Office of Department Head Harmony Skylark As you stand outside the office of Harmony Skylark, you'll notice a handmade crocheted sign that reads Check your harsh vibes at the door. It is wise to follow this advise before knocking as the department head will no doubt be checking your aura before you enter. When you step inside, you are overcome with the feeling that you've entered a giant blanket fort. Colorful fabrics cover most of the walls and where there is empty space, pictures of creatures magical and mundane are featured in over-sized bamboo frames. Please take a seat on one of the comfy couches that may remind you of your grandparents in both how they smell and feel, all the furniture here is second hand. And as the scent of incense fills your nostrils, your eyes will wander over to where Ms. Skylark is seated, cross-legged on a pillow right in front of her desk. Best not to ask questions. Feel free to come play! Visitors are always welcome! |
After what had been a very emotionally exhausting day in the field, Harmony stepped into her office and closed her eyes, taking in the scent of incense. She heaved a deep breath and let it out slowly, her eyes fluttering open and landing on the pillow that was seated on the floor in front of her desk. Ah yes, she definitely had time for some meditation. Slipping off her hemp shoes, the red head wandered across her faux-fur carpet to the billowy pillow and sat down, legs crisscrossed in front of her. She then centered herself and after closing her eyes, let out a rather loud and over-dramatic, "Ooooooooooommmmmmmmmm!" ... ... "Oooooooooooommmmmmmmm!" |
An eagle circled around the room and landed on the desk and unfolded itself. Text Cut: parchment |
Finally free from its imprisonment, the creature left the holding area and scurried along the floor until it found new resting grounds by squeezing itself under a door. The beady-eyed creature clicked its large teeth and scurried as quickly as its legs could carry it towards the sofa where it began gnawing and nomming on the fabric of one of the cushions. *RIIIIIIIIIIP* Teeth tore through the fabric like butter. Oh! Didn't this seem like a nice place to build a home! Ripping through more fabric and flinging stuffing all about the floor, it began to make a nest-like home in the sofa cushion. |
After retrieving her unicorn thermos filled with wheatgrass, the creatures department head made her way swiftly back to her office. She had some paper work to take care of and some memos to send, all of which she had to do before she could indulge in the green liquid heaven. As soon as she entered the space, Harmony could tell that something was off. It was the vibe of the room, it was all wrong. The energy was different than when she'd left and there was an aura in the room that was not her own. Clear red, powerful and energetic. Very different than her current royal blue. Now what had entered her sp- O__________________________O "MY SOFA!" Stuffing. everywhere. Noises. Creature. What...?! AHEM. She needed to breathe. She needed...a sip...of wheatgrass. SIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIP. "What in the name of Odin's raven is going on in here?!" As if whatever was now NESTING in her cushions could talk, yeah? Wand out, she placed her unicorn thermos down and approached the damaged sofa slowly, taking deep, calming breaths as she did. This situation called for calm. Oh yes. |
WARM WARM WARM SO WAAAAAAAAAAARM! The creature had now completely buried itself within the cushion, marked its territory a few times over, and was now curling up in a ball to catch some much needed sleep....until it HEARD something. "SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" Teeth clattering once again, the creature began nomming its way out the other end of the cushion until it was out, scurried along the sofa, and LEAPED across until it landed on the desk and onto one of the fabrics covering the walls where it began scaling it. Up up up it went while looking for another escape route. |
That screeching was unnerving and as soon as Harmony saw what she was dealing with, she took a few steps back and put a protective shield between herself and the unknown creature. As far as she knew, the Accidents and Catastrophes team was still awaiting results on tests they'd done on this particular specimen so she knew little of what it was capable of. All she did know was that its teeth were incredibly powerful and it was unexpectedly fast. Merlin. O_______O The red head's eyes widened as the creature began scaling the fabric on the wall, impressed by its ability to climb like that. Pity she couldn't take notes right now. Instead she watched and tried to stay out of the creature's way. As long as it was in her office, it was contained. "How on earth did you get out of your cage?" She said quietly, head tilted to the side. "No matter. You are safe in here, okay? No harm will come to you but you will need to return to a confined area where you will be looked after. It's not safe for you to run around like this." And not safe for her furniture either. And now she was inching closer to the wall, wand at the ready. |
