Equus closes June 9th, to go to Broadway summer 2008
 

It has been confirmed that the current run of Equus, starring Dan Radcliffe and Richard Griffiths, will close in London on June 9th. Both actors have agreed to reprise their roles for a run on Broadway in the summer of 2008 (when Half-Blood Prince will likely be in post-production). This will be followed by an Australian production (although nothing is said about whether the same performers will be involved in this). In the meantime, this summer the production will embark on a UK tour, with Richard Fleeshman taking over from Dan as Alan Strang.

Why do it, if you can't do it all the time? That's what I'd like to know? I'd also like to know why Rupert coulnd't have done it ... I'd go see him perform any day ... or rather every day.

It's not unusual for actors to change, especially if the play has a long run. Performing 8 times a week is a gruelling schedule and most need to move on to other projects (like Dan does).
