How do you feel about the upcoming Harry Potter television series?

Recently, HBO Max and Warner Bros. announced that a live-action series would be happening over the course of ten years. While casting is still in its early stages {with casting calls recently being announced} and the search for directors is still on, J.K Rowling is set to serve as an Executive Producer.

What are your thoughts about this series? What do you hope to see? What do you hope not to see? What do you wish would be done differently with the series as opposed to the movies? Let us know!

Before SS crashed and wiped out many of our great discussions, I predicted that a TV series would be how they revamped the original films. I definitely made a bet with myself about that. Granted, I thought this would happen in like 2030+, not now!! It seems too soon!!

Since I think it's too soon, I'm not super hyped for the show. I feel like a lot of original content could come before the show (like a show about the Marauders would be nice....) but I do think it would be cool if some of the original cast popped up in this iteration. Tom Felton would make a great Lucius Malfoy, for example. Idk. I'm not real into it but like all the other millenials, I do devote my Sundays at 9pm to whatever HBO is streaming at the moment.

I am not much excited, but in doubt how is it all going to happen.. for me personally I love the original cast , it might take a long time for me to get used to or I might not get used to the new cast

I echo RoRo's sentiment that it's just too soon. It hasn't been long enough between the original series we grew up on to now. I would definitely rather them show us other content. Like maybe a mini series on the memories we never got to see in Half Blood Prince, or Marauders like already mentioned. Or shoot, I'd even love something about the Founders. There are just SO many other options for new content they can give us, I'm a little disappointed we're getting revamped version of the original.

And while I do like the idea of Draco as Lucius, I'd rather wait until we can have our OG Harry as Dumbledore lol

I thought I'd have been more excited but I'm just not at the moment Not sure why this is so, though I suspect part of it has to do with being mellow that the movies may get less attention; they have been an integral part of my pre-teen and teen years. Perhaps as the cast is announced and other info else pertaining to the show starts being made public, I'll feel the thrill

It might be a tad too soon, DH pt. 2 came out in 2011 which is about a decade reprieve (although at least a couple of the original actors is glad or wants to be disassociated), original spin-offs such as the Mauraders might have better priority but there is a lot of important details the films were not faithful to that a television series can reconcile such as all of the Voldemort memories and S.P.E.W and that is something I find I am looking forward to.

I however, am concerned about the actor casted as Snape, a black actor in the worst role to use for black representation.
Snape isn't just the most explictly white character (pale and pasty from always being in the dungeons): he's a negative sterotype.

We're talking about a character who is bullied as a child, and the subject of suspicion as an adult based on appearance, is overlooked for a job for almost a decade all coming from white charactors, is involved with the magical equivalent of the KKK (even when he was just undercover) and murders a white man.

I fear this has the potential to ruin the entire franchise.
