual he did NOT need. Eyes narrowing slightly, he was rather tempted to invite Maddox to bugger off before he received even more unnecessary visuals when his COLLEAGUE drew his attention to whatever in Orion's belt he had managed to get on his suit. "Oh...for Merlin's s----" he grumbled as he tugged on his sleeve a bit to get a better look, retrieving his wand in the next moment to administer several - read about ten more than necessary - cleaning charms to his suit to remove the evidence. "A leak...not exactly," he grunted once the cleaning was to his satisfaction. "Mostly some restless encephalons over potion continuously seeping out from inside container." So yes, a leak. "We need a modified solution anyway. Nousists reported the appearance of abnormalities in the Hypothalamus region specifically. I'll be having my potioneers taking a look into matters as well." Though with Maddox's suggestion of Megan - who had just announced herself a PART Officer - this seemed like two fwoopers with one stone. "Stellar. I'll send an official summons to you in the coming days," he beamed at the woman, not waiting for her confirmation to Maddox's praise and suggestion. He was beginning to understand why the suggestion that he hire a personal assistant had been offered to him. Or perhaps he needed to stop offering lunch outings to every other person he spoke to. No no, personal assistant it was and hopefully he would remember that he had added that to his to-do list come tomorrow. Hopefully. Parting ways with Simon, Charles was delighted that the industrious Victoria was seeming to enjoy herself. He was quite QUITE keen on the developments and work to come out of Games and Sports. And speaking of Games and Sports, this little darling was certainly the eager beaver! What a delight. "May you maintain such spirit, Laila," he beamed at her before his eyes glanced back towards the front of the room once again. "A rain check on our conversation, my dear. I have a toast I need to give." Oh now THAT had been a cute little party trick from that young woman. The disillusioned wand holster. Smashing. He offered her a bit of a mischievous twinkle of a smile as he moved past her. Though his attention soon was drawn to a young woman working in Accidents and Catastophes. "Ah lovely to meet you, Megan," he chuckled with a wide grin. "Part officer part what else?" Ho Ho Hoooooooooooooo just a bit of Grinning at January, he offered the young woman a quick wink before slinking off to grab bubbly number three - which was mostly just for show due to his need to provide a toast. Clicking against his glass with a spoon, he waited until the crowd, mostly, settled down before speaking. "GOOD evening, good evening INDEED," his voice boomed as he commanded the attention of the room. He had no real intention of making this particularly long and it would even but cut unceremoniously short in that he would not go into a retelling, complete with pictures, of the escapades of his grandchildren the other day in which the triplets had covered themselves in paint and rolled all around the living room to create their own living artwork on the carpet - which he by no means encouraged nor enabled. Nope. "It is indeed a pleasure for me to welcome you ALL to the first annual Ministry Cocktail Hour and the triumphant reopening of the Ministry of Magic. Upon my appointment as your Minister for Magic, I was pleased to learn of the fruitful discussions held during these turbulent times between administrations and am humbled to be presented the opportunity to continue to actively support and nurture the enrichment of synergies between the department heads of this Ministry. Rest assured, the wizarding world is in good hands and all of you here have the opportunity to work in close collaboration with those who will help shape its future." Meaning each and every one of them, of course. "The work we do here will set the precedent for years to come. It is my fervent belief that increased people-to-people contacts have a crucial role to play in consolidating stability, and is why these humble beginnings were selected as a means of kicking off our Ministry year. May tonight serve as a reminder that, despite their differences, we much still communicate on a human level. That it is our responsibility to develop and deliver a powerful message in favor of enhanced dialogue. As a Ministry, we can build bridges, but we also need to spur and convince people on both sides to cross these bridges," he continued, raising his glass in the air to signal the climax, of sorts, to his toast. "The time has NOW come for US to walk across one of these bridges TOGETHER! TO A UNIFIED MINISTRY!" And with that, he took a sip and fully expected the audience to echo his proclamation and take sips themselves. If not, well, that would be only moderately embarrassing. "It is not my intention to bog down our evening with too many announcements, but I do bring one from the Minister's Office. Your Senior Undersecretary, January Bones, and myself are seeking an emerging inspiration voice among all of you to step up and join the administration as our new Junior Undersecretary. Interested parties should send your resume and cover letter directly January for consideration. Those who pass our initial screening will receive an official summons for an interview in the coming months. Now, everyone back to their conversations and enjoy the rest of your evening!" And yes, he may have already forgotten that he had given January a bit of a nudge earlier to prepare a speech of her own or else he would have asked the crowed to retain their attention for just a bit longer. |
SPOILER!!: Olly Laila smiled.'Nice. I was a 'claw,' she said. 'He worked in the Centaur Liasion office,' she added. 'He retired about 10 years back' SPOILER!!: Lucas Laila smiled at Lucas and said 'Oh hi..so good to meet you too..I'm really excited,' she said, sincerely. SPOILER!!: Minister Laila beamed at the Minister. 'Thank you, sir,' she said. As she gave his speech, she keenly listened. Wow, first job. She hoped for the best. |
SPOILER!!: Olly and Alexa "Oh, and Emm is your daughter, right? I heard." She might have also heard from the post-Hogwarts grapevine that they were in the same single motherhood boat. To Olly, she smiled. Did she know the new Minister? Yes and no. Taking a sip of the wine, Beatrice shifted on her feet. Thirty-two years old and she was still not a fan of heels. "Not, personally, no. Although I went to Hogwarts with his daughter -" She was cut off with the sound of clinking. The Minister has begun his speech. SPOILER!!: Ursula and Cassie He then turned to Cassie. "You were a Hogwarts champion for the IMPS." It wasn't a question anymore. He could remember rooting for her on some of the tasks. The girl was pretty tenacious. "But I don't think we interacted so much back at school." Maybe they could change that now that they were colleagues at work? It would be awesome to have her as a friend. .... And then the Minister was talking. Owen listened intently, grinning. The man went about his speech with a unique energy. The former Hufflepuff liked that. His first job was looking promising despite the recent mishaps the ministry underwent. He was looking forward to working under this administration. Also, the position for Junior Undersecretary was open? Hmm. |
