"Nothing"

Theme # 50: Boggart

Boggarts were afraid of laughter. Theodore smiled at the thought. He had no idea why, but he found it funny.

"Did you know Martel's boggart is an inferi?" Draco asked, his voice a whisper.

At once, Theodore's smile vanished.

He whipped around to face Draco. "Yes," his voice was terse. "And you shouldn't be planning anything nasty, Draco!"

"He's always been a big git," Draco said, his smirk widening. "And it would be fun to watch the useless Ravenclaw -"

"No!"

Draco raised an eyebrow. "What's up with you, anyway?"

Theodore took a deep breathe. "Nothing."

"Luna, Wait"

Theme # 51: Act

Hermione nudged him in the back. Hard.

"Ouch, 'Mione, that hurt," Theodore hissed at her, taking another step back into the shadows. Hermione scowled heavily, crossing her arms against her chest.

"You're chickening out, Theo!"

Theodore winced. "Am not!"

Biting her lip, Hermione took a deep, deep breath to calm herself. "Listen, Theo, you need to act - act as in NOW - if you want something to happen. Stop waiting for a miracle, alright!"

With an effort, Theodore nodded. He stepped out of the dark, into the corridor, just as Luna's yellow hair whipped out of sight.

"Luna, wait!"

Bored With Cloaks

Theme # 52: Bore

"Daddy sent it to me for Christmas," Pansy was saying in an unnecessarily loud voice. Theodore did not pause as he passed her on his way outside, continuing to walk, his head held high.

"Theo! Hey, Theo!" Pansy called.

He halted, roughly. "What?"

"Dad sent me an Invisibility cloak. Don't you want to see it? It's amazing, one of the best there are, out there."

Boring, Pansy.

Resisting the temptation to roll his eyes, he left without another word. Behind him, Pansy frowned. Why, just why, was he never interested?

Little did she know he owned one, too.

Of Dogs and Danger

Theme # 53: Chase

Muggles. For the first time ever, Theodore did not feel at complete peace in a muggle-inhibited surrounding. Quite the contrary, actually.

Maybe it was because he was on a mission, a task for the Order. Maybe because he had to be extra careful, this time around, because his job was top-secret. Maybe because he knew he had a horde of death eaters on his track, ready to entrust him to Voldemort. Maybe because he knew he was in danger, and it was growing.

- Or maybe because some muggle's bulldog had just chased him across three, consecutive roads.

Truth, Dare, and Snow

Theme # 54: Dare

"Loveg - Luna?"

Luna Lovegood looked up at the approaching figure, her eyes huge. "Theodore?"

"What are you doing?" Theodore asked her, softly. It was seven in the evening, and everyone was inside because it was snowing so heavily. Only a few daredevils ventured outside, and he had only come out because he had seen her.

"Playing truth and dare," Luna replied serenely.

"In the snow?"

"Yes."

"Alone?"

"Yes."

He looked at her, his face impassive. The snow came down harder, and it began to rain, huge snowdrops clinging to her golden hair.

He handed her his jacket. "Count me in."

Theme # 55: Egg on

Luna stopped. He stopped, too. Then he looked at Hermione.

"Go on," Hermione hissed.

"Erm, Lovegood -" Theodore began. Hermione cut him across.

"He means Luna, Luna. Not Lovegood." Then she glared at Theodore, who coughed.

Luna looked at the pair of them, eyes huge. "What are you two trying to do?"

Theodore sighed. "She's egging me on." He pointed at Hermione.

Hermione, on this declaration, looked simply mortified. "He's talking absolute nonsense, don't you believe a word of what he says! An - err - faerie bit him."

There was silence. Then Luna said:

"Faeries don't bite, Hermione."

Seeing Red

Theme # 56: Fight

"Fight, fight, fight. Fight, fight, fight." On all four sides, the chant grew louder, as Ronald Weasley nearly exhibited his best muggle duelling skills by ramming himself, headfirst, right into Draco Malfoy. Draco squealed, very, very loudly, and fell backwards.

"Oey! Weasley!"

Ron turned to see Theodore. His hands balled into fists, his ears the same vivid, flaming red as his hair, it was clear he was not going to bear a nasty comment from anyone, especially not a Slytherin.

"What?" he barked at Theodore.

Theodore jammed his hands into his pant pockets, a grin on his face. "Nice work."

Wandless with Wands

Theme # 58: Hoot

The Gryffindors all around them broke into a chorus of hoots. There were several rings of students circling them, most of whom did not refuse to partake in the hooting.

Goyle immediately advanced on Theodore. "Shut it, Nott," he barked, while Ron's expressions remained undecided - Theodore's words, Ron knew, were well-meant, but it was hard to believe a Slytherin could really mean well.
"I have a wand, Greg-o," Theodore answered, yawning. "You have one, too, come to think of it but, really, you know it's no use." He smiled sweetly.

