Bottle Bowler
|
Teddy A certain blond haired middle aged creatures department head made her way over to the Bottle bowler booth. Aurora had let her kids go off together to check out the magical bumper cars and whatever floated their interests. She had told them to meet her at the food stand at noon for lunch before they went to buy some school supplies. Her kids grew too quickly. Both of them had grown several inches over what felt like just a week and need what it felt like whole new wardrobes. Anyway bowling, Aurora was here to bowl and have some fun. She hadn't bowled in ages. Choosing a lane she picked up a bowling ball and then just stared at the bottles and vials. Was she supposed to hit them with her ball just like regular pins? Shaking her head slightly confused Aurora still swung her arm and released her ball towards the bottles and vials only manging to hit one bottle down..Mumbling to herself as she picked up a new ball she said to herself "At least the ball didn't go straight down in the hole without hitting one vial or bottle." So that was something right? |
sweet!pink!pixie! It was GREAT to be back in Diagon Alley. Jina Morin lifted her sunglasses and smiled. The cobblestoned alley and its inhabitants were as welcoming as ever, and the colourful additions for this summer doubled the warm fuzzy feeling in her that resembled effects of the Cheering Charm. It was unexpected, but awfully nice, of her former classmate Eiji to invite her to the celebration. If it wasn’t for him, she would have been completely unaware of the festival. Due to her uni work and internship in Canada, she had not been able to catch up with news in Wizarding Britain. The former Ravenclaw immediately replied with a date and place they could meet, and arranged to travel to London for the weekend. Jina’s smile widened when she approached the end of the street she mentioned in her letter, and saw a bowling alley that seemed to use potion bottles as pins. How creative! She observed other people’s attempts at bottle bowling while she waited for Eiji beside the lanes. |

The golden light floated down the lane until it was over Aurora's head, whereupon it turned into a single, large golden daffodil and drifted gently down onto her head. |

"Pitiful attempt," commented the Ball. "I'm right ashamed to ha' been a part of that, I am." |
Text Cut: Pretty Eyes*_* "You need to follow through more," Teddy said with a big smile. How long had he been there? Long enough to enjoy something on Aurora that wasn't her pretty eyes. He mimed what he mean, swinging his arm wildly. "That's they always say right? Follow through..." He remembered something about shaking hands with the headpin, but there really wasn't a headpin here. More like a - headbottle? HA! that sounded really funny. And he'd heard it before in other sports too. Shooting a basketball, hitting a baseball...even when throwing a (American) football. Text Cut: action He watched as a golden light flashed and then circled around Aurora only to suddenly turn into a giant daffodil hat. He laughed. "That suits you." Inviting himself to join her, he moved a little closer and adjusted the flower on her head with an intimacy that implied they had done more then go one one or two dates - which was, sadly, all he had been able to get Aurora to commit to. And then the head was back."Hush you," he told the head as he picked it up and gave it a toss up and down twice. He handed her the shrunken head. "Go on, show me how it's done," he encouraged with a twinkle in his eye. |

