Your new department head isn't in the room, but there is a note on the door: Quote:
|
Jasmine was ready to go into the meeting. She was quite nervous to meet everyone but she needed to know what she needed to do. She opened the door and she saw the note. Jasmine smiled and took her sandwich and was happy and content...she was hungry. She forgot to eat breakfast. Her boyfriend burnt the eggs again... Jasmine took out her notebook and quill and was ready to take notes and be professional. |
Honey was ready for this meeting. Kind of. It had been a while since she'd been called into a meeting, so she was bound to see some new faces. The main reason that she'd taken some time off for her wedding; necessary time if you asked her. Now she was happily married to Aaron Roberts and nothing could be better. She was confident that nothing would go wrong today. Very confident. When Honey reached the conference room, she slipped in and looked around. There appeared to be an assortment of different foods on a table at the side. That was good, granted the fact that she'd rushed out without eating. Taking out her notebook and ready-to-write quill, she took another look around the room and noticed that there was someone else present after all. She wasn't the first. Honey looked at the woman and smiled. "Hello," she said. She seemed friendly enough. |

Jasmine smiled with the food still in her mouth then she swallowed and talked to her. "Oh hi, i am Jasmine and you are?" she asked kindly. |
Nathaniel was of course running behind seeing as he wasn't adjusted to having to actually having a schedule. Well and the kid wasn't sleeping through nights yet. He was a little nervous to meet his co-workers. With a scone in his mouth he entered the conference room and found a seat |
Let's get this thing started, shall we ;) It wasn't too long after the last employee entered the conference room (he was still just sitting down, in fact) that Roxanne entered, ready for her first meeting as a department head, and sat in the big chair at the head of the table. And really? Only three of her employees felt it pertinent to show up? And one of them with a scone hanging out of his mouth? And the other two seemingly too good for muggle pens? Ugh, it was clear to her now that 1) she had a LOT of work to do with these people 2) it had been extremely easy to sneak a dangerous spore infested plant into the food court, if Belmonte hadn't run any tighter a ship than this. Well, she was going to change that starting......now. "Mr." - she took a moment to look at her employee files that she had brought with her, "Matthews, please get that scone out of your mouth. It's impolite to walk into your first meeting with your new boss with food hanging out of any place on your body. Not to mention, I did say I was providing lunch, did I not? And ladies, please take one of the provided pens. Thank you." Now, what was going to be her first point of this meeting? Oh yeah. "Now, do any of you know anything about the plants that were placed in the food court a year or so ago?" Damn, she had forgotten to ask Elinor or Aron what the stupid things were called. Some kind of Scottish fern or something? Anyway, let's just see what these people had to say first. |

Honey eyed the man for a second. Having food of any sort hanging out of his mouth, was admittedly, a pretty terrible way of making a good impression. Not that she was doing too good a job herself. She met her bosses and nodded politely, "Oh, of course." Quickly, she replaced her quill in her bag and took one of the provided pens. Now that those things were out of the way, it seemed that the meeting was moving forward .. to something she herself was not part of. That was going to sound just great, wasn't it. Honey spoke up first. "I'm afraid I was absent at this time, due to my father falling ill." ... She stayed quiet after that, unsure what to say. Hopefully someone else would speak up. That would be helpful. Hint hint. |

When she asked them to go get pens. Jasmine got up and got the pen and was ready to take notes. Then when she asked about what happened last year. Jasmine had no recollection. "I am sorry mam, i was busy with my mother last year, she passed away and i had to take care of her funeral businesses." It seemed like yesterday she passed away..... |
Oh yay. Only three of her current ten employees had felt it pertinent to show up to the departmental meeting and of those three, one was new and other two had been gone during the last year. Lovely. Which meant that she now had a decision to make. Cancel the meeting for now and restart it when more of her employees were present or continue on just let the rest of them fly by the seat of their pants. It was very tempting to do the later, but she decided that would be bad for the department. "Okay then. Since your fellow employees have decided that whatever is more important than actually showing up and meeting their new department head, I'm closing this meeting for now. If you see any of your fellow employees, please send them to my office." And Roxanne out. |
