Grounds: The Wooden Bridge

A covered bridge of questionable construction that connects the courtyard to the rest of the grounds, this rickety bridge has been damaged and repaired many times over, the most recent major incident being its total collapse during the battle at Hogwarts in 2104. The structure was ultimately brought down by fire and duel, an incident which was not without casualties.

Since then, the wooden bridge has been restored, and is back to its former... glory. Although it still looks like it may fall apart again and send anyone standing on it into the ravine below again, it probably won't. Not so soon, at any rate. Still, any exceptionally loud creaking should be reported to the groundskeeper, just in case.

This long and narrow bridge has a rich history attached to it, and deserves your respect. On your way between the grounds and the castle, why not stop and admire the view for a moment?

Norah needed fresh air. While she loved Hogwarts and was intrigued by the twist and turns of the corridors and moving staircases, nothing was quite like fresh air. Leaning with her elbows on the ledge of the bride, Norah looked out at the Hogwarts grounds. For the first time in a very long time, the eleven year old felt peace in her soul. She closed her eyes, took a deep breath and slowly exhaled. Hogwarts was her happy place, she decided with a smirk to herself.

Keighley was taking a little time for some fun this afternoon. Normally she didn't make her way down towards the bridge all that often for moments of leisure but today was that exception apparently. It was with the brightest smile on her face and a decision to have a little bit of light-hearted fun that brought her down that way. Some simple dance moves mixed with a little bit of MMA from her years of training was how she made her way onto the bridge. She might have looked a little silly to anyone that could be around but honestly she didn't even care.

Speaking of which, hello there younger year! Spotting the other girl as she came out of a spin, Keigh flashed a warm friendly smile in her direction.

Movement out of the corner of Norah's eyes made her head snap around. She watched as an older girl approached doing some sort of dancing and was that karate? Norah smirked to herself. Karate would be helpful with her siblings. "Hey, where'd you learn...that?" Norah asked, unsure of exactly what it was the girl was doing "And how does it work against younger siblings?" She asked with a small laugh.

Norah stuck her hand out, awkwardly yet with determination. "I'm Norah." She introduced with a little head nod.

Oooh, she was being spoken to! "Hello!" she replied cheerfully, her smile growing at the first question. Where did she learn 'that'? Which part? The dancing or the MMA that she had mixed in with it to be silly? "Umm, well the dancing I mostly learn from my brother Jude. He's amazing." Truly, amazing. Keigh could complement his dancing all day long. "The MMA I mostly train myself while I'm here at Hogwarts unless some of my people (family, friends or boyfriend) aren't busy and can help me but I originally got into it thanks to my oldest brother Koen. I took lots of lessons though.. for years and still do take a few whenever I'm home, it helps with competitions." And here she went already giving this young girl tons of information. "Erm.. well I wouldn't know since I'm the youngest," she laughed softly. "I would assume well unless they were better at it than you." Sorry Koen but she was definitely better than him now.

"It's nice to meet you, Norah. I'm Keighley," she reached for Norah's hand to give it a gentle shake.

Norah was thinking of Xavier and all the mischief he gets up to with Tabby and Grace. "I'm the oldest." Norah explained. "Well, the oldest girl at least. It's a bit complicated." She sighed. Man, this socialising thing was harder than she anticipated. Norah hadn't told any of her new acquaintances of her family dynamic. She knew Jackson had told some of his classmates and friends, but it was different when you have to say the words out-loud for yourself.

Norah shook her head as if knocking the thoughts out of her mind. "Wait, what's MMA?" She furrowed her brows together, looking to Keighley for an answer. "Is that the same stuff as karate?"

There was the slightest tilt of her head when Norah didn't really explain what she meant next but it was alright, she wasn't one to pry. Koen is the oldest but he's married and in a band that tours a lot so he's been out of the house for quite awhile now." Though he visited as much as he could he didn't live at home full-time anymore.

There it was. The question she was used to hearing time and time again, not that she minded at all. Not everyone knew what it was. "It's basically all different forms or martial arts mixed up together and used in training and competitions." Keigh smiled hoping her simple description was helpful. "Yeah, a bit." Only a little more.. advanced? Complicated? It really depended on who was explaining it all and better yet.. where she was being taught from.
