open open hi hi :3 Having already acquainted her black heels to the dance floor, seventh year Ravenclaw Sadie Kareless peeled herself away from present company and group dancing to find somewhere for a bit of a breather. Her choice of attire was as elegant as much as it was practical, the loose and modestly billowing shorts that came to about midthigh allowing her a complete range of movement while also showing off her strong legs. Her shoes, however, were less desirable and her feet not accustomed to such vigorous activity in heels. But, she had been looking forward to this dance all term... despite certain reservations and ambitions being quite ambiguous and teetering on unfulfilled ...and she was determined to have a good time. Sore feet or otherwise. Sitting on one of the benches provided, Sadie immediately slipped her heels off and rested her right ankle atop her left knee so she could begin massaging the arch firmly with her thumb. Humming along to the music in the distance as she moved her thumb up and down, applying bits of pressure in specific places, she watched as the jellyfish effortlessly glided through the air. |
Though she spent much of the term being internally annoyed that many of her peers were so obsessed with this dance, namely worrying about getting a date months in advance, Karleigh grew to love the idea of a Spring dance. She no longer worried about getting a date because she liked the idea of being an independent woman, which in turn proved to be very freeing. She was here to have a good time and look good while doing it. Her parents even bought her a new dress when she went home over break and she felt like a princess in it. And although she was most proficient in ballet, the sixteen year old loved to dance in general, and she was rather good at it. She had already taken a few spins around the dance floor and needed a bit of break, plus she wanted to see what else the dance had to offer and see her contributions to the decorations. "Oooh it's so pretty out here," she exclaimed to herself, noting the illuminated aura the jellyfish and glow worms lent to the seating area. Maybe she should just sit down and relax a moment. But before she could she noticed someone else there, massaging her ankle. "Are you okay? You didn't twist your ankle, did you?" Karleigh was used to injuries like those, having had a few herself as a dancer. |
She had already come to this conclusion before, but tonight was just confirmation that the whole pain is beauty mentality was a bunch of dragon dung. Maybe she should just transfigure her heels into a cute pair of black sneakers... A thought that would have to be put on pause, and revisited, as she had a bit of company now. Sadie somewhat recognized the girl, enough so to know that she was in the year below her and a member of Gryffindor (someone Art may have mentioned to her), and offered a pleasant enough smile as a greeting. She was not particularly fond of small talk, so hopefully they would find a common ground quickly so as to avoid the more painful parts of casual conversation. "Me? Oh no. Nothing like that," she shook her head with a light laugh. Though, to be fair, even if she had twisted her ankle ... she was unlikely to admit to the injury. Thankfully that was not the case. "My feet are not built for nor accustomed to heels..." The seventh year trailed off as she slipped off her other black stiletto and set it on the seat beside her. Cheeks slightly puffed and lips pursed, she patted the sleeve of her golden kimono inspired top for her wand. With a tap swish tap swish, she cast a bit of transfiguration magic to morph that which was already present into a much more supportive form of footwear - a sleek black wedge heel with some golden accents. She'd reverse the spell before giving them back, of course. "Thank you though, for the concern." |
Pablo/Chellie They may have arrived together and walked along the Archways for a little while side-by-side but that didn't mean that they remained together after that. Nope, Jude had plans to meet up with his real date Evan shortly after escorting the blonde to the dance. That had been the plan all along and Keighley didn't mind it in the slightest. As long as her big brother was happy, so was she. After her stroll with Jude and watching him wander away with Evan, she headed off in a different direction but not so far off where she wouldn't be able to spot her brother should she need him. Not that she planned on it. Her goal was to leave Jude alone and let him enjoy his friend date while she wandered about and did her own thing. Which was how she ended up near the lake sat on one of the few deck chairs that where there. The view was absolutely gorgeous as she looked out over the water. Bright blue eyes followed the jellyfish that were in the lake and the glow worms that flew about the lakes surface. It was sort of.. mesmerizing. The only thing that could've made this even better was if she would've stopped and gotten herself something to eat and drink BEFORE she went and got all comfortable. Oh, well, it was too late now. |

