Nicoli grinned, a hearty laugh was needed now and again. He sipped his lemonade and very nearly choked when he remember where he was going. Nicoli quickly downed the rest of the delicious drink and smiled to the lot of them. "I've got to go," he said smiling, "Nice to meet you Lola!" with that he turned on his heel and left the room, his midnight blue robes glimmering.

Zoe 03-18-2008 08:59 PM

Shane looked up and saw that Nicoli was leaving the breakroom. From the looks of it, he had something on his mind. Something he wasn't exactly looking forward to. Well, at leave from what Shane could tell when she noticed that Nicoli had nearly choked oin the lemonade earlier.

"See you later, Vanhatck," Shane said right before he had completely left the room. She smiled and gave a good-bye wave. She walked over to a couch and sat down next to Lola. Her feet were killing her!

LeapFrog 03-27-2008 11:31 PM

Lola subtly shook her hair into place. She definately needed it cut, it was getting too long for her liking. She smiled as Ms. Dalton sat down by her. She was hoping to learn more about the Wizengamot. You know, my father had a friend on the Wizengamot, a long time ago, of course. Lola adjusted her glasses, they seemed to be sliding down her nose more often. Probably need to tighten them, she thought to herself. Anyway, this man was always telling such funny stories about cases brought in front of him. The things that go on in this world! she laughed.

Zoe 03-29-2008 02:24 AM

Shane smiled. She hadn't been a member of the Wizengamont very long, but she had some ... funny experiences. Some cases were just weird and ... pointless. But she had to do them anyway.

"Yeah," she said sighing quietly. "Some of the cases that do manage to get in the courtrooms can be quite different and totally unexpected. But no matter how different they may be, you still have to go out there and do your thing."

LeapFrog 03-29-2008 07:55 PM

Lola looked down at her watch. It was her 17th birthday gift, and she always loved to look at it every now and then. On this occassion, she happened to notice the time. "Oh!" she said, surprised. "I've been here a little longer than I was supposed to be," she chuckled. "Not that my superior would mind or anything, but it's best I head back." She stood up and walked over and poured a glass of lemonade. "Might as well take some for the road. It was lovely meeting you, I hope we'll see each other again!" With that, Lola strode out of the breakroom.

Zoe 04-06-2008 01:53 AM

Shane smiled at Lola as she walked out of the breakroom. "See you around," Shane said quickly, taking a sip of lemonade. She stood up from the couch and walked back over to Syd.

She poured some more lemonade into her cup and looked at Syd. "Well, I guess I better get back to work," she said, with a quick nod of her head. "I'm sure that someone's looking for you too. Nice talking with you ... again." She smiled at him and waved at him. She turned on her purple heels and walked out of the breakroom, hoping that a case would be coming up very soon.

She was disappointed by that, but she still loved that word coming from his mouth nonetheless. She smiled at him again, willing him to understand how much she liked him.

"Thank you Nathan, I am impressed myself." She told him, she reached over for her change purse that was sitting behind her desk on the shelf, as she extended her leg the back of her skirt hiked up to reveal a scorpion tattoo blazoned up her thigh. "Oh, its going great. We are getting ready for a case in a couple of days."

She stood up straight and turned and walked over to the door with Nathan.

She seemed flustered. It was all his fault for coming here. How could he be so stupid? Egypt, who was now a judge, was probably embarrassed by this scruffy looking man coming to see her here of all places. But he was pleased when she returned his sheepish smile. He gazed at her for a moment, even when flustered, she was captivating. He could have stood there and looked at her for hours, into those beautiful soulful eyes.

As she turned around to get her bag, Nathan couldn’t help but look. His eyes were drawn to her thigh and then to the tattoo. He now found himself getting a little hot under the collar. Coughing slightly, he turned away so he wouldn’t (or couldn’t) look. “Oh that’s great.” he replied, keeping his usual calm tone, but feeling quite the reverse - this was terrible – he had to get a grip. “Dark wizard?” he asked, wondering whether it was the fella they’d brought in from the warehouse.