But meeting to spend a day together at a festival playing carnival games? Not on his radar. Playing with the pendent (self crafted from some failed alloys in his eastern alchemy studies at university in Kyoto), Eiji had come today with his little sister...but she had already darted off to be with her boyfriend and that left Eiji looking around for Missa who ought to be on security patrols. His thumb ran along the seam of his tanktop as he approached the booth (the phials and explosions had drawn his attention to the brewing possibilities and it possibly being a game he could win at) and unknowingly came up beside Jina. Clicking his tongue in mild disappointment, and scrutinizing the shrunken heads for their sheer existence, the former Slytherin was just about to turn and leave when he noticed her. "...Jina?" Wasn't she supposed to be all the way across the pond? |
lovely lissy 'n awesomesauce adam Summer was easy. That's why it was Kinsays favorite. As long as the sky was full of sunshine, she was too. See? Easy. And because she had only just arrived, she still had LOTS of expendable energy (which would, in all likelihood, deplete itself in an hour or so). But for now, she was feeling good and energetic and ready to shop and and and. Was that bowling? She couldn't be entirely sure that her ears weren't deceiving her, so she just had to check it out for herself. A whole explorer. Incoming Kizzy at full speed ahead! Watch out, Diagon Alley. She's as curious as a kneazle (and as incessant as one too)! |
Text Cut: I've missed him! :3 Jina Morin, aka Eiji Rasting's tolerable friend-acquaintance aka Queen of Miscommunication About To Be Disappointed, turned around to see her friend (yes, friend!) standing beside her. "Oh, hey!" she folded her sunglasses and slid them in her drawstring bag. "Okay so I checked out the booths on my way here and I think we can start here at bottle bowling, then go design a commemorative coin or t-shirt or something which I guess we'll finish around noon, so we can grab a bite to eat at the food stands aaaaand go our separate ways after that." Spending a day with Eiji at a festival was not on Jina's radar either. She assumed they would only be hanging out for half a day - so that they could both meet other people afterwards! "Unless you're against breaking potion vials?" she looked up curiously. |
SPOILER!!: Teddy + other action 'You need to follow through more.' Hearing that voice Aurora whipped around with surprise and happiness glowing in her eyes to see Teddy standing there with a big smile on his face. Blushing Aurora explained. "I haven't bowled in years." It was then when she was at best debating whether or not to rush over for a welcoming kiss, that a large golden daffodil landed like a hat on her head. Next minute Teddy came over and adjusted the daffodil on her head, surprised Aurora took the opportunity to lean in closer, ignoring the cautioning voice in her head and kissed Teddy on the lips. "Hi Teddy," she mumbled as she took one small step back. "Have things been good since our last date?" Aurora wondered as the shrunken head came rolling back down the lane calling her pitiful. She smiled as Teddy chivalrously hushed the ball. Accepting the ball from Teddy she smiled sweetly "I'll give it a try," then she turned toward the lane and with determination in her eyes Aurora swung the shrunken head back back and the forwards, releasing it with force and watched it roll towards the bottles and vials. This time she managed to knock over 4 bottles and 1 vial. Turning to Teddy she asked "How did I do? Was it better?" |

He was standing...well, ok, he was kind of inconveniently standing in the middle of the crowd, staring in to space and trying to figure out what to do next when he felt someone bump in to him in their haste to get past him. Luckily he recognized the hair and grinned as she zoomed past. "Kinsay! Where are you going in such a hurry?" he asked with a small chuckle. |

SPOILER!!: Kinsay and Adam Barty Belcher adjusted the multi-colored plaid robes he had donned for this special occasion and perked his ears up at the sound of potential customers. A couple of kids, but, tickets were tickets, so he stepped over toward them. "Fancy a few rounds of bowling, kids? Get your tickets here. After all, it's all for a good cause." Which was rather a pity, all these profits coming in and not going into his pocket. But, he consoled himself, he was making up for it in good will, which would eventually translate itself into more business. He hoped. |
SPOILER!!: Adam Unluck & Barty Not Crouch! If Kinsay had seen Adam, she would have stopped. Probably. And even if she wouldn't have stopped, she definitely would've at least said hello. It'd be rude not to, Adam was her friend, and James' are incessantly polite. Except she hadn't seen Adam at first, not until she heard him call her name. Spinning around, she offered him a small smile as she tried to hide her embarrassment. "Adam!" She felt a liiiiittle bit silly for running now. Just a liiiiittle bit. Did he know? "I think there's bowling, hurry!" But she didn't wait for his reply before grabbing his arm and pulling him along with her. Oops. Did you know that a Kizzy in motion will stay in motion, unless acted upon by an adult? Because she didn't stop until the man in multi-colored plaid popped up. O___________O At which point, all color drained from Kinsay's face. Um. Despite having heard his question, Kins went silent, making herself all small. Um. She stepped closer to Adam, hoping that he'd talk to the stranger instead. He was good with people, Kinsay knew. Plus, she was feeling all to shy now. |

