| | Hippocampus Stables
Located about 100 meters or so from the coral gardens lay the hippocampus stables and houses hundreds of magnificent hippocampi. The chieftainess has granted you permission to visit, interact, ride and care for the hippocampi as much or as little as you feel like during your capture in the underwater kingdom. The breed of blue roan hippocampus that lives on Atlantis originate from Greece, and have been domesticated over hundreds of years into very cherished pets of the merpeople. For those who have never seen one before, a hippocampus has the head and forequarters of a horse and a tail, and hind quarters of a giant fish.
Within the stables there is a large supply cupboard where you can find all the equipment you need should you wish to give any of the hippocampi some food and care. While the hippocampi are tame, they should still be approached with caution. Any mistreatment of the merpeoples beloved pets will not be taken in kind, and remember to not attempt to ride an hippocampus that doesn’t wish to be ridden. At the back of every hippocampus stall you can follow a small canal out into a wider water cavern, where you can ride and play with the hippocampus of your choice. A magical barrier surrounds the cavern that won’t let you or the creatures go beyond. If you are in luck you might even get to see a tadfoal be born in the stables during your capture.

They didn't appear to be in any imminent danger and he honestly couldn't think of a better place to be if he had to be mernapped. He just hoped whatever negotiations that had to take place would be worked out soon so they could all resume their normal lives. But for now he was just trying to make the best of it. Because Atlantis was actually pretty cool when all was said and done, and it was a place he had always wanted to visit.
Of course he wanted to explore within their limits. The sea life was nothing short of amazing down here and he would be able to get up close to all of it. So he took some of the potion the merpeople had provided them with and set out towards the hippocampus stables.
Gunnar was trained as a creature nutritionist before taking on the role of beast protection officer at the Ministry and the first thing he wanted to do was to make sure the hippocampi were fed properly. He might consider taking one out for a ride after that.

He was sullen, and he would not cease to be sullen until these land dwellers were out of their waters. He knew why they were here, the thieves that they all were, but that didn't mean he had to bring himself to like their intrusion. No, if anything, this predicament just felt even more reason to dislike their species as a whole.
And yet for some reason they still had open roam to their beautiful Atlantis? He was not one to question the Mercheiftess. But no one said he couldn't still be disgruntled.
With a powerful thwish of his tail, he moved between the stalls of his precious hippocampi, stopping to give a length of seaweed there and a pat along the head there. He was peering at the translucent egg of one when a new movement in the waters surrounding was noticed, and the merman turned his head to glower at the intruder. Hmph.

Gunnar had some experience caring for hippocampi in his capacity as a beast protection officer and even in his training at university. And so he knew to approach them with gentle caution to initiate some basic trust.
As he swam nearer, Gunnar carefully held his hand out towards one to show the hippocampus that he meant no harm and was instead here to care for him. He glanced around the stables to look for some seaweed and anything else the merpeople might have here for their basic needs when he spotted the merperson at the other end of the stables. And although he could see that the merperson was glowering at him, Gunnar gave him a small, but pleasant smile and respectful bow of his head. No, he did not appreciate being held captive, but he also wasn't going to be combative. There was no point to that. "Hello there," he greeted him from afar, then turned his attention back to the hippocampus in front of him.