It had been a fairly normal day. A spectre problem had been taken care of and January had just returned to her work area to fill some paperwork when she saw out of the corner of her eye her department head entering her office. She didn't think anything of it until she heard an exclamation about... her sofa? January looked towards the woman's door before slowly making her way towards it. Was the woman talking to herself? She wouldn't put it past her, but she certainly sounded slightly... panicked. Hesitantly, January knocked on Harmony's office door. "Miss Skylark? Is everything all right?" |
Heyyyy-o, there was January. "Did you hear the sofa screeches TOO?" William wondered aloud as he came up on the door. Guess this was the right door to his boss' office, since she was knocking and all. He stood slightly behind the redhead, a puzzled frown on his face as he wondered just what was going on in there, and whether or not they should force the door open? What if she was being attacked by something that had flown in through the window |
Talking. The human was talking to it. Escape. Must. Escape from the talking human. Pink drool oozed out of the creatures mouth and dripped all over the floor below. It's teeth chattered and it began to crawl around the room easily thanks to all of the fabrics hanging from the walls. Yes, so nice for its claws to grip. Oh so nice. It eventually made its way back towards the door and began to try and squeeze its way back under it. This place. Not safe. Must escape. |
Oh Merlin's beard, this creature's aura was pulsating and Harmony wasn't making any headway with the soothing words. Not to mention that the drool was getting all over and she doubted it was good for the floors. She had this urge to vile the pink substance for further testing but that was quickly stifled. This poor thing was clearly petrified and acting out of fear. The only fair thing to do was to stun it so that it could be handled with care and put back into a safe environment. Only Harmony could not get a clear shot what with the creature maneuvering around the walls like it was. Her only hope was that it would come down to ground level again so that she could corner it and then came her opportunity. And the knocking... What timing. "The unidentified creature we have been keeping in the holding room has somehow escaped. It is currently trying to crawl under the door. Please have your wands at the ready and watch your toes, people. We need to contain this situation." As for Harmony, she was going to give the stunning spell another go. Hold still, little guy. "Stupefy!" |
Oh, good, there was William. Which meant she wasn't totally insane and that someone else had heard odd things coming from behind the door as well. "I did," she replied quietly. January leaned closer to the door, but didn't hear anything other than their department head speak up. The unidentified creature escaped? The mutant Well. This was peachy. And it was now trying to get under the door..? January looked down. Wait. It was IN her office? January's eyes widened and she quickly |
Dear? William tried not to be puzzled by the fact that January had just called him dear, and instead focused on working his wand out of his pocket. He got it out just in time, as SOMETHING appeared to be trying to squeeze out the door. Harmony sounded okay though. She was still giving orders and stuff. "Should we stupefy it too?" he muttered out of the side of his mouth to January, though all his focus was on the bottom of the door. |
The creature let out another ear piercing screech when the one human shot a bright light in its direction. BRIGHT LIGHTS, NO LIKEY THE BRIGHT LIGHTS! Clawing its way further under the door, it began to nomomomomom on the wood in desperation to make its escape easier. As its giant teeth and pink saliva hit the wood, a low hissing sound could be heard as the acidity turned it to woody mush and allowed it to escape to the other side of the door. Squeaking and chattering its teeth, it scurried across the ground and up the man's pant leg where it latched onto his leg. Dark places were the best sort of hiding places. |
Eyes on the creature, Harmony could't help but feel an overwhelming urge to save it from whatever panic it was currently feeling. It weighed terribly heavy on her creature-loving heart to see something behaving in such a frightened manner and in her presence, no less. Did the creature not sense her positive vibes? She frowned slightly at this, wishing she could magnify them for it. Attack her? Was that what was asked? "Merlin, no. The creature seems to want to get as far away from me as possible. Poor thing had a bad experience with humans, no doubt." O___O The light her wand had produced seemed to be a trigger and Harmony raised an eyebrow, both startled and curious about the sudden desperation the creature was exhibiting. "It doesn't seem to like the light. We'll need to lure it into a cage by other means. I think you should summo-" ...one. Only she couldn't finish her sentence because now the creature was free and her door, her poor door, was ruined. The red head quickly opened it just in time to see the creature scurry up William's pant leg. The man had handled dragons so surely he would be able to handle this, yes? "Just seeking a dark place, is all." She said thoughtfully. "William, I need you not to panic." |