"Yeah, we like to bowl! It's not too expensive is it?" he asked. |
Text Cut: Pretty Eyes The kiss was a surprise. A welcomed surprise, but still a surprise. "Things have been good." He was still looking for a job, but he thought he had a lead on something that could pan out. "I found an apartment." Because yes, he had decided after that first date with Aurora to stay in the UK. He took a step back as Aurora took another go at the bottles/vials. She was cute when she focused like that. In fact, he was pretty sure he could watch her focus (and bowl) like that all afternoon and not get bored. Text Cut: Chronicler As the sparking lights and bells and whistles went off, Teddy clapped. "Much better! I doubt I could do better," he said with a laugh. "I think your cute little nose wrinkle really helped. Very intimidating." He felt a slight stiffening in his ankle, but tried to ignore it. He was teasing, he mentally told the curse that affected him, not lying. There was a big difference. He shuffled forward, the slightest limp in his step as he retrieved a shrunken head. It tried to bite him and he gave it a small shake. "Shall I try? Do I get another kiss if I beat you?" After receiving her answer he stepped up to the lane and bowled the head. it bounced down the lane looking very much like it would hit the head bottle, but at the last minute spun and only took out three bottles. |

"Not very expensive at all," he replied to Adam, "Just ten sickles a game. And of course, it's all for charity," Barty added, smiling his most ingratiating smile at both children. Which was a rather disturbing sight in its way. |

Instead of speaking to him directly, she kept her attention on Adam. "Want to split it?" Between the two of them, she was sure they'd be able to come up with ten sickles. Maybe. She for sure had three in her pockets, maybe five exactly. |
Misaaaaaa <3 For someone who apparently wanted to spend time with him, Olivier's dad was doing a poor job of showing it. He was only in England for a week and a bit over the summer, and so far he'd been pretty much left to do whatever he wanted whilst his dad worked. And, in all honestly, the boy was pretty miffed. Fine, it was great to be trusted and let loose alone, but he hadn't seen his father for over a year! A year of letters and promises, and the fifteen year old was wishing he'd never come for a visit. Okay, so maybe not quite wishing that. After all, being in the UK was the perfect opportunity to spend more time with Misa, and with Florrie being away (Merlin knew what was going on with his sister and Misa, but Olivier was doing his best not to ask) it meant that he didn't feel like the annoying little brother trying to force himself into a friendship. Not that he was forcing!! He'd known Misa longer, after all!! Just because he didn't go to school with her didn't mean they weren't friends!! And he was FINE with being friends. Absolutely fInE FiNe FINEEEE. And so he was meeting her here, at this cool little festival to do some bowling. Because that's what friends did. |

Smiling sunnily over her shoulder at Teddy she said "I thought it was my intimidating stare, but I'll take whatever makes the bottles and vials fall." A nose wrinkle didn't work when you had to take command in a job crisis though. Laughing Aurora gestured "Try and see!" as she watched Teddy limp a little on his way to throw the shrunken head down their lane. He hit down three bottles. Clapping her hands she called "Not bad, Teddy! Now it's my turn..."Picking up a new shrunken head ball Aurora walked past Teddy and gave him a peck on the cheek before she took her position in front of the lane. Aiming, she concentrated and threw the ball and watched as it rolled down towards the vials and bottles. This time she made 5 bottles and 3 vials fall.. A success... |

She spotted him and immediately went over to give the guy a huuuge hug. She missed him, okay? "Hey, you. Ready for this?" she asked looping her arm through his and dragging him closer toward the bowling. "Fair warning, I'm a terrible bowler." |
Teddy and Aurora Quote:
"Ha Ha!" sneered one of the Shrunken Heads in the line of balls waiting to be bowled. "Maybe if you were thinking more about the game and less about the lady, you might do better." Quote:

