| | | The Observatory
Feel like looking at some stars? You've come to the right place. From here in you can see a tiny fraction of the 400 billion or so stars found in the Milky Way Galaxy. Located at the highest point in the Astronomy Tower is a circular spacious deck that it just three flights of spiraling stairs above the Astronomy classroom. Here, students are encouraged to use it the large telescope located along its edge or any of the smaller telescopes accenting the perimeter of the deck. In the cupboards around the space you can also find and borrow a variety of handheld astronomical instruments from astrolabes to nocturnals to sextants.
Large star charts are magic'd to the walls which anyone is free to study for own leisure or school assignment. Be advised that any attempt to takedown these charts is discouraged unless you fancy yourself a tail and enjoy barking when you attempt to speak.
Stargazing is an activity best practiced at night and therefore the observatory always open to students and their academic pursuits at all hours of the day - as long as students adhere by a curfew and have permission from a member of faculty showing that you are allowed to be here after curfew. If caught after hours without a signed note you can expect that there will be consequences.

| Open! Bathes in Maple Syrup | Dancing Lobster | Moy Pomidor | Seneca's Beard | That Is So Fetch! The Astronomy Tower was quiet. The wind slipped past the stone in low whistles, carrying the faint scent of damp moss and distant lake water. He liked it up here. It reminded Ousmane a little of the open terraces at Uagadou, where the sky had always felt impossibly wide.
He adjusted the strap of his satchel on his shoulder and crossed to the edge of the tower. Below, the grounds rolled out in shadowed blues and blacks; above, the heavens glittered in silver pinpricks. He tilted his head back, eyes tracing constellations he'd learned years ago.
A small smile tugged at his mouth as he reached into his pocket and drew out a folded piece of parchment covered in neat notes and tiny star sketches. Homework, technically. But he didn't mind Astronomy assignments. They felt less like work and more like a conversation with the universe, with time, with things far older than Hogwarts' walls.
Ousmane set the parchment aside and turned to the brass telescope fixed near the tower's edge. The metal was cool beneath his fingers as he adjusted the angle, tightening the knob with careful precision.
He leaned in, closing one eye as the other met the lens, and slowly twisted the focus until the blur of light sharpened into a crisp scattering of stars. A quiet breath left him as they became more distinct and steady.
"Betelgeuse," he murmured quietly in French. "Te voilà."

"Betelgeuse," he murmured quietly in French. "Te voilà." Tiffany decided to head up to the Astronomy Tower to catch up on her constellation charts. While she likely wasn't going to use the subject after Hogwarts, it did have an unmistakable link to divination and her performance on her OWL exams had been less than adequate.
The tower was quiet which meant perfect studying vibes, except for an older Hufflepuff boy who probably wouldn't bother her except ... was that? Her first two years of formal wizarding education had been at Beauxbatons where she'd heard French more common place than English. Sadly since transferring to Hogwarts she hadn't utilized the language much and other than recognizing it, she wasn't sure how much she could hold a proper conversation.
It was, however, enough to start the conversation. "You're... parlez vous French?" Yes her French really was rusty.
