Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is still in the top five in the U.K charts, at number five, according to the BBCi films website. As predicted Spiderman 2 has now taken the number one spot, Shrek 2 follows behind in second place, Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11 holds the third place with Around The World In 80 Days in at number four.

I think its because, Britain does not really have a good reception to American films like, Mean Girls and The Prince and Me.
Judging by the latest stats, I would conclude that us brits prefer big films, like LoTR, HP, Shrek 2, Spiderman.
At the moment America appears to really be kicking out those teen types of films, which are much better recepted in the states.

Cool...glad it's still going strong across the pond. I love the British culture and how it's different from ours in those little ways like, calling cookies biscuits and fries are chips, and chips are crisps, and a** is ar*e, and you guys love hot tea where as in the Southern States (where it gets very hot in the summer) we drink a lot of tea also except over ice. Then theres Spotted Dick.... (um I know that's some kind of dessert but exactly what is it?) :huh: Also mom is mum and when my mom was a teen she used to dance a dance called the Sh*g, which of course does not mean the same thing in your country as in ours. Making out is snogging, and then I forget what the British call a French Kiss but it's something different.
Also you guys call panties, knickers, and pants are trousers and the word bloody is actually a badword over there. You tuck into your food where as we tuck into bed. Also you guys say you lot instead of you guys. Where actually you guys is a Yankee term and we Southerns actually say ya'll. But we also say I reckon, which is also a Southern term Yankees love to make fun of. Also we call Northerners Yankees as you call all Americans Yankees and then Yankees just call us (Southerners) inbred white trash. (Which is absolutely not true! I've never ever kissed any of my cousins no matter how cute they are. :eyebrows: ) Then theres the trunk of the car, which in the South, we also call it the boot but my husband (who was born in Ohio and therefore a Yankee) gave me such a hard time about calling the trunk of a car the boot that I finally quit calling it that and started calling it the trunk when he is around. >_<

I think other cultures are amazing and beautiful and I'm so glad Harry Potter (Jo) introduced me to the British culture. :flowersmile: :flowersmile:

I think Americans love HP just as much as the British. I think the only reason PoA fell out of the top five in the American box office is because during the summer we are blitzed with so many different movies to see. Every week there's another blockbuster, so it was really unlikely that Harry would ever remain in the Top 5 for a long time.

I very much love Britain but am not sure if I will visit it at all. As for Farenheit 9/11, as long as it is anti-Bush I'm there, but SS is not for politics so you can ignore that. As for PoA, which is the center of this topic, forgive me, that is odd-yes, I agree that when you love something, you love it no matter where you come from. That still, does not answer why it has fallen in America but is still up and running healthy as a horse in the U.K and in Denmark. Hmmm...
