"Before this? Well, I didn't really do anything. Just a few small jobs with creatures here and there, nothing major. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do yet, I just knew that it would have to be something with animals." Pablo looked back at his drawing and relized that he had drawn a baby dragon. He smiled and chuckled quietly at this and then turned back to Kass. "So what did you do before the ministry?" |
"Traveled." Kasandra searched through her drawer for some food. Alas she was misguided. She found a cookie wrapper but it appeared empty. A small pout came across her face then quickly left. "When I left Hogwarts, I traveled and studied all sorts of creatures. I didn't really have a job, I had all my parents wealth to me- so I used that to travel and study. It did me some good. Just after my nineteenth birthday I got a job here. It's a pretty good job, I still get to travel somewhat." |
Shannon looked up at the offer and smiled. Pity he was obviously moving; he wasn't talkative and that suited Shannon just fine. She turned back to the memo. Although it was long, it wasn't all that hard to understand. She pulled out a notebook and began making notes for her reply memo. |
The start of a new day. Again. Violet walked down the hallway until she came to the familiar door of her office, the one labeled CENTAUR LIASION. She made to push it open, but it already was. Strange, she thought. She stepped inside and pulled the door shut behind her. "Good morning," she said pleasantly to the room. She looked over at Kelly's empty desk. So she wasn't there yet. Violet looked and saw that James was in the office. She smiled at him. Then she noticed that there was an unfamiliar face there. "Oh, are you new?" she asked. "Forgive me; I'm Violet Silvermoon." She sat down at her desk and absentmindedly twisted her long brown hair into its tight, elegant bun. She then looked back over at the new Ministry of Magic employee with strange violet eyes. |
" Morning Violet." he said with a smile. " This is Shannon Kaminski. I'm sure you and Kelly can show her the ropes basically if she has any questions. " James said " if any of you need anything I'll be just down the hall. i new to get caught up with events on the other offices." He said he had a lot to get familar with as the new Division head ans the sooner he got started the better. |
Violet nodded. "Hello Shannon...or, I'm sorry, do you prefer Ms. Kaminski?" she asked. She turned back to James. "All right. I think I've got everything under control," she assured him. "By the way, congratulations on becoming the Head," she added. THen Violet turned back to Ms. Kaminski. "Is there anything i can do for you?" she asked. |
Shannon smiled at the woman. Perhaps working here wasn't going to be so horrible after all; although the violet eyes were a little startling. "Either is fine, really," she reassured the woman. Violet, she reminded herself. "And yes. Could you tell me where I'm supposed to send this?" she gestured to the piece of parchment on which she'd been composing a reply to the memo. "There was no place noted on the memo." |
Violet smiled back. "I guess I'll call you Shannon," she said. She looked at the sheet of parchment. "Yeah, you just make a paper airplane out of it, and it knows where to go automatically," she said. She smiled again at Shannon. |
Shannon returned the smile easily. This surprised her; she was smiling more in one hour than she had all month. If I'm not careful this job might actually make me a decent person, Shannon thought sardonically, folding the reply into a neat airplane. As Violet had said, the memo shivered into life and zoomed out of the room the moment Shannon let go. She looked after it for a moment, a little bemused by its speed. Then, nodding in thanks to Violet, she sat down and removed the next stapled pack of paper from the pile. Looking quickly to the right-hand corner, she couldn't stifle a groan. Thirty-five pages this time... |
Violet watched the memo zoom out of sight. When it had gone, she sat down at her own desk and pulled the huge pile of papers waiting for her towards herself. "Let's see...what have we got here today," she muttered to herself. Sweet Merlin, I'm actually talking aloud to myself! she thought in astonishment. Those long hours of work must be getting to me. She noted this last fact with some surprise. She had been working here six years and was alwyays fine. It's probably nothing, she assured herself. She turned her attention back to her paperwork. |
Kelly walked up to the door looking tired, she pushed it open and walked in. "Good morning" she said while walking to her desk. She smiled at Violet and nodded to James. "Hi, you're new? I'm Kelly Black" she looked at the woman, she hadn't seen here before. |
Shannon looked up from the packet quickly, as another person introduced themselves. It was a woman, looking ready to drop. "New? Yes," Shannon replied. "Pleasure. I'm Shannon Kaminski." |
Violet looked up and smiled back at kelly. "Wow, Kelly, you look dead on your feet," she observed. "Rough night?" |
Kelly smiled at Shannon "Nice to meet you,my dear!" She looked at Violet as she spoke. "Yes, I ended up with two werewolves yesterday and like that hadn't been enough, I had to end up with a wounded centaur at 3 a.m." she laughed. |
Violet groaned sympathetically. "I'm sorry," she said. "Maybe you'll have better luck next time!" She turned back to her work and started to read the reports on the centaurs that were living near Belle's and Cooper's schools. |
Shannon looked up as the woman called Kelly detailed her night. "Werewolves?" she asked, confused. "Does the centaur office have to deal with them?" |
Kelly smiled at Violet "Yeah. Just were in a wrong place at a wrong time. Which reminds me" she wrote something on a piece of paper, folded it into a plane and let it swoop out of the office. She turned to Shannon as she spoke "Oh now, I was just attacked by them for no reason. They were unregistered I guess, cause I can't recall any of the registered ones near London. I was there by accident, so it's a little bit my fault. Almost forgot, need to send another one" she smiled a little, wrote another memo and saw it out of the room. |
Violet let part of her mind listen to the conversation, in case someone started talking to her. But most of her concentration was still on her work. She sent a memo of her own, and prepared some messages for other offices in the department. She read another report about some centaurs in Wales that were having a dispute about who was the leader. She frowned at this; it didn't seem necessary that they should have a leader, but centaurs were more stubborn than ink stains, so she didn't dwell on it. |
Shannon nodded as Kelly Black explained the incident then blinked in surprise as a new report appeared on her desk with a *pop*. URGENT: it read, Ominous Centaur Predictions from Northern Ireland Shannon read through the short paper, her eyebrow raised unconsciously in skepticism. It seemed a load and a half of drivel. Position of Mercury, sunset patterns, star brightness... |

