About 20 meters to the right of the breakfast bar on the still somewhat green grounds that hold the elegant golden leaved autumn trees in the background, the staff have put up 4 identical, enlarged, lush green bushes: one bush for each house.
Each house's students need to work together as a team with the help of their head of house and prefects to transform their assigned bush into their very own house mascot (e.g. an eagle for the Ravenclaws, a badger for the Hufflepuffs, a snake for the Slytherins and a lion for the Gryffindors). Every house needs a mascot for the topiary race that will commence in about an hour's time.
Every student, the staff have assumed, hopefully have brought their wands with them down to the event. To work on transforming the bush you can use the cutting charm 'Diffindo'. If you, by the off chance forgot your wand, (ahem, long stares at you if you did) then Professor Myers has provided a small box of muggle pruning shearers that you can use so you can still help with the mascot creation.
When an hour has passed and all houses have transformed their bushes into a giant bush mascot of their house’s animal, you all head over with the staff to the topiary race track (Don't forget to bring your house mascot!) The track is a big wide circle where the students in X house has to stand apart at intervals like in a relay race to cover the track. Student A in each of the 4 houses will then ride their mascot to student B who will ride it to student C etc until all the mascots have crossed the finish line.
After everyone had had breakfast and... survived it, really, with not too much dirt on them, Botros took off his chef hat and respectfully put it on the breakfast bar as if it was the sorting hat's kin.
"Kids and staff," he called out, clapping his big two hands to gain their attention. "Let's play a game, shall we? We're all fueled now and have some sugar to burn." He beamed and gestured for them to follow him in the direction of the four bushes. "See those four bushes? They're all messy and untamed, our very groundskeeper and Charms professor set them up for you for this game." Botros clapped his hand again.
"Now! We're going to have a competition between all four houses. See that circular field just behind those bushes?" The empty area that had random items thrown on the ground? Yes, that. "We want to see which house has the best teamwork, and which house's mascot is the fastest. Before we do that, each house need to work together to make a topiary of their own house mascot with the help of their Head of House and prefects, of course. Then we'll start the race! Go!" He looked at professor Beatrice to bring him a chair and come sit with him while they watched the kids work on this first task...? Yes? Where was his young friend?

- I distributed everyone who participated in the event to teams, work together and look for your leaders for help. :D If you didn't post in the other thread but want to play here, you can. Just join your house and I'll edit in your name.
- There is no set number of posts in order to finish this activity. However, the more people from your house participate the more realistic it is to finish your mascot quickly.
- The competition starts after you finish creating the topiary, that's in about 48+ hrs from this post.
- Have fun, and don't be afraid to go creative!
- Any questions/concerns can be directed to Deezerz or myself.

With the breakfast being highly amusing with the Niffler and the Bowtruckle, Yoongi ate the last bit of his sandwich and looked at the Headmaster as he took of his chef hat and placed it on the table. Play a game? they were here for a game? Not just breakfast outside? Well, Yoongi was in!
He stood up from the table and followed the Headmaster and the others to four messy and untamed bushes. He had the feeling that he knew what was going to happen. And when the Headmaster explained the activity he knew that his thoughts had been right. He looked at the bushes and then to his fellow Gryffindors. "Teamwork makes the dream work , Lions!" he exclaimed cheerfully. Now where were their Leaders?

Olympia jumped up as soon as she heard the words 'game' and 'race'. YEEES, FINALLY. Skipping towards the rest of the team, she ran her hand through her blonde curls. She was excited. Calming her excited, rapid breathing Olympia bounced on the balls of her feet. She had to remember not to get too competitive.. It was just a game.. It didn't matter who won.. If Gryffindor didn't win it would be totally fine.......
Olympia smirked despite herself, who was she kdding?! HAHAAA YEAH RIGHT, COME OOOON GRYFFFFINDOOOOR

Austin was ready. He had a new pet rock, and food in his belly. This competition was going to be fierce, and they all needed to work together. Which was to be expected. But the Ravenclaws were sure to win. They had the and bird for their mascot! It could easily fly above the other three and swoop into the finish. That was of course everyone would participate. The eager fourth year ran to one of the hedges, hoping everyone else would join him.

He looked around at his House. His precious Puffers and honourary Puffer leaders. They could do this! No question about it! Plus, Topiary stuff was fuuuun! He still remembered making that Superman one for Alec so long ago. He reckoned he could pull up, from his brain, the process required to make one... hopefully. LOL. At that moment, his gaze shifted to Professors Cassie and Beatrice. "Are you guys allowed to join us?'' he wondered to them. They did belong to the House, right? Even if they were Sorted ages ago.
"You guys ready?'' the seventh year, now bouncing on his feet, asked his House but looking at Moxley and Culloden. They were the House leaders, after all. Nothing gets done without their approval. He did lead the way over to one of the bushes, however. He was THAT eager to get started.

