Nabiya's Noob Knits, etc. Hey you guys, I debated about posting here but I figure... maybe this will provide incentive to make better crafts? lol Anyway, I'm a complete newbie at knitting, just started doing it a few weeks ago and I'm already collecting bookmarks of all the different Harry Potter themed knitting patterns to do as I learn. I started knitting this scarf while I was stuck in a traffic jam last weekend... it's a Weasley scarf, something I imagine Mrs Weasley would try to make Ron wear at school, lol: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...a/CIMG0593.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...a/CIMG0598.jpg Made using a simple garter stitch, 18 stitches with colour 34 Mohair and geez I can't find the label for the other one... which is the bulky maroon wool. It ended up coming to 8 feet in length before I could stop myself, cos it was so fun. The button is just something I stuck on, lolol cos it seems like something Molly would add just cos she had it lying around. Hope you like it, I'm nearly done with the Slytherin scarf I'm making and I still need to find a nice pattern to make something Hufflepuffy. DevArt |
Aww that's pretty, pretty Nabs! I'd say a REALLY good start! I like the button, too. And the color. And you. And that smilie that I"m prodding Kris to add to SS right now. =) |
I really, really like this! It has a somewhat different look to it than other HP related scarves I've seen, maybe it's your choice of yarns or colors, but it looks really good! Excellent work, and I think you show much promise as a knitter. Keep with it, and enjoy! |
That's awesome, LarryNabs!!! I can't wait to see the Slytherin and Hufflepuff scarves! I really like the button and just how looooong it is. That's so cool! |
Touz: I like you, too, enough to want to make a Ravenclaw something! Linda: Thank you, you're such a sweetheart *squeezes* I would have made the simple 2 colour stripe thing but these wools just looked so right together that I wanted to try that. I'm glad you like how it turned out. LarryJan: I love loooooooong scarves, lol <3 Thanks Lair. Anyway, I just popped the chicken in the oven and had some free time to take pictures of the Slytherin scarf I just completed! Woot! Finished it this afternoon, took me 2 weeks to make cos of the whole changing colours thing. I got so lazy halfway through and left it for a few days: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...CIMG0598-1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...CIMG0600-1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...a/CIMG0603.jpg (I got my aunt to model the full length one for me) Made with Merino extrafine wool (6 balls of green and 2 of the grey), using the simple 2 knit, 2 purl pattern. Knitting and purling takes so much more time than a simple garter stitch *thuds* I'm really happy with how this turned out, and I would do the same for Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff... but I don't want to... not yet. lol |
Ooooooooh, I am luffin the scarfs. You did a fantastic job! I have to see the Ravenclaw one if you ever make it. Nabs got mad knitting skillls. ^_^. Awesome! |
There awesome Nabyia! I really like them... :D They must take alot of time doing...? Nice... :D Tash xxx |
Oh my gosh! That is GORGEOUS! It looks soooo thick and warm! Well done, Nabs! I can't wait to see what you make next. :D |
You're doing a beautiful job considering you're a "n00b"... lovely! |
Nabs - Oooh, me likey even more! This scarf looks super great, makes me want one bad. You've got real talent! |
Tailz: Thanks, sweetums, I'm still thinking of what to make for my Ravenclaw piece... Hat or jumper or mittens? lol Tash: It depends, really, the Weasley scarf took 2 days, but the Slytherin one took 2 WEEKS! I get lazy, and guilty for spending too much time on knitting, so I put it aside for a while... I'd say average time would be a week or so. LarryJan: LOL I find it so silly that I'm making these thick, warm wool scarves when I live on the Equator. But I'm basically making tons of stuff for when I move to England in the fall ^_^ Ern: I like being a n00b, lol, it's sort of my disclaimer... so if something turns out ugly, I'll be all "Oh, but I'm a noob!!!" hehe, but thanks, it really makes me want to make more stuff *loves* Linda: I actually made it with the intention to post it off to Sierra (dracocutie89) but I don't think I can part with it now. Maybe I'll make another one xD Thanks so much for all the kind words, you guys, I love you *sniffwipestear* I'm knitting something non-HP now, but the wool is so pretty I wanted to share this one shot: |
-Squeee- a Slytherin scarf ^_^ Lovely knitting, Nabzy :D Keep it up, Amy. |

But I love it. It looks really awesome :D |
Amy: lol thanks, Slytherin colours are so pretty, so... I feel a bit like I'm cheating on Hufflepuff cos I want to make another Slytherin something! :O Jen: NOT COLD?! It's not cold for you, just like 42 degrees celcius isn't hot for me <3 |
Nabs, Hahaha, come to Canada. That scarf will definetly get a good workout. OOH. Mittens. If you make mittens, I may come over and take them. Hehehe, no... That wool is so colourful! It's like a mini rainboww. ^_^ Nice! |
Heh heh heh Jen is speaking the truth :D The sun is actually out today  |
You're a 'n00b'? Ahem... Erm, alright. -faint- XD LOVELY work, NibLove. <33 Adorable, really. I enjoy the colour combinations, and everything looks so . . . pwetty. =) Keep up the great work. ^^ |
Nabs - I agree, that yarn is gorgeous! I love all the scarves and I certainly agree with you about the Slytherin colors being nice (heehee!) It won't be long until you are progressing on to more complicated projects, I think you are going to have no problems at all! |
That yarn looks like fruity pebbles. Mmm. |
Aww i love it I want learn how to knit:( someone teach me |
Love the Slytherin scarf Nabz! You're so creative it's unreal *steals your brain* |
Wow I love them! Great job :) I like the wool in the last picture. |