"They do take some getting used to, I think," she agreed with a nod, her eyes following the stilettos as the other girl set them aside momentarily. "I dance ballet in pointe shoes," she added anecdotally. "So I'm fairly used to that sort of thing." But it took a lot of strengthening your ankles, so she understood if someone did not have that practice and experience. Karleigh was a little surprised at the transfiguration but she slowly smiled at the result. Clever. "Those are pretty." And they did look sturdier, though still elegant and fitting with her outfit. "Something else that helps are comfort charms," she added as a suggestion. She definitely added those to her pointe shoes. |
She was sweet, this girl, and quite soft spoken as well. She somewhat reminded Sadie of herself before she had learned how to completely rile herself up in the company of Art and not take the more submissive backseat to her sister. The divorce of dad and papa had been a pivotal point in that development as well, a jolt to the system and shook certain innocences out. Sadie nodded a bit in understanding. She was not one to have much skill in something as delicate looking as ballet, but she did have some rudimentary training with it. Training in ballet helped with balance and being light on one's feet, both of which were essentials for her sport of choice. "Makes sense," she agreed with a small smile while slipping her feet into her newly transfigured shoes. "I'm a kickboxer...so...barefoot, for the most part." And she certainly was not wearing any sort of heel while working in the greenhouses or performing as a lab artist. Taking a moment to flex her feet for a bit more stretching, the seventh year leaned back on her hands. "I'm Sadie, by the way." So she wouldn't need to be known as the girl with ankles and feet that were not able to withstand heels. |

"Ohh.. okay," Karleigh nodded in agreement, though she didn't really know that kickboxing was done in bare feet. She would have thought some sort of athletic shoe if she'd given it any thought, which she really hadn't until now. "I bet that's a lot more comfortable," she added with a laugh. "Sometimes I like to practice in bare feet because pointe shoes can be really painful, even after getting used to them." Even after using comfort charms, if she was dancing for hours. But she had worked up to a level of strength and accommodation that lessened the discomfort. "Nice to meet you!" Karleigh gave Sadie a bright and friendly smile. "My name's Karleigh. I'm in Gryffindor," she added for context, in case she didn't know. "It is really pretty out here." She paused to look around, not sitting down just yet. "The decorations came together really nicely." Not that she was exactly patting herself on the back, but seeing everyone's efforts together like this was kind of impressive. |
Shan&Lisa!! Though this area was perhaps meant as a resting point for the avid dancers of Hogwarts, Remy hadn’t done an awful lot of that this evening. There was also the risk of looking like one of those losers sitting in the bleachers waiting for someone to whisk her off her feet, but there seemed to be a fat chance of that, so sitting as a loser it was gonna be. This area was quieter, though, and that’s what she was looking for. Rather than spending her evening watching everyone have fun, Remy turned her attention to the jellyfish in the lake, and a smile finally graced her lips. She wrapped her arms across her chest and held her upper arms to try and retain the warmth. Sitting idly often did cause a chill even if it wasn’t particularly cold out. |

“Galleon for your thoughts?” she asked as she stood next to her friend and carefully leaned to nudge her with her elbow. |