It was all over for his little stomach now--or it had been until the little spectacle with the animals that gave him time to just sit there and watch. Now he could actually walk; NOW he could participate in the race!
Blaise hopped up from the table and hurried along behind his housemates. Didn't matter what they were racing, Blaise was all in and ready to go.
The Young Gryffindor looked over at the bushes as the Headmaster spoke. They were gonna make one into a lion then it was going to win. Got it. The little boy looked around curiously. Where were the instruments for them to get these things trimmed down?
"Where are the snippers?" He asked aloud. Surely someone knew. How ELSE would they get these things into the right shape?

At first Olympia didn't even hear the boy's reply as her attention snapped onto a note pad and a quill floating very close to her.. and it appeared to be taking notes. She raised an eyebrow before returning her attention back to him. The blonde shrugged. "It's an odd word.." She commented and repeated it back to herself. "Snippers.. snippers, snippers". Hm. Strange, very strange.
OH. The boy's explanation made total sense. "Ahh, I get it!" She made a motion with her fingers, imitating scissors. "So they're literally used to.. snip" Olympia grinned. Well, now that was cleared up. Olympia then nodded and laughed at the boys offer to show her how they work. "Okay!" She agreed- she would like to see how this Muggle contraption worked but was uncertain if they would be provided with any Muggle equipment, maybe the boy could suggest it to their team leaders. Olympia had never done much gardening; their garden was large enough to do it of course, but her Father had always insisted on hiring someone else to do it. She sighed, shaking her head at the thought.
Suddenly, her attention was brought back to the quill. Olympia turned to look at it a second time. "Erm.. what's this for?"

Leader.... How come he had to be a leader? Well okay, yes he knew he had to be a leader 'cause of the Headboy thing... But the point here was, how coming Sophie Brown wasn't put as one of the Ravenclaw leaders? It was very unfair. Maybe she wanted to take over the Gryffindor thing too? No... Okay. Cool.
Well, Zander hadn't managed to get the caffeine he wanted, which only resulted in not getting as much food as he wanted either because he had spent so much time searching for coffee that he had neglected the food all together. What a great way to start an early morning weekend, right? Wrong. And topiary.
Well, let's just say it's a really good thing that the one thing Zander was actually good at doing in his life time was Herbology. Thank you Headmaster and also thank you Merlin. Because this could've gone terribly. But herbology, that he could do. Thankfully.
So the Gryffindor had positioned himself next to one of the bushes that he was going to claim as their own. It didn't matter as long as each house had one, right? Hopefully. Ahem. "Gryffindors, gather round here!" That would get their attention right? Hopefully. Because this low caffeine thing wasn't helping in the energy department at the moment. Ahem.
And also, he heard the bit about snippers. "Uh, well if we haven't got snippers... At least we've got our wands and those normally do the trick just as well," he tried to be as enthusiastic and GUNG-HO as he could. But uh, again... He didn't have his coffee. But yes, he was looking at Balise and Olympia. Or maybe they did have snippers? He wasn't quite sure. But they did have wands.
So anyways... He waited for the majority of their group to gather before addressing the masses. "There's a charm for trimming, actually" HE KNEW THIS. It's a great thing Beautiful Bentley taught it to them. <3 <3 <3 Aheeeeem. He was of course still trying to Answer Blaise's question, but at this point he decided to go ahead and address the entire lion gang. He figured he'd have to teach some of them sooner or later anyways. "Flip-n-snip-wit-it,"Flipnsnipwitit. Not bad, right? And uh, "You've just got to swish your wand." Preferably at the plant, y'know 'cause that's what you're trying to trim. "And you'd use that for the smaller details, but there's also Diffindo, that's the severing charm," he nodded, hoping they were all following. "Diffindo is a little more drastic... But you can use that for the branches that are too.. in the way and uh, more difficult to work with."

'Cause he could repeat himself... But he'd much rather have the older students chip in and help the younger guys too. That'd be real nice.

Which meant that Dante wanted to win. It was simple. He did not want to lose. So the only other option was to win because really when did you ever wanted a tie unless you were desperate. He was full up on pancakes and bacon. His foot felt fine after Phillip stomped on it. So he was sugared up and ready to go.Still he did not know that spell need for this making a plant thing into a Snake. Sounded awesome. He just did not know how to get it started.
He would just stay quiet until asked to do something.

Where were all of the other Slytherins? How were they supposed to win if there weren't very many to compete? Olly saw A LOT of Gryffindors, and he was not pleased with that fact. He did not want to lose to Gryffindor. Or anyone.

