Isla started to whisper to her group that she really, really didn't want to see a second creature die right in her face. She knew it was all a part of life, but at the same time, her emotions were already high because of the Jobberknoll. She decided not to say anything, though, because as the baby of the group, she didn't want to say something to make her look even more babyish. Besides, nobody ever said the phoenixes were actually going to meet their end today, so hopefully she was just overly worried about nothing.

She moved her focus to the wooden box Claudine had taken for their group. So they were going to feed their phoenix the golden leaf? Well, that sounded cool! The first year slipped on her dragonhide gloves, eager to do something with a creature other than watch it die. On the count of three, the birds were realized, causing Isla to watch with wonder as they made their way around. "That's amazing," she half-whispered. Sure, she was a pureblood, but even purebloods didn't get to see something like this all the time.

She followed Claudine over to a bale of hay, assuming the older students would follow suit. She was too busy watching the birds to notice. Taking her eyes off them for a minute, she looked at the wooden box, where all the supplies were. Even though she had her gloves on, she didn't want to go first. She'd let one of the older ones, Claudine even, show her how it was done.
