Dan Radcliffe, Rupert Grint & Emma Watson talk end of Deathly Hallows with EW

The Fall preview issue of Entertainment Weekly focuses on the final installments of the Harry Potter films, Deathly Hallows, which included a new promo shot of Harry holding Draco Malfoy's hawthorne wand from part two on the cover. That can be found here.

New interview bits from Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson, who spoke while filming the Room of Requirement sequence from part two, can be read below.

Quote:

“I’m ready to kind of move on now, I think,” Grint said between takes. “This film is a great way to finish the whole era, and it’s going to be sad, because obviously all my friends are here, but 10 years is enough.” The three of them were shooting a scene in the Room of Requirement in which Harry, Ron, and Hermione are searching for a horcrux — in this case, the tiara-like Ravenclaw diadem. Watson and Grint were both sopping wet. (In the film, Ron and Hermione have recently destroyed another horcrux in water and were pursued by a Voldemort-shaped tsunami.)

Grint and Watson were kept soaked by crew members, who sprayed the pair down every few minutes. It was not making Watson happy. “It’s been this way for weeks,” she said, shivering next to a space heater. “I hate to sound whiny, but it’s horrible. It’s miserable being wet all the time.” She shrugged and added flatly: “But, you know, I was told it will look very dramatic when you see the films, so it will be worth it.”

Radcliffe, meanwhile, seemed to be in a tug-of-war with himself about finishing his run as Harry Potter. “This film has been hard to make, and I’ve had some of the most trying moments, both physically and mentally, than ever before,” he said.

“I wasn’t entirely thrilled with my performance in Half-Blood [Prince] — I found it quite same-y, and didn’t think there was enough variation in it — so I’ve worked hard to make sure that if the seventh film comes out and I’m still unhappy with it, I’ll know it won’t be from lack of trying.”
The issue of Entertainment Weekly will be out tomorrow. If anyone can get scans, feel free to send them in!

"In the film, Ron and Hermione have recently destroyed another horcrux in water and were pursued by a Voldemort-shaped tsunami"

OMG thats what they made the Cup Horcrux do? Thats so awesome. I wonder if JKR told them thats what happened, or if they made it up.

Its going to be so intense in the theater!! :)

Also is that Draco's wand Harry has in the cover?

PattyH. 08-12-2010 03:27 PM

Oh look is that the Hawthorn wand???
I wish I hadn't read the reason for their wetness!

Gryffindor2009 08-12-2010 03:28 PM

Yes that's Draco's wand! :D I can tell cause that's the same clothes he's wearing inthe trailer where he's dueling LV.

phoenix03 08-12-2010 03:32 PM

That's Draco's wand I think! Nice interview! :)

crazedHPfan 08-12-2010 03:35 PM

voldemort shaped tsunami. ummm...what...? but whatever it sounds like it will look cool.

ronhermioneroc12 08-12-2010 03:41 PM

newtscholar8 08-12-2010 03:50 PM

Its from the Hufflepuff Horcrux, not the Room of Requirement. In the book we never know what 'challenge' Ron and Hermione had to go through to kill the Cup down in the Chamber of Secrets, so in the film they made one up and is showing us what happened.

TBH it sounds like a really epic sequence. They can even move the kiss to that moment also.

jain 08-12-2010 04:00 PM

i do think Dan is being hard on himself. i thought his performance was top drawer, not my favorite film but a great film none the less.

jain 08-12-2010 04:06 PM

also, what a wonderful cover!

halfmyself 08-12-2010 04:21 PM

Anytime I hear the stars talk about DH, it gives me goose bumps. I'm so looking forward to seeing these last two films and the AMAZING performances I know they'll bring forth!!!!!

sheritips 08-12-2010 04:23 PM

:r/hr:I think the whole scene in the chamber of secrets will be amazing because in the book we have no idea what happened down there. I can't wait for this movie.

watherwater 08-12-2010 04:25 PM

Dan as Harry looks great on the cover! Eh, only an actor knows what he's talking about. There is no doubt he is being hard on himself but I think that's the only way for him to see what he's doing wrong. I can relate to him when it comes to drawing.

Ga.b. 08-12-2010 04:38 PM

Cool! :)

Wonderstruck 08-12-2010 04:38 PM

I am sure being wet for a couple of weeks straight probably gets old after a while. Poor Emma and Rupert. It's nice to see that Dan is so devoted to trying to do a great job in his whole. I think sometimes you can be your own hardest critic. I am like that when I play tennis.

HogwartsHokage 08-12-2010 04:47 PM

Aw, I feel sorry for Emma. I'm sure I would feel the same way if they keep spraying me with water. Voldemort-shaped tsunami? Hm...that sounds funny. :D

I had to admit that HBP wasn't one of my favorites either, but come on, Dan, you were great at the Felix Felicis scene at least! :)

IMAndyDrew 08-12-2010 04:50 PM

YES!! That sounds freaking amazing!!! Can't wait!

cherbear09 08-12-2010 04:51 PM

great interview!! very excited to see how the scene unfolds in the Chamber of Secrets !!

poor Dan, he did do a great job ! He obviously puts his all into the movies and it definitly shows! Like he said, if doesnt turn out well it wont be from his lack of trying!

HallowedGround 08-12-2010 04:55 PM

This is fantastic! Absolutely CANNOT WAIT!
And don't worry Emma, I would have been a little annoyed at the freezing water too. =P

22_PotterPrincess_22 08-12-2010 05:02 PM

OMG!!!! this is awesome and i've just seen the scans!!!

I can't believe that they're showing the destruction of the cup!!! and it must have been done in the CoS cause i know they where filming down there with just R/Hr cause i thought that was where they were doing the kiss!!! it would also make sense cause the RoR scene happens after and they would need to be wet for it then!! this is just amazing cause we don't just get to see them do their long awaited smooch (squee!!!!!!) and then the scene is over, they get to battle a tsunami together (squee!!!!!!).

this movie is going to kill my little shipper heart as it will die from cuteness overload!!!

Obi-Wan K'Lari 08-12-2010 07:07 PM

OMGGGGEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!! The wand! the wand!!! I'm so excited!!! and a Voldy-Tsunami :xd: that's priceless!

lunabelle<3Weasley's 08-12-2010 07:34 PM

OKAY... can we all say EPIC!

I am super excited for the "missing moment" scenes!!! and if they move the kiss down there they can make up for leaving SPEW out of the films...
