78-year-old Harry Potter from Bradenton, Florida, who is inundated with several calls a day whenever a new Potter book or movie is released, claimed to have received a call from none other than J.K. Rowling.
He said she was planning to hold a party for people named Harry Potter this December in either New York City or London.
However Scholastic have now confirmed that this is false and that Jo is planning no such event.

This seems a bit odd ... would JKR really plan something like that? I've heard stories about that particular Harry though, he seems like a neat guy, lol. He said he indulges the kids who call him, describing what sorts of magic he's been up to and stuff, lol. It's cute! And I'd love to attend that convention, if there ever was one. That'd be so odd to be one of those guys and to be in the same room with hundreds of people who have your name. |

Rumours usually spring from many sources, so I think he made it up. If it was true, there would have been a press release and/or an official announcement, not an article in an obscure publication.