Olly joined the older boy by their assigned bush. They were supposed to make it look like a snake? That seemed easy enough, in theory. A snake was just a squiggly line. Much easier to create than, well, any of the other house animals. Nice. The only problem was actually getting it to look that way. Oliver knew there were probably some simple spells that could help them, but he didn't know any of them. Hopefully Dante would.
"Got any ideas? Isn't there a spell that slices things? So we can cut this bush however we want?"

One eye still on the first years' quill and note pad, she nudged him and turned to face Gryffindor's Head boy. Zander, wasn't it? folding her arms, wand still in-hand, Olympia listened to their instructions. The Gryffindor laughed at the look on the Head Boy's face when he mentioned the snippers. "Aw, that's too bad!" She addressed the first year boy, Olympia had a feeling he had been relying on these snipper things. "I'll help you out." She offered, smiling. Once he was done talking, Olympia noticed a couple of more people arriving. Slytherins. She smirked as she made her way closer to the bush. She loved the fact that the Gryffindor's were so prepared and already getting started.
Spotting a few rouge branches poking out of the Gryffindor's bush, Olympia strode towards them brandishing her wand. "Diffindo!" She muttered; one of the branches fell away easily. Olympia looked around at the Head Boy, were they meant to start orrr? she occupied herself by walking around the Gryffindor bush inspecting it for thicker branches that would need to be discarded in order for the lion to take shape.

Full of food and hyped up on sugar Hady was ready to go. So as the Headmaster set down his chef's hat and began speaking about some sort of competition the small brunette wandered over to get a better view of things.
Standing slightly off to the side with her hazel eyes fixed fully on the large hedge before them she wandered where the rest of their house was. So far all she saw was Dante and Oliver. They'd need more than just the three of them to get this done quickly.
In her mind she was already think over which spells could work for them. They needed to effectively cut through branches and remove leaves shaping the hedge onto a serpent. Could they get started on this or what?

A COMPETITION?
Phillip immediately lit up. This sounded like HIS kind of activity! He wasn't THAT big on plants -- they were just THERE -- and he could just about cast some of the more basic spells but STILL. This was a COMPETITION and he was ALL up for it.
So, the first year darted over towards where the other Slytherin people were. "We HAVE to win this!" Could they tell how pumped he was? Because he was. Pumped. Maybe it had something to do with being full of good food but he just knew that they were GOING to win this. Uh huh! Making a snake out of this hedge wasn't going to be HARD. At least, not according to--

"Is it just the four of us?" And why was it that he always ran into DANTE? Was the older guy following him around?

The girl was getting exactly where he was going with this. Snippers would be crucial for this activity to get done and she was even going to let him help her! HOW OFTEN DID THAT HAPPEN??? Answer: not very. Naturally this made it a huge thing for the kid who's grin only got wider when she asked about his quill.
"Oh, don't mind that. I just like getting stories." Getting stories, making stories; they were all the same to him and he could of course do them on his own skill but he liked the spin the quill was able to make on even the most mundane events. It kept life interesting...for him at least.
"I'm Blaise, by the way." Because he now realized he'd never actually introduced himself to her. The little boy was all set to get into some interesting ideas he could try once he got himself a pair of snippers when the Head Boy happened.
Of course. Of course this bloody competition would need stupid magic to get done. He should have known. He should have stayed in bed. It wasn't like the boy needed the food provided here this morning, he'd already been fed earlier today and there would be lunch in a few hours. Blaise's expression fell drastically, now containing a hint of annoyance as well and there was no coming back, even after his new friend (they were friends now, yes?) offered to help him.
"No." His voice held a little too much conviction even as he spoke. "No, it's stupid. I don't want to learn. I don't have my stupid wand and don't want to try stupid magic." So that was it? All excited about a race and now nothing? He was ready to go back to his Common Room thanks.

So, this is what the breakfast was all about. Offering free food for a topiary race? Well played Botros. Otherwise Hugo doubtly would be here. It didn't mattered now because his stomach was full and he could think clearly.
The boy walked towards everyone else from his house was and it seemed Dante and the other girl (SpiritWolfe_Malfoy) were the older ones. Including him too, yeah. "Five" replied to the firstie. He needed the guidance from the house leaders to do this task. "Let's start. Any suggestions? " because he didn't have a clue on what to do.

Olympia watched as Blaise's face dropped completely as Zander began talking and was suprised by his tone of voice when he spoke again. "What?? Noooo, don't be like that!!!" Olympia pouted. "Don't you dare bail on me! Your wand will work just the same as the snippers!" Oh.. he hadn't brought his wand out with him?? Olympia found this odd. She never went anywhere without hers.. even to the toilet. She looked at him. Maybe he was fibbing. "Why is it stupid?!" Olympia pouted. She liked games and competition so, especially when all the houses were competing against each other. "You don't need to learn anything.. Just try?" Olympia did not know what to say to make Blaise feel better, but she was hoping he would get into the swing of it once they started. "And you can't miss the race!!"
Slightly exasperated, Olympia turned to Zander and her fellow Gryffindors for help. "Where does everyone want to start? What would be best?" She resumed the tapping of her wand, keen to get going.