Seeking a DARK PLACE? His pants were a DARK PLACE?!!!!! William felt the hair on the back of his neck stand straight up as he tried not to say, or do, or move, anything. There. Was. A. Creature. With. Acidic. Breath. On. His. Leg. "Um, Harmony?" His voice came out in a bit of a squeak. "Can I hug it or move it or tackle it or something?" Not panicking, not panicking, just asking questions, not panicking. After all, if he wrapped it up in a blanket and hug!squeezed it tight enough, maybe it would pass out. That would be a dark place for it. "Did you SEE what it DID to your DOOR?!" NOT PANICKINGGGGG okay maybe he was panicking a little. BUT IT WAS LATCHED ON TO HIM. WHAT IF IT BIT HIM AND MELTED HIS THIGH THROUGH AND HE LOST THIS LEG?!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He'd never be able to ride dragons ever again!? Also, what in Merlin's middle name WAS this creature?!!!!!!! |
Tackle the creature? Harmony wrinkled her nose and held up her hands, as if stopping that train of thought right in its tracks. "I don't think that wise. My door was a result of my trying to contain the creature." And surely grabbing it would only cause it to react in a frightened manner, one which might result in a not-so-good endgame for William. The red head crept forward, eyeing the man curiously as she assessed the situation. After a moment or two, she came up with the only solution she could think of. "William, I think you'll need to remove your pants." Perhaps she could use some of the "I suggest you start by removing your shoes...slowly." |
January had been sort of astounded by the fact that the creature's saliva was melting the door and she hadn't been prepared enough to stop it when it bolted out and scrambled up William's pant leg. Oh dear. That was a problem. His shouting was probably not helping, but January couldn't blame him. In fact, she probably would have whacked the thing on the head if it were her, but she assumed that her department head would not be okay with that. "Try not to shout, Will," January said calmly, her wand pointed at his leg. It would only frighten the thing more, which could possibly cause it to sizzle his leg. Wait.... what? Harmony wanted him to take his pants off? Right now? Really? January quietly summoned an empty cage from the holding room and caught it in her hands. She carefully set it on the ground near William's foot. "Maybe you could try immobilizing or stunning it from... inside your pants." Merlin. What a situation. |

His mouth literally dropped open when his boss asked him to remove his pants. Wasn't there some kind of law against that in the uh workplace????? Not that he was complaining, exactly, except maybe he was. They were standing in the middle of a hallway, here. Hello. "Yeah I'll try," he sarcastically remarked to January. At least she was trying something, with that cage there. "I don't," he awkwardly tried bending at the hip but was afraid of actually touching the creature with his bare skin. "I don't know how to do this." Immobilize from inside his pants with WHAT?!??! He slowwwly moved his wand around to point at the creature. Harmony had said it liked dark spaces, right? What if he calmed it down by making it THINK everything had gone dark? Maybe it would just let go of his leg. "Obscuro!" he whispered strongly, pointing his wand straight at the creature thingy's little face. |
Harmony genuinely didn't understand the looks and so she just remained solemn, eyes on William's pants for any signs of movement. She hadn't meant to scandalize the man, only prevent his leg from being exposed to acidic saliva. The red head was glad that the cage was now here and gave an approving nod to January though she knew that their struggle with this creature was probably far from finished. If it had been a fan of being in the cage, it probably would not have tried to escape in the first place. No matter, though. This was an excellent opportunity to see her employees working in a high stress environment. Wasn't the universe lovely in that it afforded you impromptu assessment opportunities like this one? And hopefully William did not have a shaky wand hand because it was imperative his aim was true. If he did not hit the creature dead-on, he'd probably only cause it to go wild again and he wasn't exactly a safe distance away from it for something like that. "Good thinking with the blindfold, William." Perhaps now the creature could be stunned without worry. Perhaps. |
The combination of the body heat from the human and the darkness from the pant leg - which pleasantly became darker all of a sudden - not only soothed the creature, but also made it quite sleepy. zzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZZZ *SNOOOOOOOOOOOOORE* |
