Ralph got the coveted Richard Harris Award, in additional to his directorial debut nod for Coriolanus, and Kenneth Branagh The Variety Award; photos of the two, as well as Imelda Staunton (Dolores Umbridge), Brendan Gleeson (Mad-Eye Moody; nominated for Best Actor in The Guard), and Nick Moran (Scabior), at the ceremony in London can be found in our galleries. We will update as soon as images of the actors with their awards have been released online. http://www.snitchseeker.com/gallery/...p_10fb7388.jpg http://www.snitchseeker.com/gallery/...p_2df24ae2.jpg http://www.snitchseeker.com/gallery/...p_f0810b77.jpg http://www.snitchseeker.com/gallery/...p_c4402ec7.jpg http://www.snitchseeker.com/gallery/...p_75830b0c.jpg http://www.snitchseeker.com/gallery/...p_72550215.jpg http://www.snitchseeker.com/gallery/...p_0b7b9585.jpg
Kenneth and Ralph had this to say about receiving their honours, according to the Press Association: Kenneth Branagh: It is very exciting and thrilling. It is very nice to have a prize that has the words 'variety' and 'independence' attached to it because it is what I like to pursue in my work and to be in an atmosphere that people say is the Christmas party for the British film industry.
These are people who are publishing stories which are very connected with what the British public might be interested in, what society is interested in, what the zeitgeist is about and that is important. The nation needs to talk about itself and hold a mirror up to nature and these films are doing that and the more they are doing that the better. Ralph Fiennes: I think [I and Vanessa Redgrave, winner of Best Supporting Actress for Coriolanus are] both very happy that we shared making this film. It was extremely challenging to make at a time when no one was rushing forward to make Coriolanus. The fact that we can be here and honoured with nominations - it is great.
