Evanna Lynch talks Luna Lovegood's serious side in Deathly Hallows & take on fame

Evanna Lynch recently gave her personal opinions on how Luna Lovegood had changed personality-wise in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I, how Luna would react to the fan phenomenon of the series, and why she believed she deserved the role above all other hopefuls.

I think that parts of me are like [Luna], but I am different. I had to be in the audition. I said ‘I know that you may have ideas of who Luna is, but here is how I see her.’ "

"I don’t think Luna changes. The thing about her is that she’s so relaxed about herself. She has to be a bit more serious than normal [in "Deathly Hallows"] and has to accept that times are dark. She always sees the positive and has a spirituality about herself. She doesn’t think that death is the end."

Ooh! Evanna is awesome! I love how she knows she is Luna, and no one else is!

I love how she describes how Luna would deal with the publicity, I can see Luna doing that, Evanna really knows her character :)

yeah she's the best book to screen translation when it comes to casting.

Evanna is so cool! She really does seem to be so much like I envision Luna to be. I am sure that there are differences, like she says, between her and the character, but there are an awful lot of similarities. Great interview.

Absolutely. :yes: If there was anyone who ever deserved a role in Harry Potter, it was her because not only does she know her character extremely well, but she understands the Harry Potter series from a fan's perspective the way we do, which is very rare. She's one of us and I don't think I've ever envied her for having the role because there really is no one better. ^_^ She was one of the rare few who translated the character onscreen perfectly from the book without any falter.

Mmhmm. She does an excellent job of portraying Luna. Casting has, in the past, reaaaally disappointed me at times, but she is definitely the Luna I imagine.

Evanna is totally awesome! She will always be perfect for Luna and will always be the only one. She was born the be Luna! :P

She really is the perfect Luna. Of all the HP characters, I think the writers got Luna the most right and then found a perfect actress for her!

Evanna is, in my mind, Luna. I don't see a distinction between the character and the person as I do with some of the other actors. And that is, in no means, a bad thing. Evanna's brilliant.

She really was the perfect Luna. You know she must've worked hard, but honestly it doesn't show. Her performance seems effortless, unlike Emma at times.
