<u>Comparative article on HP and "Left Behind"</u>

Quote:

Slate Magazine has an interesting article about the some parallels between the Left Behind and Harry Potter series. While the thoughts behind the article's arguments are interesting, there are some glitches in terms of Harry Potter facts - for example, the writer says Voldemort becomes a lizard, which isn't exactly correct. The elements of the Hero's Journey that exist in both works, however, are interesting to ponder.

Interesting article. Sounded like something I might have written in high school, though.

But I did learn one interesting thing: I am a wacko.

Quote:

Suffice it to say, some secular critics dismiss the Left Behind books as of the wackos, by the wackos, for the wackos.

ewwww! i feel totally offended that that dude compared crap left behind to harry potter. i hate left behind! it's such a catholic basher! and it's wrong!

but that's not my point. first of all, i don't think the good side in harry potter is at all about tolerance. it's about defeating evil because of what it is. evil is evil. and i have no idea where the heck he got his idea that hp is liberal! his final conclusion at the end was especially wrong. he needs to study the theology more before he makes comments on prodestants and catholics. he is just wrong on so many levels. darn_n00b >:(

ok. i'm done fuming. :)

Very interesting. I have read both the Left Behind books and (obviously) the Harry Potter books, however I never really noticed any similarities between the two. They're both good books, I mean..basically the theme is 'overcoming evil.'

Some interesting quotes in there...
