Post J.K. Rowling's team denies Robert Galbraith 7-book crime series or TV/film adaptation

While The Sunday Times stated that a third crime book from J.K. Rowling was being written since last year, Little, Brown, the publishers behind The Cuckoo's Calling and soon-to-be-released The Silkworm, commented that there was no plan of a seven book installment, akin to the Harry Potter saga.

This does not mean that a third book is not being written by Rowling through Galbraith's pseudonym, but it confirms there are no plans for seven crime novels around private detective Cormoran Strike and his cases.

Quote:
A spokesman for Little, Brown said: “Richard Brooks has written this without foundation and there aren’t seven books planned in the series.”

On the topic of an film or television adaptation of the Galbraith crime novels, J.K. Rowling's publishers at The Blair Partnership admit that options are currently being looked into to bring the series to the screen, though nothing is confirmed yet. Do note that once the Galbraith books are adapted, news will be here as soon as it becomes available.

Quote:
A spokesman for The Blair Partnership, which handles TV and film rights for the Galbraith novels, said it "has received a number of notes of interest in the film/TV rights for the Galbraith novels, but it is early days, and nothing has been confirmed yet".
Pre-order The Silkworm, out June 24 in the U.S., right here, and the synopsis of the story can be read below

Quote:
When novelist Owen Quine goes missing, his wife calls in private detective Cormoran Strike. At first, Mrs. Quine just thinks her husband has gone off by himself for a few days-as he has done before-and she wants Strike to find him and bring him home.

But as Strike investigates, it becomes clear that there is more to Quine's disappearance than his wife realizes. The novelist has just completed a manuscript featuring poisonous pen-portraits of almost everyone he knows. If the novel were to be published, it would ruin lives-meaning that there are a lot of people who might want him silenced.

When Quine is found brutally murdered under bizarre circumstances, it becomes a race against time to understand the motivation of a ruthless killer, a killer unlike any Strike has encountered before... A compulsively readable crime novel with twists at every turn, THE SILKWORM is the second in the highly acclaimed series featuring Cormoran Strike and his determined young assistant, Robin Ellacott.

When I spotted Sunday Times' claim in a News thread here yesterday, I went on a Google search, which came up with nothing regarding a third book and seven installments. That felt extremely fishy, and even more so as it came from a news site and not from Jo or her publishers. So I'm not at all surprised to find that this was only a rumour. Thanks for updating with this info!

Maybe this one will be an eight-parter. It's too bad her pseudonym was blown so early on in what appears to be a real series!

TOTALLY agree with the second part. And the first.

It must have been so liberating to be unknown once more. Now when I read a good book, I wonder if Jo is the author.