So...... it was over just like that? The creature fell asleep? Erhrrrm. What was he supposed to do with a sleeping attachment on his leg? "Should I put it in the cage?" he whispered back to Harmony. You know what, maybe her idea about taking off his pants was right. William gently shook his leg to see if it were really and truly sleeping. It was. It was even snoring. "Maybe if I just... sort of... wrap it up..." William mused, more to himself than to either of the ladies present. But what was he going to wrap it up in when it was still attached to his leg?? He had an idea, but... well... they were ladyfolk present.... William sighed to himself and gently slipped out of his shoes. Good thing he hadn't worn sneakers today. His face was already starting to turn red from what he was about to do. "Ladies, you might want to avert your eyes." Oh man. What boxers had he even worn today? Please not the red hot chili pepper ones... He really hoped January wasn't looking. He was going to be SO EMBARRASSED. He hurried with the next part of his plan: undoing his pants and actually taking them off. He was very, very careful as he slid his trousers down with the clingy creature on them. Once they were off, and it was still sleeping, Then he placed it in the cage with a sigh and tried to decide what he was going to do down without pants. For now, though, he stood behind the cage and tried not to look too awkward. |
*snort* Snoring. Such a lovely sound. It was the sound of a creature at ease and relaxed, one that she'd hoped to hear from this particularly active creature as soon as possible. This meant they could secure it without any further damage to the office, then. Her poor office. Such bad vibes in there now. She'd need to light some extra lilac incense after this little scene. Eyes on William, Harmony raised her eyebrows and said airily, "Oh no, I think he's quite cozy where he is." Her smile gave away that she was joking, though. Everyone could relax now that the creature was pretty much pacified and humor was a good way to calm people down. At least Harmony thought so. And look, William had decided that her pants idea wasn't so far-fetched after all. If Harmony was the type of person to gloat, she WOULD have given January a smug look right now, but Harmony was NOT that type. Ohhh no. So instead she simply gave her dragon enthusiast an approving nod and watched. Because she was the department head and because as the department head, it was her duty to aim her wand at the creature in case it woke up in the process of William removing his pants. This was purely for business purposes, you see. The red head could care less about William's pants or the fact that they were coming off. ...Mhm. After the creature was securely in the cage, Harmony BEAMED at William and January, clearly pleased with how they'd handled themselves in such a chaotic situation. "Well done, the both of you. Now William, I've got an extra sarong in my office that you can wrap around yourself until we are able to retrieve your pants from our little sleepy-head." And without waiting to see if he'd even want that, Harmony hurried over to her desk and removed a dolphin print, aqua sarong from one of the larger drawers. "Here you are. It'll go nicely with your skin tone." GRIN! "And January, I think we'd better get this cage back to the holding room. Do you think you could manage that?" |
*gate crashes* *makes wiggles brows* Alright. SOMEONE needed to take a look at the lifts as well. After stopping and jolting and literally getting no where for ten minutes, he and Gavin and given up on using the lifts and taken the stairs to Harmony's office. Thankfully, it was only the next level, so there wasn't roo much hustling involved. Not enough that he couldn't handle it anyway. Only the lifts were not the strangest thing he encountered on this visit to Harmony's office. Aron stopped dead in his tracks when he saw a man with his pants off, Harmony standing there looking pleased with herself, and another woman standing nearby. What in Merlin's name was this all about? Was the man's pants' aura off? That would just be the sort of thing Harmony would think up, right? "Um...is this a bad time?" he asked while trying not to further attention to the bloke with his pants down. He didn't want to know. Really. Did NOT want to know. |
*coughs* That lift...he had had it with that lift. If he had to take the stairs for the rest of his time here then he would, but after nearly having a repeat of an earlier lift malfunctioning problem, the thought didn't even bother him. He'd found the sign on the door a bit...off to say the least but before he could ask any questions Aron had opened the door and there was a man without his pants on. ... ...... Blink. There was an initial raise of his eyebrow, as if he was going to ask but then nope. He wasn't gonna. Today was a bundle of weird. Mutants running around cafes turning floors pink with acidic saliva and now...he didn't even know what this--all this was in front of him but he was willing to bet that he didn't want to know. Gavin fixed his gaze on the woman they'd come to speak with in the first place. "Should we...come back?" When everyone was properly pants-ed and not adding to the crazy that was his day. Quite frankly, the man was beginning to miss his office. Nothing bad ever happened there. |
