| | | UPDATED: Video of JKR signing a copy of HBP
J.K.Rowling will donate the first signed copy of 'Half-Blood Prince' to the National Library of Scotland in Edinburgh.
Martyn Wade, its National Librarian, said he was especially delighted with the donation as library is very close to where JK wrote Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.
Source: CBBC Newsround UPDATE: Bloomsbury have now announced the news, further quoting Martyn Wade. Quote:
"We look forward to welcoming the many children — and adults — who will want to come to the National Library of Scotland and see this unique book."
They've also quoted Jason Cockcroft, the UK illustrator for HBP, who talks about the new artwork in a video interview. Quote:
"On the front cover, I think that I’ve made Harry and Dumbledore look scared enough for whatever terror is approaching. I’m proud of it as I think it’s my best work to date and, like everyone else, I’m looking forward to reading the book on 16th July and finding out how the images I have drawn fit into the story."
The video interview with Jason can be viewed here. The same page also features a video of J.K.Rowling signing the copy of HBP for the library and a video showing varying HBP adverts including those found on London buses.

That's really great! I mean Edinburgh has become her place of inspiriation and her refuge now, so I guess she also owes it a lot.

That's really nice of her to do that being that she wrote some of Harry Potter there.

Good. That'll help a lot of people...like me for instance, who've been reading the books by borrowing them from the library...though I desperately wish I could own atleat one of the books in the series

I can't imagine how many kids will go to that library just to see the signed copy, lol. Are people allowed to take it out? Cause it would probably be stolen, although I don't know, not all people would be mean and take it.

^ True. There'll probably be incumbents who are willing to get their hands on a signed copy and keep it for themselves. Or the book could become a victim of book abuse. |

It's cool that she donated it to the Scottish Library. It's cool the first one won't be stuck in some personal library but where normal people can see it. The fact it is close to the cafe where she wrote PS / SS is super too. No doubt the lady has class.

Anyway, that was a really nice gesture on JKR's part. Great lady.

Not that I was expecting her to look any less of course but wow, she looked amazing. I got the feeling that she was getting rather nostalgic. She was grinning but at the same time it looked like she might cry.