He ignored the part about the "wealthy parents" and instead was curious about something else. "You've been here...how long then?" Pablo scratched his head in confusion. He didn't want to ask Kasandra right out about her age...that's something you never ask women. |
Ana almost smiled at Pablo's obvious avoidance of the question, and rose from her seat. She still wasn't sure what she was to be doing, and so far, nobody had bothered to clarify that situation. She was conent enough to make new friends at the office without the pressure of work thrust upon her as soon as she passed the threshold, but she was also eager to begin working with animals, with dragons. Deciding to leave her two new co-workers to their conversation, she left in search of the kitchen, thinking she might find some more people there, and discover more about her workplace and duties. |
"I've been everywhere. Well not everywhere. I just traveled to bunch of different places. America, Canada, Mexico, Cuba, Brazil, Egypt, New Zealand, Spain, The Netherlands, Chile, Russia..." Kasandra stopped talking for a moment and then laughed. "I'll just shut up. I've traveled lots. I'll leave it at that." She didn't want to make it seem as though she was a stuck up brat with rich parents. She was far from that. Both her parents had passed- and she got what they had left. That was enough to go about the world at a low expense. "I've been here for half a year maybe." She shrugged and looked over at Pablo. "Not very long. I am still trying to get use to the office life." |

"So what exactly is it that we do around here anyway?" Pablo cocked his head at Ana's empty chair. "I believe I'm probably not the only one wondering...." |
Kasandra laughed. As she did a fresh set of files and papers appeared in her inbox on her desk. She rolled her eyes and took them off. She grabbed a pen and put it in her outh and she searched for her stamps and other things. The bangs of her hair was in her eyes. And as she searched the hair shorted out of her way. "Fundd mitt." She mutted with the pen in her mouth she took the pen out and put her stamps and inks down. "Well Mr. Pablo I will be sure of that." She laughed. "What do we do..." She pointed down to the fresh paperwork on her desk. "This is what we do. Sigh, stamp, mark, send, fill..." She opened a file. "A man claimes someone has been in his pub peddling illegal dragon eggs." Kasandra sighed. For a young woman she seemed to be able to talk to talk. "Every once and a while we get sent out with a team to retrieve a dragon or get an egg or something along those lines." She nodded stamping the file. |

"Alright then...so do you want any help with those?" Pablo asked as Kass finished explaining their work. |
