Violet surveyed her compartment companions--Merlin, Mamie looked exhausted! Well--Violet supposed she did, too. At least her hair was combed properly, now that she had access to her mirror and proper lighting. "It's been one, long year, hasn't it?" she replied to the younger girl. "Sorry to bother you, go back to sleep if you like."

Violet gave a polite smile back to the first year--well, not a first year for much longer-- Kaira, who'd entered the compartment just ahead of her. Heavens, imagine this past year having been your first year at Hogwarts! Violet wasn't in the mood to socialize, but felt she ought to make an effort for this girl. "How are you doing? Crazy first year, huh?" she said in what she hoped was a reasonably friendly manner--Violet could never quite tell.
