Videos: J.K. Rowling, Rupert Grint talk Harry Potter films BAFTA honour
At this evening's BAFTA film awards, J.K. Rowling and Rupert Grint spoke to the BBC on the red carpet about the Harry Potter films' receiving the Outstanding Contribution to Cinema honour, which the pair, along with Emma Watson, directors David Yates, Mike Newell, and Alfonso Cuaron, and producers David Heyman and David Barron, will pick up on stage. Helena Bonham Carter, who was nominated for and WON at this evening for her work in The King's Speech, voiced her joy at the movie garnering the recognition it has from viewers and critics alike.
Jo admitted that she is writing something at the moment, though would not divulge specifics. Those can be viewed below.
UPDATE: More interviews with Helena and Rupert with BAFTA's official press can be viewed here and here.
We will update this post with more interviews from the red carpet throughout the evening.
The Orange British Academy Film Awards will air this evening on BBC 1 in the UK, and telecast on BBC America in the U.S. at 8pm EST/PST. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I lost in both of the categories it was nominated for: makeup and hair went to Alice in Wonderland; special effects award was given to Inception.
If anyone is able to capture footage from the awards of the cast and crew of Harry Potter picking up the Outstanding Contribution to Cinema, feel free to send it in!
It's great that Harry Potter is being recognized for being such a long standing and successful film franchise and more or less keeping a cast that's a credit to British cinema.

great vids! its so awesome that JKR is there. i mean without her there is no Harry Potter. hope you guys can put up the vid where the Potter people receives the special award.
and Helena is looking very regal lately. guess she got tired of the kooky look i still love the way she does her hair though-- birds nest it is not! it certainly gives her more character than the boring stick straight hair most people are wearing.
and Rupe is there. awesome! was Daniel and Emma there too? the Trio ought to be there on stage with JKR.
and i just had to say this but i didnt expect to see Dominic Cooper in the vids that was a nice surprise. he was in Helena's video around the 2min mark.

I'm so happy the franchise is finally getting the recognition they deserve. What's even better is how they were never expecting it. It's clear that working on the films was a reward in of itself!!
Your flavour is milk. You're a quiet person and enjoy the peace, but you also
enjoy a bit of something new. You like the unconventional surprises that life
brings. You keep those dear to you close and adore them, as they adore you. ♥