Text Cut: Aurora and the Chronicler "Ahh...no." Teddy couldn't afford an apartment closer to where she lived. Maybe once he got a job, but living off his savings and severance pay? Yeah no..."But it's not too far away." That was a least the truth. He thought it was maybe a 15 minute walk? (In actuality it was probably more like 30.) As for the job, well… ”No… I think I have a lead on a job. I’ve – well I’m – I don’t think I could go back to work for a Ministry again.” He limped back towards her and gave her a quick kiss. He picked up the head which was busy taunting him. He held it up to eye level. It’s eyes were stitched shut. ”Yes, well, if you could see her, you’d be a bit preoccupied too buddy.” He then winked at Aurora and bowled for his spare. He knocked down 3 more bottles, but didn’t hit any vials. Aurora on the other hand, seemed to be a natural at this. As the peacocks appeared he clapped proudly. ”Very good!” he said honestly. He wasn’t the type of man to get upset when the person he liked was doing better then him. Nope he was a big ol’ cheerleader. |
For Stella! Oceanus hadn't known what it felt like to be this tired until just recently. Nothing had prepared Stella and him for life with twins than having them. Not even taking his OWLs or NEWTs several years prior seemed to quite compare. It was a tiredness like he had never felt before and he knew deep down that the girlfriend had to be feeling it too, if not worse than him. He didn't complain though and helped out with everything. Not that he hadn't before but now he stepped things up a few notches, trying to make things easier for Stella. Today was little Caspian and Astrid's first big outing. They wouldn't remember it at all and so far had slept through some of it. With the babies all snug in their double carriage and protected from the sun, Ocean felt that it would be okay to stop for a moment and try one of the games. "How about a round of bowling, Star? We can keep the carriage at our side so we know they're safe?" He knew she would want the babies beside them both at all times, as would he. |

Today was their first outing together as their little family, and Stella was one proud mama lioness showing off their beautiful twins. They were snuggled and dressed adorably in their double carriage and protected from the sun and sleeping peacefully through everything. "Ooh... sounds like fun, I haven't done this in a long time so probably will suck at it, but it's all fun." It was all good and fun, that was what today was all about after all, they might be parents now but they deserved to have fun. |
Oceanus and Stella Seemingly out of nowhere a wizard in garish plaid robes appeared before them, holding out a wad of brightly colored tickets in his hand. "Care for a spot of bowling, then?" he said in an overly polite voice. "Fun for the whole family, here, and besides," he smiled, "it's for charity!" |
SPOILER!!: Chronicler & Teddy "It's fine," Aurora reassured Teddy. That he lived near her, in the same part of London was better than when they had lived in different towns and countries. "At least now we live in the same town, we didn't do that before." They could always apparate or floo if they didn't have the legs for the walk from him to her. She knew that it took at least 30 minutes or so..."Oh, okay."[/b] Aurora nodded in understanding. She knew why Teddy wouldn't want to go back to the ministry. "I erm, If the job lead doesn't pan out let me know and I can see if one of my colleagues knowes of any open jobs for places and companies that doesn't work directly for the ministry." Aurora had connections so if Teddy wanted to then she'd use them, but only with his okay. Aurora smiled lovingly as she heard Teddy talk to the shrunken head. Yes, she was a beautiful and successful woman, apparently even the bowling lane thought so as two pretty peacocks flew up from the ball debris with a banner congratulating her on a job well done. Spinning around to face Teddy she grinned "Thanks darling!" Before she picked up a new ball she stopped to give Teddy a quick kiss. "Is your leg acting up again?" Aurora asked sympathetically. She had seen him limping. Grabbing a new ball she went to the lane and aimed and threw the ball. Aurora hoped for a strike, but instead the ball swerved to the side and didn't hit any bottles or vials at all. |