When they arrived in the break room, he nodded politely at his co-workers, not knowing many of them by name. He grabbed a gilly water for Egypt and got himself a strong coffee. He didn’t care how foul tasting it was, he needed the caffeine. “So...” he said, sitting on one of the comfortable sofas and gesturing for her to join him. He took a sip of his hot coffee before he continued --it was even more foul than he remembered. They should have gone to the cafeteria, at least you got a half decent cup there –“You didn’t have too much trouble finding your way out of the ministry the other day?” he smirked, “Did you chance the telephone box on your own?”

"Oh I'm not sure what the case involves, we only got the notice a few days ago." She confessed, walking into the breakroom behind him. A few of the other level two Ministry members were there, but Nathan was the only one she knew.

She noticed that Nathan's face was flushed, she gave him a raised eyebrow, she only wished that had caused it.

When he sat down on the couch he didn't pick one of the ends, instead he sat in the middle, so she would have to sit right next to him, he didn't seem to notice that he did that.

She looked at him and sat down and as she did, her behind grazed his thigh. She coughed to cover up her embarrassment and accepted the gilly water he had gotten for her. She giggled at the face he made when he took a sip of his coffee. "Here, let me." she pulled her wand from her robe and touched it to the rim of his cup. A sweet smelling, light brown powder flowed from her wand. It dissolved into the coffee. "Try it now." she told him.

"Oh no, I stayed clear of that thing. I look a fireplace." She said laughing at the fact that she almost thought about using that red box.

As Egypt sat down, and brushed his thigh, he coughed a little feeling embarrassed about what he had done, “I..er ..I’m sorry, love.” He stuttered and scooted along a bit to give her more room. His spatial awareness was getting worse… probably due to his love of firewhiskey – it was killing off his brain cells.

He chuckled as she giggled at the face he pulled, and watched as the powder flowed into his cup. “Smells nice.” He said taking a sniff. “What is it?” He took a small sip of the drink. It was certainly a vast improvement to the disgusting ministry coffee. “Hmm.. that’s much better. Thanks, love.” he said with a wink.

“I thought you might have done.” He smirked. “Can be a little scary if you’re not used to such things.” He took another sip of his now, sweet coffee, “I take you and your sisters are living in the wizarding world?” One would hope so anyway. If Egypt hadn’t even know what a telephone was, she would struggle no end. And her sisters were most probably in the same situation.

She made a face when he moved to the end of the couch, she wanted to snuggle up to him, she wanted to... but that would not have been appropriate for the workplace. So she stayed put. "Its a ground hazelnut and hornbeam mixture." She told him, she blushed when he winked at her. "It's my dad's recipe, good for getting 12 little girls into bed." She giggled.

Did he have any idea what he was doing to her, she wondered. She coughed and straightened up, she was losing her head.

"My younger sister is at Hogwarts, and my sister India is trying to live with muggles all though she got lost on a tube thingy yesterday. I'm not sure what that is." She admitted, hating that she was showing him her ignorance.

"I live a couple of streets over. I..uh.. feel a little out of place around here." She said getting somber. She looked away from him and looked at a picture on the wall, she never would have told anyone else that, not in a million years. Her mother said never show weakness, but Nathan already had her heart why not open up to him.

Nathan saw the face she made as he moved away. He’d obviously upset her by sitting too close - it hadn't been deliberate. He took his leather jacket off, feeling a bit hot, and wincing slightly as it grazed over the deep wound on his arm. He quickly put his and over it, before she could see it, not wanting to draw attention to his injury. He smiled at her comments about her father, “I hope that’s not what you’re planning for me.” He said with a smirk, before realising what he’d actually said. Nathan's gob was acting on it's own again - his eyes widened a bit. “I mean… er…” he looked away from her and distracted himself by sipping at his coffee. He was beginning to wish he had got a cold drink instead.

“Hogwarts eh?”
he said looking back at Egypt and thankful for the change in conversation. His complexion back to it's usual pasty self. “My kid sister goes there. Is she settling in ok?” He chuckled as she said her other sister had got lost on the tube. “Took me ages to get used to the things.” He chuckled at the thought. The station staff all were well used to Nathan – he was convinced they all thought he was just a bit mental. That poor insane lad's lost again. He was fine nowadays. “She’ll love it when she gets used to it… living with muggles, I mean.” Nathan could talk about muggles for hours. “If she ever needs anything, I’d be more than happy to help.” He offered. “That goes for you too.” He added as an afterthought.

