Default Runristning Alcove

The Runristing Alcove sandwiched between the Ancient Runes classroom and Professor Cox's office is less a hallway and more a half hidden workshop. Marked by stone arches covered with faint carvings of Elder Futhark and other ancient scripts, lanterns burn low here with their light casting long shadows across tables piled with rune etched fragments, parchment scraps, and magnifying lenses. The tables are known as the Translation Tables and are where students may painstakingly practice piecing together lost words and fractured inscriptions. Opposite the Translation Tables stands the Archive Cupboard. Inside its heavy oak doors are rare scrolls, manuscripts, and dictionaries too fragile or, in some cases, too dangerous for casual hands and require explicit permission from Professor Cox before use. The air carries the scent of stone dust and scorched wood from the Carving Nook just adjacent to the Translation Tables, where chisels and enchanted knives are set out beside small slabs of practice stone. Along the far wall, a tall glass fronted case hums quietly and homes rune stones of various origins for student use. And at the heart of the alcove stands the Bind Rune Practice Wall. This broad slate is enchanted to project the runes drawn upon it so that students may freely practice their craft without fear of implosing or magical rebound. When combinations succeed, they glow with a brilliant blue. When they fail (as they all too often do) they shimmer, flare, or collapse in soft showers of red sparks.

This space is part classroom, part workshop, part proving ground… and always alive with the restless hum of old magic.

Use it wisely.