Lisa seemed to have lots of people around her tonight, Remy had noticed. She noticed everything, but especially when she was alone. “Oh, hey… just catching my breath after all this dancing, ya know?!” She lied since she hadn’t stepped a foot on the dance floor yet. “What’re you doing over here? Did you manage to get Daniel to dance yet?” Remy smiled a little, unable to imagine Daniel Yoon doing such a thing, but had no doubt of Lisa’s persuasive skills. Her arms that were warming her dropped to her lap after the distraction. |
Excuse our insanely late selves :') SPOILER!!: Keighley! It was only because he'd been half expecting his currently cracked heart that let Pabu continue to past a smile on his face and flit around the dance asking this girl and that girl if they'd like to take a turn around the floor with him. There had been... a lot of rejections, but a couple of yeses too. Though he was pretty certain the yeses had all been older girls who simply just thought it was impressive the third year was shooting his shot. Or... that's what he was telling himself. It was probably pity. He'd been gearing himself up to go ask Maya Nam for a dance, despite the fact he KNEW she had come with a date, but actually seeing her on the floor with an age appropriate Gryffindor had quickly had him noping out. Did he think Maya would have agreed? Yes. But... as he'd already tried to tell himself beginning of term, it was time to mOvE oN. Which would be much easier if he KNEW other girls other than Maya, her sister who he was fairly certain did NOT enjoy his company (which he low key relished), sister in law and Matty. Majority of those were unattainable, for the obvious reasons. So.... time to branch out? Two drinks in his hand, having intended on taking one to the Slytherin, Pabu roamed around the Lakeside before noticing a lone blonde sitting on one of the deck chairs. He squinted for a moment, before realizing it was Keighley whom he did not know WELL but... enough to know her name, house and that they were in the same year. And she seemed fairly family orientated, since he was pretty sure the older guy she was often with was her brother. Making his way over towards her, Pablo pasted a smile on his face and sat on the chair next to her, offering her the extra water in her his hand. "Need something to drink?" |

Lisa smiled warmly at Remy when she mentioned that she was catching her breath. “I… he doesn’t dance… I don’t think I could convince him otherwise. Freddie wanted to dance though… I think Daniel knows he wasn’t my first choice….” she explained with a sigh. “It does make me feel bad to say it outloud but it’s the honest truth.” And she shouldn’t feel guilty for how she get right? Hopefully not. “Would you want to dance with me later?” she asked. |
SPOILER!!: sweet sweet Karleigh <3 Perhaps another time. Not that Sadie was ever particularly frosty towards new people, Sienna had always been the more guarded one between the two of them, but more the seventh year was stuck in this unique position of both wanting to and not wanting to make connections because they would be strained in a mere month and a half. But she wanted to...because she had denied herself the opportunity to expand on her finite friend circle until very recently. Not really a regret, per say, seeing as she valued her best friendships with Art and Ezra very much...but it was a little lonely sometimes. Especially with things growing complicated between her and Sienna ever since dad and papa's divorce. She was grateful to have grown closer to Autumn and Wes. Speaking of Wes...she should maybe go back and find him. But in a bit. "Much," she nodded in agreement with a light laugh. "I've never worn pointe shoes before, but regular ballet slippers I have. I'm sure there is a more proper name for those. Dance is an important part of training, nimbleness, flexibility, and speed." Sadie did not dance nearly as much as the probably should, using it instead as a replacement for cardio when jogging felt too repetitive. "A pleasure," she replied with a smile. Was there a need for house context? Perhaps, but Sadie skipped right on over it for now. "It is...peaceful too. Why don't you take a seat and enjoy it proper?" Sadie paused to gesture towards some of the vacant seats nearby. "Say...you were on the dance committee, right? I wasn't myself but walked by the room you all were holding sessions enough times while on my way to the greenhouses to see people coming and going." |