SPOILER!!: you are too kind :3 he is a buttmunch *squishes Jina* What...was she... Despite his cool and collected appearance, on the inside Eiji was every shade of confused which only turned into agitation as he loathed being confused. Especially about his own commitments...or rather ones he had no idea he had actually agreed to. The confidence in which she spoke, as though this had been planned for months, was sending the former Slytherin into a tailspin because WHEN had they discussed meeting up at this festival? He was beginning to wonder if the ventilation he had constructed in his small apartment was not as thorough as he had designed, perhaps he needed to readminister a few enchantments once he returned to Japan, and the fumes from his alchemy experiments was starting to warp his brain a bit. Wouldn't be all that surprising ... and was also why he was not considering a career in the Department of Mysteries. He knew what toll the presence of experimental magic could take. His face neutral, Eiji merely slow blinked as Jina continued to ramble. "...right," he nodded skeptically while his jaw set slightly and his brow knit. Part of him wanted to point out that he had had no intention of running into her today, let alone spend half a day with her, but something made him hold his tongue. Perhaps it was the desire not to cause a scene. Was Jina a crier like Nina? He really did not fancy finding out. "I don't really want to have a t-shirt. Maybe you should do that once we've parted ways." He paused, eyeing the stand again and the potential prizes while weighing the pros and cons of his athletic ability. There was no accounting for physics when it came to using heads to bowl, and Eiji was not entirely one to leave things in the hands of luck. And also...yes...breaking potion vials seemed like a waste to him, but then he figured these were special ones designed to break more easily and therefore they would be flimsy for normal use anyway. "Nah, no qualms," he shook his head while glancing at the shrunken heads again. "...as long as I am not supposed to stick my fingers in their nostrils." Like the three holes in a bowling ball. |
Text Cut: Pretty Eyes He gave her a big smile. "If it doesn't pan out, I will gladly take the help." Only, he hoped he didn't need to. He was an adult and needed to stand on his own two feet. Especially if he was going to stay here. But he wasn't above asking for help. "But I think this Charmist lead will work out." It was going to be very different work from what he did for MACUSA, but that might be a good thing. He was starting over after all and if he didn't like it, well, he could keep looking. "Hmm? It is..." he gave his foot a shake. "It'll likely go away in a few minutes." He shrugged it off. He leaned down to get one of the shrunken heads, when he straightened. He found Aurora there with a kiss. He laughed and smiled. He liked this new affectionate Aurora. It was different. His last girlfriend hadn't been the affectionate type and well, the PDA fight Aurora. "Awww... you'll get 'em next time." He told her as she missed. Then stepping up, he hurled the head down the alley, taking out five bottles and a vile. "You know, bowling is a lot easier with muggle bowling balls." |
Teddy with Aurora Quote:
Down at the other end of the alley, a series of fireworks burst up from the downed bottles and vial, exploding overhead in a shower of glitter. |
Quote:
"I haven't played since I was a kid either but that's the point. Let's have a good time and enjoy it, laugh at how horrible we both play," he grinned at Stella. Yes they were parents now and he took that job extremely seriously but he was also still a young man that could have a little fun sometimes. Today that simple fun would come in the form of bottle bowling. Quote:
Oceanus blinked in confusion and surprise. Where had he come from?! He was sure the man hadn't been there seconds earlier. Whatever. That didn't matter now. He grinned. "I think we will have a go. Just the two of us." The little ones in the double stroller were much too young for anything here as they were still only newborns. |

Eiji/Jina hehehehehe Missa Renaldi loved being a YATI, and couldn't wait to be an official Auror. There was no hiding it, there was no denying it - so much so that even the menial tasks didn't bother her, so much so that she had been slacking at university - no matter how much she tried to do better. So naturally she had been totally okay with patrolling the celebration at Diagon Alley. Although it all looked harmless, she knew why they had to be cautious - the entire fiasco with the Neo-Alliance had left everyone scarred after all. With that in mind, she made the necessary checks here and there and walked along the street - totally envious of some of these kids having so much fun. .....but she didn't really realise what envy could mean until her eyes fell on a pair not that far from her. Uncomfortable, and immediately irritated, Missa tried to reason what this might be about but .... it was incredibly hard to just look at it for what it was; her boyfriend was just hanging out with an old school mate. Part of her wanted to stomp her way over and interrupt the cosy little date of theirs - but part of her was rational enough to stop herself. Annoyed beyond belief, she instead forced herself to look away. Because no, just no. Deliberately looking for anything else for distraction then, she walked away. |
mention of Missa Barty Belcher glanced up from counting the afternoon proceeds in time to observe the young witch look at that couple that had come by earlier and then abruptly turn away and take off. Uh oh. Trouble there, that is. Oh well, none of his business. Turning back to his counting, he made a final notation in the ledger. Not a bad haul, if he did say so. Too bad none of the profits were his. All this charitable activity had better translate into improving his business--he'd hardly had time to tend to the Shrunken Heads Bowling Alley, he'd been so busy with this celebration, and business had been few and far between as a result. And now the summer was over, so no more students. Barty could only hope that more people would start coming in once the distraction of the celebration was over. |