Welp. Apparently the pant removal was unavoidable. Of course. January did as suggested and averted her eyes for William's comfort and her... Well. Seeing a friend in his boxers wasn't exactly something she needed to see. But she did stay nearby, her wand at the ready by the cage just in case the creature woke up again. All the while, she couldn't help but notice Harmony staring at William while he removed his pants. Would it have killed her to have some subtlety? Merlin, woman. Once the creature was in the cage, January closed and locked it up for William. She nodded to Ms. "I promise this is not what it looks like," January said immediately. But, after a pause, she continued, "Actually, I'm not sure what it looks like..." She gave glances to Will and Harmony. Err... help? |
"What it looks like," William jumped in, his hands firmly in place over the front of his dragon boxers, "is that I saved us all from a rabid creature with acidic saliva and sacrificed my pants in the process." Big whup. He shrugged and shuffled around the cage to the There. He was clothed like a somewhat normal human being now. "Anything else I can assist you with, Ms. Skylark?" he asked stiffly, eying the two blokes who had just barged in. |
Harmony honestly did not find anything amusing or embarrassing about this situation. They were all adults, all wore undergarments, and all were here to do whatever they could to ensure that magical creatures like the one who'd found a home in William's pants, received proper treatment. In the red head's opinion, this situation could not have gone more smoothly. In fact, perhaps in some way William would find this liberating. Men wore tunics in olden times and got along just fine. Maybe some time in a sarong would help him get in touch with his inner old soul. Or his feminine side. Harmony supported both, to be honest. When Aron and a man she'd yet to meet showed up unannounced, Harmony simply smiled serenely and stepped aside to make more room. "Actually, I think it's unfair to assume that just because the creature behaved so wildly, it is infected by rabies. If you were in an unfamiliar place and someone was trying to catch you, surely you'd go into survival mode as well." Just something to think on. "Gentlemen, my office is a bit torn up at the moment but feel free to stay. I'm actually curious as to whether the tests being conducted on this creature's saliva have yielded any results, Aron." "January, William, thank you for your quick thinking. Perhaps you can go to the holding room together and check to see that the other cages are holding up okay? And William, you can head out early today in lieu of your...pants predicament." And with a gracious bow of the head, Harmony glanced towards the door. Time to get back to work, people. One little mutant was definitely not going to disrupt her department. |
Not what it looks like? Aron didn't even know what he WAS looking at not did he entirely care to know the specifics. Not to mention he was now perplexed on which state of Harmony's male employee was more concerning - him in his boxers or him in a sarong. "You mean, one of the mutants is in your pants?" he asked, blinking and pointing at the pants. "Gavin was just telling me about there being more sightings of them, mutants, around London. We were just coming here to tell you and see if you needed any assistance." And he was going to refrain from making a joke about the current state of affairs. Just, nope, not going to go there even if he would have lichened to. "Actually, the samples that were previously collected have been lost. The refrigeration and incubation units in the laboratory just stopped working a few days ago and everything in there was lost. New samples will have to be collected from the creature now that repairs have been made." |
Gavin wasn't trying to make sense of anything that was happening anymore. They didn't really need to explain but one of the women did. It wasn't what it looked like...but she didn't know what it looked like. That put them in the same boat. He didn't know what it looked like either. And another explanation about saving the office from rabid...mutants...you had to be joking. ....They were everywhere. Gavin's eyes followed Aron's pointing to the pants. Suddenly, this scene was all making sense and left him without comments. Did the thing do all this to the office?? He kept looking at the cage. If it could destroy an office, how was that thing holding it in? On the topic of needing new samples and new information he felt the need to add. "That thing isn't the only mutant you'll need information on. From what Aron's telling me, they're very different. There's at least two kinds of mutants running around, but the pink acidic saliva seems to be the same." So you see...there was a problem. A fur-less, ugly, destructive problem. |
