The MCU continues to grow rapidly with a series of movies and TV shows. For many years, Marvel Studios has been bringing their beloved comic book characters to life. Naturally, the portrayal of these characters have been met with a huge amount of critique, be it constructive or otherwise.
With this thread, the discussion topics are literally endless! What do you think of the decision Marvel has made to link some of its early 2000s movies to the MCU? Were you pleasantly surprised when Blade made an important appearance in Deadpool and Wolverine? Are you excited about Fantastic Four: The First Steps? Have you seen Thunderbolts* and approve of a particular theme that has been dealt with?
Talk about the evolution of your favourite Superhero/Anti Hero! Are you proud of how far Bucky/The Winter Soldier has come? Do you approve of Daredevil/Matt Murdock's methods to handle inustice?

I'm truly excited about watching all of this, but I haven't caught up on all the previous movies and shows. I want to renew my Disney+ membership so I can watch, but the price is expensive if you add all the other streaming services I subscribe to. Hopefully I can renew my membership soon and get to watching, but who knows.

Who else is THRILLED for the return of Daredevil?! I was pretty devastated when Netflix cancelled the original show in 2018 but I’m so grateful to Marvel for listening to the fans by bringing it back. The first three episodes of Daredevil: Born Again have been released so far and there were some pretty shocking twists, and along with them came a few supporting characters from the Netflix show played by the same actors. I am in awe of this even though Marvel is known for bringing back actors to reprise their roles. See below spoiler tag for my thoughts on the first three episodes:
SPOILER!!: HUGE TWISTS
Episode 1: the most heart wrenching thing is Bullseye killing Foggy I know many DD viewers are fans of our Avocados-at-Law {gosh, I’ll miss hearing that term}: Matt & Foggy and so we were looking forward to content featuring them. What we didn’t expect is Bullseye making that move on Foggy within five minutes of the episode. The way Matt screamed and cried for his friend broke my heart; I’m still recovering from it and from the loss of a favourite character. I’m also still also in pain over the way in which Karen and Matt parted ways. It broke my heart that she needed her other best friend after Foggy’s death but I also understand that Matt was also grieving and had no mental capacity to be there for her
Wilson Fisk becoming Mayor of NY wasn’t shocking. But I am still rather mad he won The only aspect that makes me sad is that Vanessa seemingly cheated on him. Fisk may have his evil ways but I’ve always admired the love he carried for Vanessa.
Episode 2: Ben Ulrich’s {Sleep in peace, Ben} niece is a journalist just like him! I can only hope she’s as brave and chooses the right path like Ben did when he helped Daredevil/Matt.
Episode 3: I wasn’t sure Hector Ayala/White Tiger would have been found not guilty of the crime he was accused of {Matt’s a really good lawyer :3 }but really… I didn’t expect him to survive the episode. Sadly, I was right about the latter but the twist??? The killer was wearing a shirt with The Punisher’s logo on it!!! Like… what??? Those of us who’ve read the comics/watched the Netflix show know that The Punisher/Frank would not do something as evil as that, not within reason, that is. So, I have my doubts as to whether that really was Frank Castle under that hood.
Note: White Tiger/Hector’s actor Kamar de los Reyes died in December 2023 from cancer; the second episode was dedicated to him. His appearance in the show has marked the debut of the character in the MCU so he’ll always be remembered <3
I wished Marvel had dropped all the episodes at once but I really can’t complain, not when I’m truly grateful that the show is back. I’m even more grateful the show was renewed for another season, with filming commencing a few weeks ago. S2 is due to premiere in 2026