Magical Creatures Meeting starts here! Meeting time! Harmony was in a glorious mood as she set the homemade hummus and vegetable platter out on the table, her aura glowing an orangey-red. She was anxious to get things started and even more eager to have the entire team in one room. It'd be a good test to see how everyone's vibes meshed. That was important to her, the vibe meshing. To aid in the process, she'd brought the talking stick she'd crafted out of beads, bamboo, and ribbon. This way everyone could say what they wanted without fear of interruption. Oh yes, she was a fan of the talking stick. The red head had transformed the room for this particular meeting. She'd gotten rid of the uncomfortable chairs and settled on squishy pillow seats for each employee, the table having been lowered so they could take notes and eat with ease. She was definitely digging the new look. After making sure every last detail was perfect, the department head slid out of her sandals and settled on to her own giant pillow at the head of the table. She was so going to rock this. |
yaaaaaaay a talking stick William was here!!!!! He'd thought about maybe bringing along his He did. He brought just himself, his tie slightly askew already, and took in the look of the room before he picked out a pillow. This was..... different, but he could work with it. William plopped himself down on a plushy orange pillow-seat and attempted to cross his legs. When that didn't exactly work out, he worked on untying his shoes instead. Hopefully no one would sit too close to his stinky toes. Ehhh. |
First meeting of the new job! January was excited and nervous at the same time. Not that she didn't think she was capable, but just because she wanted to do well in her new job and make a good impression on her boss and the others at the Ministry. Speaking of the Ministry, it was so nice to be back in a building that spoke English again. Januarystepped into the conference room and... paused. Was it always set up like this? No chairs..? She figured it was just Harmony's style. "Miss Skylark,", January greeted pleasantly with a smile and a nod. She set her purse down on the floor. "How are you today?" she asked, carefully situating herself on a pillow next to William. A task a bit difficult in a skirt, so she bent her legs off to the side and was... almost comfortable. That would have to do. Ah. More hummus... Is that what smelled |
Harmony was wiggling her toes and admiring the way her newest toe ring caught the light when the first member of the creatures family arrived. Dragon man! The red head gave him a serene smile and tilted her head, observing that he chose the orange pillow. Orange, related to warmth and happiness. Emotional strength too. Did this reflect his character? Hm. "Hello, Willy." He had said she could call him that, yes? And there was January. She had a lovely sense of style, January did. A bit too restricting for Harmony's taste but still. The department head turned her attention to her and smiled at the greeting. "Well hello. I'm feeling inspired today, actually. I found the most interesting pebble on the way into work and brought it in for a desk decoration. It's lovely how nature grants us unexpected gifts, isn't it?" GRIN! "And how are you?" And where was everyone else? "You two can help yourself to some hummus if you want. We'll be starting shortly." |
*is heeeeere* She was probably late. But, of course, it wasn't her fault. Nope. It was her new boss lady's fault. She was the one who told them all to bring good vibes to the fancy staff meeting, and Destiny, being Destiny, actually went out to find some to bring. How in the name of Merlin was she supposed to know that those kinds of things couldn't be bought!? Or actually found!? She didn't even know what they were! Until she went into a few different types of shops to try and find them. At least the last shop she was A positive attitude would've been much easier to say. At least then, she wouldn't have went out looking for that. She had a positive attitude almost all of the time! Like, walking into the staff room, she was feeling pretty positive that that smell lingering in the air was not coming from her. She was also positive that she wasn't the only person who thought to find good vibes before the meeting. Why else would there be only three other people in the room!? "Hello, hello, hello." she greeted each person with a GRIN and an overly-enthusiastic wave. Positive attitude, see? Oh. Hummus! Destiny took a seat on one of the pillows and leaned forward to get a better look. "If you take one of the m's out of hummus, you get humus which is really just dirt." Eh, she didn't like to eat either. |
PMed people again! If no more people show up, she'll get started! Ah yes, another one of her employees. Destiny was an enthusiastic one and Harmony couldn't help but appreciate such vivaciousness in the work place. "Greetings, so nice to see you." A serene smile was given to Destiny before the red head helped herself to hummus since no one else seemed to be a fan. Dirt? Hm. "There have been studies that indicate that eating dirt is actually beneficial," the department head said thoughtfully. No harm in some chit chat while she waited another five minutes to give people a chance to arrive. "It is said to protect the stomach from harmful toxins and parasites." Fascinating, wasn't it? Not that she'd be going digging for her lunch any time soon but still. |
Katalin walked through the door worrying that she was very late she smiled when she saw several people from her department so she said politely whispered "Good morning!" as she found a seat. |