At once, Goyle fell back.

Too Much Television

Theme # 57: Gape

On her way to the greenhouse, Pansy Parkinson stopped, eye narrowed. She had thought she was the only one late, but it seemed she was not. Theodore Nott stood outside, gaping.

Gaping at what -?

A girl, possibly? Jealous, Pansy immediately followed his gaze. A line of Ravenclaws was passing by, all boys with only one girl in their midst - that idiotic Lovegood. He couldn't possibly be staring at her.

Dismissing the thought from mind, Pansy shrugged and left.

Behind her, Theodore gaped on.

Watching too much Television and Luna Lovegood could have side-effects on your eyesight, you know.

Yule Ball Calls

Theme # 59: Ignore

"Theodore, wait!"

With the Yule Ball just around the corner, Theodore had known Pansy would catch up with him first thing in the morning and ask him to it. He also knew that, when he refused, she would throw her biggest tantrum ever. And, yes, that would be a scary sight.

Might even end up a few first years in St. Mungo's. Malady? Pansy-itis Scare.

So he continued to walk, as if he had not heard her call.

"THEODORE NOTT! STOP THIS INSTANT, OR YOU'RE DEAD MEAT," Pansy's voice rang throughout the hallway.

He ignored it.

Through Mutual Jokes

Theme # 60: Joke

Much of the Slytherin population at Hogwarts was crowded around their fireplace, taking turns at narrating joke.

"We should have some snacks, just to brighten things up," Theodore suggested casually, throwing everyone chocolate frogs. "Draco?"

With a curt nod, Draco accepted the edible Theodore was offering. He took one bite and -

There was a puff of smoke, and Draco had grown feathers all over. The whole common room burst into roars of laughter.

"That is your idea of a joke?" Draco shouted angrily, getting up, feathers, fur, wings and all.

"No, ours," half the common room shouted back at him.

Theme # 70: Team

They were dejected today, the Slytherins. They had lost the Quidditch match to Ravenclaw, and chances of their ever making it to the final Quidditch match of the year were thin.

"This is useless," Dora said, tears rising in her eyes. "After all the hard work we put in -"

Marcus nodded. "I still can't believe we lost," he said harshly.

Theodore rose from his sofa to thump his captain on the back. "Come on, Marc, cheer up. We can do this, we can win. We're all one team. Right, guys?"

"Right," they all chorused back, hearts suddenly lightening.

Scenes To Watch

Theme # 69: Slap

It was definitely a scene to watch. Pansy Parkinson had just slapped Draco Malfoy. The former was now shouting hysterically at the top of her voice, her words carrying everywhere, while the latter had his wand out, his voice escalating with every alphabet he uttered, too.

Apparently, Draco had just managed to split her school bag. Not on purpose. They had bumped into each other, and now her books were all over the floor, one half torn.

"They're idiots, both of them," Blaisi said unaffectionately, standing with Theodore, not far off.

Theodore smiled. "I'm not saying I disagree."

Theme # 68: Roar

He had been on his way to Potions but, still in the grounds, Theodore stopped. He should have hurried into the castle, at that moment, and then into the dungeons, but they stopped him -

- Roars from behind a large tree.

He took a peek. There sat Luna, a hat with a huge lion on top of it in her hands. She was tapping it with her wand and, each time she did, the lion roared.

Seemed like she was going to be supporting Gryffindor for the Quidditch match, this time around.

He smiled to himself, leaving her to her instruments.

Theme # 65: Ooze

Even more sticky fluid was now oozing out from the cauldron. Theodore made a sour face, taking a step back from the puddle of electric green he had just stepped into.
"What are you doing?" he demanded of his father.

"You shouldn't have come into my room without permission!" his father roared, livid.

Theodore scowled. "Don't you know any charms to prevent entry then!" He responded evenly.

His father gave him a shove. "Get out. Now."

Without a word, Theodore left. But not without plans of returning to find what had been in that cauldron, late, of course.

Theme # 72: Vex

Back in his bedroom, Theodore could not help feeling thoroughly vexed. He was hardly eleven but, even for a child who had yet to attend Hogwarts, his mind was exceptionally developed.

He knew his father was up to something.

What could there have been in that cauldron that he was so determined to conceal from him, his only son? Theodore knew his father was a death eater, one of the Dark Lord's most accomplished ones, but that only increased his hatred for the dark arts even more.

Well, he would find out what that man was up to, tonight.

Theme # 73: Warn

"I'm warning you -"

"Now, honey," Lavonne Nott said placidly, placing a hand on her husband's shoulder. "He's just a child, you know. I'm sure he didn't mean to poke around. Did you, Theo?"

