Colin Farrell only filmed a few days of 'Fantastic Beasts' so far, ending in January
Colin Farrell gave a bit more detail than any of his costars combined about the upcoming production of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them while promoting his upcoming dark comedy The Lobster in the UK this week.
Farrell, who plays a wizard named Graves in the series, told HeyUGuys' movie blog on two different occasions - the London premiere and junket for The Lobster - that he's only filmed scenes for the feature for a few days so far (as of mid-October 2015) and confirms production's end in January 2016.
More on that, including comparisons and thoughts about the Harry Potter series, can be seen and read below.
Quote:
What are you working on next?
Colin Farrell: Oh, I’m doing a thing in town now called Fantastic Beasts. I’ll be doing that until January.
Have you been researching the Harry Potter books for that?
Colin Farrell: No, I don’t’ know the books, but I’ve seen all the films. But no, it’s a standalone thing. It’s all an individual piece.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them … how do you fit into that tale?
Colin Farrell: No idea. I’ve only shot a few days. But what I’ve seen so far, the world is extraordinary in the sets and the costumes and the creatures that they’re gonna be designing that exist within the world. It’s a pretty beautiful world to just try and slot yourself into.
So that’s ongoing now?
Colin Farrell: That’s ongoing now. They’re shooting out at Leavesden. Yeah, they’ve been there for a couple of months.
Photos of Farrell at the BFI London Film Festival premiere of The Lobster on Tuesday with costar Rachel Weisz can be found below.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them's first installment, written by J.K. Rowling and starring Eddie Redmayne, hits theaters and IMAX in November 2016.