For some reason, January felt embarrassed for William and she wasn't sure if it was because he lost his pants or because he was currently wearing a rather unattractive dolphin pattern. Either way, she actually agreed with Harmony's idea of going to the holding room with William. Anything to escape the weird predicament they were in. "We can do that," January replied to her department head, collecting herself again. "Gentlemen," she said with a nod at the two of them before turning towards William. She levitated the cage with her wand, keeping it a safe distance away from the both of them. And then she made her way to the holding room, hoping William had followed her. |
Unfair to assume the creature was rabid? How was that unfair? It had destroyed Harmony's office and taken William's pants. Some people called him crazy for his love of dragons, but crazy.... crazy didn't even touch his boss, he was starting to think. Still, it wasn't really his place to judge. So William remained quiet through this all, and only spoke up when he was semi-addressed again. "Yeah, there's a mutant in my pants." That was... that was so odd to say out of context. Uhhhh. "I mean," William cleared his throat, "it jumped out of Harmony's office and onto my leg. She said it liked dark spaces, so I blindfolded it, it fell asleep, and then I swaddled it up in the pants. It's kinda clingy." He shrugged. And that was his extent of the mutants, so, he'd be following January now. "I'm gonna, I'm gonna just..." He scratched at his ear and awkwardly exited the room, hoping his... shirtdress... wasn't flapping too much. Merlin. This sarong thing was short. |
Harmony gave the retreating forms of January, William, and the caged mutant a peace sign and smile before her attention turned back towards the two strapping men in her office. And how nice that they were here to offer help to her department. That was one of the things she'd hoped for when she transferred here. Cooperation among departments was so important for a successfully run ministry and so far, the red head had not been disappointed. "I've actually sent someone over to Primpernelle's to recover another one of the escaped mutants just recently." So yes, she was aware of the various sightings around Diagon Alley and outside the ministry. She was also pleased to hear that these mutant creatures were alive and well. This meant that whatever had been done to them didn't seem to be life threatening. Well, at least not to the mutants."Perhaps it would be wise to interview any wizard and witch who has reported a sighting? Their experience with the creatures might give us clues as to what they were before they were tested on." "Broken, really?" That was unfortunate. Harmony wondered why there was no back up system in place for such a thing. "Well as soon as we get the creatures contained, they'll be placed in the holding room. Your people are welcome to come up and take what they need as long as they're respecting the creatures and being safe about it." She'd be watching, always watching. "Is that so? Well the acidic saliva seems to be a direct result of whatever was done to these poor creatures, then. I also noticed that the mutant we captured was frightened by the light. I wonder if this is also a side effect." Harmony tapped her chin thoughtfully as she made her way over to her desk, ankle bracelets jingling as she went. "Do you think it's too early to do a sweep of the ministry? If one mutant was found roaming around, it means more could have returned here." And talk of mutants and acidic saliva was really making the red head thirsty so she picked up her unicorn travel mug and took a longggg sip of wheatgrass smoothie. So refreshing! |
Aron tried desperately not to snort. Hey man, there was no need to try and impress anyone here with your mutant in your pants. His attention shifted from the pantless wonder to Harmony. "A mutant? Another one? Here in the Ministry?" Just thank Merlin it hadn't gotten in the lab again. Derek probably would have died. Primpernelle's? "So...that's four of these creatures at least," he said as he looked back to Davin. Since he was still unaware that the creature wrapped up in the man's pants was Mutant X. "I may be worth a try. I've actually got one of my Reminisciators on assignment to see if she can extract any memories from the creatures themselves. Due to the...er...complexity of their mutations, however, this isn't proving to be very fruitful. We are hoping that those crups we brought in a few months ago might give us some insight. I suspect that the two are connected giving the timing of both of their appearances in Diagon Alley." And that essentially brought her up to date on what he knew. He shook his head. "I think a sweep may be in everyone's best interest. Their saliva can be very damaging. Caused all sorts of havoc in our lab." As to the side effects, her guess was as good as anything. Hopefully his team would be able to pull up something soon. |
