A few days ago we got in touch with Hamilton Hodell, the agency that represents Shirley Henderson, who plays Moaning Myrtle in the Harry Potter films. It has been confirmed to us that the character hasn't made it into Half-Blood Prince. Quote:

Every thing we've heard so far is how different from the book the HBP movie will be. No Scrimgeour, Fleur, Bill, v. little Tonks & now Myrtle?

Yes  lots from the book, it's just we're hearing a lot of negative stuff because Warner Brothers aren't releasing any information because of embargoes and stuff being promised to certain outlets/publications etc... So we're only able to report on what isn't in the film, which paints a worse picture than what's actually the case.

I can understand why they left her out.
the whole sectumsempra thing (on film) can look kinda bloody and messy.
I'm not sure if they wanted to add that... Adding it may upgrade the movie from a rated PG movie to a PG13. And we have to remember that there are alot of little kids who admire harry potter. I personally think that They should stay true to the book.

Hate to see so many characters cut that were in the book, but what can you do? We know the filmmakers always have a tendency to do this. It's sad, but just the way it is. This is why the books are so much better than the films! (Not to say that the films are not worth seeing, they are. But you know what I mean!)
