Order of the Phoenix takes $44.8 million in first day Order of the Phoenix has broken the record for the best single-day gross ever - it took in $44.8 million on Wednesday - the day on which it opened in the U.S. The previous record was held by Spiderman 2 which raked in $40.4 million in 2004.