totally been here all along Zander watched quietly from the corner, taking a sip of his drink. He wasn't one for huge social events, that was more Sophie's thing. He much preferred smaller groups. This, for example, was overwhelming. He'd only come around because it wasn't exactly just another "social hour". There'd be announcements. His new boss would give a speech. All things which could've been sent with an email, though wizards didn't believe in those. He had sent smiles at former classmates of his, and did his very best to maneuver the room without bumping into any former Professors. Which, by the way, was a lot harder than it sounded. Hogwarts was a breeding ground for ministry employees, it seemed. The blonde looked completely out-of-place and boy, did he sure wish he could've brought Sophie Brown along. This was torture. The new ministry seemed pretty chill though. At least that was a plus? |
Minister toast and HI ZANDER Text Cut: ministerrrr The Senior Undersecretary's attention turned back to the Minister when he grabbed another drink and called the attention of the room for his speech. She had been looking forward to what he would say and how he would say it and she hoped that everyone in the room felt as hopeful about the future as they did. With a smile, January nodded at the toast, but awkwardly did not raise her glass because - well, she didn't have one. She wasn't drinking or eating anything tonight. So, hopefully everyone was just paying attention to him and not her. Yes, the speech was good. January stood off to the side of him, waiting until he was finished to -- Well. Well, no, that was it. She really only had one thing to say and he had said it and really tied up the end of that speech and finished with telling everyone to enjoy their evening. Hadn't he just told her to prepare a few words for after his speech? Oh well. Truthfully, she was mildly relieved. "Well said, Mr. Hollingberry," she said with an amused smile once he finished. Quote:
Hoping to catch his attention, January sent him a little wave from across the room, since she too wasn't really socializing much. Unless you counted a few words with the Minister, but he was quite the popular man and this was HIS night, so she didn't really intend on stealing his attention the whole evening. |
Ursula and Owen SPOILER!!: Charles Simon had been flitting and about the various people in the room, acknowledging those he knew and perhaps the ones that simply noticed and acknowledged him first. But no longstanding conversations given it would take forever. And then Charles was gathering the attention of the room, giving a speech to all those gathered before him. Even if he hadn’t known the man and he hadn’t been the father of a good friend and little sister, the new minister would have gotten his vote. As if he needed it. A toast was given and the security man followed suit, taking a sip from the drink that still lingered in his hand. A unified Ministry. He’d have to wait though to see just what exciting changes and developments were to come though Simon did hope that he got the heads up before anything that affected his security work went into play. Quote:
Oh…so that was how he knew her. “Not my finest moments…” she mused, having been one of the earlier champions to leave the challenge. Very much the reason memory charms were still not her favorite form of magic, even in her chosen field of charms. She was pretty glad not to have the job the other woman with Owen had which sounded much like one of her dad’s former professions before taking on professor. “My dad was a reminscator,” she absently commented to that conversation. As for Owen’s other comment, she had to agree. “Yeah, I don’t think we did.” Which made her feel a little better about not knowing him. “But then I tended to live up to the typical Ravenclaw life of living out of books.” And then the minister was talking, drawing all of their attentions to the man speaking. At least it seemed like a might different and surely better than the last man that had made her first year at the ministry chaotic. |
Quote:
A reminscator? "Is that different from an obliviator?" He asked, cocking his head to the side. If she was the typical Ravenclaw, then he was also the typical Hufflepuff; one who practically lived in the Kitchens. It was no wonder they hadn't interacted much before. The Ravenclaw common room was all the way up at the seventh floor of the castle and Owen had probably only been there a handful of times, save for Astronomy and Divination classes. So being the Hufflepuff that he was, he was going to change that. "What do you say to lunch tomorrow then? You know, a catch up of some sort?" Grin. |
Quote:
Lunch? Now that was an unexpected turn of the conversation. “Um…sure,” Cassie answered with a polite nod when she had decided to after a moment's pause. No harm in a simple lunch…right? Besides it wasn’t like they couldn’t randomly run into each other at the ministry food court anyway. This was just a planned get together to remember school pleasantries. |
Quote:
"That's cool. Your Dad's job was cool." Owen punctuated with a fervent nod. He had a particular admiration for people who worked with memory restoration and such. It was a very delicate task. As for lunch, "Do you, er, have a certain favorite dish? I can cook some of it for you." This. This was the Hufflepuff way of extending friendly relationships, and Owen was a pro at it. "I'm a pretty fine cook, if you didn't know." Cue more grinning. Just so she wouldn't think he had any other ulterior motive. He had none...yet. But if she wanted to stick with foodcourt food for then he wouldn't get hurt. Okay, maybe slightly. |
Minister speech reaction! Humanized treacle. That was the vibe that Ronan was getting off the new minister and his speech. And much like the aforementioned sweet, it was giving him a metaphorical toothache. Look, it wasn't like he was against unity and all that, but this was giving him the feeling that the minister expected them to be all buddy-buddy with everyone else. That was something that Ronan, nay, all Carters didn't go for. Politeness and cordialness, he could do, but pretending to be friends with people he couldn't stand? That brand of fakeness just wasn't in his DNA. Or, what if it was something worse? What he had some kind of forced teamwork planned? The kind that would definitely pull them all away from the work that they were actually there to do? It was a good thing he was of age now, because it sounded like he would drinks to get him through the rest of this year. The young Auror-in-training pinched the bridge of his nose. What had he walked into? |
