| | | Dumbledore 'really is dead' says J.K. Rowling
On the second night of 'An Evening with Harry, Carrie and Garp', J.K. Rowling answered some more questions from fans after reading the same passage from the night before. Members of Mugglenet were in attendence and have provided an outline of topics covered, including: Quote:
There's more to Aunt Petunia than meets the eye, and we'll find out what's unique about her in book seven.
Quote:
Dumbledore IS really dead. "Everyone needs to move through the 5 stages of grief" and get past his death. She also apologizes to DumbledoreIsNotDead.com for ruining the purpose of their site.
Quote:
While taking a shower before the reading today, Jo said that she had come up with a different title for book seven that would work better than her current title. No word on which title will be used, though.
Quote:
Moderator Soledad O'Brien asked the three authors who from their books they'd invite to dinner. Stephen immediately said he'd invite Harry and Hermione.
While Jo is listing the characters who she'd invite to dinner, she names the trio but then pauses. The crowd begins to shout out other characters, but Jo responds, "I'm the only one who knows who lives through the series," accidentally implying that she could only list characters who make it through the final book. Her final two choices (after realizing what she said) were Dumbledore and Hagrid.
You may find the complete list herewith a further report here.
Thanks to Mugglenet for the info! |

Somehow I always knew there was more to Aunt Petunia than her obsession over cleanliness and horsey teeth, but that theory about her being a squib is getting a bit old. But who knows, she could be.

I guess she indicates, the trio will Survive! If it's like that HP fans will be Happy! But I Really worry about the fate of Sirius who disappeared behind the veil!
Whatever it is, overall a great interview!!

| The REAL Sorting Hat: "Ravenclaw!" This monkey is bananas.
What? Did she just imply that Hagrid might be one to...no I can't say the word. And I always knew there was something more about Petunia, and sadly I knew DD was really gone. But great interview though!
*breaks into tears*

That's quite sad as I thought Dumbledore could not be dead. It's interesting about the Petunia part as I always thought how come she remembered about the Dementors and she obviously therefore quite important somehow.

Hogwarts RPG Name: marie | nooooooooooo! dumbledore can't be dead. i mean look at all the evidence we have to support that his is still alive. well even if he is dead he could still come back in many ways, we have a lot of evidence for this too. JK has just landed herself in it really by saying that hagrid and dumbledore would be invited to dinner with her so he must still live after the series ends. |

I knew that DD was dead. People said after the OOTP that Sirius would come back but that was not the case. WOW!! Jo pausing after saying the trio's name. I hope Ron doesnt die.

Hi, I went to the second night (as well as the first night, but this post is about the second), and there was a question asked by author Salman Rushdie about whether Snape was good or bad, where he discussed how Jo had written him out (first as a not-a-nice-guy but still a good guy, but then ends up killing Dumbledore and is evil), and mentions that there is the theory that Snape and Dumbledore could have planned the entire 'death' and that Dumbledore really isn't dead and that Snape is still good.
Jo couldn't go into detail about Snape's true alliance, for obvious reasons, but did say that Salman's theory was correct and that Dumbledore was definitely dead (which she pointed out about three different times during the questioning session), so you can interpret that as you will.

At least that's one bit of info that has put me out of my misery, but now knowing that Dumbledore is really dead fills me with sadness because I was always hoping that he was alive. I had an idea that thee were more to Aunt Petunia but what I don't know!! |