He nodded in understanding. “I understand that. It was hard enough moving from a wizarding family into the muggle world. I can’t imagine how hard it is, moving to a completely different country as well. As I said before…. If you need anything, let me know.” He looked at her intently before she looked away - she seemed upset that she was struggling to fit in. He wanted to put his arm around her, to comfort her - to make her feel better. He couldn't bear to see her hurting - but it would be inapropriate. He looked away in much the same fashion and studied a discoloured spot on the carpet.

Tommehbell 04-06-2008 10:49 PM

"Oh no, thats not what I meant," She said blushing at the very thought of trying to get him into bed. Thinking about getting him in the bed made her flustered. She let out a nervous giggle.

"Oh well Tomasina, is having a tough time only because we are not used to such..hmm.. diversity would be the best way to put it." She said utterly thankful for the shift in the conversation. "She is making friends, though.

"Oh I would love to have your helping hand," she said winking at him trying to be playful but when she thought about what she said she was embarrassed. This was becoming akward and she didn't know if it was because of her or if they were both feeling the same way.

Egypt decided to take a chance, she turned around and found him looking at the ground. "Nathan," she said trying to get him to look up at her.

"I have to be really honest with you." She took a deep breath and prepared to lay her heart on the line. "I am really attracted to you, and I have been acting like such a prat around you because you make me nervous." She spilled hoping she was not setting herself up for the royal brush off.

noodles 04-07-2008 01:07 AM

Nathan looked back at her. Trust him to open his mouth without thinking about what he was saying. He hadn’t meant it the way it sounded. Or maybe subconsciously he had. This was bad. She was getting to him. He had to remain cool, calm and collected.

“Tomasina?” he asked. “As in Tomasina Riddle?” Nate should really just close his mouth and not speak again… ever. The name Riddle hadn’t even occurred to him as being strange before. “No relation… right?” he asked sheepishly, looking at her. No way. He was jumping to conclusions here. And in any case, Egypt was her own person, she could not help who her family were. Oh merlin! “That’s good. It’s always hard at a new school.” Or foreign school as Nate knew well having been packed off to Durmstrang when he was 11.

He gave her a boyish smirk as she winked at him. Now she was flirting – he hadn’t had it all wrong the other day… or had he? He was starting to get paranoid. But then she spoke again and her words confirmed that he had, indeed, been correct. He looked at her, not taking his eyes away from her as she spoke. He didn’t know what to say. Yes, he was attracted to her - of all the women in the Ministry (and there were a hell of a lot) none of them had captivated his attention quite like Miss Riddle had. “You haven’t been acting like a prat.” Was all he could muster at first. He looked away from her and took a deep breath. He hadn’t been with anyone since Claire – not long term anyway. And now Claire was in his head – his hand went to the engagement band which he fiddled with briefly, before removing it and putting it in his pocket. “I’m attracted to you too, Egypt.” He started. He took her hand into his. Her skin so soft and warm. “But I don’t want to hurt you - it’s just…complicated.” He let go of her hand, feeling awkward even talking about this is here.

Tommehbell 04-07-2008 04:37 AM

"Yeah Tomasina Riddle is my sister." She saw the flicker of recognition in his face about her last name, she had wondered how long it would have taken for someone to realize that, but it would get ugly if she went into that at the Ministry. "Well I am just glad that we learned English, so the language wouldn't be a problem." She said trying to steer him away from the subject of her last name.

He had never touched her before, and she held her breathe as he cupped her hand like it was the most precious thing in the world. She could have stayed like that for the rest of her life and been happy and content. It made her heart flutter. She felt the heat and the magic of their touch. She could feel the passion between them.

Egypt wasn't strong like her sisters, they could have sat through him letting go of their hands and not skipped a beat, but this hurt. He had looked at him with such..compassion that she thought...well that was trivial now.

She willed herself not to cry, but she could feel her eyes watering. "I understand. I..uh." She stood up trying to find somewhere to escape to. She felt to exposed and stupid.