WHAT? Daniel Yoon wasn’t her first choice?! Remy’s eyes widened. “You’re lucky to be here with such a dreamboat.” She commented softly. Truthfully, she wasn’t too upset to not be at the dance with Daniel, because she wasn’t even sure if he saw Remy as a friend let alone a date. Still, she could admire him from afar. “Freddie, huh? He seems nice.” Remy gave an impressed wink. Fifth year Gryffindors were quite lovely. Remy had noticed Lisa hanging out with Freddie and Atlas, so she must agree. “Is Freddie who you wanted to be your date, then?” Or maybe someone else… it was important to find out Lisa’s first choice. More importantly, she needed her opinion on Jasper and Serena being here together. “I’d love that! And I’ll tell everyone that you were my date to the dance.” Remy beamed, her mood massively lifted since Lisa joined her. |
w/ Violet After all the dancing, Caes definitely could use the break from being on his feet. And what better way than the comfortably warm hazy feel in the air outdoors with the lake view? Holding her hand as they walked outside, he considered where the rest of the evening would end. Plus beyond the evening with the term approaching its end. "Wow, this looks nice." He surveyed the area. "Should we sit here?" at one of the benches closest to the lake. |
Quote:
"Um, I've been meaning to talk to you about...well, about--what are you planning on doing after school this summer?" Seriously, Violet, that was seriously chickening out. She felt mortified--she wasn't usually this timid, but she was afraid to bring up the big issue, mainly that this was her last year at Hogwarts. She'd already seen one relationship fizzle out over long-distance--though she and Einar had never gotten as close as she felt to Caes. Still, she was a bit afraid to hear what he would say if she asked him if he would write, if he would still want to see her after she was no longer at Hogwarts. |
Quote:
Sitting down, the view was great. It didn't seem like anything would put a stop to it.. "Oh," Well, at least pressing pause here. There it was, the elephant in the room that they had been avoiding talking over. Though it wasn't from Caes pointedly ignoring it, but rather, it just wasn't an easy situation. Them finally getting together and now faced with Violet graduating, he was uncertain. "Well," Caes began. "I was going to ask you if you wanted to come to a Quidditch game with me since I did get tickets." Which did at least confirm the term was going to be the only thing ending. "But... the other big thing, were you going to.." He wasn't sure why he was having trouble getting the words out. Clearing his throat, "I'll be in London of course for the summer.. after that, well, depending on where you are, I'd write to you." Though now he wondered about her, was she still interested in him to keep things going from afar? She would likely meet new people and see new things. "What were your plans after...?" |
Quote:
She chuckled. Yes, Daniel was attractive, intelligent, and a good friend buuuut she wished he would dance with her. “He is! I just wished that he’d dance with me…” she admitted. Maybe looks weren’t the most important thing? At the mention of Freddie, she waved her hands frantically. “I.. uhhh… no. He’s really pretty to look at but he wanted Atlas and I to dance with him… which was fun because it wasn’t weird flippy feelings…. If it had been one on one than yes. I just met Freddie tonight so… I think he’s pretty cool.” She liked his enthusiasm for sure. “My first choice… already had a date… I found out from his date… so that kind of sucked… especially when you’re ‘friends’ with said person,” she explained and used air quotations at the friends word. “We’re not talking but I’m not going to let that feeling ruin my night.. well trying not too.” Lisa was SO TOUCHED BY REMY’S COMMENT! So touched that she hugged her. “You’re the best. Ever since Diagon Alley, I knew we’d be the best of friends… I… thank you.” she said as she hugged her. She blinked back the happy tears in her eyes. “You’d be the best date ever too for the record.” |
Quote:
Totally zoned out, those jellyfish and glow worms were hypnotizing, okay! Keighley, didn't take much notice to Pablo approaching her until he was sitting down beside her and talking to her. Blinking a few times a slow but very warm smile tugged at her lips. A drink? Well wasn't that nice of him. Why he just so happened to have two waters with him, she really didn't care much to know. "That would be nice, thank you." She answered taking the offered drinking and opening it to take a small sip. "Are you having a good time?" Keigh shifted slightly on the chair to turn more of her attention onto him now as they spoke. |

Remy giggled as Lisa agreed that he wasn't a dancer. “Don’t blame you… he can be a little…” she tapped her chin to find the right word, “… serious at times, can’t he?” Maybe not the perfect word, but she wasn’t that techy with a thesaurus and neither am I. “Oh. You danced with Atlas, too?” Remy nodded along as she pondered this, also wondering how the heck she had missed that? Anyway, it sounded like she had the wrong idea about Lisa’s views on Freddie. “I’ve not really spoken to him much either”. Despite sharing a house and all. As Lisa continued, it became clear that she was about to get an earful of gossip, and her posture straightened to prepare for it. It was so OBVIOUS who she was talking about, and to be honest, it had bummed her out as well. Only because said boy was a total dreamboat but she didn’t think Lisa would appreciate her commenting on that. “You guys really aren’t speaking? Wow, that sucks. So are they, like… a thing now?” As in BF/GF, or however they decided to describe it. Yay, they were hugging. Remy giggled as Lisa expressed her joy at being her friend date. “I DO make the best date, don’t I?” She said as they soon pulled away from each other. “Who needs boy dates when we have each other?!” Honestly, she still wished she had a boy date, lol. |
SPOILER!!: Keighley Best news was Keighley was pretty "Of course! The atmosphere is nice, the food is good and I stumbled upon a pretty girl." he turned his smile towards her, resisting a wink that would have probably been far more cringe than charm. "What about you? You came down with your brother, yeah?" |