"Of course I did," Theodore shot back, even though he had not.

Lavonne winced. "Theodore," she said, warning in her tones. "Don't -"

"I'm done with him," his father shouted. "That boy should keep out of my stuff! I'm warning him for the last time!" Furiously, he stormed out of the room.

Lavonne sighed.

- Theodore did not know how to react.

Theme # 74: X-tinguish

"He was quiet today. Very quiet. Life with over two months of everything but Luna was - boring. Very boring.

His mother entered, her face pretty radiant to see her son back. "I still can't get over the fact how tall you've grown," she said conversationally. Then she looked more closely at him. "Theo? Are you alright?"

Theodore nodded. "Yeah... Just wanted to get a good night's sleep, mum. I feel a little tired."

Lavonne kissed him and left the room with a simple 'alright.' With a sigh, Theodore extinguished the lights, and rolled on to his side.

Theme # 75: Yodel

"Muggle singers are quite good at yodelling," Luna implied serenely as she examined a brown leaf that had fallen into her lap. Theodore, sitting next to her by the lake, legs stretched, raised an eyebrow.

"Um, Luna?"

"Yes, Theodore?"

"I thought we were talking about Helena Ravenclaw."

Luna smiled dreamily in response. "Oh, yes. Helena Ravenclaw must have implanted some seed of cleverness in their voices, you know. I never get how some of them can yodel so good. Or, perhaps, fairies granted them some sort of special magic."

She was talking even odder than usual, today.

- Theodore loved it.

Theme # 76: Zap

Theodore plucked the leaf lying in Luna's lap, inspecting it himself. What's so special about this? It isn't even green. Honestly, she cares more for leaves...

He sighed.

"So, what else do you know about muggles, Luna?" he asked, for loss of a better topic. If muggles she wanted to discuss, muggles they would discuss.

Luna looked up at him through misty eyes, as if wondering what to tell. "Muggle children zap each other with you guns, you know."

WHAT?

"Oh, wow," Theodore said, uncertainly. "Does that mean I can kiss you?"

Dreamily, Luna nodded. "Yes, please."

The ball was huge, and so was the amount of people attending it. Theodore, in his bottle green and black suit, cut a handsome figure. As he entered with his wife, quite a number of heads turned to look.

"There you two are," Hermione said, one of the first to spot them. "Ron!" she called out. "They're here."

Ron hurried over. "Hey, Theodore; Luna."

Luna leaned on Theodore's arm and kissed him, half dreamy. "Hello, Ron. Theo, all the girls are wearing pink... Do you really think silver looks nice on me?"

Theodore grinned. "Better than you know."

The chestnut horse loped across the fields, Theodore's eyes following it. It was a strong creature with a gait that few horses in the area had. The mighty animal continued to lope for about a quarter of an hour, before returning to his master and mistress, as was his custom, his canter light but swift.

"He's growing stronger than I ever thought he could, Dorman," Theodore told Luna, referring to the horse, one of the newest addition in her pets. "What have you been feeding him? Anything special?"

"Nothing I haven't been feeding you," Luna replied sweetly.

Theme # 63: Mooch

Theodore meandered through the Hogwarts grounds, wishing he ran into a new one, today. That was Hogwarts: no matter how well you knew it, you never knew it well enough.

"Theodore?" A dreamy voice queried, from behind a tree.

At once, he knew who it was. A smile on his lips, he went over. "What are you doing here, Luna?"

"Mooching," Luna replied gravely.

Theodore blinked. "Mooching? What's that?"

Luna looked at him steadily for a moment, and then spoke up dreamily. "It means wandering, Theo. You need someone to polish up your English."

Theodore grinned. "You're hired."

Midsummer Noons

Theme # 64: Nap

Ah, midsummer. Curled up in what resembled an odd-shaped ball at the head of his favourite couch in the living room, Theodore yawned, ready for an enjoyable, afternoon nap.

He ran his finger over the edge of the couch arm, for loss of anything better. Summoning a glass of cold water with a short flick of his wand, he could not help pitying muggles. What, indeed, did they do when they were thirsty? Get up to go and get the water?

- Poor things.

He stretched his legs, stifling a yawn and leisurely opening the window.

- This was the life.

The Plate of Roses:

Their Wedding Day

Theme 79: Author's Choice

She looked lovely in pink. Deep, shocking pink that ran with plain white in her wedding dress, deep, skin pink that ran up her cheeks on her wedding day. As the question was put to him, Theodore Nott had only one response.

"I do."

She would be his forever, now, the one thing he had wanted all his life: Luna Lovegood. The lights were there, and the people were there, and his mother was there, and her father was there. And, most importantly, Luna was there, and he was there, and their words were there.

Within him, all was peace.
