Two statues stand out on the fifth floor: Boris the Bewildered and Gregory the Smarmy. Beside Gregory the Smarmy is a roped off section of swamp, left in honor of the famous Weasley twins: Fred and George, founders of the joke shop chain, Weasley Wizard Wheezes.

There was something smelling...funny. And not necessarily in a good way. Naturally, Lewis wanted to find out what exactly that was. Maybe there was something wrong with the plumbing? Okay, maybe he DIDN'T want to find out where the smell came from after all...

Rounding a corner he found himself facing a piece of...roped off section of swamp? Really? IN the castle? Lewis involuntarily wrinkled his nose a little as he stepped a little closer, bending over the rope a little to get a closer look. Yes, it really was a swamp wasn't it?

Huh?!

"I'd be careful if I were you." Taryn spoke softly to the Hufflepuff boy, not wishing to scare him, "Don't get too close or you'll fall in." Hehehe. "Kind of odd though, huh?" Yeah, she didn't get it either. What was this for?

Were there things living in that swamp too? Had there been some movement below the surface?! Squinting down at the swamp, Lewis leaned even closer and was so engrossed in the weird thing that he didn't hear somebody walking up behind him.

He whirled around - still slightly startled just by her sudden appearance - to stare at the girl. "I-" She didn't seem to be mad at him for being that close to the swamp, though, so he relaxed somewhat. Glancing back at the swamp for a second, he nodded slowly. "Yeah. Weird." He agreed softly, looking back at her with a small smile.

"I'm guessing you didn't know this was here, huh?" Which meant he was new, or he didn't venture far from his common room. "It's kind of gross, I think. If I had a castle to decorate, I wouldn't have a swamp in it." FYI.

She was so sure he cared too.

Lewis shook his head in reply with one last glance at the swamp behind him. No, he wouldn't have come here if he had known. Well, yeah, he probably would have. A swamp inside a castle was pretty...unique.

Her next words amused him somewhat and he couldn't help but chuckle. "If I ever have a castle, I'll let you decorate it then." Lewis replied lightly, regarding her for a moment with his head cocked to the side.

Taryn beamed at that response. Hehe. Really? She'd LOVE to decorate a castle! "Thanks!" Even though she knew the chances of either of them actually living in their own castle was slim to none. Sigh.

She cocked her head to the side as well, "What's your name, Hufflepuff boy?" Hehe.

Had his remark actually made her that happy? He just grinned at her in reply to her thanks, though, not saying anything more. Who knew, maybe he DID have a castle one day. And then he would actually have to call her up to decorate it. Not that that would be too bad. ~~He hoped...?~~

It was either her or the whole situation - what with the swamp and all - that made him a little more open and talkative than usual. "Lewis. Hi" He replied taking yet another small step into her direction, before stopping again, looking at her and returning the question. "What's yours then-" Quick glance at her robes. Green. "-Slytherin girl?" Heh.

Hehe. His name was Lewis Hi? She just smiled. She didn't really think that. Nah. "Taryn." That was HER name. "Hi." Hehe. "And I definitely think I need to get away from that thing." She gestured to the swamp and wrinkled her nose.

"Want to walk with me?" She took a step ahead anyway. He could come or not, but he was probably headed in the same direction anyway, right? Their common rooms were both that way.

Lily decided to explore the castle and after checking out a bunch of the various floors she came upon this one. It had been mentioned in Hogwarts, A History so she figured it was worth seeing. So as she reached the swamp, Lily stopped. She turned and went to sit kinda off to the side and pulled out her book.

His head jerked back around to look at her, his eyebrows raised slightly in surprise. "I...err...sure." Lewis finally replied, and without taking his gaze off her walked over to her so he was standing next to her. Where were they going?!

Though, he didn't look TOO much older than her, definitely taller, but who wasn't? She was pretty resigned to the possibility that she was never going to grow. EVER. Sigh.

Lewis noticed when Taryn glanced at him, and immediately looked down at his hands. What was she looking at? She seemed nice so he wasn't too worried but then again, he just didn't like being looked over.

He only looked back up when she told him which year she was in. Fourth. So she wasn't that much younger than him. That was nice. "Good." Lewis didn't quite know what else to say in reply so he just smiled and hurried to catch up with her.

A little taken by surprise by her next question, Lewis stopped for a moment. Interesting question. "I'm not sure yet. It's...quite nice. Everybody's really nice." He replied vaguely, looking up at her with her a shrug, biting his lip. He still wasn't used to this feeling of belonging to this house.

With a small smile for Taryn, he continued walking again, shuffling his feet a little. "So, what's it like living under the lake then?" He asked, genuinly curious about this since they'd talked about it in the CoMC/HoM class.

Lily chuckled softly. "You should have seen me my first time at the castle. I'm glad an older girl helped me out, otherwise I probably would have been on the first train home." she said. "It's good to know that I'm fun to talk too. You know who else would have been fun to talk too? the people that made that swamp over there" She said eyeing the swamp at the end of the hallway. "Do you know who put that there? I only know because I love to read."