"Um, yes, next year. It looks like I'll be studying abroad next year, actually. At the Durkheim Potions Institute." That was her old governess' alma mater, and came highly recommended. In the past, Violet had dreamed of being able to go there, but now she was not feeling very enthused about it. "But I'd love it if you wrote...if you want to. I...I don't want to lose touch with you, Caes. And I'll be back in London for holidays and things--after all, I'm of age now, I can travel by myself." Surely it was possible to keep things up over a distance, for a little while. This wouldn't fizzle out like Einar had--after all, that wasn't at all the same as Caes. And hopefully he wouldn't meet some other fascinating person at Hogwarts after she was gone... |

“Well it was a three way dance thing between Atlas, Freddie, and I do not romantic and just fun,” she spoke. She didn’t go further into detail about how she’d been a lousy friend to Atlas over the term while he has been a really good friend. Their interaction at the Mirror had made her start thinking through things differently in her life. She needed to stop pleasing people. “He’s very energetic and nice. He’s also got a pretty nice smile.” She found him refreshing and energizing to be around. Maybe she’d ask him to hang out over the summer? Remy and Lisa had always exchanged gossip as if it were currency. They were confidants in looks, smarts, and just fabulousness (if you asked Lisa). “Yeah… it’s… weird…” she bit her lip when Remy asked that question and she looked away, shrugging. “Special friends? I… I don’t… don’t think so.” Or at least she hoped not. She wanted her friends to be happy but envy was rude. They looked nice together and it irked her… She sighed. She told herself not to think about it. She reverted her attention back to Remy. “YOU DO! I can hear all the people quite upset now but they missed the boat to have the best person EVER,” she exclaimed after she released Remy from the hug. Lisa had a boy date who was very nice… Maybe she’d have to convince him to dance but in the meantime- she’d dance with a good friend. |
SPOILER!!: “lovely Lisa” Remy mimicked her giggling to the point where they couldn’t look more like typical teenage girls if they’d tried. Giggling about boys. It was very cute. “Isn’t he just sooooooo cute, though?!” Remy was glad that Lisa had mentioned his looks because it was important to discuss! “Oh, really? That sounds like so much fun. How are you going to manage that, though?!” Maybe she’d get Atlas to sneak into the Restricted Section with her sometime. If she were to get mischievous with anyone, it would probably be him, and they hadn’t gotten much use out of their invisibility cloak recently. Oh THERE was her compliment, and it couldn’t have come a moment sooner! Remy covered her mouth with her hand to make a shocked expression. “Me? Awww, I woke up like this.” She beamed, “thanks, Lisa,” she ended with a genuine thanks. A three way dance? Did that… make it okay? Remy wasn’t sure as her emotions were conflicting each other, but she nodded with a smile all the same. “Dancing with two boys at the same time. Well done, Lees.” She was careful not to use the word cute this time, because she absolutely could not create the impression that she thought Atlas was cute. Even if he was the dreamiest of dreams. Being so wrapped up in her thoughts, Remy almost completely ignored Lisa as she complimented Freddie the way she did. “Yeah,” Remy agreed, “I don’t think so either. In my opinion, they just don’t suit each other.” It was just her opinion, sheesh!! If it were to ever happen, surely it would transpire on a night like tonight so they would have to keep a watchful eye on that scenario. Remy was really lapping up the compliments now. “We should dance right here. The dance couldn’t be far from over, and she wanted to get at least one dance in before it was too late. The blonde held out her hand for Lisa. “May I?” She grinned wide again. |