Gavin watched the two leave the office, the man stating he had a mutant in his pants....yes. That wasn't weird at all. Pants were the perfect holding place for such acidic things. He wasn't planning to retrieve his pants at the end of the day was he? Thank Merlin for apparition seeing as it'd be awfully unfortunate for the man to have to walk out into the greater public wearing that dolphin sarong but he was letting himself get distracted. Gavin snapped back to the two he was actively meant to be conversing with. From what he managed to gather there was yet another one, this one down by Primpernelle's. "Looks like it." He muttered in response to Aron's calculations. Four, the number wasn't that big to be honest but the mutants made it horridly large. Four was too many. He listened to the two discuss the genetics of the mutants and the steps they could possibly take to get answers. Not much to do until they could find out what they were dealing with but first they had to find out what these things were--"You say they showed up with some crups?" There were crups in the Ministry now too? Just how many things tried infesting this place in any one year? He nodded his agreement with the sweep. "It's our best bet at finding these things. Before they cause any real damage would be preferred. If this office is any indication of what they're capable of I'd hate to see what they can collectively do to the Ministry." You know, other than set him back by FOREVER. Ceasing all work because of a mutant would have annoyed him to no end. |
Four. It broke Harmony's creature-loving heart to hear that four different type of creatures had been subjected to tests that had mutated them so severely, they were now a danger to the safety of the ministry and the areas around it. It wasn't right and you bet your bottom the red head would have taken to the streets in protest of creature testing had she not been needed in the office. Perhaps she'd save that sort of stand for a Saturday. She'd need to circulate a sign-in sheet around the building in case any one wanted to join her or have a poster making party. Hm. "Yes, crups." Harmony's gaze fixed on Gavin and she nodded her head, a grave expression on her face. "The poor dears still had their second tails and some were running around in muggle territory, no-less! Their auras were simply pulsating with fear when I picked up the few who turned up in Diagon Alley." Luckily, the lot of them had been returned and were once again under Harmony's watchful eye. "It makes sense that they would have all come from the same institution. What with the timing and the complete lack of care all the creatures received." It just wasn't right. "Aron, please keep me updated if you find out anything else. I'd so like to get my hands on whoever caused this and--" Breathe, Harmony, breatheeeee. The red head closed her eyes and centered herself, taking a deep breath before her eyes fluttered open once again. "Sorry about that. I just hate to see creatures being mistreated." Once again calm, Harmony nodded her head at the idea of a ministry sweep. "Should we team up for this? We might be able to cover more ground that way. I've got cages to spare and we don't have time to waste. We could split the levels, if you're interested." |
Merlin, she was talking about auras again. Aron shot Gavin a look and tried not to roll his eyes. Aura pulsing aside, Harmony was right. Just maybe not about the auras so much. "Which reminds me, Harmony, you recall that lab that had been raided by creature rights activists?" Who knows, she could have even been one of those activists. She fit the stereotype anyway. "I just found a memo from Roxanne on my desk, that lab was never granted any building permits by the Ministry. I meant to send a memo to Emily about this, but the memos are no longer working in my department." So he was more likely to go deliver it in person since he was up and about anyway. Although things seemed like complete and utter chaos, Aron was beginning to see how these pieces to the puzzle could fit together. Hopefully his two companions were seeing it as well. "I am sure some of my employees would be more than willing to lend a hand. Minister's office as well?" he asked, eyeballing Gavin again. He actually had no idea what all went on in that office. Besides getting his paycheck. He knew payroll was in there and that was a very important thing. Big family man over here you see. Need those galleons to keep coming. "I'll take my cues from you, Harmony." Ugh. Had he really just said that? |
...........pulsating aura...? Was he meant to know what that was or what it looked like? He caught the look Aron had given him and in turn gave him a somewhat puzzled one before focusing on Harmony again. He was a man with a preference for explanations but that wouldn't happen now when they were in the middle of talks about Crups and illegal buildings. Wait. "The lab they all originated from...you lot found it?" GOOD if they did. He didn't want to think about any future break outs from that place, wherever it was. The mention of Emily told him there would now be some kind of criminal investigation. She'd love that. Pfft. His eyes widened just a bit when it looked like she might pop on the spot. Breathing happened and then apologies. Whether or not they were meant to put him at ease they didn't. The man blinked over at her. She was unstable. She was, if only a little. "It's understandable." He offered but only out of courtesy. A crup with two tails would still live. Now the mutants, those he couldn't help but be concerned about. Admittedly, it had nothing to do with the treatment of the animals prior to their escape but rather, what they could do now that they were out. Best keep that to himself.... Oh sweet Merlin, they were volunteering to go after these things? How bad would it have been for him to decline? Aron was looking to him again. Something told him this wasn't actually a request but more a notification. Yeah, he knew that type. "Of course. I'll pass this on the moment I get back to my Level." As for the cages, "I'll have one of those cages and go wherever I'm needed." He wouldn't be picky....but he would hope the mutant happened to be somewhere else, ugly little things they were. |