She would not let him see her cry. She turned around, she couldn't look at him, if she did she would lose control.

noodles 04-07-2008 10:24 AM

He felt so bad. He wasn’t rejecting her, not at all - he just needed time to get things straight in his overactive mind. Maybe he should just take a chance… but what of Claire? What of her? - she was going to haunt him for the rest of his life at this rate.

He stood up as Egypt stood up – he didn’t want her to leave. His heart ached as he looked at her, her eyes beginning to water as she turned away, refusing to even look at him. That hurt. But he was the cause of it. All him - he hated himself for it more than anything in the world. He moved towards her, taking her gently by the hand again and turning her around to face him – she was even beautiful when she was crying. He put his thumbs to her cheeks and gently wiped away the tears. Then, taking her by both hands, he pulled her close to his body, feeling her warmth and taking in her delicate scent. He found himself unable to breathe for a second. His eyes flickered to her lips as he tilted her chin up gently with his finger and moved in, closing his eyes and brushing his lips lightly against hers, barely even touching; but the tingle of the kiss made the hair on the back of his neck stand on end. He pulled back and gazed at her, completely at a loss for words. “I…er…” he started hesitantly and scratched his head nervously, hoping he hadn’t overstepped the mark here. For a woman to render Nathaniel Greenwood speechless was quite and achievement on her part. “Would you meet me in the park later?” he asked softly as he brushed some fallen strands of curly hair out of her face. He found himself unable talk in here… too many prying ears and eyes for his liking.

Tommehbell 04-07-2008 01:12 PM

She was looking down at the carpet, there was a small burn hole near the edge, someone had dropped their wand in the middle of a charm, she thought.

She had done it, she put herself out there for the first time, and he was going to tell he that he couldn't be with her. She didn't know what to do, she felt like such an idiot. She felt him standing behind her, she wanted him to say that he would make her world alright, but he wasn't available and he was going to say that she was a nice kid. The tears were trickling down her face, she tried to stop them, but they had a mind of their own. She felt his fingers reaching for her hand, and then his hand clasped hers, and then she was facing him. Those eyes, she couldn't bare to look him in the eye, but then touched her face. She closed her eyes, and pushed her cheek against his thumb.

She didn't want it to end, she felt herself being drawn to him before she realize that he was pulling her close. She stopped breathing, what was he doing? Then he did it. He kissed her, not a nasty snog fest, but the sweetest, lightest brush of his lips against hers. It shocked her, but it felt so good.

His lips were chapped, and he smelled of grass and ale. She inhaled his scent, she wanted to remember that smell if he never touched her again, her toes were tingling as he pulled away from her.

She looked at him, he looked nervous like he had did something wrong. Why on earth would he think that? She wiped the tears out of her eyes

"Yes." She told him, she would meet him at the ends of the earth if he asked her to.

noodles 04-07-2008 03:02 PM

All the demons in Nathan’s world were forgotten in that fleeting moment. As he looked into her eyes and she looked back, he wanted to lean in and kiss her again, more passionately, to taste her sweetness and lose himself in her completely. But he knew he couldn’t – not here in his place of work. He nodded when she agreed to meet him, still unable to string a proper sentence together. “Thanks.” he replied. He didn’t want to leave her, but knew he had to. To know that she would be just a couple of rooms away from him seemed to make it all the worse. “I…I’ll see you later then.” He said quietly and lent forward to kiss her cheek. Her skin still damp from the tears she had shed over him. He closed his eyes for a second and pressed his lips together tasting the salt from her. Oh, what she was doing to him - he was falling and he couldn’t stop himself. He started to make his way to the door, not wanting to look back and let her see the sorrow in his eyes - sorrow that he had to go; but he couldn’t help himself - he took one last glance at her and was gone.

Tommehbell 04-07-2008 03:25 PM

Egypt saw the searching look in his eyes. She wanted him to find what he was looking in her. She held his gaze for as long as she could. They were having their moment and for a second the breakroom fell away and it was just the two of them. His grassy rugged masculinity and her softly beating heart.

She was sharply jarred back to the reality of the breakroom, when he pulled back and mutter a thank you. She didn't want him to go, but they were at work, and they were both professionals that had jobs to do. She cursed herself for allowing herself to fall so hard and so fast. She would have to suffer through an entire day concentrating on work and not Nathan.

