Point Me Colin Creevey Where had Harry gotten to? Colin neeeeeeded to see what Harry was up to and was terribly put out by being unable to find him. The young Gryffindor had tried searching the castle on his own, but was just not having any luck. Grumpily, he pulled out his wand. That point me spell was for tracking, right? Colin wracked his brain, trying to remember what Hermione had said. Or was it just to point North? Colin, clearly misremembering, muttered the incantation while visualizing Harry and watched as his wand spun in his hand. It settled – pointing North as it was supposed to do – and Colin bounded up the stairs in the direction, the wand spinning whenever he changed his orientation to keep pointing north. But Colin thought it meant that Harry was on the move. Eyes glued to the wand, Colin hurried, his camera bouncing against his chest as he slipped into the common room, confident he would find Harry within. And he followed his wand right out of the open window of Gryffindor tower. |
31. Orchideous Romilda Vane Those love potions had been a bad, bad idea. Romilda hugged the wall as she crept through the castle, trying to remain unseen. Those cauldron cakes had been for Harry, but the noble git had gone and shared them with half the boys’ dormitory. She hadn’t had a moment to herself outside her room and getting to the girl’s dorm through a common room of obsessed boys was proving problematic. So she was skipping class. Maybe, she’d manage to get to the tower, through the common room and up to the dorm without anyone seeing her. Despite a stern look from the portrait, she entered and exhaled, finding it empty. Trudging up the stairs, she unholstered her wand and closing the door behind her, cast a charm to lock it. Tossing her wand on the bed, she sneezed. Looking around in horror, she saw the room full of bouquets of flowers. Had she taken her allergy potion? As her throat began to swell, her eyes stung and she realized that she hadn’t. And there was just simply too much pollen in the room. It was double potions today. No one was coming. |
19. Jelly Legs Dima Toussaint With gratitude to Lemon Following an excellent corridor nap, Dima and Thornton made their way out to the grounds. Thornton was doing his best to keep up with the enthusiastic Dima, who just kept saying something about the squid in the lake. Dima, somehow, had spotted the squid near the edge of the lake from the castle and was running at breakneck speed toward the creature. Thornton hurried though he kept falling further and further behind. As Dima got closer, the squid moved abruptly and began to submerge, pulling his tentacles back from the shore. “I do not wish to be disturbed today, young Ravenclaw,” he said as his body disappeared below the surface of the water. “Nooo, Bartyyyyy, let me hug youuuuuu,” Dima flailed as he ran into the water and wrapped his arms and legs around a rapidly descending tentacle. Though it shook in response, Dima held fast, either refusing to let go or stuck and unable to. Blub. By the time Thornton reached the edge of the lake, Dima was gone. A few bubbles. And then nothing. |
22. Legilimens Professor Morgan With gratitude to Ali Another successful scrying lesson complete, Professor Morgan had set to polishing each of the crystal balls by hand. One by one, she wrapped each heavy glass orb in her polishing cloth, buffing away smudges from student noses that got far too close. Once polished, the orb was placed in an individual bag and stacked next to her. Velvet bags of deep blue, radiant purple, verdant green. The stack grew bigger and bigger, and finally, Cassie decided to put them all back in storage. It was no small task to store an entire school’s worth of crystal balls and the wooden shelves creaked and groaned as the weight of the glass was once again on them. One by one, Cassie levitated the orbs back onto the high shelves, stored for another term. As the last ball came to rest on the highest shelf, the wood gave way, sending a cascade of crystal balls onto the shelf below, which in turn gave way, sending an avalanche of orbs onto poor Cassie Morgan. Burying her beneath untold tons of glass. She really should have seen that coming. |
