Lux had no idea what was with her sister. As much as she loved Willa, they were very different people. For one thing there was a vast difference in temper; while Lux wasn't quick to anger, it seemed that her older sister could fly off the handle for no real reason. Maybe not for NO reason, but for one that was completely lost on Lux.

"I don't understand what I did to annoy you, Willa. Why are you being so snappish with me?" WHAT HAD SHE EVEN DONE???

Willa didn't even bother to answer, instead storming off in a huff.

Seeing the heading of the Daily Prophet article caused Lux to almost spit out her orange juice. It was a very good thing that she had managed to keep a hold on herself, because the last thing that she wanted to do right now was make her mother mad.

Kind, sweet, grandfatherly Professor Botros had passed away yesterday.

It made her sad to think about his family who had to be feeling the loss hard; a lot of people were feeling it since he had been a great man. A great Professor. A great Headmaster.

He would be sorely missed.

This was it.

Lux was officially graduated from University and there was a whole wide world ahead of her. Instead of being nervous at the prospect, she was excited; this was the time for her to set roots down in the potioneering community, and one of the ways that she was going to go about doing that was working with Zhenya. Their healing potions were going to take the wizarding community by storm.

Already they had set up a laboratory and came up with a brand name for their products. Now they just needed the recipes and they could start!

One of Lux's favourite stores to visit in Diagon Alley was Madame Malkins. Even if she didn't end up purchasing anything, the trip was always more than worth it. Besides there was no better shopping buddy than Cinna. Well, Cinna AND Hady.

Beaming, she made a beeline towards one of the display racks, her eyes glued to a couple of dress robes in the most amazing shades of blue. Of course it was the blue ones that always got Lux's attention first. "Aren't they wonderful, Cinna? Of course you could do better." Always supporting the bestie.

Plus it was true.

There were times when Lux felt that she was going to cry from not having her family with her. Even though Hogwarts was new and exciting, a place where she had made new friends, it wasn't HOME. Well, it WAS home, but not the home where she had grown up in. Where her parents were and her siblings came to visit.

Her heart ached.

After dwelling on it for a little while, she grabbed a quill and some paper. Maybe if she wrote to them she wouldn't miss them as much. And besides, soon enough she'd be home for Christmas.

Beyond tired, she was yearning for her bed but knew that she wouldn't be able to sleep. Not yet when this assignment was half finished. Even though she was back to being home schooled, it wasn't as if this was a vacation; mom was as strict as ever when it came to assignments. As she should be seeing as this was NEWT year.

So the question was: What did she know about the history of pureblood supremacy?

Maybe it would be a good idea to write to Teddy. He probably had a book dealing with that.

So this was it.

Her best friend's wedding.

Usually Lux couldn't go for more than a minute without giving Adi a hard time, but this was different. Well, not COMPLETELY different, but different enough that she was finding herself being nice to him. And he had better not get used to it either, because it would be back to sass talk once he got back from his honeymoon.

"Are you ready?" she asked Adi. He sure looked it, and was very handsome though she wouldn't tell him that. "I warn you I might cry during my speech." Okay, she WOULD.

Her best friend had FINALLY realised her dream. "I knew that you were made for this career path," Lux gushed to Zhenya. "Ever since I saw how you were helping look after everyone when the Acromantula attack was over." And of course they were going to continue their potions line for as long as they could; that was their thing.

Beaming, Lux picked up a book from the table and flipped through it. "We certainly didn't learn these spells in Charms class." Fascinating stuff! "Zhenya, I want you to be my Healer." For if she was ever sick or anything.

Currently Lux was fighting the urge to fall asleep, and it was a battle that she felt she wouldn’t be able to win. As much as she was happy to be pursuing her dream of becoming a potioneer, the required reading material could be such a bore.

She wanted to be brewing things, not reading textbooks. But she knew that this was an important part of her education, and she would manage to power through it. Somehow.

Though at the moment she was more interested in watching her lit candle lambent.

Maybe she should sleep and try again tomorrow morning.