She nodded in agreement with their planned meeting in the park after work. That second kiss seemed to natural and so right. As if his lips were formed just for her. He found the right spot to kiss her, that just...She sighed when he broke the connection again.

She watched him walk toward the door. She pulled herself together, and then he looked back. She stood and held his gaze, she felt the sorrow in his eyes, and she only hoped it was because of their departure and not because he would have to let her down easy in a private place.

She gave him a smile and then he was gone.

She walked over to the sink and filled a glass with water. She tapped her wand against she side of the glass and a few cubes of ice clanked in the water, chilling it. She took a large gulp and splashed a few drops on her face. It was burning hot. She searched for a towel to dry her face. Once she checked to make sure she didn't have in tear streaks, she headed back to the office to start work on their latest case.

A cup of strong coffee and a French fashion magazine always helped Vivienne get her mind off of the lack of work. She had already finished her first assignment and began to wonder if her eagerness to get the job done angered her boss. Sure she took the job so that she could improve her English, but at least in Paris they kept her busy. Not here.

Taking a sip of her hot beverage, she turned the page and looked at an advertisement featuring that famous English Quidditch player named Harrison. Pretty thing...doesn't look like she's an athlete...very delicate looking...but there's something intense about her eyes....

harrys_other_broom 04-15-2008 02:12 AM

Zoey stumbled into the break room, tired. She had been working hard the last couple of days trying to make a good impression. She flopped down on the couch with a sigh. She pulled a water bottle out of her bag and took a long sip.

noodles 04-21-2008 09:44 AM

Nathan was desperately in need of coffee. This would be about his thirtieth cup of the day but it was completely necessary to stop him from falling asleep on his feet. Today had been endless. It had even crossed Nathan’s mind that he had died and was in now purgatory – damnation for his years of debauchery and reckless behaviour - forced to work for eternity with a killer hangover, drink foul coffee and never to sleep EVER again. He gulped and shook his head.

He glanced at his watch and pulled a face before heading over to get himself a coffee – albeit the foulest tasting coffee on the face of the earth – but still coffee. He glanced at his watch again – a five minute rest in here wouldn’t hurt… and it meant Apha and Amelia could get to know each other a bit better without him interfering. He took a seat on one of the comfortable sofas and sipped at the foul coffee. He was starting to get used to the taste of it now but wished Egypt was around to add her sweet whatever-the-heck-it-was to it. Where the hell did the ministry buy this stuff from anyway? It’s like they wanted to punish their staff. He rubbed his eyes, sat back and closed them. A couple of minutes couldn’t hurt anyone… Could it?

Tommehbell 04-21-2008 02:00 PM

Egypt had been trapped in the Law Library for like 5 hours. The prisoner they had in custody presented some unique problems and Egypt wanted to see if there was any precedent for the type of defense she thought would be presented. She was covered in dust and really thirsty. She used her wand to suck off the dust as she walked down to the break room. She hoped there was some water some where in that refrigerator.

It seemed like everyone was putting in a lot of hours, the break room was full of snoozing witches and wizards. She eyed the coffee pot, but thought better of it. Nathan was always complaining about it. She went over to the refrigerator and pulled out a bottle of butterbeer.

She spotted Nathan snoozing on the sofa. He looked so serene and peaceful sitting there. She walked over to the sofa and planted a soft kiss on his forehead. She didn't want to wake him up.

noodles 04-21-2008 03:35 PM

Nathan groaned as Egypt kissed his forehead but he didn’t wake up. His five minutes break were up and he was well the truly out for the count… this perhaps wasn’t the brightest idea he’d ever had.

Tommehbell 04-21-2008 04:20 PM

She smiled when he shifted his position on the couch. She walked over to the sink and rinsed off the cap on her butterbeer and walked back down to the Law Library, she would see Nathan at dinner, well if he woke up.

harrys_other_broom 04-22-2008 12:45 AM

Zoey sighed as she sat down in the chair. She had been working here for a while now and yet she really hadn't met anyone yet. There was one person who said something to her in the office but that was it. All she did was go to work, work, eat, work and go home. God I wish I could meet someone here. Just someone to talk to and maybe hang out with after work.