"Hey January," William positively greeted his coworker friend. The pebble thing though... he didn't quite understand what Harmony was on about. Er? Would anybody even notice if she had an extra bit of rock hanging around her desk? He sure wouldn't. But he WOULD accept some of the hummus. "Yum, food, thanks." He leaned forward and took a carrot stick to scoop up a big chunk of the stuff. It was halfway to his mouth, actually almost touching his lips, when some kid walked in and compared hummus to dirt. Dirt? Is that what their head was feeding them? He paused with his mouth open and blinked as Harmony seemingly backed up the information about dirt. Well what was he to do now? The carrot was basically IN his mouth! He couldn't just put it back! He peeked at January out of the corner of his eye. Was she eating any hum--- oh, no. Hmm. Okay. Well, he'd just have to test it out. And if it tasted like dirt, he could grab a napkin and subtly spit it out. Later. When someone else would be talking over the sounds of his retching. Yep. William went it for it and crunched right through that carrot and hummus. "Mmmm delicious," he remarked loudly, with a pointed glance in the humus girl's direction. "You should try some, January," Willy continued, going in for a celery stick and some hummus now. He did give a nod of greeting to the other employee who walked in though. No harm in being polite |
Katalin sat down as she saw another employee nodding to her so she politely nodded back, she found it strange to be back at the ministry as she left four years ago after her husband died because of all the memories they had together. |
Oh good, Katalin was here. She recognized the woman from around the office and gave her a smile. "Hello, thank you for coming." And it was getting quite late so despite the fact that Harmony understood internal clocks could differ from what the actual time was, she needed to move along the meeting so her employees could get back to work. Ahem. "Alright, we should get started." Nodnod. "My name is Harmony Delilah Skylark and I am your department head. I graduated from the Wizarding University in Salem after studying Cryptozoology, Magizoology, and Wizarding Communications. From there I spent some time traveling and getting hands-on experience before returning to Salem to head the Office of Care and Control of Magical Creatures." Mhm. "When I heard that there was an opportunity to come and work here in the Ministry of Magic, I couldn't pass up the chance and so now I'm here with you all. I'm looking forward to helping this department thrive." Were they tired of hearing her talk yet? The red head glanced around to make sure no one had dozed off before picking up the talking stick she'd created. "Now this is a talking stick." And she held it up for all to see. "I find that these can be helpful and give everyone an opportunity to speak freely without fear of being interrupted. I would like to pass this around and when it is your turn with the stick, please tell us a little bit about yourself." Did they understand? "When we're done with introductions, we'll move on to some brief news about the department and then you'll be free to go." ... "Oh! And feel free to continue snacking as we move on." Because she sure would be. And with all that said, she passed the talking stick to her right. |
She felt disheveled today, not only was Laurel just recently getting over a very nasty case of the sniffles, she was apparently running late for a meeting with her Department as well. SO you could only imagine where the 26 year old's stress level was now at this point. Been working here for 4 years now & she still feels like it's her first year here! Running onto her level as fast her heels would allow her to, she made a quick stop by her working area to drop off her things. Laurel then took a moment to take a breath & fix her hair really quickly as she made her way towards the conference room. Where the meeting was being held, that she knew had already begun. Laurel had just entered the conference room as the new head of her department had just finished speaking. Her eyes widened quickly but she quickly put on her most apologetic smile she could as she said softly, "Good Morning..Terribly sorry.." Quickly making a bee line for an open seat, the blonde sat down, although still feeling her heartbeat racing. |
Ah yes, a latecomer. She'd expected a few of those so she remained quite passive as the woman slipped into a seat, seemingly flustered. "Since you're just now joining us, why don't you start us off by telling us a little about yourself." And Harmony handed Laurel the talking stick, looking at her expectantly. She then dipped another carrot stick into the hummus and waited. She was perfectly content hanging out in the conference room like this but she suspected the employees were anxious to get their assignments and as soon as introductions were done, they could do just that. OOC: Just RP your charrie getting the talking stick, introducing themselves the way Harmony did. Then we can move this thing along! |