Sometimes it felt like all Willa wanted to do was vex her.

As much as she loved her older sister, and knew that her older sister loved her… it could be really HARD sometimes. Once again Willa had started something because she was in a bad mood, and once again it had soured Lux’s mood as well.

Currently she was moving around her room, unable to sit still. She was so worked up.

Siiiiigh.

Looking out her window and saw how gloomy it looked. The hyetal was really reflecting her current mood. Lux gave another sigh and looked away sadly.

For years Lux had wanted to try and become an animagus. The idea of transforming into an animal and escaping from the realities of human life for a little while was very appealing. She knew that it was a very complicated process and took a long time, but that had never seemed to be particularly daunting to her.

She was definitely sure that she could manage the potion. Though maybe she was overestimating her potion brewing abilities.

When she was younger, she had seen it as more of a type of metamorphosis. But really it was a more complex process.

It was soooooo hot outside.

As much as Lux enjoyed the summer, sometimes it felt absolutely unbearable. And as much as she wanted to stay inside where it was a lot cooler, she had chores to do and she knew that her mom wouldn’t be happy if she didn’t manage to complete them all.

They were her responsibility, as she was reminded often.

Sighing, she continued the incredibly boring job of weeding the garden. At present she wished that she could use a palm leaf to fan herself off with. Unfortunately, all the plants in the garden had ovate leaves.

With Aurora at Hogwarts, Lux had been taking care of her daughter’s garden and greenhouse in her absence. She had promised to stay on top of things. While she was far from an expert, she did grow her own plants for potion making. So she did have some idea of what she was doing.

Aurora had also made sure to give her thorough instructions.

It was now spring, and Lux was looking forward to her daughter coming home. Her thoughts turned to Aurora as she worked in the garden.

She spotted a chrysalis on one of the plants, and smiled.

Shivering from the cold, Lux wished that she had worn a warmer jacket. But she knew that there was nothing to be done for it now. She had no idea how she had ended up staying out so late, but she knew that she would be in big trouble if her parents were awake.

Lux would just have to hope.

In the distance she heard the hooting of an owl. She looked at her watch and saw that it was midnight.

“That’s just great.” Sigh.

As she continued to walk, a zephyr blew her hair into her face. Another sigh.

Today had certainly been a lot of fun, but Lux was more than happy to be inside and away from the snow. She and her daughters had spent hours playing in the snow, building snowmen, and going sledding.

Of course her daughters hadn’t wanted to stop playing.

Now that they had all taken their coats off, and she had helped untie the laces of Aurora’s boots, it was time for them to all warm up. She picked up the two year old and brought her over to the incalescent fireplace where Felicity and Nova were already seated, sipping hot chocolate.

Using a portkey definitely wasn’t Lux’s favourite way to travel. Yet here she was. She knew that she would have to get it over with because the time that they needed to leave was drawing near. Her mom was right there with her, which did comfort her. It just was the dizziness; she hated that feeling.

“Come on, Lux,” her mother urged gently, taking her hand. She led her daughter over to the old boot that they would be using. “Just one more minute now.”

As Lux braced herself, she heard the warble of a bird in the tree overhead.

Sipping her morning coffee, Lux listened attentively as her youngest daughter talked all about erumpent fungi. Aurora was getting quite animated, the way that she always did when talking about nature. She loved seeing that passion in all of her kids, and always did her best to encourage their interests.

It made her really happy to see how her daughters had all developed in their own way, wanting to take different paths. She knew the future was bright for all three of them.

Does this mean that you want to start a mushroom colony?” she asked.

“That’s a great idea!”

Squealing in delight, Lux ran from her older siblings.

They could chase her all they wanted, her juvenescence ensured that they wouldn’t be able to catch her no matter how hard they tried. There was a benefit to being a lot younger than Lennon and Willa.

Lux dashed outside to the backyard. Hopefully she had enough of a head start that she could hide from her brother and sister.

She made her way to some bushes and hid behind them. It was hard to hold in her giggles as they began to look for her. She couldn’t blow her cover.
