The Military magazine 'Preventive Maintenance Monthly' printed in May 2004, initially ran a feature-length spoof which some say, was on Harry Potter.
As a result, lawyers for JK & WB started investigating a possible breach of copyright.
After discussions between the Army's lawyers and Rowling's representatives, Williams (spokeswoman for the Army Materiel Command) said, "We are not going to use the likeness of 'Harry Potter' characters again."
This development is interesting as they were previously quoted as saying;

Hahahaha! I remember commenting that trying to deny the resemblances was pretty hard to do... I mean, Snappy, Longshanks? (I don't remember the rest) And that sooo looked like a caricature of Alan Rickman...Come on!
It is silly but its funny! Professor Snappy! Ha! And Ranger instead of granger! I wonder what they had for err Weasley and potter. Maybe for potter it would be Otter!! LOL

It was Trotter for Potter.
We weren't saying the names were silly, we were saying the editors were silly for denying that the characters bore any resenblance to the ones from Potter as, aswell as their names, the way they looked, proved they looked almost identical to the HP ones.

They won't do it anymore for fear of legal trouble.
the characters + names were very similar, but im not sure what i feel about them not doing anymore HP spoofs. maybe relieved so that there wont have to be any more legal matters.
