Battlements https://i.postimg.cc/XqD33KYN/battlements-banner.jpg High above overlooking the lake and a section of the grounds are the castle battlements. During the Battle of Hogwarts, the battlements where used to defend the school from Lord Voldemort and his allies. This is also where Sirius Black rode away on Buckbeak the hippogriff, but keep that hush hush. Though some damage remains, the battlements remain fairly intact and provide an opportune place to be when an enemy is approaching. |
Xerxes! Charlie instinctively craved space- while the coziness and warmth of the Hufflepuff common room was nice, he often found himself wanting to be out in the fresh and open air. So when it was time to meet up with Xerxes to hang out around the castle, Charlie had asked the other boy to meet him up on the battlements. Charlie leaned against a wall as he waited, enjoying the view and taking some deep breaths. He looked lost in thought, a little, like his mind had slipped away to somewhere else. He sighed deeply but not unhappily, sinking to the floor against a wall and taking in the various sensations of sitting on the floor. |
Text Cut: Charlie Xerxes practically skipped off the steps from the tower leading up to the Hogwarts Battlements. He was holding a box tightly in his hands. He looked in both directions and then saw his friends Charlie. "Wotcher Charlie?" He ran over and gave Charlie a high five. "It's good to see you. And boooooooy do I have a great surprise for you. I'm really excited; this is gonna be a lot of fun." Xerxes leaned down and opened up the box he had brought with him. "I brought some Dr. Fillibuster's Fabulous Wet-Start, No Heat Fireworks. I thought we could set them off against the sunset. I have a feeling it will be indescribably beautiful." He took a few out and handed a few to Charlie. "Just give them a tap with your wand and then give 'em a throw off the battlements. Let the light show begin." Xerxes said, tapping his first firework and throwing it off the side of the rampart. With a whiz and a bang, the firework threw off red and blue sparks in all directions. Xerxes clapped and jumped up and down. "Your turn Charlie." |
SPOILER!!: Xerxes Charlie perked up as his dormmate approached, sliding himself up the wall into a standing position. "Hey Xerxes," he said with a nod, returning the high five. "What do you have there?" He curiously looked into the box, and raised an eyebrow at the fireworks within. "I guess this is okay if they're not dangerous." Danger wasn't really his thing, but he supposed no-heat fireworks would be fine, right? He picked up a few, but hesitated before throwing it over the edge. "I'm not going to scare any birds, am I?" |

"So I had an idea for a little game we could play with the fireworks. I was thinking we could put a Levitation Charm on the fireworks and then make them chase each other through the sky. Does that sound like fun?" Xerxes asked his friend. He was also open to other ideas, but this is what he had come up with. He just wanted to do something exciting with his new best friend. |
Jess/Tiffany <3 It was a good thing that Aurora was very active, because she had just trekked up seven staircases to get to the battlements. It was worth it though to see the grounds from up here. It was the perfect view. And even though it was technically still winter, the weather was quite nice. It was clear that spring was almost here. As she looked out over the grounds, Rory got the sudden urge to draw what she was looking at. Smiling, she started searching through her bag for her sketchbook and a pencil. Once she had grabbed them, she found the perfect spot, then started working on her sketch. As she worked, she wondered if the Giant Squid would appear. She wanted to see him. |

Grounds shimmering with the evening sunset, Tiffany couldn't help but glance outwards and wonder why she'd never spent too much time out here. There were no words that could describe the magic she felt, and she wondered if Johnny was experiencing the same thing back in France. "Good heavens, it's just breathtaking, why have I not trekked up here before?" Getting to her feet, the almost fifteen year old placed her palms on the stone and inhaled sharply. |
Aurora was so caught up in her drawing, that she had failed to notice that someone had been approaching her. Oops. "Oh! Hi, Tiffany!" she grinned at her old friend, happy to see her. "Not at all!" And she knew that Tiffany wouldn't mind it if Aurora kept working as they talked. She would make sure to pay full attention to her friend, she just also wanted to finish what she was working on. "Yep! I enjoy drawing things and doing art in general. I am in the club. She was also in drama, which was another form of art. It was very fortunate that both clubs had continued with other professors taking over in Professor Leroy's absence. "It really is beautiful." Aurora nodded, happy that Tiffany had finally discovered this place. "It's one of my favourite places to go inside the castle." Because of the incredible view. And it was definitely worth the trip to get there. "So how are you doing?" she asked her friend curiously. She seemed to be doing well. |

"Me? I'm doing ... okay I guess. I'm just kind of in disbelief, ya know. Two terms at Beauxbatons, two terms down at Hogwarts. It's weird. I still can't believe that you discovered this view before me?" She arched a brow at her friend, "I mean it's not like your common room is up this way. Do you miss France?" |
Aurora continued sketching as she listened to Tiffany. "Oooh, it would be awesome if you joined next term." She would love it if one more of her friends was there with her. But she also understood the stress of looming OWLs. "I'm already stressed about them," she admitted. Though she was also quite sure that she would succeed. Maybe not so much when it came to Ancient Runes... "I think I'll have to cut back on extracurriculars as well, because as it is they are taking up a lot of my spare time." Which was a real shame, but she just wasn't sure how she could manage all of that while also taking classes and studying for exams. Aurora thought that she'd probably have to drop Quidditch as well, unfortunately. Maybe she'd play Gobstones instead. She enjoyed that game as well, and it was definitely less stressful. Glancing away from her artwork, Aurora nodded at what her friend said about being in disbelief. It definitely was strange going from one school to another, even though she had adjusted to the change quite quickly. She grinned. "Only because I can't sit still for long. And I wanted to explore as much of the castle as I could this term." And she was happy to share this spot with Tiffany now. The question of missing France made her thoughtful. It's definitely lovely there, but I can't say that I really thought about it all that much. Mostly I just miss my sisters." But they wrote letters to each other all the time, which made things a lot easier for her. |
