Possible Oscar for PoA special effects The Associated Press reports that the organisers of the Academy awards have narrowed down the possible list of contenders in the category of "Best Special Effects" used in a film. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is one of seven films that qualify to compete for this year's nominations. In order to make the final round to be nominated for an Oscar, each of the seven qualifing films must supply a 15 minute reel of highlights for screening by the voting members of the Academy. The members will then nominate 3 of these films for an Oscar award. Other films that have made it to this final round of possible nominees are Spiderman 2, the new Lemony Snicket film, The Aviator, I, Robot, The Day After Tomorrow, and Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. The Academy Awards nominations will be officially announced on January 25th in Los Angeles, California. Source: The Leaky Cauldron. |
yay ! one oscar is good enough...considering the hp movies never won any yet |
PoA better win this time around, now that LotR's gone (not that I'm not an LotR fan, but HP holds a special place inside my heart). |
well to be honest as much as i love HP i would have to give it to, spiderman 2, i robot and the day after tomorrow. as they have far superior special effects |
Interesting. Thanks! Spiderman 2, Sky Captain and PoA are all great in the special effects department! I haven't seen Lemony yet but I hope that's cool! :) I think Sky Captain will win. |
That's so wicked! PoA should definitley get nominated. |
^very wicked indeed! i so hope they get an oscar |
Its nice to see that PoA got nominated...wish John Williams was nominated! |
It hasn't been nominated yet....it may get a nomination but that wont be announced until Jan 25th. |
hooray for POA |
it should win for fx, they got much better from cos |
Thats awsome... they should totally win! |
that's awesome!! POA definitely should get nominated! the special effects were the most amazing I've ever seen!! The Day after Tomorrow's effects werent brilliant..i dont understand that..i havent seen the rest of the films..but POA tops all!!! it should definitely be nominated!!! so is that the only award its in the running for? no other oscars? i think it should have been but oh well, this is the farthest a HP film has come, as far as Academy Awards go..i bet GOF will get loads! |
Yayness!! And no LoTR to steal the award away *hides in case of backlash* |
Yay, I'm glad they may be nominated :) But, Day After Tomorrow has fantastic Special Effects, HP may get nominated, but not get the Oscar....:( |
i hope Poa gets nominated it deserves to! |
Pretty interesting. Thanks for finding it. Sky Captain was absolutely brilliant. I\'m very suprised Van Helsing isn\'t nominated. I do hope HP makes it! |
POA deserves to win. |
good luck for HP! i havent seen any of those other movies mentioned yet, so no comments on those.. |
wow... thats amazing! that would be so awsome i mean ofcourse they deserve it... |
I saw Lemony Snicket\'s a series of unfortunate events yesterday. It was really good and had more special effects than Harry Potter. And as much as I want Harry Potter to win, I don\'t think it will |
I hope that POA wins that Oscar :jump: . I didn\'t expect LOTR to win awards last year but it did and it was the best. |
i really hope that poa wins an oscar - it\'s by far the movie with the best special effects |
i realy hope PoA wins or at least gets nominated, the special effects were great, especially the flying buckbeak one. |
I hope they get the nomination! I love the special effects!! |