I'LL GO 1ST. I'm actually eating carrots and hummus right now. 10/10 would recommend. Weeell, since no one was going... January took the stick and set it on the table in front of her. Because she felt strange holding it. "Well, I'm January Pennifold. I am a Spectre Control agent. I attended Wizarding University in Edinburgh and studied Magizoology for a couple years before transferring to the University in Naples, Italy. There I studied Spirits quite in depth and did an internship with the Italian Ministry of Magic. After I graduated, I was officially hired to be the Italian Ministry's Spirit Liaison and then was promoted to be the leader of Spectre Control. I absolutely loved it there, but due to personal reasons, I chose to move back to London, closer to family and such. I saw the job opening, and... here I am." Hopefully she didn't speak too much. And hopefully she wasn't too boring. With the end of her little spiel, January passed the talking stick over to the next person. |
Wellp. Willy's sitting next to January. That makes me second. :D The Skylark was eating the hummus and dip too, so that probably meant it was delicious and he was going to get brownie points for eating it. Ha! William grabbed a few more carrot and celery sticks and loaded them up too. Fooooooood. Food was good. He tried to munch more quietly when January introduced herself, since she was sitting right next to him. And as soon as she was done, he swallowed the lump of hummus in his throat and picked up the talking stick from "Hi. I'm William.....Walter Williamson. I'm 35, I love food of all kinds, long walks on sandy beaches, and my cruppy named Jack." He grinned around at everyone at the table. That was a joke, see, hopefully they would laugh and not be so awkward now. "In all seriousness, I'm a dragon enthusiast and have been all my life. I'm a Senior Dragon Researcher here now, but before that I worked at the Romanian Dragon Sanctuary, taught at Hogwarts, and studied Cryptozoology and Communications at WU in Edinburgh." It almost hurt his heart not to mention his dragon, Roro, but he didn't want people to think he was nutters on the first day. So with a nod, he passed the stick on to the next person. |
Laurel's face became a bit flustered once again as the head of the Department had nominated her to speak. She practically froze in her seat as she sit there, not moving right away to speak. Did she really have to go first? I mean, she just got there, you know? Couldn't she just relax for a moment? Take a breath? Probably enjoy the hummus...which come to think of it, Laurel had never tried hummus, BUT she has heard many, MANY great things about this stuff called hummus. But all thoughts of the hummus were cleared from her mind, when someone else had gotten up to speak instead of her. Thank goodness. At least she could relax for a moment. ... So far she learned of two new faces, January Pennfiold & William Walter Williamson. They seemed like quite the interest set of characters, especially that William person who just coincidentally had three W's for his initials! How fun was that?! She even found herself restraining to cheer for January Pennifold, who happened to work in the same area of study as Laurel & they attended the same University! After hearing the both of them speak, it made Laurel rather eager to speak next. But lets just say that she hadn't meant to snatch up the talking stick, she was more so anxious to? It could definitely be shown when the blonde stood from her chair & smiled brightly towards everyone. With an eager wave she spoke to everyone in the room, "Good morning everyone! So, my name's Laurel. Laurel Bellefleur..Like Miss Pennifold, I also work in the Spirit Division. I'm the Senior Spirit Relocation Officer. I won't lie, in my teen years, I hadn't really seen myself working here, especially for...four years now in the Ministry..But lets just say that I absolutely LOVE this job, it's honestly really great.." She chucked a little bit before going on, "But a little bit more about myself, I have 5 dogs that I spoil rotten! So you can probably guess that I am a HUGE animal lover! Hmm..I received my degree in Magizoology after I had attended the Wizarding University in Edinburgh! ...And...I think that might be..I'm always up to more questions if any of you are curious!" Laurels smiled brightly before sitting down once again, passing the stick to her left. |
We'll pretend this is PRE-mutant breakout Yes, good, they were speaking about themselves. Harmony gave all her attention to each member of the group as soon as they received the talking stick, occasionally breaking eye contact to indulge in another round of carroty-hummus goodness. So far so good and no one was interrupting anyone else which she was pleased about. Thumbs up, people. After everyone had had their turn, the red head made grabby hands for the talking stick and waited until she was handed the tool before addressing the group. "Now I just have a few announcements. First off, we've been keeping an unidentified creature in our holding room and the Accidents and Catastrophes team has been working hard on identifying the little guy. We are to handle it with extreme caution until further notice and I'd appreciate your cooperation with our friends from level 3. Please make them feel at home as you'll probably be seeing them around here often. Secondly, the cleanliness of the albino bloodhound kennels has been less than ideal lately. The creatures we keep here deserve the utmost care and respect so I expect that this situation will be dealt with in a timely fashion. I will also be implementing an after-work yoga club for those interested in relaxing their minds and bodies after stressful days in the office so please see me if you are interested." Was that all for now? "Does anyone have any questions before I hand out your new assignments?" |