Ah there were more snakes now. Granted she was still the only girl in her house that had wandered over but five was better then three. Slowly Hady stepped closer to her house mates giving each a small nod in greeting. Even though she hadn't been close to them all she had heard each thing they had said yet not one of them had suggested anything so it was up to her then.
"Diffindo," she commented simply glancing from the group of boys towards the large overgrown hedge. They had learned it back in first or second year in Herbology. It wasn't even that difficult of a spell to learn just so they all kept their focus on what they were doing and how was working where. Both Hugo and Dante should recall having used it before however the two firsties might not know it.
It was for both Oliver and Phillips benefit that Hady then flicked her wrist moving her wand from it's holster and into her hand. Gripping it firmly yet lightly at the same time she showed both younger boys the proper wand movement for the spell. "It's not to hard to do you just need to pay attention and focus when using it. We can start with that to get rid of the larger branches first then the trimming spell to shape it."
When she had finished speaking she glanced at Dante and Hugo to see if they had anything to add to this. Whether it was another suggestion or just something in general.

Walking up to stand next to Hady, she put her last blueberry into her mouth. Mhm. Diffindo sounded good. She couldn't quite believe that she seriously had to take part in an activity now. But oh well. It was a competition. And naturally, Slytherin had to win. They seemed to have a pretty good group too.
Although she would have preferred to have a FEW older students with them too.

Maggie took a few steps towards their bush and eyed it. The top branches were pretty far away. "So where's the head?" She tilted hers in turn to eye the bush. "Top or bottom?" Looking back to the others she gave them an expectant look. "Where does the snake start?" Actually, where DID a snake start? Head or tail? Huh.

They were going to make their own House topiary.
Paulina was actually super excited about this because HELLO, HERBOLOGY. Her favourite subject right there. She didn't care about the competition part, she just wanted to get to work and help make something pretty for Hufflepuff.
OKAY, LET'S GET STARTED.
"I am so ready!" she said in reply to Adi's question as she made her way over to the Hufflepuff bush. This was going to be so awesome.
So... he was going to create a badger out of... bush. With students, of course, but that didn't change the fact that he had to make a topiary thing.
Cosgrach Culloden could create any potion, but he could not even imagine a badger. So, arriving at the site, he walked over to the Hufflepuff area and eyed Adi. Of course any professor could join them. The more, the merrier, no? Though, he would leave that to them and just eye the bush for now.
"Sure," he said, "we're ready."
In the meantime, he would just spy on other houses and see how they did it.

Now THIS is what Moxley was talking about! Some good old fashioned competition between the houses! She was all sugared up thanks to an excess of syrup with a side of pancakes and now she was roaring still love you, Gryffinbabies to go!
Hurrying over to the Hufflepuffs already assembled, the brunette clapped Prefect Rehman on the back and beamed. Alright, you lot! We need to get this bush looking like a badger. Who knows the spell one uses to cut? Because we'll need to trim and shape to create the badger look and we need all hands on deck!"

And the astronomer was not surprised at all that the Head Boy had remembered Seren's words. He ought to write her again just to check in and mention this little fact. The woman always had such kind words to say about her former students. Sometimes too kind, if the man was being honest.
"ALRIGHT GRYFFINDORS! YOU HEARD MR. ADAIR," the man boasted as he strut towards the bush they were to play around with. "Let's make this end here the head," he said, pointing towards the side to his right. "And this end the rear." Removing his wand from his enchanted breast pocket, the professor set to writing a H on the part meant to be the head and a T on the other. "Let's make this topiary scream Gryffindor from H to T, shall we?"
He paused to offer the Head Boy a quick wink before turning towards Miss Abraham and Mr. Bellaire. "You neglected to bring your wand with you?" he asked, eyebrow raised at the first year. Cardinal rule of wizarding, ALWAYS bring your wand! CONSTANT VILIGANCE! Sabel needed to drill that thought into students' heads more. "In that case..." he looked around quickly at the surrounding area. "If you don't mind getting your hands a bit dirty you can just snap some branches off and tear at leaves. You can start here with the tail." Since it was the most straight forward bit really. The astronomer or Head Boy could follow up with a bit of polishing.
Actually....perhaps it would be best for Mr. Adair to do that. He could just supervise and help keep the vision. He gave a nod towards the first year while looking at the seventh year. Hint hint nudge nudge.
"How about you, Miss Abraham, begin working on the mane?" Then an idea struck him. "How are you with conjuration spells?" Or color changing spells, but conjuring flowers for decoration had a bit more of an artistic edge to it and Gryffindors were an edgy bunch.