Did she recall the lab? Harmony raised her eyebrows and squeaked, "Do I ever!" Those people called themselves creature activists but did they consider the dangers the creatures would have to face once they were released into the public? CLEARLY not. They were definitely not the kind of activists Harmony would have run with. Her eyes darted between Aron and Gavin, wheels turning in her head. "Seems a bit fishy to me. The sooner MLE gets on that, the better. Perhaps it'll help us piece together what exactly they were doing to these creatures." And if Harmony had it her way, those tests would then be done on the doers. Hmph. Passion about her field of work was just something people would have to get used to and the red head, although a bit disappointed at her outburst, wasn't embarrassed. She cared and it showed, there was no harm in that. Perhaps others should care more. The world could use a little more of that. The corners of her lips tugged upwards at Gavin's niceties but that was all. She appreciated the gesture though she could tell from his vibe that this was all it was. Right, assignments. "All the equipment you need to contain these creatures will be available to you. I'll inform my employees of that. As for what we might pass on to the other levels, let's tell them to be aware of any peculiar activity or damaged office items. These mutants tend to leave a trail of destruction in their wake. We also might want to inform them that the mutants seem to dislike bright light. It might be a helpful tip if they come into contact with one." But how must to manage this? "If the memos seem to be down, perhaps word of mouth is best. Gavin, if you could have someone spread the word on levels one and two, that would be appreciated. Aron, how about levels three and five? Our department can handle the rest." It'd be a lot of work but she had faith in her team. "I think an 'If you see something, say something' policy would be just what we need to capture these creatures." |
*le wraps up* short and lame *BEAMS* Nodding nodding and some more nodding. All in a day's work, right? He had been on crup capturing duty, so hunting down and caging some mutants while being on his home turf shouldn't be too difficult. Or so he hoped at least. "Can do," he said while giving Harmony a thumbs up. His own employees were already aware of things, so a quick notice on the announcement board would fill in the rest of the details. As for Level 5, well, this would be the first time he would be taking a gander at it. Maybe he would snag a cup of coffee while he was up there. Just to make sure that the brew on his level was still the best. You know, priorities being in order and all. "Gavin, while you are there, can you let Emily know about all this? The lab lacking the paperwork and being build illegally specifically. Also means the testing done there was done illegally. You know, stuff that gets her mojo going." Bang bang zap bring 'em all in kicking and screaming stuff. "Better get to playing the owl I suppose," he said with a smirk before nodding his head to both his co-workers as he departed the office, pausing just a moment when he saw the state of her door. "I think you'll be needing a new one of those," he said while jabbing his thumb towards it. "Just save the bottom half for my department. Can use it as a sample in our research." And now he was really leaving. |
Consider him lost in this--whatever this was. The two were going on about some lab and illegal testing being done there but that was it. Was this something he was meant to be privy to? He just kept quiet and tried to get as much in as possible because apparently he'd be passing this all on to Emily. Well would you look at that, he'd have some reason to invade her office afterall. "Sure thing." In response first to Aron's request. Then Harmony went on about what they would be warning the levels about. As luck would have it he'd be warning Level Two as well. That made it easier to pass on that message for Aron. He'd get them both done before returning to his office. Might as well. Seemed like he'd be doing everything thing imagineable before being allowed to return. "If that's all I think I'll be leaving too..." Yeah...no need to stay here any longer. That sign on the door was enough incentive to make his time here sparse. The pulsating aura talk might have driven the point further if nothing else. Gavin gave a small nod to Harmony then headed out behind Aron. |
