| | | Tesco cleared of wrongdoing in Czech Deathly Hallows sales
We reported earlier this month about Czech Deathly Hallows books being sold in Tesco supermarkets, which violated an agreement with the publisher, Albatros, that the book would be sold first in bookstores. At the time, Albatros thought the copies must be pirated versions, but it has now come to light that the books were legitimate. Tesco received the books from one of Albatros’s customers, Vltava Stores, who believed they had the right to sell the books online to whomever they wished.
According to Vltava: Quote:
We purchased about 10,000 copies [from Albatros] and eventually sold about a half of the stock to another company.
Albatros is now seeking monetary compensation from Vltava, and is planning to sue. Quote:
If Vltava Stores does not respond to our demands, we will launch legal proceedings against it so that rightful interests of both the author and Albatros are defended.

Why does there have to be a suing when Harry Potter is involved? Just do things "by the book" first to post

I guess because it is such a high in-demand book, that they want to grant bookstores the right to get all the sales FIRST, and the other stores, such as grocery stores, second. Not sure if that's the reason or not, but that's what I'd guess.
Anyway, yeah...there always seems to be some legal issue surrounding HP. I guess when you have something that's as good as HP, everyone wants to make sure they get their fair share of the money the franchise makes. =[

It's a little odd how it could only be sold in stores first..what's really the difference with physical stores and online stores? It does seem a little harsh to sue though, I agree with you as well!!

Hmm it does seem harsh to sue... I mean what is the difference if it is sold in bookstores or online stores the important thing is that it sold.
